100% this. On the special features (which are great btw) they even talk about how the director did not want to do 3D at all but the studio forced it on him. They also talk about how he at least used the 3D in a unique way focusing on close ups of faces rather than typical shit flying at the screen. Kind of makes me wish I would have seen it in 3D
