If you hate Miles Morales clap your hands!

I hate this little punk so much.

I'm not even sure why, I just hate him with ultimate loathing.

Am I wrong in doing so Sup Forums?

I don't hate him.

I just don't care.

I've never been so apathetic about a single character in my entire life, but Miles causes some severe feelings of giving zero fucks.

This.
Though I would be content with him not existing at all because he's a fucking nigger.
Actually because his character (or rather lack of) is nothing and he's been shoehorned to an annoyance degree.

This, though replace zero fucks with one or two fucks because the kid is such wasted potential.

I hate the obnoxious push he's getting over legitimate legacy characters like Miguel, but as a character he doesn't have enough to like or dislike. After all this time his character is "I'm not Peter Parker" and one-shot wins.

I just read that issue in which a resucitated ultimate Peter gives him his blessing to be spider-man.

And I think that's where my hate originates. From Bendis trying so hard and shamelessly to give his OC donut steel some legitimacy that I instantly recoiled.

Or maybe y'all are just racists???

Im black and i hate this piece of sheeeeeit.

Sup Ben

There's a clear difference between disliking a character because of his race and disliking a character because he's poorly written.

Miles sits firmly in the latter category.

It's funny I've noticed most writersjust write him as peter
But when he's with Pierre he suddenly goes bland

I can't believe people don't see that arc for what it was

Bendis giving Pete and MJ closure because of Secret Wars

Does he even quip when he fights?

>not sure why

Hmm I wonder

Seems to me you just don't like him.

USM was my first comic book growing up. I grew up on Ultimate Peter. I grew up through Ultimatum as it was coming out biting fingernails thinking they would kill him off then. The book ran for a little longer, in hindsight going up and down with quality. In one of these downturns, they made the move to kill Peter and replace him with this super important, absolutely amazing, spectacular friendly neighborhood... nobody.

Nobody. Miles Morales just appeared from nowhere. Instead of introducing him over time, or giving the mantle to a supporting character, they just gave us this kid with a great costume design and said "Don't like it? You must be racist."

I kept reading, more out of brand loyalty than enjoyment, and i found the kid spoke the same as Peter, acted the same as Peter, had the same sense of humor as Peter. But that wasn't really true. The more I read the more I realized all the characters sounded exactly the same.

I dropped the book, periodically checking in when there were hints of Peter surviving (that one issue where all of Pete's cast imagined various alternate futures for Peter, each with fucking sick costumes, was particularly painful). When they finally brought him back in the death throes of the Ultimate Marvel, just to have him give his blessings to Miles before fucking off into the sunrise, I abandoned Marvel completely. At this point, I don't hate Miles. I used to, but it costs too much energy to keep up that kind of hate. I just don't care about the character. I've since stopped following characters and started following creators, and I'm happy to say that I keep anything Bendis related far away from my pull list.

Brian pls

I don't like him but I don't hate him either.

I like the idea of a stranger picking up the mantle, but the catch is that they need their own character and story. Look at Batman Beyond pre-Epilogue or Spider-Man 2099. They work because they have their own traits and stories.

While I don't care for Miles, you can't say he doesn't have his own story. It's just never truly had room to breathe, and at this point I'm afraid it never will. He will always be tied into the supporting cast and setting of another character or worse, be the forefront of some event, and as such will never have a chance to develop. The examples you cite work because the settings for those legacy characters belong to are so drastically different than the root from which they derive. Batman Beyond and Spider-Man 2099 are from the future! The Scarlet Spider (Kaine, not Ben) works just because they stuck him in fucking buttfuck Austin, Texas! The change in locale in time and space gives these characters room to meet new supporting characters, room to grow and change.

they just plugged miles into peters spot and not much else. everything about him is borrowed either from peter or has been done by a better legacy character

He is okay under non-Bendis writer, but terrible "you are better than petter" when Bendis writes him

Will Bendis ever pass the writers mantle with miles or are we stuck with Brian

There's two ways I can think of that would make Miles interesting:

1. Have him become a secret Agent of Shield. Basically James Bond with spider powers and web shooters.

2. Have him do a heel turn and become a villain.

Unfortunately I don't think Marvel is creative or ballsy enough to do either of those two.

I hate him beacuse I never read the ultimate comics or whatever they were and now he's just some shit dropped into my comics.

There is so many spider spin off characters. I just miss fun peter parker story times on \co\.

>Sup Forums
>not racist
pick one
but miles really is a boring character, outside bendis mind, nothing he does is remarkable

The thing that really pissed me off about that was that it raised yet another question without an answer. Who revived him and why?

