rebels sux

Post yfw the canon cannon isn't actually canon

I'm going to miss Kanan

Is S3 any good? I haven't watched it yet.

Damn, I thought it was a preview of like, a grenade launcher for Battlefront or something.

ezra should die instead T B H

You sux.

he's right, you know.

youtube.com/watch?v=2qLXcl5uCK0

Rebels is SHIT

SHIT

Glad its ending

Here is the updated Canon Guide. It should include every 2017 (and Celebration) announcement included. Please tell me if I am missing something!

The Short Stories take up a lot of space, but that can be easily fixed and we'll cross any problems when we get to them.

I removed all fan-made posters, and fixed any errors in the last version too. The Canon Guide in the OP will be updated soon.

I am also curious about what the hot topics are for people post-celebration, so I made a poll:

>What are you most hyped for?
strawpoll.me/12770730
strawpoll.me/12770730
strawpoll.me/12770730

The ST is not canon because Mark doesn't like it. Eat it Pablo.

>fake The Last Jedi trailer again

God dammit, OP.

LEL

fuck posted this in the last thread before realizing we made a new one

eugh the Binary Sunset at the end of RotS is so fake looking. I know George filmed that scene back in 2002 when they were in the desert cuz he knew he wouldn't want to go back for 5 second shot but then in the making of Revenge of the Sith book it says he decided to reshoot it on green screen. Was the original completely out of focus or something? Or the lens cap on?

Honestly I think the reason why people always hark on the CGI of II and III in particular is because the early 1080p digital cameras Lucas used made them look out of place because of how the way a digital camera processes light (especially early ones) is different from film cameras, so all of the CGI artists weren't able to make the blending of CGI and real in-camera stuff look natural.

Did they say if there is armor customization in Battlefront 2? I want Scarif armor

Also pretty hyped for Star Wars Land, myself.

>know that someone rused us with a fake
>went back to an older OP to avoid this
>didn't realize the last OP was corrected and the one I copied had the fake

the dark ride sounds great, especially if the "hide from AT-ATs halfway through" part is true, but the falcon ride sounds like shit

>OP tries to avoid the ruse but ruses himself
Whoever started this has been getting some good mileage out of it

>youtube.com/watch?v=yzpBS9cC83U

PLAGUEIS CONFIRMED?????

Thanks cAnon
Crap, i'm really behind in the books

>eugh the Binary Sunset at the end of RotS is so fake looking.
I disagree. Only one shot looks bad and it's not the one in that that thumbnail (or the one in my picture, this one looks great).

>is because the early 1080p digital cameras Lucas used made them look out of place because of how the way a digital camera processes light (especially early ones) is different from film cameras, so all of the CGI artists weren't able to make the blending of CGI and real in-camera stuff look natural.
Pseud detected. This was only true of AOTC that used an 8-bit color depth camera. ROTS used a 10-bit camera that didn't give the CG artists any issues.

>know George filmed that scene back in 2002 when they were in the desert cuz he knew he wouldn't want to go back for 5 second shot but then in the making of Revenge of the Sith book it says he decided to reshoot it on green screen. Was the original completely out of focus or something? Or the lens cap on?
ROTS was rewritten many, many times. The circumstances probably changed, story wise.

That, or he shot the scene and planned to composite Ewan in later since I don't think Ewan went to Tunisia for AOTC, but that didn't end up working.

>or the one in my picture, this one looks great

looks like a highschool digital editing project

Shoretrooper is great (not quite as good as Scout Trooper armor imo but still very good), I hope it's playable outside of only Scarif.

Kanan is cute but he belongs with Ezra and Janus Kasmir

>mfw all of the problems with TFA script are because JJ and Kasdan both went to Bob Iger and told him they needed at least another year in order to figure out how to get the story right with all of the elements in it and characters that needed to have the right amount of screen time that they couldn't figure out how to navigate (both old and new) but Iger told them he'd give them 6 more months and thats it

It's why instead of May it was released in December and set that release precedent and also why shit like R2 turning on at the end is completely random and unexplained.

he talks about it here with Michael Arndt:
ew.com/article/2015/12/20/jj-abrams-answers-burning-question-about-r2-d2-star-wars-force-awakens/

I'll look for the source on the Bob Iger thing (I thought it was in that article but I guess not) and post it when I find it

Nope.

aright well it applies more to Attack of the Clones anyway since that one's always felt like the most criticized for the amount of unnecessary CG that hasn't aged well (the CGI in ROTS has definitely aged really well, and not just compared to the first two films)

and wtf does
>Pseud detected
mean

Anthology hasn't been the official name for the spinoff movies for quite a while. And even when it is used for it, all spinoffs going forward are going to be the same.

I'd recommend removing the purple grouping of the "anthology" movies

I'm excited for the Luke book, looks like you might've forgotten it

more like high school painting class amirite

I dunno man especially considering it's the final frame of the trilogy and meant to be compared to the Binary Sunset in A New Hope, it looks really fake and almost like it was done last minute.

