Have you ever gone to a movie theater alone?

Have you ever gone to a movie theater alone?

How was it? Would you ever do it for something that would be as crowded as stah wahs?

Did it for Silence and Bladerunner, basically any movie that I can't convince my normie friends to come and see.
For both there were under 10 people there and honestly it enhances the experience a lot being there alone.

I do it a lot, because my friends have shit taste in movies. Not a single nigger would come to see the shit I want to see, but I'm forced to come with them to fucking 'office party' 'daddy's home 2' and all other garbage, because they don't want to go alone

Let the Right One In was the last one. Almost 10 years ago.
I don't go to the movies (or out) often and when I do it's with my normie friends watching whatever is popular. It's still a good time, but I can't be like "Yo fuckfaces Suspiria and The Evil Dead are playing back to back let's go!". So I usually don't end up going to stuff I want to see either.

You aren't forced to go with them. You choose to go. Don't lie to us or yourself.

I saw Mad Max Fury Road by myself. Literally. I was the only person there. Best theater experience of my life.

Why would how crowded the theater is make a difference?
Do you really think anyone other than you cares if you go to the movies alone?
Should you care? No.
If you want to go to the movies alone, go. If you don't, don't.
These threads are stupid and it fucking sucks that shit like this is the only thing worth replying to on a day like today when my filters block 112 threads every time I load Sup Forums.

Why would you wear a hat and tuck in your shirt on the day you kill yourself?

Why the hell wouldn't you go on your own? Is this an US thing? Why would you need someone to go with you, you are not supposed to talk or interact with people during the movie.

>salty codependent on deck

might as well just start drinking soy, my man

>Bladerunner,
I had one complain about movie - it was too damn loud.

did it today for star wars and i do it all the time. I have movie pass so i honestly don't care. I want to get my money's worth

Yeah I had the same experience, I was at a shitty theatre I'd never been to before so I thought it was just them but turns out it's a pretty common complaint

I used to go all the time when I would skip work. Would just pay for a ticket and movie hop all day

I went to see IT with a friend, shit was dope. Theater was practically empty.

It was so distracting. I understand that music is a big part of the whole experience but if you're just wanting to end then it's not a good thing. I guess EE is not a good place to watch movies.

I saw The Age of Shadows at a matinee on a tuesday.
It was me and two other fat greasy neckbeards there.
Of course I didn't interact with them. One of my best cinema experiences ever.
Got to sit in the premium seats for free.
Would go again.

It's a shame because the soundtrack was excellent, it just needed turning down a bit

Went to see Wild (the movie about reese witherspoon hiking and finding herself movie) at the South Point casino in Vegas a few days before the Superbowl. It was comfy and only a few old people were in there. Good experience.

I have several times. It’s better in my opinion, whenever I go with people they insist on talking or getting concessions. Alone I get to walk in, enjoy and leave in peace.
>Times it was crowded
Amazing Spider-Man
Justice League
Thor Ragnarok
>Times it was dead
Her
Kingsmen The Golden Circle
Blade Runner

Habit. It's not real until it's done.

>Why the hell wouldn't you go on your own? Is this an US thing?

It's a Sup Forums joke that anyone going to theaters alone is a potential James Holmes.

Yeah, i listened it on youtube and it was spectacular.

I go to the theater alone all the time. Doesn't matter if the movie is capeshit or arthouse. I don't understand why some people think it's embarrassing.

I don't have any friends so yes I go quite often...I realized last weekend that I don't have any friends and nobody ever calls me.

feels bad man

>living your life in accordance with Sup Forums memes
Come on, now

what state do you live?

Yes I've done it multiple times and no one gives a shit.

>I don't understand why some people think it's embarrassing.

It's not. It just makes people think you have a gun.

This. The trick is not to loiter too long buy your tickets beforehand and sit in a place where not many people might come. Most people don't give a shit about you until you start being in their way. Like a group of friends wanting 5 seats next to each other.

i will never understand how going to the movies is a social thing

I live in NYC. Whenever I go to the movies there's always a few people alone. If it's some indie or arthouse thing I would say most people are there alone.

you could go to the bad movies with friends.