I really don't hate Miles but I am disappointed with him. I wanted to like him especially when he debuted because he was the same race and age I was and Spider-Man is my favorite hero. After years of disappointing stories that didn't feel like they were going anywhere (did they reveal who the second Ultimate Venom was? The one who killed Miles' mom) I just couldn't care anymore and that godawful All New Ultimates book didn't help.

My problem is that Miles Morales is both humdrum and tremendously unnecessary. There was really nothing wrong with Peter Parker. He’s still one of the most popular costumed superheroes (and arguably the most popular hero) in the Marvel universe. Nevertheless, Brian Michael Bendis and the editors at Marvel, who swing so far to the left politically that they makes classic liberals like myself wince, decided that Peter had committed the unforgivable sin of being white. So they killed off the Ultimate version and replaced him with Miles.

But outside of the costume design (and you have to work very hard to make a bad Spider-Man costume), Miles just doesn’t register. His origin is a pale shadow of Peter’s, his Rogues Gallery was pilfered from Peter, his supporting cast doesn’t measure up to Peter’s (sorry Ganke fans) and even his characterization borrows shamelessly from Peter, right down to the quipping. I get the weird feeling that Bendis really wanted to make Peter into a black kid and this was the only way for him to do it. But like so many people here, I also find myself revolted that Marvel went for such an obvious bit of race replacement (suggesting that non-whites would not be able to relate to Spider-Man if he were a white guy – thus ignoring 50 years of non-white fans who never had a problem with it) while the company and some fans alike smear anyone who sees through this nonsense as an “evil racist” ™.

Marvel seems pretty hell bent on trying to prove that it somehow doesn’t matter who is wearing the Spider-Man mask (a point which Sony also wants to make with the Miles Morales animated film) – that Spidey is just a costume, and that it can just be anyone under there. I’m also sure they will try to get rid of Spider-Man and officially replace him with Miles at some point. But the problem is that Miles Morales consistently reminds us that really only one guy can be the Amazing Spider-Man, and that’s Peter Parker.

>classic liberals
I feel sorry for you bastards

Have fun trying to organize any sort of movement or march these days without the gift of intersectionality turning it into a mess.

>I just hate him with ultimate loathing.
>ultimate

Heh.

I dont like him merely because Marvel threw away the chance to have Peter Parker- Agent of Shield so that they could drum up some shock-sales at the end of the year.
BUT NOW SPIDER-MAN IS A BLACK KID SO YOU HAVE TO READ IT CAUS- no. I wanted to see Peter get fast tracked into SHIELD, you spent nearly 3 years hinting at that and then threw it all away along with the rest of the ultimate universe (Which was mostly trash to be fair, but spidey was a rare nugget of gold in that trash heap)
They could have even wound it up into some sorta rival avengers team since Ultimates were just a pack of jerkass clowns undermining each other constantly. Peter had Iceman and the Human Torch living in his house with Aunt May, that was just BEGGING for some sorta team up. but no. Shock value sales and here's a new character with no history

...

Also don't care enough about him to feel any certain way. He's no standout like Peter though, and if given the option, I'd rather read Peter than Miles.

I do, however, hate other particular legacy characters with a passion and would rather gouge my eyes out than be forced to read more than two panels worth of them (i.e. Kamala) so I know how you feel.

Miles gets a lot of hate for absolutely no reason other than the fact that he's black. And this isn't even a libcuck thing, it's literally because he was pushed as a diversity character thing.

But then people would say well Marvel is just going to drop him and forget about him like every other diversity push. Except they didn't. Alright well then he's just going to take over the main Spider-Man story and Peter won't have his own comic. Except that didn't happen. Well everyone will say he's much better than Peter and do some sort of worf effect thing. Except people still continuously talk about how Peter will be one of the greatest heroes of all time.

It's perfectly fine to not care about Miles. He's just as boring as Peter was once they reverted literally all process to the character's history. But if you hate Miles, it's clearly deep-seated in some retarded anti-SJW mindset.

Chris Hastings actually made me give a lil bit of a shit about Miles Morales in Gwenpool. I really think it's a writer problem, which most character problems in comic books are. There are no bad characters, etc.

you're obviously not alone, since this topic always pops up every other day.

Can Clay Davis be Spider-Man instead?

Frankly, I'm more interested in his mother than him.

he's a shitty character but I don't hate him.

it is a writer problem, his character was written just to replace peter. Pretty much a skin change.

>shitty character
there is that retarded statement again

I don't hate him, but he's not interesting. I don't see much different about him from Peter Parker honestly.

He'd be okay if Bendis didn't just make him a black repaint of Peter. I know we hate it when Marvel gets SJW writers, but can they find someone who knows what growing up as a dorky black kid is like instead of just copy-pasting shit from other Spider-Man stories onto a blank slate?

