Snoke was nothing more than a wealthy opportunistic warlord that played both sides

Snoke was nothing more than a wealthy opportunistic warlord that played both sides.

wow so deep 10/10 movie

Why would the emperor allow such a strong force user to live when he went through the trouble of killing all the Jedi?

He didn't know

...

Why was he scarred and deformed?
Where did the money to fund The New Order and build literally the most advanced warships and military installations in the galaxy come from?
Who taught him the ways of the Force?
What was his end game?

Sometimes old people are scarred and deformed.
His own wealth combined with the remnants of the empire.
He taught himself, as we've seen others do.
To stay in power.

Old people are not scared and deformed for no reason at all.
How did he acquire his wealth and the wealth of the Empire
Like who? And don't say Rey
If he wanted to stay in power and rule over the Republic why did he give the order for 4 planets to be destroyed? Seems counter productive.

Why have they made a big deal out of old, white men dying out in both films?

All those details need their own book.
Yes Rey, and other non aligned force users.

Hmmmm...

Would have made an interesting story. Oh fuck, never mind, I'm not gonna go see it.

All the casino stuff was meant to help us realize this

Good. It's not for you.

...

If Palpatine didn’t know and this guy is powerful/masterful enough with the dark side of the force to hide it from Palpatine then why was this character not important enough to have two lines of backstory?

First, because it's not his story. Second, probably no one in the movie knew the truth either. Snoke seems more masterful at manipulation than force using.

...

Dying easily does not equate to worthlessness, or else Palpatine would be nothing more than "a wealthy opportunistic warlord". Isn't Snoke the first Jedi to turn the order into the twisted thing it became later what with kidnapping children and all?

He was obviously Darth Plaeguis but last movie scrapped this and killed him like a bitch because he's a FUCKING OLD WHITE MALE. Fuck the last jedi shit.

He's not white, lol

He's just nobody to these characters. I'm sure he will be in a book.

He's an evil alien though.

He is, open your eyes.

Darth Plaeguis is an evil alien too.

Why does it have to be Plagueis?

certified big baller

Turns out Goldmember was more important to the plot of Austin Powers than this dude was to his movie.

>First, because it's not his story.

Shittiest attempt to defend this trainwreck of a movie I've seen so far. George Lucas was a masterful world builder who would provide backstory to his characters even the secondary or tertiary characters. Snoke was important enough to warrant some explanation.

He looks British.

Any pics of his teeth to confim?

>Literally 0% importance

WHY ARE YOU ASKING THESE LOGICAL QUESTIONS? WHO THE FUCK CARES WHO SNOKE WAS THE MOVIE ISN'T ABOUT HIM!

Plagiarist was killed by his own apprentice. It's a Sith right of mastery. Sheev killed Plagueis

Here's some merchandise worth buying. You paying attention, Disney?

>LOGICAL QUESTIONS

autist school finished for Xmas already?

It wasn't his movie

Sure bud.

It simply wasn't. I understand I you wanted it to be and was disappointed it wasn't, but it's just not his movie.

Did All that info come in the films?

Don't try to come up with an explanation about this guy and how he existed at his strength when Palps was around.

The writers certainly didn't.

It's easily explained
The emperor wasn't as strong and cared about different things.

How did Luke, Obi wan, and Leia remain undetected?

The emperor didn't have force detecting device.

This.

Here goes nothing!

Snoke is an ancient Sith Force Vampire who was defeated and fell into a near death state. His place of rest was on the edge of known space, the uncharted portion of the Galaxy. When Sheev called for Order 66 to be terminated, the mass disturbance in the force and amount of power returned to it caused Snoke to wake. He sat in his coffin/tomb slowly regenerating. Eventually Sheev felt his power and began searching him out but was unable to find the source of this power before his death. The few secret Imperial loyalists whose mission was to seek this source of power came upon Snoke and they worked to create the First Order.

Did I do it guys? I'm not a writer but I did it.

Not bad

Maybe he wasn't strong at all when the emperor lived. Maybe he's just the Forces answer to Luke as Rey is to Ren.

Excuse me that sounds interesting get out of here

But Luke had been around for a while before and only gave up and withdrew from the Force?

He exiled himself

With Sheev and Vader dead, there was a loss in balance so a dark side user could have been awakened to be equal to Luke which was the only living light sider we know

Luke was detected after he was trained
Obi wan specifically went into hiding and suppressed his power level
Leia never gave an indication of being very force sensitive and is untrained

>Why would the emperor allow such a strong force user to live when he went through the trouble of killing all the Jedi?
How would he know? He didn't know where Obi-Wan, yoda, etc were.

This

>Luke was detected after he was trained
Luke was detected when he got close enough to Vader to be detected.

Jedi obviously can't be sensed from anywhere in the universe, otherwise Snoke could have found Rey just by looking.

