>not dead
thats just because he hadn't made dinner yet

I can't believe someone is still willing to make threads for something as dead as prequel

>4/4/17: Not dead! I wanted to end the hiatus on April 1 to cause maximum confusion, but problems sadly came up.

>Barring disaster, updates should still resume this month. Trying to create something good enough to make up for a hiatus is a dangerous, slippery slope.
Can't fool me this time Kazerad

I still have hope

...

I like this image.

But yeah, I followed his streams for a while, and I don't really understand what he's doing. Apparently he's been waiting for over a year for some person to finish work on a big project, but that's dumb. If you ask somebody to help with your work and they practically drop off the face of the work and one year later have nothing to show for it, you don't assume "it's almost ready just another week pls."

It's never going to happen. This person is never going to complete their work and Kaz will never resume Prequel.

I think people would forgive him if he flatly started the thing up again. Holy shit, even basic updates is better than positively nothing.

Kazerad if you're reading this, I live in Chile and a huge earthquake (8+) is about to go down, I will probably die in this. Will I get to see a new Prequel update before that? I been following the comic since 2011, first time I saw it posted around here.
help

Not to mention, after the shitshow that was the Homestuck "ending", fuck other peoples work. I'd rather have a regular update from the actual author than some outsourced fancy shit.

>I think people would forgive him if he flatly started the thing up again

How do you figure?

The readership's gone, man- they're not coming back.

But why, though?

You will never see the update, because Kaz isn't doing the update and he has no control of when it'll get done. The person who IS doing the update doesn't own Prequel and likely doesn't care at all what happens to it if it never updates. The person who is doing the update probably has a life and won't even get around to finishing the work.

That's the stupid thing. Kaz has taken his whole project and handed it to somebody who doesn't give a fuck about it, and he refuses to move past the person blocking the comic from starting again. I can't tell if Kaz just doesn't want to do the comic at all, or if he really believes he's invested too much time into not updating to give up on the hiatus now.

If he stopped trying to top himself with the interactive shit and just did normal updates for like six months I think he'd find it again. There is no update that justifies a year and a half hiatus, but by resuming and going consistently he can build some good will back again.

This thing has been going on for years. I have paid it no attention, aside from its beginning. Why is it worth giving attention to?

>I can't tell if Kaz just doesn't want to do the comic at all, or if he really believes he's invested too much time into not updating to give up on the hiatus now.

This behavior really reminds me of a kind of anxiety riddled friend who will paralyze themselves like that without someone forcing them to do shit. Problem is Kaz likely has nobody irl who cares about this to push him on this

Do you think he has the next updates done too so he can have a buffer after the flash or do you think that he's just been fucking about this whole time and has nothing to show for it as he makes money off of autistic furries in a diner?

I think it's because of when the updates stopped. It was right as the main character was preparing to break into a dangerous mage's house. The comic stopped updating at this major cliffhanger.

But man. In a year's time Kaz could have hired someone to animate a fucking fifteen minute cartoon about it. Whoever is doing his update is a total washout.

The comic relies on fan input, right? I'd say that's an excuse to not be doing any work on the comic, so if he ever updates, we'll wind up waiting again for the next one.

I can understand that. I'm still following OoTS

Yeah but OotS has had updates.

I just wish that it did it more often. I was one of the buggers who Kickstartered it. I'm proud to own those books.

Bad news guys

I read it once a year, it makes it feel more substantial to do a Christmas binge of everything over the last year.

My sides.

I believe in Kaz

I try to stay updated, but do a full re-read every year. I mostly want to see Redcloak be more ruthless, but the rest is good too.

Point is, though, it's not Kaz we're waiting on. It's whoever Kaz outsourced this update to. It's a nobody we've never heard of, who has never in their life made anything we know about. If they finish this update, it'll be the first thing they've done and they'll have taken more than a year to do it.

Felix Cosgrove didn't take this long to make "Double King", and "Double King" is traditionally animated.

I've worked with the kind of people Kaz is waiting on now. I know them so well. They show up on day one with this bright and shining attitude, like they're going to be your top worker and they're so proud to be here. But then two weeks in you notice they aren't having fun, and every week after that something has "come up" that prevented them from making any progress on the project you gave them. Then one day they're just gone. They leave your company or give up on the contract and vanish, wasting all your time.

