Am I the only one here who liked the new star wars?

Am I the only one here who liked the new star wars?

I liked parts of it, and disliked others.
And the more I think about the parts I disliked, the more I dislike the movie.

2 movies in and i have no idea what the first order is trying to accomplish besides muh evil bad guys. The main characters motivation is..trying to find a motivation? These movies are being carried purely by brand recognition.

I liked most of it and hated some parts but I'm not an autistic manchild to call a movie complete trash because I didn't like some little bits of it.

You're not special user, we went all over this with bladerunner

It was better than Rogue one and all three prequels.

tip: think about the parts you liked more then

It was awesome

It's easily the best film since Empire. I seriously think Sup Forums can't handle seeing strong women and minorities in leading roles which clouds their judgment. They also have this hero worship thing with Luke. Face it, Rey is as much a Mary Sue as Luke, you just can't imagine a woman in the role.

TFA set the groundwork for how terrible this series would be. Generally when you're writing a bad guy you have to do something bad, that sets the good guys quest to stop them in motion. In A New hope they destroy Leia's home world. Leia begs them not to saying they're peaceful people. In TFA they destroy 3 random planets that are briefly mentioned. No one has any connection to them, it could be a corrupt republic who knows. Why even include this scene? It didn't affect any of the characters

This. So much this. I really don't understand how actual fans, the real die-hard motherfuckers too, can watch this shitshow and pretend everything is good.

That goes for all three of the new movies. Out 6 hours of film, the only memorable scene is a 30 second fan-service clip of Vader wrecking shit on the Tantive.

It's just fucking sad.

The parts I liked are some of the best scenes in the entire star wars saga. The parts I disliked are pretty bad, but not nearly the inverse of what I enjoyed.

That being said, is there any defense of the force projection twist?

Something pacifism something “there can only be two”

It was poorly set up but I have zero problems with it in theory. All the Force mysticism was great in this, I wish they went deep into that instead of all the mind numbing war scenes

Pretty much, the whole plot makes no sense, you don't involve yourself in a war like that without a strong motivation, Luke was a simpathizer of the rebels since young and saw his family murdered by the empire, luke was always a jedi fanboy since kid

Rey is riksing her life while saying (nah I don't really feel like it) she makes no sense.

>being this retarded

TLJ needed a competent editor to get rid of some of the weirder moments and edit out the pointless casino plotline. Use the extra time to slow down some of the scenes, let the audience get immersed in the moment. Then recast Rey and it's nearly OT-tier, or at least far better than TFA.

...

I liked TFA but TLJ was shit and absolutely destroyed the franchise. Unless JJ somehow fix Rian's mess in ep IX, which I doubt it, Nu Wars is over.

This must be bait. We had 2 movies of Luke learning the force and how to fight, and he got his ass handed to him in the second. The only thing he was good at from start was piloting. He wasn't a mary sue.

no im sure there are other people here who like reddit as well

Fuck off shill, your nu wars is gay.

Lmao these Yoda memes are killing me.

I agree with what you said, but there are still a shit ton of plot holes and Luke's entire character being raped.

Im also completely fine with the idea of force projection, I just felt like it was a cop out for Luke.

By seeing Leia as a force projection I don't get the feeling that he really owned up to his mistakes in addition to not even talking to Kylo Ren. It sounds wierd but he should have apologized.

no

I loved it! It was engaging, funny, thought provoking (asking questions such as "Greatness stems from not having shortcomings or does it hail from your own failings ?), developed new themes, gave us a new horizon for what Star Wars could be !

No, I thought it was great personally. I had a few nitpicks, but they ultimately aren't a big deal compared to the things I liked about it. Once I got over my disappointment at Luke not getting a huge spectacular action scene, I was actually fine with how they used his character in the film. Sad that he died in a lame way, but knowing he'll play a big role as a ghost still softens the blow. I absolutely loved the Kylo Ren and Rey relationship and the throne room scene. It was the highlight of the film.

