...to THIS?

to this...

The OT only ever had one-on-one duels, and they're all memorable and entertaining to watch. The prequels and TLJ make the mistake of having too many combatants, making it impossible for the human eye to keep track of what is going on. Less is more. ROTS is right to have only two combatants in its final duel but makes the mistake of having them jump around like a child is playing with action figures.

the anakin obi wan duel was so fucking long and awful i doze off during it when i was watching it the first time

stop trying to make the prequels something they weren't

Was Sheev turning senile?

The red guard's sword literally passes through Kylo's lightsaber stuck in the ground.

other than it being a good trick, what does yoda gain in making that spin before he throws it at him.

A good question
for another time

What's the tactical advantage of striking your sword into the ground leaving your upper body defenseless?

builds more momentum

Imagine being this dumb.

that guard on the left who just remembered he left the stove on

All the sparkles during the fight were annoying as fuck!

Pure kino.

Making objects spin is a good way to store energy and increase momentum. It is in fact one of the only way we know to store a large amount of electricity, and objects spinning are actually heavier than objects not spinning (e=mc2, bitch). The relativistic effects on that example would be absolutely negligible, but the increase of energy would not.

Basically stopping a spinning thrown object with the force would be several times more difficult than simply stopping it not spinning.

It forces your opponent to swing at the stuck sword

Its actually kind of depressing how artless and inept contemporary choreography and cinematography are compared to low budget kung fu movies from the nearly 40 years ago.

No, because in a sword fight you aren't trying to strike the enemy's sword, you're trying to strike past or around his blade at his neck, stomach, wrists, head, etc depending on where he's vulnerable.

>autism
it was a joke user.

Over-choreographed stuff looks cool but kills tension

Why did Kylo stab his sword in the ground? Why did the guard swing right into it?

akhchually, you can clearly see the guard telegraphing the swing
so kylo does the logical thing and blocks the swing

Based Yoda can't even talk right but knows physics and shit.

my sides. thats a great video

Why did the fucking maus live Rian in charge again?

Just been reminded of that sub plot that'll probably never get revealed!

ARRRRRRRRRRRRGHHHH GIVE ME THRAWN
LET THRAWN BE THE VILLAIN IN IX

they battled on Mustafar because Anakin went much too far

soooooo about those knights of ren......

>because i'm an old man who falls asleep during movies means others do not like the prequel fights
The Anakin vs Obi-Wan fight is probably the best duel in the whole series.

>You may fire when ready.

>The OT only ever had one-on-one duels, and they're all memorable and entertaining to watch

I can't admit that they are memorable but they are definitely not entertaining to watch. They were barely even sword fights.

...

can admit*

>that burst of insanely fast lightsaber choreography when Anakin leaps at Obi Wan at the beginning of the fight
>Yoda casually taking out the 2 royal guards with a flick of the wrist
>the shot of them fighting on a podium rising up in the middle of the Senate chamber
>yoda's eyes as he redirects the lightning back
>sheev cackling and having an absolute blast finally being able to go all out against the grand master of the jedi order
>battle of the heroes
Disney will NEVER make anything close to those 2 duels in ROTS

He was literally the best part of the Force Awakens, I loved him for the unapologetic evil he had.
Why did he turn out shit.

faggot

this looks so fucking stupid holy shit
just study that sequence for a good minute and you see how fucking retarded it is

>unapologetic evil
this dude was literally a caricature, people laugh when they watch him "ACTING"

>he's just like Hitler lmao

>Why did he turn out shit.

We can't have any threat to the heroes.

>"I will not be Star Wars Episode 8: The Last Jedi"
>*its a hologram*
What did Luuke mean by this?

...

Anakin vs Obi-Wan was fine but don't pretend that giving two characters that never should have had lightsabers a fast-paced jumping fight scene was a good idea.

In the games there is a light and a heavy style of light saber wielding.

The light style is flashy and good for multiple enemies. Basically the dex style.

While the heavy style is for 1v1.

Kylo is clearly using the heavy style which makes this even more strange. There is no way you could ever defeat multiple enemies with that style. It is slow and supposed to overpower a single enemy.

This is already to much thought wasted on this pile of garbage movie though.

Can't put it any better that this post

Because they forgot to emulate any semblance of an actual fight where people try to kill each other and instead focus of purely striking at each other's weapons.

TLJ felt very prequel-ish in a lot of ways. Especially the casino scenes.

In any of the major scenes, they only had a maximum of three people fighting. One more person is enough to make you say 'this is impossible to keep up with'?

just shut off you cerebelum my man!

...

We'll never get to see a hero loose their first battle against the big bad, and then have them train to get better, and defeat them in the following movie ever again.

I feel literally the opposite. The Anakin Ben fight is trash, but Sheev yucking it up while Yoda struggles against him is Kino

oh fuck it was a hologram the whole time

Faggot

Faggot

The fight against Dooku in AotC was literally the worst fight choreography I have ever seen

Honestly, It would have been so much better if they turned it around and had Rey turn to the dark side and Ben turn towards the light. Would have at least made the fight scenes consistent throughout the series.