Ultimate Aunt May made me slightly confused.Bagley managed to slip some panels in which she positively looked like a silver haired cougar.

And now Marisa Tomei only adds to the confusion.

It's not right to lust after Aunt May.

This, they wasted a perfectly good plot.

My issue with Miles, which makes me dislike him so. Is that I feel like the victim of a bait-and-switch scam at a shell game. After investing years on the character, they suddenly switched the ball right before my eyes.

Fortunately at that point I was pretty much over Ultimate Spidey, since at that point it felt like Bendis was writing more of a High School dramedy than anything else. Degrassi with superpowers.
Add to that, that he seemed to have a hard-on for making Pete look innefectual and powerless. And I pretty much had dropped the title.

>>TFW you realize that Marisa Tomei is actually age appropriate to play Aunt May

lel, upboated :^)

>1. Have him become a secret Agent of Shield. Basically James Bond with spider powers and web shooters.
I want him to get trained by black widow and be a non lethal assassin. Ganke can make a gun that absorbs his venom to take out targets.

Is Ganke supposed to be some autistic fat teenage tinkerer?

Is Gwenpool supposed to be female Deadpool because if she is, this is a horrible replacement

No. Gwenpool is a girl from our universe named Gwen Poole who just happened to dress like a Deadpool OC.

...

oh okay, I thought they were going to replace Deadpool since hes not a minority

I-is she the daughter of Moot?

She is his sister.

This. So immensely boring a character. Makes it more hilarious to see Bendis desperately trying to make him THE Spiderman when the inevitable fate of Miles is to fall off to the wayside, forgotten.

>Am I wrong in doing so Sup Forums?

Yes. Miles is such a complete non-character that the only logical reaction to him is apathy like other people have said. If you like him you're either a Bendis dicksucker or someone who cares way too much about diversity. If you hate him you're either a "not muh"-er or maybe a little unironically racist.

who?

Of course not, we need some way to differentiate him from Peter or Kitty might try and date him.

I just dont care

When I found out about him, I felt scammed.
I'm angry at Bendis for tricking me with his shell game.

I grew up with the ultimate comics and while I didn't want them to kill off Peter, I did enjoy Miles's story in USM. He wasn't worthy of being Spider-Man but he was trying to be. I didn't think that he or his stories were great, but they weren't total shit. Also I think that in the Ultimate Universe, his supporting cast of the Prowler and the Young Ultimates really helped flesh him out as a character. I do hate his current books though. I don't even understand why he needs to exist in 616. Everything that the Ultimate comics managed to get right, the 616 comics just trashed. It sucks. I was actually starting to warm up to him after he met Ultimate Aunt May, Gwen, MJ, and Jessica. His titles are just garbage now.

Moot is the patron saint of newfags, to accuse someone of being Moot is an old way of telling them they need to lurk more.

Venom Blast is literally most retarded not omnipotent power.

Didn't Kaine have something similar?

Did he ALSO copy the web shooters from peter?

so true. I actually like miles a lot, but whenever venom blast is used it makes it hard to be a fan. like in Spider-Men, hes somehow more powerful than pete because of this ONE NEAT TRICK

>He's just as boring as Peter was once they reverted literally all process to the character's history.

Year one of 616 Peter Parker was more interesting than all of Miles.

My theory is that the "Peter" we saw was the previous Scorpion from the Ultimate Clone Arc that we never saw, having been implanted with Peter's memories to think he's Peter.

i thought it was a side effect of OZ? was that never actually stated?

It was never stated because everyone died.

Never stated although the OZ theory makes sense, but if that's true then why the fuck didn't Harry come back? WHy didn't MJ ever go full demogoblin because the cure didn't work?

Such a god damn waste.

IIRC the last moment of Ultimate Parker was giving the blessing to miles and Him and MJ driving off thru the sunset and then everyone died. . Still pissed Miles one shot Goblin.

really wish marvel didnt drive every other ultimate line into the fucking ground. id have loved to see the return of pete storyline get followed up with an OZ battle royal between all these people

>Still pissed Miles one shot Goblin.
I think this is the most infuriating thing about the entire ordeal. I want to wring Bendis's fat neck for even considering giving such an OP ability to any of his characters.

>id have loved to see the return of pete storyline get followed up with an OZ battle royal between all these people
Why did you have to put such an awesome idea into my head? That would have been amazing.

another tragedy of the ultimate universe.

>absorbs carnage
>gets captured by the beetle working for DOOM
>absolutely fucking nothing else happens

i know there was that miles venom arc but that was not even close to a real follow up to this plot thread

I consider the Ultimate Spider-Man game the canon ending to Spider-Man. It was the first story to present an ending as well as it also being written by Bendis.