I thought that was pretty clear considering the movie was about balance. Snoke and Luke are definitely foils to one another, both being Kylo Ren's failed masters, and with Luke training Rey like Snoke was supposed to be training Kylo.

>Snoke was actually a force sensitive Royal guard for the Emperor, who managed to hide his abilities
>his scars came from the royal guard academy
>After the Emperors death, he took everything he learned about the force from watching the Emperor in his personal life, maybe came across some teachings Sheev wrote down, and used it to try and destroy the Jedi (and establish a new order)
>like Sheev, he became physically corrupted by the dark side which is why he looks old and fragile

See, that doesn't really elevate the movie for me. It barely changes anything.

I'm not trying to save that mess of a film. I just think it would be a nice backstory for him. 8 was literally wasted potential:the movie

If you insist. I thought it was pretty great.

>Snoke was nothing more than a wealthy opportunistic warlord that played both sides
He was a much stronger force user than Rey or Kylo

>I thought it was pretty great.
Why?

lol nerd, nobody cares! the story is about Rey and Kylo! :^)

>How did Luke, Obi wan, and Leia remain undetected?

>THERE IS A GREAT DISTURBANCE IN THE FORCE.
>WE HAVE A NEW ENEMY, LUKE SKYWALKER.

That's from Empire, which is after Luke got close enough for Vader to sense the force in him.

I like it a lot

I don't think so. He would like us to think that.

>Why was he scarred and deformed?
lol who cares
>Where did the money to fund The New Order and build literally the most advanced warships and military installations in the galaxy come from?
lol who cares
>Who taught him the ways of the Force?
lol who cares
>What was his end game?
lol who cares
Just turn off your brain, bro, it's a good movie.

>“I do think it’s interesting,” Johnson said. “I never want to poo-poo the fans coming up with theories. It’s part of the fun of being a Star Wars fan. If there is a place for it in another story, I hope it gets told.”
>Telling it himself in The Last Jedi would have felt like he was shoehorning information on the audience that would have become a distraction. “It would have stopped any of these scenes dead cold if he had stopped and given a 30-second speech about how he’s Darth Plagueis,” Johnson said. “It doesn’t matter to Rey. If he had done that, Rey would have blinked and said, ‘Who?’ And the scene would have gone on.”
>Before moving on himself, Johnson quickly added, “And I’m not saying he’s Darth Plagueis!”
A 152 minute long movie and they couldn't find room for a throwaway remark hinting at his stubborn resistance to death and/or Sidious's failed attempt on his life. Don't want to spoil the BIG SURPISE in two fucking years that he's back with another new scar to add to his collection. This reads a lot like PR talk. It's blatantly obvious they wanted exposition on Snoke to be a hook to push ticket sales for episode 9, I wouldn't doubt Rian's hands were tied and The Mouse literally wouldn't let him elaborate further. Too often we forget how directors are at the mercy of execs who make the finall call on everything. Two movies now based on a hollow foundation and empty promises, and brainless normies eat it up because MUH STUH WUHZ. I'm glad The Last Jedi got the grilling it deserved by critical fans, even if it did little to stop Disney from filling its coffers.

Sounds like you don't get it

...

Ugly humanoids don't deserve more screentime.

better than anything the new trilogy hacks have come up with so far

Why does his name sound like Snake in the past tense?

It basically had every character go through a wide range of morality, with 'evil' characters doing good things like killing Snoke, and have 'good' characters do evil things like try to kill Ben Solo. The entire film was about balance and they let characters transcend their assumed roles this way. And for the first time in a long time, every character pretty much understands eachother. There are no real secrets between anyone in this movie, Kylo knows all about Rey and she knows all about Kylo, in a way that has them deeply sympathizing with eachother and at points defending eachother. However at the end of the day these people still are who they are, and still end up fighting again in the end even though they understand eachother. The plot deliberately takes Star Wars in a fresh direction, with a main villain who's intent is to disrupt the status quo, and they really loosened the setting from some of its traditional rules in a way that matches the OT and PT's theme of the potential evil of strict dogma. Though it was definitely a Disney movie, they captured the spirit of Star Wars and finally got back to some feelings we haven't felt since the OT regarding Luke and the force. Each character got a lot of play and the movie was chock full of new special effects and action moments that felt really fresh. I understand the complaints, but they simply didn't effect my viewing and I enjoyed it. Overall a good time. It is what it is.

Why indeed.

But he's right. No one except a vague chunk the audience cares if it's Darth Plageuis, it's not relevant to the movie or the characters in them.

He's right that most people don't care if it's Darth Plagueis, but most people wanted at least some explanation as to who the fuck he was. The idea that the only reason people didn't like this movie is because it didn't line up with their headcanons is retarded.

Wasn't this confirmed fake?
