Is it time to finally accept that the OT was the perfect dice roll? The prequel trilogy was bad and the sequel trilogy is turning out even worse. Everyone has their own idea of how Star Wars should be, but I don't think it will ever be possible to make another good star wars.

Just got back from TLJ there was this guy who kept clapping at all the action scene scenes trying to get others to clap with him but failed miserably. It was hilarious.
I'll have to watch the last jedi again to really tell if it was good or not but it was miles ahead of the force awakens and that was apparent from the start.

TLJ did something I have never experienced before: There were a lot of things I liked, and yet I still hated it. There'd be a shitton of things that would get my spirit up and I'd think "yeah, ok" but then I would get grounded by how shitty this movie was.
I expected the porgs to be fucking annoying, but they weren't. I expected a whirlwind of ass-pull powers from Rey, but they didn't do it. They killed Snoke. Vice Admiral purple hair had her idiocy blown up (literally) in her face. The finn/rose sidequest failed.
Despite every good little twist, the movie stunk like a fucking diaper. The cherry on top was them killing one of the most iconic heroes for sci-fi fans, leaving one character (whose actress is dead) to remind us of the OT. All just to say "THESE ARE THE HEROES NOW. DEAL WITH IT."
Well, congrats; your heroes are just "meh" with the star being a Mary Sue. You kept one member of the trio alive, and her actress died from cocaine.
If you kept Luke alive, MAYBE you could have gotten an "ok" rating from fans, but you killed him and you killed him in the worst way possible.

Came to say this. I really liked Rogue One. It had muh stronk female lead but she had a decent back story so it made sense that she was a good fighter. Why can't I just get that?

Rogue One was NOT amazing but I enjoyed it intensely because the makers "got" why people loved anh and gave us a massive 2.5 hour blow job with all of us cumming a gallon of jizz when Darth Vader is wrecking those rebels in the ship.

Luke's entire character is wrong. You are talking about the guy who went on a suicide misson because he sensed a small measure of good in his father, a family member whose regarded as one of the most evil men that exists and you're telling me he was trying kill his own nephew, a family member because he sense some evil in him? This movie is full of plot holes and some of the worst writing I've seen in recent memory.

Explain why TFA is better than TLJ. TFA is a pointless movie as it is just a redux of ANH. TLJ at least felt original from the start.

It's more Sci-Fantasy than Science Fiction, but that does little to dilute it's importance. It showed, in a legitimate way, that paranormal/fantasy elements could exist in a futuristic scifi. Star Trek had literal God and Spiritual Beings - hamfisted saturday-morning cartoon-level of fantasy.

the prequel trilogy was only bad because the directing was bad and there wasn't anybody there with the balls (or possibly influence) to properly advice george lucas. the phantom menace had the pieces to make a really good movie but was ruined by a small number of very poor design choices. episode 2 and 3 were largely rewritten in a panic and are likely a lot different than the original design goal for said movies. I feel bad for george because he fucked it up.
There is character development.
No plot in TLJ had literally no bearing on the outcome of the movie. There weren’t plot holes all throughout the movie. It had consistent themes. Something happened in TFA. It had better cinematography. It had better sound design. It didn’t have “jokes”obviously added in after principle filming.
Other than Kylo, you could have any character swap positions with any other character in TLJ and not notice. Like if Poe went to the casino instead of Finn, it’s the same movie. If Leia rammed the ship, it’s the same movie. If chewy stood in front of the gate, it’s the same movie.

Yup. Rey had a motivation (a thin one) in TLJ she asks a hole about her parents and when Kylo tells her she literally shrugs.
Finn plans on running away and decided to make a stand.
In TLJ no one changed in any way, they all regressed.

Alright this is solid bait but I'll bite. First character is Poe, resistance fighter okay best pilot whatever, gets captured, gets saved, crash, fucks off then reappears on a new planet and nothing new is developed throughout the movie that we don't know. Whole movie all we learn about the first major character is that he is a good pilot.
Second character is Rey who is the worst developed character to come out of star wars. Magically develops force powers and ass kicking powers. Big fucking whoop, that makes me so interested.
Finally Finn, leaves first order because they commit a massacre on jakku. Five minutes after deciding to leave he commits a massacre towards his fellow stormtroopers and officers. LOL and this is somehow better character development than TLJ.
Talking plot holes, remember how Poe got off Jakku? Well neither do I. Remember how there was this republic that got blown up? What the fuck was that and why should anyone care? Blue lightsaber that fell down a hole 30 years ago? Story for another time friend.
Consistent themes, again I'll refer to Finn with the massacres, how is that in any way consistent?
TLJ had better use of cinematography. I don't recall a single interesting use of cinematography in TFA. The reflections scene with Rey was neat, in fact the whole island planet and force stuff was cool. Rey and Kylo's force connection was interesting as well. The fight on the salt planet where the dirt was red was great.
Sound design I can't comment on. Neither movies had a particularly interesting score either. Jokes were plenty forced in both movies why bring it up?
Finn + Rose going together was important for both their development. In fact if he didn't go he wouldn't try to sacrifice himself and she wouldn't try to save him. Why would Chewie stand in front of the gate? Whole point was a force projection stalling. Chewie would get blown up and not stall?
TLJ wasn't amazing but it was better than TFA.
