>The 'thinking for yourself is bad' meme

Did Morty die or something?

That just makes me spit on Summer. If you have access to an asset like Rick, and you're a shitty dead-end human being, that's YOUR fault.

I dunno, it just kind of calls attention to the unwritten contract the show has with the audience. Rick and Morty go on adventures. How Rick convinced Beth and Jerry to agree to this, and why they keep doing it, are only ever implied. Once you actually bring up that this was obviously stupid it just raises other questions.

It's a Watchman scenario where you're so quick to try looking clever you don't realize you just opened another can of worms that seems like a deal as big or bigger.

Childhood is thinking Rick is fun.

Adulthood is knowing Jerry was right... and Beth is an alcoholic cunt who isn't even in the same percentages as her father or even son.

I just think it's a funny cartoon.

I hope it doesn't start sucking it's own dick too much.

>we still have athiests who don't cringe after obvious anti-religious nihilism after all these years of internet connection.
OP"s pic wasn't too bad, not the worst string of words I've seen today. But your comment was.

This was before the whole "Betty comes to the future arc" and all we knew about Simon was from those videos in the Christmas episode

...

Religion is pretty fucked up and caused nearly all of the world's troubles. We should be against it.

Fuck off, mate

I know you're being ironic but real shit, why do people hate jerry so much?

...

...

I don't think any of the viewers hate Jerry, it's just the people in the show that actually shit on him, and that I think makes him more likable to the viewers.

He was the only one in the family, until Morty recently started seeing things clearly, that actually sees through Rick's bullshit.

Great argument.

Not an official panel, but I always liked it.

...Jesus.

The writers have been working pretty hard to portray him as a pathetic weasel in season 2. I think he's being flanderized in response to Rick becoming more and more depraved.

See this is the exact opposite thing I wanted in this thread.
There is literally nothing wrong with being atheist, I'm agnostic cause I personally don't believe it myself, but everyone knows that atheists that constantly bring it up unnecessarily and put down all of religion at once are retarded.

I don't hate Rick or Beth or Jerry. I just kind of think they're all shitty people.

But reddit won't hate Rick because crazy science antics, and they won't shit on Beth because white knighting is still very much a thing. That just leaves Jerry with his cowardice, his insecurity, and his massive inferiority complex. He's an easy safe target to pick on.

I really enjoy the snark in this image. "Understanding that religion gives people much needed order, discipline, meaning and direction and appreciating religious concepts in a metaphorical sense."

Heh. Classic. The average person is a brainless animal who needs to be guided and watched, in one way or another.

If you have a few more brains, you can dismiss the really insane parts of religion as amusing metaphor, while still realizing that the average person will start raping and murdering without the guiding hand of religion.

Better 1?
Better 2?

2. I fucking hate the way they do the scribbled in pupils look.

Because he's the guy who knows what's best for you. He's your parents, he's your teachers, he's your boss. He refuses this dimension hopping, wish granting, adventure seeking madman out of the notion that you'll get hurt if you follow him.

And you know what? HE'S RIGHT. Remember when Rick abandoned them in their original universe because he fucked it up with Cronenbergs? Remember when was willing to let his family stay on a minuscule Earth to avoid the Feds? Remember when he put a deadly virus in some Cherry Garcia?

Detractors will say something like "Rick is so smart, he can simply fix all those things, he'll always have a plan, etc." Ignoring the Cronenberg incident, yes, Rick is very smart, and seemingly thinks of everything, like how he took down the Federation in the season 3 premiere.

A lot of people want and expect Rick, and all characters for that matter, to have an eventual defining trait. They're either good guys or bad guys. They're heroes (or anti-heroes) or villains. They might be assholes, but always do the right thing in the end. Or they're just assholes.

But Rick is a very flawed person and his affection for his family, along with it his heroism, seems to comes whenever convenient. He seemingly had every intention of staying with Unity and nearly killed himself when she broke up with him. He took the One Free Morty coupon. Hell, in the very first scene he was going to blow up the planet in a drunken stupor. Yes, he turned himself in at the end of season 2, but one can argue it was all a plot to destroy the Feds from the inside. His rant at the end of season 3's premiere very strongly suggests he really is in it for himself, and bends emotions to fit that, such as making Morty believe in him because he likes having him as a sidekick.