You can't be lenient with those people. They will fail you 99% of the time. You have to be weary of them and have a back-up prepared in case they flake out, and on top of that you shouldn't give them some crucial thing to do either. Let them work on something someone else can take over if they vanish. Only let your reliable workers handle the critical stuff.

Double King took two years.

It hasn't been two years yet

What I'm trying to figure out at this point is what the fuck is left to be done, if they thought they'd be ready for the first of the month. I figure it is going to be one of those minigame things he loves so much, which means to be that close to done it is probably playable as it is. What's the hold up, some easter eggs that need hiding or something?

It will be, though, because Kaz has hired a flake to finish his update. Kaz keeps promising he'll get his update out "this month", and you know why? It's because the person he's hired keeps making it sound like the work is aaaalmost done.

Odds are, if it's a programming thing, the project is stalled out at UI design or some other boring thing nobody enjoys doing. The person hopped on board for fun, as soon as the fun part of the project ended, so did work on the project. As long as Kaz is willing to believe that a work week of programming takes a year to finish, we're going to keep seeing, "this month I'm sure" on every update he makes.

Realistically it COULD be done in a work week, I bet, but it would take a real programmer and not the flake Kaz hired.

>What's the hold up, some easter eggs that need hiding or something?
No, no. It's almost definitely something boring and unfun to work on. Something that somebody very serious would have to take over and do. The stuff that is done is, I assure, the enjoyable part of the program that virtually any programmer would do if you asked them to.

I want to get off mister kazerad's wild ride ?

There's no getting off the ride, user

what if we end up getting some sort of prequel game like a full 10 hour long game

You know what Prequel remind me of? Yandere Simulator. It's practically the same situation, only Yandere Simulator is so much worse.

Yandere Dev keeps doing updates every month where he talks about what he's adding, but every time he explains some new "feature", it's some really easy to implement thing and none of the basic structure that would make a game possible. Month after month Yandere Dev does this, adding exciting words to a blank slate without forming a sentence, and people pay him handsomely to do it.

I think Yandere Sim is probably in the same place Kaz's update is at. I bet you anything Kaz keeps looking at the progress, and he sees words on the chalkboard like "phantasmagoria" and "rhododendron", and he's really excited to see what it all looks like when the words are finally organized into a sentence he can use.

But his programmer doesn't know how to use those words in a sentence. The completed sentence will never come. Every update, Kaz will see another word written on the board and he'll just keep thinking a lot of work is being done, and he'll keep telling us, "nearly there, guys! Pretty soon we're going to have a sentence that properly uses 'whom', 'dendrite', and 'curmudgeon' in a cohesive product!"

>The Bitcher 3: Wild Cat

I'd be up for it.

Would it conform to the lore? If not, it would be average at best.

What a silly question user. Of course he won't.

Mr. Kaz says the ride never ends!

Actually, does anyone here know anything about ES lore? I know I should ask Sup Forums, but that place is becoming worse with every AAA release.

I found prequel a couple weeks before updates stopped. I went on an archive binge then was sorely disappointed.

>it's not Kaz we're waiting on
>It's whoever Kaz outsourced this update to

I remain convinced that there is no such third party and Kaz just bit off more than he could chew.

Any specific questions?

I remember some of the basics: the world is essentially a video game given form, and individuals with actualization into that reality can modify their own lives to essentially mirror the player's experience, giving them godlike powers as the world sees it. There's a whole bunch of gods that try to see life's course goes well like the traditional view of gods, and a whole bunch of other, more proactive gods who generally have fragile egos and like to meddle with the world for giggles, throwing chunks of moon around, introducing vampirism to the world through the power of rape, spitefully giving a whole race of people ashen skin, and giving people powerful magical trinkets out of sheer boredom. The world gets gradually shittier as various demonic evils try to scourge the world and the mortal inhabitants thereof get into progressively larger pissing contests over whether or not elves or whoever are inherently the chosen people of God, and the only people who can change that are prisoners who the gods assign a role in prophecy and basically sit back and let them turn the prophecy true through a system of mantling: "walk like them until they walk like you" and stuff.

