good music and has a nice warm feel to it

desu one of my favourite portrayals of Scrooge.

The fact that scrooge plays it straight, he acts like the muppets are totally normal

come one the patrick stewart one is the best if you dont include bill murray

It's hard to top Michael Caine as Scrooge.

When I met Michael Caine to talk about playing Scrooge, one of the first things he said was: “I’m going to play this movie like I’m working with the Royal Shakespeare Company. I will never wink, I will never do anything Muppety. I am going to play Scrooge as if it is an utterly dramatic role and there are no puppets around me.”

Anyone else still butthurt that they cut the girlfriend's song? Like, I hated it as a kid but as an adult it's hard to ignore that they cut out one of the most key moments to Scrooge's development.

This.

He is great, you can see he is enjoying the ride.

Also, the movie makes the right jokes at the righr moments, making enjoyable but not killing any of the seriousness of the story.

>If you want to find the measure of a man, you simply count his friends
I hate it.

Why the hell would you cut "the love is gone"?

what sucks is that in the new version, Disney cuts out the whole relationship with Belle and the song she sings because it's too serious or sad for kids. That pisses me off b/c Belle was hot AF

Even Sup Forums can make great memes from the Muppets

But I do include.

Tim Curry and Michael Caine were the god tier castings for Treasure Island and Christmas Carol respectively, they both give it 100% and its glorious.

Plus the songs are brilliant:

kids think it's boring

She's still in it. Her song is cut, which is the whole point of her character.

I LIGE DA MUBBITS DEYR FRUM MUH CHILEHOOD

well maybe people need to start smacking their kids again.
hell I saw this movie in theaters when I was a kid and recall an ADD little turd getting punched and then escorted out of the theater to spare everyone of it's crying fit.

that patrick stewart one, despite the 100$ budget, is really great, my fav one.

>Rather than deliberately trying to resemble either the 1938 MGM version or the George C. Scott made-for-TV version in the cheerfulness and "Christmassy" feeling of their settings, the 1999 film takes as its inspiration to the classic 1951 film version with Alastair Sim in the grimness of some of its scenes and set design, although it still includes many cheerful moments. It includes three scenes almost always omitted from other adaptations which are the lighthouse, coal miners, and sailors on a ship at sea, by showing montages with different groups of people in different sections of the country singing Silent Night. The scene of the young couple who are relieved at Scrooge's death is also taken from the original story.

i'm interested but can't find the torrent

>tfw pic related is unironically the most accurate screen adaptation to the book, even including the Ghost of Christmas Past's changing faces and the hundreds of chained ghosts roaming London

No, the Mr. Magoo version is best of all time.

Not even close.

it has many problems like bob krachet saying "I WANT THE WHOLE DAY OFF" instead of "MAY I HAVE PART OF CHRISTMAS DAY OFF PLEASE?"
and having ebenezer scrooge's nephew making fun of him instead of defending him.
also scrooge is too repentant while talking to the ghost of christmas future.
also the movie ends to the credits as the last song is starting.

That dank fucking Christmas Present ghost, though.
Santa Clause was shit compared to this guy.

Is this actually worth checking out or is it some slapstick bullshit

There are about three or for scenes of slapstick, but most of it is A Christmas Carol to the core. Great interactions between Scrooge and his nephew.

Good to know. I see it's 3d though, that worries me.

it has the creepiest version of Christmas past that I've seen.

And you're right to be worried, but if it helps most if not all of the 3D jumps are during the slapstick filler.

By far.

It's actually The Goon Show version

The old black and white one t b h
Shit was actually dark and heartfelt when Scrooge changed

Yeah, same here. Hated it as a kid. I cri evry tiem now.

I apparently mean the 1951 version btw, I've never seen the 1938 one

The CGI stands up really well to this day, and unlike most versions of the book it's not dumbed down.

I honestly thought I was the only one who liked it.

Tiny Tim was too damn big.
1984 version had the best casting.

>even the vegetables don’t like him
