The casino scene, mostly.
Ignore faggots who say Luke was bad or "ruined" in this movie. Plebs, all of them.

fpbp

The "fans" choking it to death over four decades

I just want to know why star wars has been turned into a female power fantasy.

This: Everything else was pretty damn great.

It's progressive.

But Luke is the one who saves the day?

>entire point of TFA was to find Luke to train Rey
>Yoda pops in and says she's so good she doesn't need training *burns your house down*

Bad pacing and unnecessary side story. That's all. Leaving Luke, Rey and Kylo and Order vs Resistance only would have made everyone shut up.

Nothing happened?

>Ignore faggots who say Luke was bad or "ruined" in this movie
explain please

I thought it was ok. The humor was a little cringe at times, but it had it had enough good to outweigh the bad.

no, it was BALANCED

is this the contrarian/bait thread

tone
pacing
forced Humor
editing
no tension
plot holes
abysmally bad worldbuilding
plot exists only because of unnaturally dumb contrived events
extremely shallow in your face political statements
raping of luke as a character

The handling of Snoke and Phasma

Finn's whole arc

Not enough Benico Del Toro

The biggest sin is that there is still no sign of Lando.

Yoda burned the tree itself cause it was worthless. Luke was idolizing the Jedi cult himself and he didn't realize that, but as he himself said before, the force doesn't belong to the Jedis.

Because he's Luke, not because he's a male.

2 hours of "we're running out of gas".
Casino.
The emotional arcs and loose threads of TFA being casually tossed over Luke's shoulder and abandoned.
Finn.
Poe.
Phasma.
Del Toro's character. Can't even remember his name, he was so forgettable.
Casino.
Of course the fucking force isn't exclusive. The Jedi have been taking random force-sensitive kids and slaves for centuries. Don't need a 1 hour side story in a main entry film to reveal this.
Game of Thrones.

he didn't say that. He was talking about the books. WHich she literally had
casino scene is the only legitimate complaint.

even that was still just fun. why can't we have fun with these movies? I'd rather have a 2h30min movie with some pointless and fun sequences than a 2h one set on an island and a spaceship

THE FORCE IS FEMALE AM I RITE

FUCK DRUMPF AND FUCK WHITE PEOPLE

>No character development with characters like Luke acting totally out of character
>Weak plot

>Muh nostalgia
>Marvel Quips fucking everywhere
>Super Leia

Watch this, it'll explain it all very bluntly.

Yes, space fairy tales should have a sequel which ruins the "and they lived happily ever after". Moron.

These are just things you didn't like. What was actually wrong with it though?

Luke's character was actually fitting. I liked all of the Luke and Rey scenes. It's almost as if someone else was writing those scenes. Don't know why they killed him in the end though.

Everything in this movie is a vagina power fantasy. From the beginning to the end. Only cucks and soyboys liked it.

Also no fucking explanation of what's going on with the New Republic at all, hardly no details given since what happened between TLJ and ROTJ.

Looks like the shills are out in full force today.

There was nothing good, or even fun about this miserable pile of vomit and shit.

Let me answer your question, with another one.

Why didn't ghost yoda kill Kylo Ren?

They literally blew up the capital planet of the republic in the last movie.

They had enough gas for 6 hours.

>One fucking planet out of the whole fucking galaxy

Fuck off Disney

The ending is absolutely perfect, a perfect conclusion to Luke's character. He fulfills Obi Wan's example, he reconciles his OT idealism with the understanding of the prequel's reality, he manages to hold off an entire army without abandoning his pacifism. It shows a strong understanding of the character, and the fact that he's pushing the Force harder that it ever has before fits great.

I don't think it was wrong, but i believe it was designed to tear people apart. I really like it.

>casino scene is the only legitimate complaint.
> the only legitimate complaint.
explain yourself

>being this much of a woman

You missed the word "sweetie".

>Marvel Quips fucking everywhere
Oh god the zoom at Rey in the lobster fight so obvious

this among other things

Luke was the only saving grace in the film. Turning him into a bitter man who wants nothing to do with the force or being a hero is far better than having him be just another wise sage character. If they would have explored this layer of character they added to him further and cut about 1 hour of bad film out it could have been legitimately great. As it stands its a pretty dull film but I enjoyed it more than TFA if for this alone.

even the general with the pink hair who refused to explain what was going on?
or when she kamikazed herself with the cruiser opening a whole slew of questions

I liked the scene with the dark hole shit. Was pretty spooky and it fit the whole Dark Side shit.

Don't really know what was going on in the scene though. Some deep shit?

Fucking battlestar rip off lol

First post, best post

Everything related to the code breaker and the casino planet was awful and shouldn't have been there. Complete waste of time. It's actually ridiculous that that shit was there. The movie didn't need any more padding. Just have Finn in a coma the whole time.

I can see why people are mad about Poe's plot.

Luke, Rey and Kylo were handled really well.

