Optimus "Warcrime is a pastime" Prime is best bot. You cannot refute this

I thought Beast Wars was the shit as a little kid, was pleasantly surprised by Animated when it aired, and liked what I read of More than Meets the Eye (though I heard the second half falters in quality). What's some good Transformers stuff to consume?

He's the best bot as a bot character in the movieverse, but not in the whole franchise.

The other IDW TFs are pretty interesting. You should try GI Joe-Transformers, it's a fucked up ride.

All Western media is decent to good excluding Beast Machines
All Japanese media is awful

Is there a reason why Transformers always shits the bed when it's made in Japan? The only half-decent thing they made was Headmasters, and that's only because of the dub. Subbed Headmasters is a snore and I can't imagine how Japanese kids could tolerate it for more than a few minutes.

To the Japanese, robots are mostly seen as tools/extensions of humans (see: the entire mecha genre where they're "mobile suits"). The idea of intelligent, autonomous robots to them is like The Brave Little Toaster or Cars to us. Stuff for young children, basically. So they don't really bring their A-game to it.

>tfw you want to make your own story about transforming robots
>tfw you know full well you can't without everyone calling ripoff and Hasbro suing you into oblivion
Just...

Depends, is it an alien race or just a kid and his transforming robot?

J-Decker was great, though.

Aliens.

Well shit. You can always do a "golem" version of Transformers, otherwise doing a story about genderless aliens with the ability to transform and survive what could be perceived as human-mortal wounds like TF and SU would be difficult.

But you know, you could just change one element of that. Either the robots don't transform or it just becomes one of those "only the protagonist has that at the cost of side effects".

Or, Hasbro can eat a dick, since they do not own the very concept of shape shifting alien robots, just like how Disney does not hold copyright over the concept of mice.

Transformers has put a hard limit on stories it can tell with this concept since it always has to boil down to Bots VS Cons. So fuck it, if people wanna call me a thief, I'll just deal with it.

>So fuck it, if people wanna call me a thief, I'll just deal with it.

Many people have "dealt with it", and dealt with it did they

Steven Universe airs on TV, and Hasbro hasn't sued them despite the premise literally being "Transformers but they're lesbians". I'm sure you can do your thing as long as they don't turn into cars.

What is your story about besides transforming robots?

New season of RID started this morning.

it's gonna be a long ass wait till someone uploads it online.

It's about exploring the day to day life of such a species. We almost never see these kind of beings just going about their business. How do they live? What do they do for fun? How does being able to switch between forms affect their society, and what issues does the common bot face everyday? That kind of stuff. Again, TF is ALWAYS about the war in some capacity, which, while a lasting storytelling engine, doesn't really make for compelling old school style sci-fi.

Is the IDW shared universe in general decent?

>Steven Universe
>being "Transformers but they're lesbians"
Seriously? I've avoided that shit like it was colorful horses. Seems I made a wise choice.

It's alright but I don't like it in my opinion. It's kinda jarring for some of the ongoings just suddenly having new characters like during the mid of TAAO.

Well technically they're 100 year old near-immortals who can transform into anything, treats combining as a rare and weird mutation and wars on earth while revealing that earth was a macguffin all along.

But with rocks instead of metal.

Masterforce is pretty fun for Jap TF fiction but you can safely ignore half of it like most anime Once you get to the episode where Ginrai suplexes Overlord you're in for some good stuff. Marvel G1 is crazy an has a ridiculous amount of Muh Lore. The WFC AND FOC games are great. Devastation is a great game if you like the G1 cartoon. BM isn't a bad show but it craps on BW's legacy. Prime is boring and only fujoshits and fags like it because they can fap to Starscream and Knockout. AEC has good ideas and characters but they're horribly executed and Energon is unwatchable. RiD the anime is a gag show with neat characters. I don't know about the new RiD but it seems like a lame duck monster of the week show. Rescue Bots is for toddlers.

Best thing to happen in ages. I can't wait for them to go full Marvel with events every other month.

>Prime is boring and only fujoshits and fags like it because they can fap to Starscream and Knockout.
I thought Prime was flawed but fine
It brought a level of drama and seriousness back to TF that hadn't been seen since the Beast era, even if yeah, of course, most of us would change things about it

>My show is better than your show! Nya nya nya!
Transformers is fucking retarded, and the fact you idiots are always arguing over it is fucking disgusting.

You can't just enjoy a franchise about two groups of giant robots fighting, no, you have to argue about which iteration is better because you're all such boring cunts that you have to assign yourself with asinine fandom labels to give yourselves any vague sense of identity.

Either shut the fuck up and toss that tribalist whoreshit in the trash where it belongs, or kill yourselves. Goddamn.

What do you like, smart guy?

Probably either the one TMNT fan who hates Transformers, or the one MCU faggot who hates Transformers

Either way, they're a faggot

I think each series (the one's I've seen that is) has their pros and cons. The franchise has always had mixed quality, making it kind of dumb to compare them.

Anyone got the Mega with all of the Hasbro IDW stuff?

