All of that is entry level trash. Valerie and Her Week of Wonders is enjoyable, but it is still an entry level film by teenager boy/girls who either were into artistic or were ironic peadophiles. I know it because I met many weeb/ironic dykes girls who saw and discussed the film while I was in highschool and they always said that Valerie was beautiful and they wanted to lay with her. It is one of those motion pictures which are okay, but suffer from having a plebeian fanbase who consider it the Holy Grail of cinema because it is the first movie that they saw which was older than themselves.

KnK was a clusterfuck of too many events without any weight and characters without any purpose crammed into too little time. The manga wasn't good either but the movie really did a bad job adapting it.

Leaving aside Violet Evergarden (which I'll definitely be watching), if you want a strong introduction to anime I'd recommend this show which I just caught up with. Showa Genroku Rakugo Shinju. One of the best anime of the last several years.