Killed off Snoke without delving into his motivation/back story

Killed off Luke in a way that seemed unnecessary and forced

Rewrote Luke's character to be what a plot point needed him to be

Wasted time in a romance subplot for Finn when we wanted more time delved in other areas

Too much banter and funny for a movie that was supposed to be more serious with a darker tone (think ESB with GotG type bantz)

Story premise makes no sense

Leia is superman

MaRey Sue makes even less sense now that her parents were nobody drunks

These last two movies pretty much invalidate everything that happened in the OT and PT and dgaf about it.

sup Rian make a favor and kill yourself

>Luke, Rey and Kylo were handled really well

This, I hope plebs on this board wise up to the fact this was stuff was the good shit in the film and move on to more important complaints.

Namley the quips and how the jew has ruined the franchise.

> He fulfills Obi Wan's example
which was?
> he reconciles his OT idealism
which was?
> with the understanding of the prequel's reality
agreed, but why only until he turned into a hermit? This was not explained at all, how couldn't he be aware of it when he opened the new academy?
> It shows a strong understanding of the character
agreed
> he's pushing the Force harder that it ever has before fits great
Why did this cause his death thou? Or was it the reason?
Why would he become one with Force after this? Did he just give up on life because of Yoda's trolling?

i.4cdn.org/tv/1513358175430.webm

It was about you being the only one who can answer these questions. There is only you and the moment defining your fate.

They were too scared to have a dark side ending. The whole build up was Rey going to the dark side, but they missed their chance. Could've had Kylo/Rey dark side bond with Luke being the last Jedi.

kek

the biggest problem is that the movie thinks it's so clever that it has to surprise you on every step.

and I'm not just talking about how it took a shit on all the TFA foreshadowing and theories but thinks like for example Del Toro

>oh he's shady
>oh he's asking for payment
>oh he just needs a conductor he's a good guy
>oh he betrayed them
>oh he's gonna change his mind
>oh it's him in the AT
>oh it's just BB8

There are like many ongoing stuff like this with characters you absolutely do not give a fuck about.

Second the pacing is off, the editing is bad, the directing is mostly bad and for an entire movie being a chase scene there is suprisingly little tension

>Rey was handled really well
>being the Mariest of all Sues is now good writing

What kind of joke is this?

It was great. A hell of alot better then The Force Awakens. Rey actually had a character in this one.

My interpretation was that projecting yourself across the universe takes an herculean amount of effort, even when you're Luke Skywalker.

>You can't be doing this, you'd die from it
Kylo Ren to Rey in the middle of the movie, a bit of clever foreshadowing.

> Turning him into a bitter man who wants nothing to do with the force or being a hero is far better than having him be just another wise sage character
agreed
> If they would have explored this layer of character they added to him further and cut about 1 hour of bad film out it could have been legitimately great
agreed

but see

>Rey actually had a character in this one.

Lies. She was a marry sue as always. Didn't even feel tempted by Kylo's offer.

Leia's dialogue was trash. It's all generic motivational stuff about HOPE and felt so awkward. This is not the Leia of the original trilogy.

AHHH GENERAL RIPOSTI, WE MEET AGAIN.

Fpbp. Star Wars has one of the most autistic fanbases I've ever seen

>Rey actually had character
>Her parents were literally drunk nobodies

They made her an even bigger Mary Sue.

I would have left out the meditation and closed his arc on a darker note

We pick up 9 with the new rebellion having been formed.
Only Rey and Kylo have both turned.

Both Luke and Kylo very clearly state that we ought to move on from "EMPIRE VS REBELS JEDI VS SITH LIGHTSABERS N SHIT" but the rest of the film is lifted from various bits of Empire and Jedi without the necessary build-up or pacing.

It was a lot of set pieces, arrived at via hyperspace rather than satisfying writing.

I agree with this. I liked (not loved) the film but the stupid Chink and Finn subplot was really stupid. I didn't necessarily mind showing the Casino because it's interesting to see the different kind of planets and people in the star wars universe. But the horse stampede escape thing was soo bad and broke up the pacing of the film. Also the Maz Kanata video game scene was fucking terrible.
Thought Leia should have died in space - it would have been a good ending to the scene, with Kylo Ren choosing not to kill his mother, but her tragically dying anyway.
I thought Kylo Ren was the highlight of the film because Adam Driver gave the best performance. Also really enjoyed the Luke and Yoda scene desu.

It even invalidates TFA entirely. It's terrible even just as a sequel. Normies just like it because emotionally is very strong and it uses a lot of cheap tricks to make you think it's actually deep or clever.

> but the rest of the film is lifted from various bits of Empire and Jedi without the necessary build-up or pacing.

But it ends with empire / rebels / jedi / sith. I mean it's in the exact same situation where A New Hope started or TFA started. Ray even has the fucking books, and Luke says she's the last jedi. heavily implies she will restart the order

They're probably going to kill him in the next movie to kill even more of fan favorite and old character, along with the robots probably.

To "kill the past" and tighten their grips on Star Wars.

and when poe does it in the opening of the movie? is that because he's poe, not a male

Republic was practically blown to bits in the last movie what was there to explain?