It's great.

it doesn't get better :^(

i go alone for 90% of the movies. best seats are next to the double love seats so you can steal their armrest

I did
One of the worst decisions I ever made desu

>go see IT
>all the normies are there with their friends
>literally everyone else is in a pair or a group
>because of my severe autism and anxiety I felt like everyone was laughing at me for going alone even though I know they couldn't give less of a shit
>couldn't even properly enjoy the movie because of how self-conscious I was

Never doing that again

I used to go to that theater. It was nice.

I watched TLJ today, alone, at the 14:00 session and there were only 5 other people in a big screenroom.

Felt pretty good to be quite honest with you

I know user...I know.

If you're going alone, you should wait a week or two or go at a time earlier in the day. Less normies.

Couple of years ago I went by myself to see both Ant-Man and Jurassic World back-to-back (fell asleep towards the end of JW). Theaters were mostly empty so it was pretty comfy, although those movies weren't spectacular.

Did it again this year for BR2049 twice. Really nice experience. Almost had the entire damn theater to myself the second time, but some fucker and his kid came in. Luckily they weren't too loud and sat far away from me. That's the kind of movie that you really should see on your own, on a large screen and as isolated as possible. Sup Forums was right on the money for once.

Dude, I was alone? Stop over thinking stuff.

yeah i go once in a while because my friends only watch the absolute most mainstream movies and nothing else.

i have never had a bad experience really. it's actually quite nice and relaxing.

Saw The Revenant alone. Not saying it was a great movie but I definitely had a great experience, becoming completely absorbed in the landscapes and almost approaching the feeling of being deep

I rarely go to movies. My recent ones were BvS, Alien : Covenant and Bladerunner 2049. There weren't a lot of people so it was comfy.

It's been a long time, but this year I have broken my barrier and went to see Blade Runner 2049 on my own. Best decission of my life. I saw it again with friends later and Im glad I decided to do it on my own first. One friend went to take a piss during the scene, when we meet the spoiler one. What a mess. You cant go to take a piss before the movie? Cant you hold it in? Jesus Im better of without friends.

I have a pretty bitch-made bladder and it was goddamn painful to hold it in during 2049 since that movie was nearly three hours. Glad I held it, as I didn't want to miss a second of it, but goddamn I must have drained a gallon of fluids out of me as soon as I got out.

Watched it again alone today in the last cibema thats still showing it in london and the sound was actually too low this time and the blacks were shit in their cinema it's a shame their the last ones showing it so poorly

I was still showing in cinema? I mean it's almost two and half months after debut.

Their showings for as far till 21 december still showing it. Cant see further ahead

All the time, I don't care what other people think (pro tip: nobody cares about you if they don't know you).

I always go to the cinema on my own. It's not a social occasion.

If you're worried about it, go on a Tuesday/Wednesday morning/night 3-4 weeks into the movie's cycle. Theater'll be empty.

Went to TLJ alone last night.

I dont get why people treat going to the movies as a social event. I am there to watch a movie, not to fucking talk to people

TONY SCOTT?

This.

Went to a packed showing of the last jedi and picked a double seat which usually couples/friends pick because it's missing an armrest. I couldn't give a fuck and picked the best seat which happened to be a double and it was packed so when it was just starting someone booked next to me and he saw my bags and sat next to the other guy next to me who also had a double and was sitting alone. So 3 of us sitting alone picked the best central seats nobody cares.

The biggest group of friends there picked the front row like retards.

I saw Nightcrawler by myself on a Tuesday afternoon. Only 3 other people in the auditorium. I made a smart decision

I went to the Castle of Cagliostro rerelease alone a little while ago. Was pretty fun.

My wife and I went to the Alamo Drafthouse one day and she saw Wild while I watched Foxcatcher. It was cool because when we came out we went for coffee and told eachother about the movies. Good time.

Wish it was louder desu

I go alone all the time.

>tfw sometimes the girls at the counter say "sorry, did you say two tickets?" because for some reason they can't imagine someone could go see a movie alone

I always go alone to the theatre alone since I'm friendless, kissless faggot. No one bats an eye of you go alone because why should they care. Be prepared to pay extra for a singles ticket though.

>Office party
for a second there I read Office Space and I was going to become verbally abusive.
wew.

I go by myself all the time because I go on Sunday mornings first showing

I just did today. It wasn’t all that crowded, and there were plenty of other singles there too.
