THE LAST JEDI - WHAT DID YOU LIKED AND DISLIKED

what i liked:
>everything about kylo ren
>flashback scenes
>johnson experimenting with new force abilities
>surprisingly, poe dameron stepping up
>the scene where snoke's ship blew up was amazing
what i did not like:
>snoke died too easily and the opportunity to explain who he was and where he came from was lost
>no hayden, no ewan mcgregor again
>little too much humor in too many places
>phasma did nothing worthy again
>no knights of ren WHAT THE FUCK WHERE WERE THE FUCKING KNIGHTS OF REN
>leia superman scene
>the casino and stables scene was way too long
>rose being awkward af
>duels were underwhelming to my liking
>luke did not wreck shit up like everyone in the world wanted to except making one amazing dodge and jump
>rey and kylo did not join forces
>clear rey vs kylo for ep 9, with rey winning with the help of ghost luke

what happened? i fucking loved tfa but... i don't know, i need to see it again to form more educated opinion

>Liked

So is the reception actually bad or is Sup Forums just stirring up a forced shitstorm again?

>snoke died too easily

I mean....how would you like for him to die? Dude got outplayed, gg ez.

i liekd the exploshuns and cool magic powers

why dident they have moer explushns insted of those gay emotions

>how would you like for him to die?
INFINITE POWAAAAAAAAAAAAAH

Or something that outsmarts them and actually is a struggle

The Rock actually has a cameo in TLJ, look closely in the Scene right before Leia does the superman thing

The shit with Leia pissed me off. All of a sudden she can use the force like that shit to save her from death

TFA was a decent flick, a back to formula after the disaster of the prequels, but TLJ is fucking unacceptable, it's blander than the first film and steals too much from RoTJ.

It's by no means a bad movie but you can't waste so many characters like this.

i liked TFA a lot more than prequels. i hate to do this but as much as i enjoyed some moments of the last jedi, it has obvious flaws that i listed in the first post. i'm actually sad a bit because i expected... luke being a fucking hero again, not a reluctant hermit, more force and jedi stuff instead of finn and rose shenanigans.

>ruining Luke's growth by making him still scared and give up on his nephew when he can help his father, a fucking infamous Sith Lord, to be good at the end

Fuck Disney

holy shit it was true, he still is a punk-bitch tho

Likes
>FUCK your expectations
>not a remake of Empire Strikes Back
>Rey and Kylo’s guard fight
>Laura Dern fucking the First Order’s fleet in the ass
>Grumpy Luke
>the force feels mystical again
>Yoda
>an actual sense that characters could fucking die
>that sunset shot where Luke kicks it
>Kylo development
Dislikes
>Leia Superman
>Snoke’s death was cheap
>Rose’s everything
>Phasma’s death was cheap
>too much focus on military aspects, not enough on Mystic Force shit
>STILL NO FUCKING ANSWERS

It was surprisingly really fun, but it’s gonna be divisive.

Liked:
> Fight scene on snokes ship. Cool to see even tho some of the choreography was off
> Seeing character development of Rey and Kylo through multiple parts, was excellent
> Trustworthy codebreaker is realest scoundrel of them all. Good shit there
Dislikes/Improvements:
- Killing off Akbar
- Leia's super ability to use the force exactly once with no context or follow up
- Yoda. Like ????????????????????????
- The butchering of Luke Skywalker's character, and his death
- Gotta reference Moz
- Rey's "training"
- Lack of prominent alien figures (which you would expect but hey)
- BB-8 stands for Deus Ex Machina
- Who is Snoke? Who cares he is dead

Wasn't the happiest with the film. Wasn't angry either. Better than TFA but id give it a 6-7/10 tops

>Gets stabbed
>It was just an illusion
>See you around kid
>It's only a prank bro, i'm actually dead for real

>next movie
>OH NO THIS CHARACTER IS EVIL!
>HAHA JK REDEMPTION/SACRIFICE TIME!
>rebels win again because they already beat the empire 8 times now doing the same thing over and over

>- Gotta reference Moz
where the fuck did she get luke's lightsaber from? and why was she in exactly one 1 minute scene? i thought she was important?

All this completely justified hate for it is killing the joy I had while watching it.

He has a shirtless scene in the movie??

I need information:
Does Luke fight in any respect to anyone?
Does he use the force in any significant way besides the projection?
How does he enter the battlefield on the salt plain? What happens between him appearing and Kylo directing all shots to him?

likes:
>adam driver
>adam driver is in it guys did you know
>kylo getting berated by snoke
>adam driver's barrel chest
>kylo getting violent/angry
>kylo stabbing the guard through the chest

dislikes:
>kylo wasn't in every shot
>kylo can't come to my house IRL and beat me up

am I doing this right?