Mean to say ending for Venom. In the story he also absorbed the Carnage symbiote and became complete. The kicker here is that he also gained the symbol when Eddy gained full control over the suit.

Not OP, but what if I find non-characters to be enraging? At least with a """bad""" character there was an attempt. And attempt which failed, but an attempt no less. With a non-character it's just so lazy that it legitimately pisses me off the creator got work. It doesn't help that normies /love/ Miles, when there are far better characters to be fans of.

Why is cum leaking out from under her mask in the last panel?

>Get to play venom
>Immediately eats a kid
Great Cape game, wish new Spider-man game comes close to it.

so true, this game was fucking beautiful

No he ripped your face off with his fucked up wall crawling power that was not working quite as intended due to clone shenanigans.

IIRC Spider-man also did it to Kraven's wife so its not just exclusive to Kaine. Miles venom touch is immediate paralysis that can be done even with indirect touching i.e if youre on his web and he venom touches the web you're paralyzed, its pretty crazy.

USM didn't capture the "feeling" of being Spider-Man the way SM2 did. No game has managed to do that since.

USM, however, was a more enjoyable and more solidly put together game.

>y'all

>Red Hulk, buffed by the Venom Symbiote, and infused with the fucking spirit of Vengeance, had a tougher time fighting Blackheart than Miles, who just fucking destroyed him with a touch of his fingers.

No matter what they do, nothing will make Miles look worse than the first issue of his current run.

See the caveat to this is that Miles is a comic book character so that means one of either two things are happening for people to actively not like him:

1) They either don't read anything with him in it, virtue of, and I'm playing devil's advocate here, they have read some small amount of material and just didn't like him at all thus ending their streak of reading anything he's involved in. I mean let's be honest, you have to care some iota to go on Sup Forums, find a thread with Miles' picture as the OP and then type in the captcha to then let others know that you do not like him.

2) You continue to read all the material he's in even though you've established that you dislike him but you will search for any evidence to support your claim that he is a very boring character and that he doesn't deserve to even exist. This is coupled with the fact that Sup Forums is notoriously racist and (let's face it even Sup Forums is this way at this point) a hug box and echo chamber for the same opinion. You feel it necessary to let everyone know that you are a person who doesn't like Miles Morales.

In conclusion, just like how people sincerely wish to get into comics, they are a very niche hobby insofar that you can't just get a book anywhere or just glance through a story like a manga does. You either have to actively go out and buy his comics in a specialised store OR look through a Win-O thread to get anything out of it. It's not like he's a movie character or a ridiculously popular character that appears in four different mediums like say, Batman or Peter Parker's Spider-Man.

So, odds are, yes, the people on Sup Forums who continuously feel it necessary to belittle the character of Miles Morales are probably racist who need to justify their dislike of him through a hive-mind opinion that is just a curtain for their very real racism.

I know that isn't what you want to hear and hell it might even be detrimental to the people who argue for Miles is actually a good character by waving it off as racism and maybe you don't even fit into those two categories but far too many people will to pretend it's not the case with Spider-Man.

>Not liking a character
>Racist
Have a (You)

>its pretty crazy
It's underaged roleplay OC tier, and that's my biggest problem with it. It's just so lazy and cheap. "My character is like Spider-Man BUT BETTER and he has all of Spider-man's powers PLUS he can also turn invisible AND he has blast powers that can INSTANTLY BEAT ANYONE! And he's black, just like like me*!"

Was there any thought put into Miles as a character other than palette swap Peter but better with more powers?

*Bendis wishes he was

Yeah it is, if only his venom blast isnt instant and could be resisted then he wouldn't be insanely strong, on a plus note has 616 Miles been shown? From Pete's shocked google search I was expecting something substantial.

Or maybe he's just a shitty character who's written bad consistently by /everyone/ who's ever touched him.

I gave him a chance, read a handful of issues.
Seems like every fight ends with him using his venom sting thing.
Or he turns invisible and THEN uses the venom sting
It got really boring

He's not always badly written. However, anytime he's written half decently, he's just being written as Peter-lite. That only drives home just how obvious it is that he's a cheap palette swap.

I'm apathetic to the point that I wouldn't care if no longer existed from the universe

I'm mad that he's one of the few characters who still exists from a universe that was erased.

*claps hands*

I'm so apathetic I don't think I'd even notice if he just suddenly disappeared. He almost never shows up in the few Marvel books I still read anyway.

While they are both 4th wall breakers, Gwen seems to be metaphorically masturbating to corporate synergy and whatever else Marvel plans to promote.

Deadpool was fun cause he could take the wind out the stupid shit Marvel does.

Niggers ruin pretty much everything.