Is this your best counterargument for him? "nope"?

ducktroopers have been saved

>it's the final frame of the trilogy
It's not though.

Why shitpost?

>it looks really fake
What about it looks fake?

>strawpoll.me/12770730
Didn't knew that there was going to be a new Vader comic, when does it start? Who is making it?

>using a matte painting in a 35 year old film as a counterargument when someone says the green screen in the final shot of a 12 year old film looks poorly done.

u sure got him lmao

Is there a list of every announcement at swc?

The text for

Secondary Ongoing Series

and

"Join the Resistance"

is a little hard to read due to the color. I'd recommend either changing it or putting duplicate text behind it in black and slightly larger to make a "border" of sorts to make it easier to read

Is that supposed to be Threepio?

was Kanan ever going to be ongoing, i thought it was always gonna be 12 issues

Are you still going to use that argument in 20 years when both films are really old?

REEEEEEEEEEEEEEE I HATE NEW STAR WARS REEEEEEEEEE

Luke giving up and living in a cave is directly contrary to his core characteristics of hope and optimism. Moreover, the darkness ascendant in Disney Wars undermines Anakin's struggles and sacrifice in the earlier movies. Making Luke hide in a cave to make Snoke seem like more of a threat shits all over Luke and Anakin.

>final shot
But that's not the final shot?

Why are you shitposting?

>Join the Resistance

>kids vs kid kidnappers played for laughs

wait seriously?

I just noticed the faint halo around the two and the grain that's in the background but not on them.

dude so realistic and immersive lmao

fuck cgi so fake xD

BASED cANON!

Looks great man. Glad my ideas helped. Also I didn't know about the Droid Awakens. Gonna have to look into that.

>Luke giving up and living in a cave is directly contrary to his core characteristics of hope and optimism

he did something that helped lead to the jedi massacre and is obviously guilty as fuck about it

>grain
you played yourself

how the fuck is an opinion a shitpost? cuz you disagree with it?

>what about it looks fake
it looks like someone applied several shitty instagram filters to it. You really think the bottom one looks better than the top? You think it looks as real?

I don't think there's a single person who isn't retarded or in the middle of a mid life crisis who'd disagree with you.

Oh shoot you forgot Vader Down one shot.

Also for the comics it might help to do like:

>Darth Vader
>26 issues, 1 annual

Or whatever the count is.

watch the movie first to find out why

The justification the film uses doesn't change the fact that it's a bad premise to begin with.

no my opinion is already formed. I've seen enough in the teaser trailer to know everything that happens in the movie.

Oh yeah, they were shot on digital. I guess that makes it noise

>doesn't change the fact that it's a bad premise to begin with

I don't want to see Lukes scooby doo team of jedi teenagers with atittude and neither should you

its star WARS

Alright. Good point, considering I foresee a lot more than just three of them

Shit yeah, I'll get that in there in the next update

No problem!

I actually haven't seen anything on that yet

Yes, armor customization is confirmed, but they've been vague on the details.

They said that there is customization, but things like Snowtroopers on Hoth, and Phase I Clones on Kamino, will be the standard designs for those locations.

But I am guessing you can upgrade upwards from there. Probably just slight variant.

Remember classes are confirmed, so Shoretroopers are probably just a specialist Class on the Scarif map.

IIRC it was initially announced as an ongoing, and then they said they were cutting it short after the first volume, before backtracking and saying they were finishing the second volume too.

Yeah, I noticed after posting, I'll change the colors for those.

Charles Soule is making it, it's set right after ROTS.

Thanks man.

Droid Awakens is just a single issue compiling three of those droid mini-comics that were previously released in other comics. Nothing too exciting, you might have even read all the stories.

I wasn't sure if I should include crossovers or not. I initially had Vader's Down, but removed it. But if it make things clearer, I'll add Vader Down (and Screaming Citadel) back.

And yeah, I'll start including the issue counts too, that's useful.

>Top frame
>Sunset, but the suns are still fully visible in the air
>dude no sunlight on luke or the house lmao xD

>it looks like someone applied several shitty instagram filters to it. You really think the bottom one looks better than the top? You think it looks as real?
I truly do, yes.

>instagram filters
ok bud
The top one's color scheme looks less natural.

>it looks like someone applied several shitty instagram filters to it.
No, it looks like a real life vibrant sunset.

>You really think the bottom one looks better than the top? You think it looks as real?
Both look really good and both look real

Then why do you want to see Abrams's group of scooby doo teenagers?

...noise that is very apparent on Beru's face.

because I hate Jedishit

okay he mixed up film grain and digital noise, that doesn't void his point that you can clearly notice the poor compositing done with how out of place they look. Do you not see the lack of noise on the two of them in comparison to the background?

Then it's irrelevant, because now this is the Rey show where jedishit happens instantly and everyone else is secondary.

Go back to bed, Karen.