Just watch as they will shit out the last movie and pretty much drop all they created with the new trilogy. It's all shit, all of it.

After the last movie, all the marketing will center around Old Trilogy merch and stories again. All Spin-Off movies and every piece of media (games, books) will also re-center on Old Trilogy stuff again as well.

They fucked up their "30 yrs into the future" take.

>plot holes
That reminds me, in the film Rose (deep and wide Asian girl) says that the rebel ships only have 18 hours of fuel remaining, but in the parallel plotline Rey spends multiple days on Luke's island trying to convince him to train her. So did the rebels' flight from the First Order only begin on her last day with Luke?

And Rey got her ass handed to her when Kylo rejected her? It was an emotional failure, not a physical one so it's clear why dumb boys wouldn't get it.

She was with Luke only a day. He didn't teach her shit.

I liked TLJ, I just thought it was a bad movie. you can like bad things.

Daisy Ridley is a slag.

I thought it was alright. Anyone with an extreme positive or extreme negative opinion on it is full of shit IMO. Plenty of weak parts but plenty of cool parts too. It was O.K.

I loved it even the Canto Bight scenes.

I give the worldbuilding 0/10 like generally abysmal shit.

The main characters aren't that much better, the only one who showed any kind of growth was Poe but it was done trough admiral tumblr which is the most ridiculous character in all of Star Wars

>inb4 Kylo Ren

He made a full circle , don't think it counts

I specifically remember her waiting for him when he wakes up in the morning, and he tells her to leave. Then later he tells her that he will teach her "at dawn". So she was there at least 2-3 days.

Nah. A lot of people here do. There are just bound to be more threads about stuff people hate on the internet and especially Sup Forums in particular. I liked the Force Awakens. I loved The Last Jedi.

Good, they will be forgotten like the prequels. There was no need for new Star Wars movies.

i fucking loved it ....its just modern bullshit to hate everything

I just saw it a couple of hours ago.
It was... okay. It's an okay film. It was better than Rogue One, not as good as The Force Awakens. It seemed to waste a lot of time on things that went nowhere. It wasn't boring to watch, but it feels a bit lackluster afterwards, once you realize that several parts didn't really mean much.

It's a solid 7/10.

Luke was fighting a forty year old Sith Lord. And he had barely any experience or training fighting with a lightsaber. In Empire, his blaster is still his go-to weapon.

Rey had to know how to fight with her staff and probably had to regularly beat the shit out of dudes who wanted to steal her food. Its very likely that she had been using the Force on Jakku in ways she didn't understand until she left. And Kylo Ren was severely injured.

t.brainlet

>taff and probably had to regularly beat the shit out of dudes who wanted to steal her food. Its very likely that she had been using the Force on Jakku in ways she didn't understand until she left. And Kylo Ren w

Did you drop the rest of your copypasta?

...

i liked tlj much more than tfa or rogue one. its high points are high but its low points are very low and at times pointless. casino scene was just to give information on where first order even gets funding/what kind of people are on board with it. could've been handled in a 5 minute scene instead of an arc

lot more grievances than that but overall 7.5/10

The movie was supposed to be fun to watch, and it was fun to watch. I personally love really dark movies with ambiguous endings, but while I was watching Star Wars I thought to myself, "this movie offers an escape from the feelings of disempowerment and failure of everyday life. In Star Wars you have this triumphant soundtrack and the movie nurtures the craving inside the audiences for the good to prevail. It's definitely escapism from futility."

It's sci-fi, but not at all similar to Bladeruuner 2049, which is a grim movie with only the faintest happy ending, but ultimately I enjoyed BR 2049 way more.

No user, there are hundreds of thousands of sub-90IQ retards who loved Transformers and both new soy-wars movies.

My feelings exactly
I don't even get why there's so much uproar over a film that's just ok
Like people need to have extremely positive/negative opinions to feel validated

No, I did too.
