Here's the thing I don't get about the Trek series, I'm not a Trekkie myself but I find it odd that current "Nerd Culture" absolutely despises it despite Star Trek supposedly doing the whole acceptance thing they are into decades and decades ago when it was actually considered ground breaking on television.
It's the same with with women, or better still, teenagers in general. I can't even begin to tell you how many people I've met that told me they like history or philosophy when their knowledge of it was shallow at best.