Are you blind??
He talked about the noise not being on the actors. Look at Beru's face!
Look at it!
NOISE

And now I am suerp sad

fucking obviously there would be some because they had to shoot the two of them on a camera. He's saying the amount of noise in the BACKGROUND isn't present on the two of them.
I feel like you're just trolling at this point because you're just trying to pick apart our arguments with the minutiae of what we're saying (like disregarding him for mixing up film grain and digital noise) rather than having actual counterarguments

Had to switch from mobile to computer for this,
I think I see the problem now

But Young Jedi Knights was better than TFA.

A normie friend just sent me this

The Last Jedi is using jedi in plural

I think you both fucked up.

The issue isn't noise, it's shitty set lighting. Owen, Beru, and Baby Luke all have a rim light on them from behind. But you can tell that light isn't traveling through the air behind them the way it would if they were physically on set. The effect is subtle and barely noticeable, if you do a lot of CG effects and lighting and rendering it's a bit more visible to you.

>He's saying the amount of noise in the BACKGROUND isn't present on the two of them.
Do you not know how cameras work?
There is going to be grain/noise in a background when the focus it the foreground.

>I think you're just trolling
touche

amazon.com/Star-Wars-Front-Daniel-Wallace/dp/1785652141

Wait, what is this? is there any info out there about it?

>The effect is subtle and barely noticeable,
Then who gives a shit?

If we're sailing into
>but your brain did
territory, let me know right now so I get abandon thread.

To go into a bit more depth, when you want to green and bluescreen you light the screens separate from the actors, because the light will bounce and everything may wind up green tinged. It'll get rid of your tint, but it becomes kind of obvious you needed to throw a rim light to avoid a colored tint.

That light doesn't match the light that'd "really" be behind them if they were in the desert, at least to me. There's a light, but it comes off as being a different color and warmth.

It's also been confirmed that it's singular and the plural in other countries is a mistake.

Ah bummer on Droid Awakens, but I didn't like those shorts a lot.

And you should definitely include the crossovers. gotta keep everything.

There is way too much moisture in the air in that second shot
The suns are way too dim in the first one

but the top one IS natural

I have a question. Which one in pic related looks more real, right or left? I'm curious because Rogue One seems to be loved here, but it also wasn't directed by Lucas so thus it's allowed by you guys to be flawed.

You both said the 2005 green screen sunset looks just as real as the 1977 location one, with the first guy saying he thinks the one shot on location looks somehow less natural than the one literally done on computers. So let's see if that applies to CGI Tarkin.

>really want to play some new Star Wars videogames
>only options are shitty mobile cashgrab games
>the only shitty mobile Star Wars game that looked like any fun was shutdown

I miss Star Wars vidya

You now realize that Tatooine has two different hued suns and that means the lighting even in ANH was objectively incorrect. If anything ROTS is closer since they could better simulate the otherworldly lighting conditions.

I trust this settles that matter.

read my above post

Rey is a Solo and Ben is a Skywalker

or nah

>trailer for season 4 pushing an Ezra/Sabine pairing

Disgusting. If this is truly the route Rebels was going to take, then it's best it dies.

Filmmaking is made or broken on things that the eye barely notices, building up one after another until things either look ridiculous or believable.

This goes double for when CG or composits are involved because when you render out half a dozen different layers and need to recombine them after there are a number of ways it can go wrong. The more that's not just plunking down a camera and going for it you add the more ways it can go wrong.

The skin textures aren't quite right in a few shots. But more generally the entire thing isn't quite right conceptually.

Peter Cushings hair wasn't that dark. His eyes weren't so baggy. His skin didn't have quite so many spots on it. He's sure as fuck not four inches taller than he was when he was alive.

Rogue One's Tarkin is a caricature of the original. For the most part it's not a question of is the tech there so much as they just went in a fundamentally wrong direction.

>but it also wasn't directed by Lucas so thus it's allowed by you guys to be flawed.
So what are my options here?
What am I allowed to think looks good?

Make these a gif and suddenly the right one looks weird as fuck

How old were you when you grew out of discussing Star Wars?

I started yesterday

user...

see

They over-acted his face, it happens sometimes with CGI

>KanEzra shipper
>I am not alone

Oh thank the Maker for you.

There's a difference between what might logically be there, what's viable, and what's actually good looking to the human eye. Doing a full lighting setup like that would be impractical at best, especially in the 70's. It also wouldn't quite look right since the audience has an expectation for what things look like and having it be subtly off doesn't work.

the grain/noise argument only started because the other guy said he noticed the different amount
of grain in the background than on the actors, and then him saying grain and not noise was used as a way to dismiss our points.

From the beginning I said the lighting was off, the argument just snowballed.

Yes I saw, but the first one was shit so no amount of promises and fancy trailers will get me excited. If they somehow manage to make decent maps, some semblence of balance, and don't go full Jew, then I'll get it.

I'm going to be 60 years old and yelling at kids on the internet about how they shouldn't criticize MY Starwars

I still have faith (for some reason) that Eps VIII and IX will redeem VII, and it will take its rightful place as the first of three and not just a bastard stepchild with IV's hair and eyes.