Her and Kylo are still going to bone later. You could cut that sexual tension with a knife. Good thing they aren't brother and sister like some people assumed. Wouldn't want another Luke/Leia situation.

More like seven planets which made up the new Republic

Man the chase stuff from battle star galatica blew this shit out of the water.

>white heterosexual couple
>Disney movie

c'mon nigga.

Yeah that's the problem for me. It felt very very meta and preachy with the whole "IT'S TIME FOR THE JEDI TO END" "LET THE PAST DIE" etc and even had some interesting ideas to explore (only glimpses, mind) but in these moments it forgets that the whole fucking movie is just paint-by-numbers Star Wars

Rey is obviously gonna be fucked by notHan Solo.

...

That's why Snoke kicked her ass around the place right? and literally smacked her with her own lightsaber calling her a child

The movie starts terrible, it makes a joke out of the main villains who all appear completely inept to do anything . The movie is about a big chase scene but it difuses any tension at the beginning. Then it gets worse and worse

Maybe they did have that spark when they first met.

Finn and the asian girls plot line which led to nothing, Poe's rebellion which led to nothing, Rey's training where she learned nothing, the Porg's which did nothing. There was so much happening but most of it didn't lead anywhere. Kylo Ren was the only thing that went right, and at this point the only good new character.

That was pretty bad, sure, but it recovers right away, it's not a deal breaker.

Anakin's parents were who? A slave nobody for a mother and some force recessed genes hence why the force is now in other families. His dad is just a theory of Plageueis not even confirmed.

the actual race tension never gets started..you're constantly told that they keep destroying rebel ships but it's made in such a bland way that you don't feel the tension and the hopelesness. Then they keep puilling plotpoints out of their ass about how to survive this hopeless situation the entire movie . The entire thing was a miss and should have been a lot better

Hux is gonna turn into Sith form for the third film

I thought we all assumed that Papatine pulled a Jesus situation where he used the force to impregnate Anakin's mum

This movie is kino because it destroyed any interest I had left in Star Wars related media.

And so at the end of episode ix will Rey start a new Jedi order? Like what should have happened between vi and vii with Luke, except THIS time it'll work after Rey received such high quality training from Luke? And we're supposed to care about this?

Because he's just a good pilot and that's cool, yes. You see, we don't have this segregated way of seeing genders, always comparing us to females. Nobody would have complained if Poe was a female. Just like most people would have liked more of Phasma, not because she was a female but because she was cool. My main problem is that the whole subplot with admiral gender studies should've been given to Ackbar (and not because of his "gender" but because he's an old charismatic secondary character), and that awful character embodies everything wrong with feminist self-entitlement with "no need to give no man explanations of my plans!" that led to the entire useless casino arc instead of just fucking telling Poe the plan to calm him down. Also the chink chick is fucking trash and it smells as multicultural strong ugly female addition.

So I against my better judgement and due to being a fan of Star Wars for the last 30 years I went to see TLJ hoping Sup Forums was wrong this time. It turned out Sup Forums was not only right, but it is even worse then they said.

The non-cultural marxist issues:
- no character information or depth/development for anyone except Kylo. Nothing is known about Snoke and Rey is still a Mary Suewalker.
- endless action and no talking, we must not let the 'tards with short attention spans be bored by dialogue
- Luke was absolutely butchered and was Luke only by name, literally a different character (confirmed by Hamil himself who said the director did not allow him to act they way he thought would be Luke-like)
- the Force, Yoda, ships and hyperspace mechanics were all butchered. It's like the writers have read no SW lore. Ships have hyperspace shields that prevent kamikaze attacks and Yoda would never burn books.
- Leia is Superman

The cultural marxist issues:
- all villains are white men, no exceptions, and they act like they are in Space Balls, caricatures
- all heroes and all pilots!!! are 50% women and 50% niggers/spics/chinks
- fat acceptance and pandering to China with the fat chink female sidekick
- fuck rich people they all have blood on their hands!!! in the casino speech

..but by far the worst offender is the purple haired feminist admiral (pic related). Her EVERY SINGLE LINE is one of the following:

- fuck men
- fuck DRUMPF
- we are the #resistance!!! go to the street, kick out Trump and restore the US Republic

She was out of place to an extent that took you out of the movie. Like a different movie unrelated to SW was spliced in.

Can't we have space adventures without heavy-handed political commentary? The OT and prequels had none of that crap. This director will also make Episode X - XII. Fuck me.

But you see that one captain guy getting blown up and everything, what more do you want?

...

But there are a lot of white pilots.

Luke's role in creating Kylo Ren is 100000000% out of character and really improbable based on an entire trilogy of movies dedicated to the subject.

How much this bothers you determines how much you dislike it.

>Comparing a man who received literal YEARS of training to become a Jedi to a stronk independant woman who's just a master of the force

Anakin had incredible potential, and required training to tap into it.

MaRey Sue is just good BECAUSE