Liked:
>any time kylo was on screen basically
>luke being a grumpy old man
>yoda coming back was nice
>poe being Chad
disliked:
>LITERALLY EVERYTHING ELSE
>MAINLY SUPERMAN LEIA

rey even gets flustered over it, asking him if he has "a cowl to put over yourself", or something along those lines

>Does Luke fight in any respect to anyone?
No t really, he kind of spars with Rey and she bests him, and the fight with kylo is him projecting and he just sort dodges around

>Does he use the force in any significant way besides the projection?
Nope just the projection

>How does he enter the battlefield on the salt plain?
Shits pretty dire for the resistance, then luke just walks in from another room to see Leia, they share a moment then he walks outside to face the army of AT-AT etc, Kylo see's him from his shuttle then orders every gun to shoot him

I would have taken Kylo's offer and asked him to lay off the rebellion. Would have burned down the Sith and Jedi to start over.

>How does he enter the battlefield on the salt plain? What happens between him appearing and Kylo directing all shots to him?
he just walks out of a hangar type place. kylo ren directs all the AT-ATs to fire upon him. they do, to no effect. kylo ren then commands the AT-AT operators and hux to bring him down to skywalker and not advance until he says. hux goes to disagree with ren, but ren backhands him and sends him flying into the wall(probably the only good part about the whole sequence.)

>Does Luke fight in any respect to anyone?
No.
>Does he use the force in any significant way besides the projection?
He...destroys one of his huts....
>How does he enter the battlefield on the salt plain? What happens between him appearing and Kylo directing all shots to him?
Projection.

the one thing that sticks out to me the most, oddly enough is this line:
>amazing. Every word you just said is wrong.
I can't tell you how many times I've seen an uppity redditor that had no idea what they were talking about say that very thing. It's practically a meme, and it really drove home the kind of people they had writing this.

Good:
>action scenes
>Ryan's direction
>gorgeous cinematography and effects
>the entire scene in Snoke's throne room
>great character work from Rey, Kylo, Poe, and Luke
>Reylo scenes were actual kino
>and if I'm being completely honest, the Porgs were adorable and unintrusive to the rest of the movie
Bad
>style of humor changed, wish they would have kept it more natural like in TFA
>Phasma
>casino planet felt really out of place for the series
>I love the way Snoke died, but we should have gotten exposition first
Solid 8.5/10

As others have said
>Luke tries to kill his two closest friend's kid (who's also his nephew) when he didn't even do anything yet, when he refused to kill his dad, who he had zero personal attachment to, cut his hand off, and is one of the most terrifying figures in the Galaxy to top it all off.

You didn't even have to watch RotJ to realize this makes no sense whatsoever.

I didnt like how the whole Finn/Rose subplot ended up being pointless in the end. The whole thing. Why has nobody pointed this out?

It's a pretty entertaining movie overall. Some of the issues are true, some of them have been spread without necessary context. Here's a few:

> Luke "dying" is treated more as an ascension and there's a lot of dialogue to imply he'll be back in the next movie; it was pretty badass honestly. There's an implication he willfully became one with the force after becoming enlightened.
> I didn't think the Leia "flying" scene was that bad when I realized she was pulling herself to the ship debris, and it looked NOTHING like the Superman or Mary Poppins poses.
>Phasma is just there but I don't think that's a bad thing. She's another Boba Fett and I don't think the story would gain much from fleshing her out; leave that to the books. Finn's arc is about facing his corwardice so just facing her is enough to give him a foil.
>
>Yoda changes the weather. And even if he did use force lightning, I think it's permissable because he didn't harm anyone with it.

On the other hand, here are the problems I had:
>Snoke doesn't receive a backstory other than "he's old" -- even though that's all you need to know for Kylo's motivation to kill him, it would have had more impact if he was the first Jedi like some speculated because it goes in line with what Kylo hates about the past.
>LOTS of hammy dialogue here and there. Rose in particular was preachy at times and feels like she was there to teach Boyega cheesy morals.
>The Canto Bight part was mostly unnecessary in its spectacle; the fathier chase and arrest could have been shorter. That animal cruelty PSA was dumb too.
>Some jokes are in places they shouldn't be. Rey told Kylo to put a shirt on, for example, but she said it in the exact MIDDLE of a serious convo with the same serious tone.

It's also weird we didn't immediately see ghost Luke. I'm hoping there's a scene in IX where ALL the ghosts come back and help Rey, just as a bit saga send-off fanservice.

>It's also weird we didn't immediately see ghost Luke. I'm hoping there's a scene in IX where ALL the ghosts come back and help Rey, just as a bit saga send-off fanservice.
with the treatment the OT characters are getting, i doubt this will happen or even anything like it. it seems like theyre trying their best to make han, luke and leia useless and bad characters.

Why the fuck was Snoke dressed like Goldmember?

the praetorian guards should have been knights of ren. this would do two important things: 1. it would give kylo an additional amount of depth to have to go through them and 2. would put FUCKING KNIGHTS OF REN IN THE MOVIE

this. Why even have Luke mention them if they aren't fucking in it?
