RIP New Republic

>Sees Starkiller destroy the Hosnian System in TFA
>Participates in multiple threads hoping that a weakened New Republic participates in TLJ
>Sees TLJ
>Opening crawl: "The First Order reigns. Having decimated the peaceful Republic, Supreme Leader Snoke now deploys his merciless legions to seize military control of the galaxy"
Another reminder that Disney is shoehorning in the "Rebels vs. Empire" theme, we don't have anything exploring the military of the New Republic, and we won't get a capital ship battle in the third movie now.

For gods sake they didn’t even explain fuck all who smoke was and how he founded the first order before killing him

OH WELL! GUESS YOUR RETARDED BOBA FETT TATTOOES AND ENDLESS PILES OF MERCHANDISE SUDDENLY SEEM LIKE THE POOR DECISIONS OF A MANCHILD...

They'll just pretend that there are Resistance cells outside of TLJ.

Well they didn't have to explain everything about Snoke in the movie but given how involved he seems to be in the background lore; e.g. him being alive during the Republic and the Empire and his turning of Kylo Ren to the dark side, they could've at least dropped a few lines of dialogue to hint at these things.

>Resistance cells
I really wish they could've called them anything other than "The Resistance" since it was just Leia's personally funded army.

>Opening crawl: "The First Order reigns. Having decimated the peaceful Republic, Supreme Leader Snoke now deploys his merciless legions to seize military control of the galaxy"

Cunts
TFA implied the new order didn't rule the whole galaxy.
I liked the perspective of a battle between the new order and the new republic.
But the cunts apparently kill that idea in the opening crawl.

Thats because he was a mind controlled vessel for Darth Darth Binks

> the military of the New Republic
The new republic doesn't have military. They're peaceful, didn't you heard?

>watch RotJ
For gods sake they didn’t even explain fuck all who the emperor was and how he founded the galactic empire before killing him

>having a military is ebil according to Disney

Literally the most retarded context in the history of cinema, this new trilogy

Why did they have to rehash the tired Rebels vs Empire storyline? Why couldn't the big bad be some galactic war mongering species or something

But don't you see? It is about that. Evil white men.

They had a huge fleet in the Hosnian system

What happened to itt?

So they had only one "huge" fleet and kept it all only in one system. The Nu Republic even dumber than I thought.

They didn't have to explain the Emperor. He was established as the strings behind Vader and the background mastermind. He was a bit mysterious in that he was a Dark side user like Vader but there didn't feel like there needed to be any loose hanging background lore that needed to be explained. Snoke on the other hand has been canonically alive since the prequels. Luke is aware of who Snoke is, even as he trained Ben Solo. He's also someone whose mysteriously risen to the fore to lead the remnants of the Empire as the First Order. He comes out of nowhere whereas in the Original trilogy, the Emperor is established as the head of state that overthrew the Republic. It sounds fairly mundane compared to Snoke's sudden appearance and control of the remnants of the Empire.

I'll probably get some flak quoting Wookiepedia but considering how autistic they are in record keeping Star Wars, I'll trust them on this one.
>"Thirty years after the Battle of Endor, it was still the largest military force in the galaxy, but nevertheless was a fraction of the size of the Republic Navy during the Clone Wars. A substantial portion of the Starfleet was stationed in the Hosnian system when the system was targeted and destroyed by the First Order's Starkiller Base. Hundreds of ships were destroyed during the attack."

its maoism in action, eternal rebellion against those who rule in heaven

>the emperor
>needs an explenation why he reigns over the empire
>his direct succeors doesn*t need one either for some ambigous reason
>even if it contradicts everything that was established about the shit and the empire in the previous moives
>even retards are capable of understanding the plotholes Snokes apperance and position creates

>maoism
More like an extension of the "David vs. Goliath" trope that's existed in literature throughout many different human cultures. People love to root for the underdog which is why Disney decided to rehash a somewhat similar political and military environment in the Sequel trilogy

The shills are out in force trying to defend this shit lmao

OMFG THIS MOVIE WAS GOOD LOOK AT THE ROTTEN TOMATOES CRITICS SCORE AS PROOF!!!!

>TLJ having a lower user score than Justice League

This, movie is pure propaganda

>Destroy like 6 planets
>That somehow destroys the all of the galaxy's military capability
>"I-it's b-because t-they tried to make the military smaller!"
Holy fuck, the new canon is so fucking stupid in trying to justify the First Order trying to take over the galaxy just to make it Empire vs Rebels again. That is beyond retarded.

Fuck it, I hope they do an asspull and just have Kamino pull Clones out of their asses to combat the First Order just so we can see clones again.

They probably thought that having a big galactic war would've brought back memories of the Prequel Trilogy even though they had some cool set pieces like the Battle of Coruscant.

They should've just done big republic vs small terrorists. You could even do some real life political commentary with that.

Wasn't one of the complaints of the Prequel trilogy, or at least The Phantom Menace, the fact that they included politics into the plot? That sounds too risky for Disney to do.