There, a lore talk with as much thought put into it as a Prequel thread. Anybody else can and will do better than that, but there you go.

>Mr. Kaz says the ride never ends!
It's more like the ride broke down 15 months ago and there's a sign saying maintenance is ongoing the ride will be working soon honest.

He straight-up said in a stream it will be the last day of the month because even if he finishes early, h'll use the remaining time to test it. Have faith, boyos.

Will we get to talk to the guard with the stare of a man who must explain to his paraplegic daughter that she'll never grow up to be a ballet dancer?

>story about a sad cat and her lizard gf
You already got your prequel game, user.

Wait, is the "ride" the hiatus/bitching about the hiatus or is it actually doing the comic? I've lost track of this metaphor.

I half suspect it will be an actual Oblivion mod.

I just want to know if this is even close to canonical or not.

You seem to be accurate in the latest incarnation, but the whole thing is a bit more complex than that. Some people can do the CHIM console command shit, but the PCs are entirely separate to that and are separate to anything else. That's why they can change everything, because they are completely outside of the gods/demons plans.

What would've happened if you chose the abandoned Playground for Grampa Mae to warn you about? Would you end up at the Mill instead?

>The comic relies on fan input, right?
Only partially
Fan input has changed some major things, but mostly it's just little interactions with Katia.

Going to Kvatch, for instance, was always going to happen - but stopping by the ruins was a maybe

Nah, Kaz big updates always a group effort. You can see them listed in the credits, it's more than just Kaz/Cider/Chmarr

The "console command" joke is only a joke. Have access to the console and the construction set makes it so that you essentially have all the CHIM powers. At any given time you mold the fictional world to fit your interest, and that's what CHIM does, but there are actual canon entities, like Vivec, who achieved CHIM in setting.

I think Talos achieved CHIM too, didn't? Which is why he was able to retcon Cyrodil into an idyllic forest?

>I just want to know if this is even close to canonical or not.
In some ways, it very much is, yes
Kaz includes a lot of meta humor from in-game mechanics and brings up ES lore from outside Oblivion a fair bit.

>mfw it's a 20 minute top tier quality sfm porn with voice acting

The broken ride with its lies is the comic, however the ride which is talking about the broken ride is its own ride that has expanded to fill all space.

It's depiction of TES Mysticism is canon-defining quality.

The "console command" thing is the easiest way to explain it. It's closer to lucid dreaming in that what you want to happen, happens. Your power grows according to how many others believe in you. This is why the Dwemer disappeared, one group of them created a "No" robot using a god's heart to power it and "No'd" themselves out of existence. If it came back again, it could shatter the entire world.

Talos is many things. He is the latest incarnation of Lorkhan. He is the combination of 3 souls that survived death and merged.

Prequel is one of those things I lost investment in and now occasionally check up on the site if ever I'm bored and have exhausted all the things I'm doing.

'Hm, I'm bored and my other comics haven't updated yet as they actually update frequently but are delayed for now... guess I could chedk Prequel'

Much like its heroine, this comic is a complete failure.

all I really want is that these threads don't get banned, really
I still don't trust /trash/ not to end up like /fur/, I don't want to post there

>implying /trash/ isn't already /fur/
It was /fur/ from day one.

Hiroshimoot is too moneygrubbing to do something like Moot did to /fur/, so you're safe to post on /trash/.

I still hold hopes moot will come back
I'm not even an oldfag, oldest happening I remember is just /wsg/ being born and ruining /gif/ for me

Moot will never come back. His ego was destroyed after his children rebelled against his shameful behaviour.
The GG event changed Sup Forums for better or worse, due to Moots inability to cover his tracks.

Probably not, no.
I remember when he was saying that he's just trying to make it "complete", not make up for the hiatus.
Lately he's been saying that he's starting to have doubt if it will make up for the hiatus or not.

Kaz get your fucking shit together, no, nothing you could ever conceivably make in your financial situation could ever make up for the hiatus and your failings, just finish the shit you started so that it's acceptable and move on.

God I hope that disgusting hugbox in the last update's disqus page dies once and forever once(if) you actually manage to update.

The father is forever gone, cast out by his children.
The new custodian is just that, and nothing more, this land is ours now.