Sorry no, only this MEGA with all the Transformers IDW stuff.

mega.nz/#F!Ax4nUCCT!_5vN--HYA1R6ahJUNcx-wQ!swBzlKZD

CN skipped airing it in my timezone I think, all I got was magiswords and gumball.

I'm a bit frightened that the genre is slightly dying.
I really wish Hasbro would focus on toons again instead of purely relying on bay movies.

The only reason it isn't dead is because of Michael Bay

I unironically enjoy the Bayformers movies. I just wish they didn't have any humans. The human protagonists in all these CGI monster movies are just boring filler, and I'd take a shorter action-fest over unnecessarily extended "blockbusters" any day.

it still hurts

I mostly enjoy Optimus Prime in it but all in all, too many missed opportunities. I'd love a cartoon series about it though. Crosshairs was the kind of guy I'd probably fall for during childhood.

Animated's definitely the best, good designs if you don't mind the artistic liberties, decent humans, good characterisation and best husubando pic related

I just wish season 4 could have happened and that Optimus would fucking deck Sentinel in his fat fucking chin because damn hell that CUNT need to stop fucking shit up. And Sari being a transformer was a bad plot to go with. they should've stuck with robot made by bad parent and left it at that.

Where do I get started in the IDW comics?

I remember how hype it was when this nigga started killing people off. He fucking murdered Blurr for christ sake

IDW Collection vol. 1
IDW Collection Phase 2 vol. 1
Revolution

Any of these three.

I meant the Transformers comics, if it wasn't obvious. Does it still stand?

my man putting Magnus in a coma like MMMMMM

damn

I'm so sick of the g1 rehashes. Where are my bw rehashes?

Also, do we know what the plot of Trans5mers is?

Cybertron needs to consume earth to survive. Optimus is brainwashed into ensuring that this shit happens by his """creators"""

Humans are split into two, junkyard and london. Cade and Bee hang out with Anthony Hopkins along with Hot Rod and Laura Haddock to discuss the macguffin to save earth from Cybertron, Isabella and the rest hang around defending against the Decepticons.

Decepticons are working with the ex-NEST for some reason.

>TLDR Prime will destroy earth and Bee has to stop it while Megatron goes through char development with the humans.

Okay. That's kinda what I thought, just wasn't sure.

"War crime"

Nah thats the decepticons who fire in fleeing civilians.

Prime is just a good paladin doing his job

>Humans are split into two, junkyard and london.
>junkyard and london

so just one location, alright

...

I asked in the writefag thread and didn't get a response so I'll try here. You guys might have an opinion.
I just started working on a fan script for a Bayformers Beast Wars movie. I wanna know if it's too "cruel" or "meanspirited" to kill off the young bright eyed innocent Cheetor in the final battle scene. He's the only Maximal I don't really have a full arc for and I'd like to subvert the war story trope where the young newbie is the sole survivor.

Really wished Hasbro released TAV-28 Vehicon General stateside as a Rom CHUG. Add some red paint behind his clear chest and a done deal

I thought cade was cool

And the militarynguys from the first three

Why not kill Dinobot for "Muh Warrior Honor"

Plus why not let the rookie learn ala Band of Brothers episode "Replacements"

I'm going for a fakeout with Dinobot and Rattrap, setting them up to go out kinda like Vazquez and Gorman from Aliens but then not dying. But I may just also not have anyone die because fuck it, it's my story.

...

>murdered Blurr
youtube.com/watch?v=9dLtdQg3Auw

don't the toys still make money?
Can't imagine it dying if it makes money

And with RiD is their toon offering, I'd be okay with them taking a break to make something better

you're an idiot

So he is the best bot because he commits war crimes? Tell me more.

Yes. Sometimes it is more than decent.

Given how toxic the fandom is, you were right. I personally love the fuck out of it, but one thing's for sure: it's not for everybody.

...Jesus, the shows you watch must be fucking amazing.

>dat Sari
What's this from? Cause I don't know how I feel about the way Sari is drawn here.

Sari resurrected him with allspark energy bullshit he was definitely dead when husbando chucked him.

Ha. No. It was doing fine without that hack for decades and it will do fine once he has gone to the Cities of Dust.

That it existed or that it ended?
I thought it was pretty great.

I miss Sari.

>I unironically enjoy the Bayformers movies.

How? They're so bad. The plots are bad, the characters are bad, the dialogue is bad...

>that it ended
yes, that part specifically

That could work
Huh, neat

Nit him but bayformers is fun.

Prime beinf full on clint eastwood

The military porn

The transformations

Shit even on a more detailed level i love the designs and animations

The movments are so on point, theres a sens of wight but at the same time it feels natural

Like yeah this is how a sentient being of that size would move

>...Jesus, the shows you watch must be fucking amazing.
Eat a dick. I love Transformers, but I don't delude myself into thinking it's some kind of high art. Transformers is fucking stupid, and it just fucking irks me that people get into equally stupid fights over which series is best. Y'all need to knock that shit off, cause it's piss rippingly annoying.