>Like Nephew?

>0:06 in that webm
pure kino
notice the sun in the background

Also, say what you want about this movie, but J.J. knows how to make lightsabers actually feel like they have weight to them, which is really nice. They feel more like blades and up until the point where Rey randomly gains strength for no reason, this fight scene is pretty damn good.

I disliked TLJ lightsaber fights but I don't know why, something about the coreography just felt weird.

There was no lightsaber fight in TLJ, it was the throne room scene, and then the fake duel between Ben and Luke. Not a single lightsaber clashed besides in the flashbacks.
But yeah, TLJ's fight scenes were just plane bad, TFA weren't even great, but they were so much better than TLJ

>OMG bekhus she is like SUPER STRONG and he's is like SUPER WEAK.

The fight made sense up until the part where she just gets massive gains. She was running away and only using the saber for defense and Ben was kicking the shit out of Finn and her.

That's kinda the problem, beams of energy don't have weight.

more energy, harder to stop and deflect, hence why sheev doesn't attempt to block it.

Homosexual who partakes in anal ramifications with the simian sub species that orig Compton-Africanus

God this is so terrible, and I'm being really forgiving of the Mouse in this instance.

It's just so damn horrid, did Rian even hire a choreographer? Who is responsible for this mess.

Is this taken out of context? It's shamylan's avatar levels of horrible

I remember watching it on cinema and I noticed perfectly that retarded attack on the ground.
It was definitely noticeable just by watching it once.

Try to keep in mind that these are professional martial artists, whilst no one in TLJ is even a hobbyist swordfighter and, apparently, they didn't bother with a choreographer either.

faggot

Since some samefag is dumping on you, I will say you're not wrong. It's overly long, for the sake of making it the most epix battle evar XD etc.

Still it looks better than TLJ and it's not a travesty of editing like so much of Disney/Marvel trash.

I posit to you that this - as a piece of choreographed kinomatics - is shit. It can work for character reasons, but it looks pretty lousy.

And don't forget the climax fight of ROTJ, in which Darth Vader literally loses because he falls to the ground while spinning.
Wasn't a good trick after all.

The principle of this comment is true but it has nothing to do with relativity. Spinning objects have reduced drag and increased stability. This is why rockets, artillery, bullets are designed to spin when they launch/ are fired.

I'd even say that the choreography was so terrible and embarrassing here that it ruined the emotional resonance of the scene.

Neither of these guys is much of a dancer and they kept breaking the prop sabers, according to the documentary.

I mean, I can understand it. I wonder if Lucas even had a choreographer for the first movie. But it's never really been about the lightsaber duels. The prequels made a bunch of retards think that's the heart and soul of SW and they're dead wrong.

Jesus Christ the prequels are such a fucking fever dream. I love 'em.

her name?

>one red guard attacks
>the two next to him instead of striking rey just turn away

Truly a piece of art.

This is why you use action doubles.
So the action scenes are not fucking garbage.

>the LIGHTsowrd is "stuck" int he groud
>the LIGHTsowrd that is capable to cut trough everything except one material that wasn't introduced in the nuEU as of yet

Truly great.
Unbelivable how someone can come up with such a magnificent fight.

Damn straight. Say what you will about the clunky dialogue, overuse of CGI and weird humor, but they are some of the most imaginative blockbusters ever.

shit nigga what happen next?

Honestly, you can actors get up to speed to at least the most basic stuff in a few months tops..
The rest can be done via editing.
Fuck , just look at some of the GoT stuff, where they at least try to get a somehow good cheography done, while this shit could almost also be done by the fat SW kid from youtube 15 years ago.

I like the OT fights. I also like the PT fights. I just don't think they're at odds or anything, and it's a good thing they are so characteristically different. They don't threaten each other. On the contrary ; they both do something different.

The video's pretty shit. She doesn't looks as good from other angles. You'll only be disappointed.

People will remember them and meme about them for a long time
Disney wars will be forgotten 3 years from now
Remember how shills tried to force awful TFA memes?

Hollywood adaptation of this battle when?

The first one you're right.
Obi-Wan vs Vader in ANH was nothing.
But from ESB onwards?
Even when knowing precisley how the fight will go I still get excited when I watch Vader against Luke in Bespin or on the DS.
And the PT play in an entierly different leauge.

>new movies are shit
>that suddenly makes older shit movies good
What kind of hipster logic is this

faggot

>lightsabers
>light
>have weight

I want reddit to LEAVE

Lightsabers are actually so lame in Nu wars
They seem to weight like 5 kilos and can be blocked by anything

I agree; that fight in TLJ is terrible even using incredibly relaxed standards. But it's a blockbuster motion picture from Disney, and is essentially a flagship IP. So one should expect excellence.

I really want to know if Rian hired a choreographer, how long the actors had practice, and why that shit ultimately made the cut. For a movie with almost no actual saber fighting, it's pretty abysmal that this was the best they could do.