It's almost exactly the same as Neo from the matrix, but with a dream instead of a computer. When you achieve 'Chim', you become The One.

Fuck, this got me
Kek'd

m00t was right

GG turned Sup Forums into reddit for edgy teenage conservatives

GG did corrupt things, but how he handled the controversy was wrong. If he hadn't silenced things, hadn't become involved personally it wouldn't have been as bad as it was.

What I remember is Kaz saying he was waiting on a painting from Makkon back around the 1 year anniversary

Not like it's a new anime or anything.

Is THAT all he's waiting for? Really? An artist to deliver a single image? That can't be right. A hack programmer who won't deliver on the UI I could believe, but if we've been waiting for a year and a half for some unaffiliated person to paint a goddamned picture then the problem is with Kaz.

I just finished reading, very happy to see a thread up. I thought I'd have a shit ton of content considering when it started, but it was short!

I don't know why you guys want moot back. He was never at the helm of Sup Forums's greatness. In fact the place got a whole lot less creative and less influential the more he tried to take control of it.

His early methodology was to nuke and purge every problem, which is why when Sup Forums got into controversial waters, those things blew up in moot's face. And don't even get me started on all the "moderators versus the world, we need to uphold global rule 6" bullshit you saw a few years ago. That was terrible. The mods did not know what a "quality post" was and it was the worst thing ever letting them ban people for it.

Ooh, I knew it was going to be shorter than you'd think when I started noticing how far apart updates were spaced. I'd see the dates at the top of the page and realized that when I got to the end, I was in for a very long wait for the next one.

>cue the graph that shows the story is taking place over 3-4 days so far
>6 years in the making

I though it was just a big update or event or something he had been preparing to make up for the hiatus but that took him much more time than he planned so the hiatus extended and he wanted to make up for it and...

Honestly I just can't help I was terribly late to the party, holding onto moot is hoping that I'd get to experience old, fun Sup Forums

But back on track: what else have we gleamed off the streams so far? imgur.com/a/DFMru

*can't help but feel I was terribly late to the party

...

>Honestly I just can't help I was terribly late to the party, holding onto moot is hoping that I'd get to experience old, fun Sup Forums
The irony of that feeling is that moot was sort of the end of the party. It was 2009 when moderators started showing up places you never saw them before, and there was no plan. moot just gave 'em powers and told them to go nuts. They banned goddamned everything. /tg/ was sterilized to the bedrock and never recovered.

Everything after that was just marathons of pleading with moot to calm the fuck down and give everyone a little slack. I think by the time GG happened, he was only just barely implementing a policy where moderators had to be consistent instead of randomly banning people for things they didn't like, and that was partially only because the MLP fandom exploded in his face and it was clear he wouldn't be able to wage those wars in the future.

Any Requests?

That sandals with socks wearing motherfucker better update with something this month.

Weon marica

>mods have more power and synergy than ever
>newfags have essentially reshaped and destroyed Sup Forums's cultural identity.
>this land is ours now.

Lusty Argonian maid.

an update

Kaz needs to include a timeskip. Doesn't have to be years, but a few months in universe even might be nice. You know, if we got updates again. Which we won't.

>nuke and purge every problem
No shit. At least /vp/ settled down over time and became a tolerable board (still miss the old Sup Forums pokemon general threads though).

But Global Rule 15 and its associated board were a huge overreaction and a massive mistake.

Quarantine boards are never good. Especially if they are just made to appease whiny cunts who are upset about what cartoons people talk about on a cartoon board.

Katia working a Dairy Queen

Anything involving the Argonian chick doing suggestive things. Thin cloth drapings are wanted, but unnecessary.

Alternatively, draw a Dwemer robot wiping your least favourite Sup Forums related thing out existence by saying NO!

Katia putting pineapple on pizza

hell no
that'd be terrible

Katia rocking the "long time unemployed" look. No effort clothing, unkempt hair, poor hygene. The works.

kek, I just read the whole thing this past weekend and didn't even looked at the dates other than the last and first posts. Still more updates than helvetica.
You realize they are only a few days from the oblivion crisis, right? The event the comic constantly gives off the idea of predating. And besides, Katia hasn't developed enough to get anything out of that in a satisfactory manner.