Each iteration has its pros and cons (except Kiss Players, and we don't talk about that), so any arguments about which is better are meaningless, and will always boil down to personal preference.

user even kiss players had a postive

Rosanna

Also Fairborn will for ever be robosexual

My friend, don't blame us - blame the sick bastard who is forcing you to read pissing threads like this. What is he getting out of it? He must have real problems.

Its a script reading for an episode in TFA's cancelled season 4 called "the return of blurr". Where and when this took place is in the vid title

Yeah, but why they draw Sari so sexy tho? That's just weird.

>It was doing fine without that hack for decades
The franchise middling at best in the mid 2000s and probably running on fumes behind the scenes.
Bayformers made the franchise literally ten times stronger.

...

Yes and there's a TFA official artist who draws Blurr yaoi. Now that she's upgraded the safety wheels are off.

In Japan, Transformers is sold and marketed as series for toddlers, pre-schoolers. While in America, most of the cartoons are geared toward an older crowd, like eight to ten year olds.

>And Sari being a transformer was a bad plot to go with
It was a fun reveal but then they never really went anywhere with it.
She can communicate with machines, which is special I guess but theres no followup that I can remember

I'm a real casual transformers fan. I only really got into Beast Wars and Beast Machines.

Dinobot is my favorite Transformer, and I can't help but love Waspinator.

The only toys I have are an anniversary Waspinator and Savage/Noble from Beast Machines. Used to have the Motorcycle and Jet too, but I don't know what happened to them.

>making my daughteru sexier
...

In hindsight, it's obvious they had plans to do more stuff with her, but they didn't get a fourth season, so the focus fell on resolving the main story.

What I find pretty funny is that merging with the key only served to make her more versatile in her status as walking plot device. This never became a bad thing, but it was kinda funny to be able to see the parts of the script that say "Sari does a thing at it.".

*Blocks your path*

Thanks for sharing, user. Are you looking to get in to the more contemporary scene?

Fuck I really dig both of those.

Someone should tell 2 sremmers 5 to stop being so literal with "blocks" your path. Don't need 2 shields to do it.

I stoped reading Transformers right when dawn of the autobots started. Is it worth going back and start reading from there or can I just skip it all and start reading from the current releases?

That's exactly my problem, it never went anywhere and with her upgrade she became more of a basic plot device who stole Ratchet's job.

Looking at the scripts and summaries of season 4 doesn't shed any light on what the writers were planning but there really wasn't that much of a bigger picture. Unless they had a Ace Attourney plot twist to explain how Megatron's corpse didn't shit out a protofrom. I guess we'll never know.

Even if there was a wacky plot twist in the works to be honest I'd rather her be an attempt by Sumdac to make a cybertronian android. It would have been a better wrap up for her mystery arc and would still have the ability to be expanded on later on. Probably not as much though.

Two more months until TLK. I am sufficiently hype.

Then Transformers vs ROM. Thats gonna be fun.

>Let's talk about Transformers. Favorite shows, movies, least favorite, blah blah blah
Beast Wars, Original animated film, Transformer animated annoyed the fuck out of me and fuck the Bay films after the first one.

>Megatron's corpse didn't shit out a protofrom
u wot m8
her pod was clearly teleported to earth somehow, Megatron probably had nothing direct to do with it

... Hey Boco, I'm curious. Given your well known love of Roll, what do you think of Sari?

Mostly indifferent. She's one of the better "token human sidekicks", but on the whole Animated was a disappointment.

>while Megatron goes through char development with the humans.

The Return of Blurr was a post-season 3 story, probably incorporating some elements from season 4, but it wasn't a season 4 episode script.
There's nothing in those images that decipt Sari as any more "sexual" than how she was depicted in the show.

Anyone?

If nothing else from the stuff you'd be skipping, make sure you read the Transformers Holiday Special.

The whole landscape changed after the Revolution crossover.

Hope you like seeing GI Joe characters every month.

That had literally nothing to do with what they asked.

Revolution and beyond is a new jumping on point, so if you want to skip stuff you should be able to settle in well enough.

>clearly teleported to earth

Even if it was, its going to be some anime bullshit who whats and whys to explain it.

Who would teleport a protoform (and not just the standard ones we've seen used in the show, clearly an actual baby one) to the secret lab of Sumdac. Who's only significance at that point in time is that he has part of Megatron's corpse in that very same lab.

But like I said earlier, who knows really. I actually hope you're right my ideas a lot more gross.

>Thanks for sharing, user. Are you looking to get in to the more contemporary scene?
Not particularly. I'm sure if I wanted to I could really get into the series, but I just don't have the time.

That one 3d series with the 3 kids looked kind of interesting, was that any good?

>Kiss Players
But it at least brought in Marissa Fairborn's daughter, Sue (named after Marissa's VA and her Father's spaceship). Which Sue showed up again in Unite Warriors.

Prime?
It starts out strong but suffers HEAVILY from repeated wasted potential and production chaos behind the scenes