Back to Jerry, he cares about his family's safety and stability. He's flawed too, bit of a coward, lacking skills, boring if nothing else. But he has genuine affection.

Glad to see others noticed that Jerry was made to look more pathetic in season two. I guess they thought it was too easy to take his side in season one when Rick's a huge asshole and Beth's a hopeless enabler.

source?

is that from a porn comic?

I'm hoping they do one or both of these things with Jerry this season:

1. He's living a good life, gets a meager but stable job somewhere, has a nice little condo, maybe the car he's always wanted, and dates a co-worker (whose dad is dead.) He's doing just fine without Beth and his kids, suggesting they may have been the problem with him all along. But of course, this isn't true, and eventually he realizes his love for Beth is strong enough that it supersedes a normal, happy life. Much like her love for Rick does the same. It might come off sappy and even as the ultimate cucking, but his willingness to suffer for his love is something more genuine than Rick would have displayed.

2. Rick realizes that, just as every Rick must have a Morty, so must they too have a Jerry. Jerry is his control point, the thing that keeps him from going too crazy for his own good. Imagine what it'll be like without Jerry: Beth will allow him to take Morty wherever whenever and be ready and waiting with pancakes when they decide to return, Summer will tag along now and again but mostly be left to her own devices, and Morty, whose trust in Rick wanes, will have no choice to be continue his role as the sidekick. Rick will have no buffer, nobody saying it's a bad idea besides Morty, whom he ignores anyway. He'll always get his way, and that's not too good for anybody, let alone a genius scientist, whose very being is designed to solve problems.

Right now. You are in a board about cartoons and comic books. This is not /his/, this is not Sup Forums. You are pretending to be an independent thinker and you brought up religion in a thread discussing comics, and cartoons. Both of us by the way, joined to talk about fucked up moments that made you think about life for a solid moment in these mediums, a full solid moment.
Think of one criticism you have of how liberal modern day society is. You don't have to call me out as a Sup Forumstard or whatever, I'm not cramming the idea into your head that everything before segregation ended was better One critism of modern day culture due to liberalism. That can be traced back to overly liberal college, high school, middle, and even primary school teachers pushing liberal ideas onto people too young too understand. You are no independent thinker. Being religious is not an independent thinking, but there is genuine thought in it for those who take the time to really read the bible and disconcert it's messages. Tell me what the differences between a kid who was taken to church every Sunday by his parents and listen to the man on stage preach versus the child who, growing up in a liberal society, watches an hours worth of you tube videos of atheists speaking on stage every few backing up his own pre-existing ideas on the religion?

>actually typing out "heh" in your posts
>not being an autistic neckbeard virgin who can't understand why he was never popular
Pick one and then kill yourself m8

No one hates Jerry. He's being shit on to make you like him.

Harmon says he does this in his writing too, the person who draws the most sympathy tends to become the hero of the story, and the more everyone makes fun of Jerry the more the viewers will like him. He's being set up as hated on purpose.

They don't. It's just memes like whenever they bring up Doofus Rick , and someone will bring up how he literally eats shit and it's legitimately funny to quote the bully/background character in these threads.
Don't get me wrong Jerry certainly has his flaws. He's constantly a coward and dependding on how you look at it he's either more willing to fight with nhis family than protect them or reasonably more willing to talk things out with his family before jumping in to protect them of space bugs with disintegration rays pointed at his family brought on by his father in law.

>Watchman scenario
What?

>Betty comes to the future
That's when I dropped the show.

heh. pull the stick out of your ass.

1 is more original to the show but yeah is right overall. You see the full face, thus the eyes way too much in comic form.

>thinking religion is the problem
If religion didn't exist, humans would just find another reason to fight each other.

You're just an ignorant child for believing that shitty people don't exist.

How do you get internet in North Korea?

10/10 bait

>Heh. Classic.
>reddit spacing
you need to go back

>LE CYNICAL NIHILISM!!!! AREN'T I ZO DEEEP AND MATUR?
I wish WW3 would come sooner. Then these emo pussies can know what real sorrow is.

this. then they'll have an excuse to have safe spaces when they have real ptsd.

Such a better use of Betty. and I LIKED magic woman.

the ultimate terror for me, is that entropy is real, and even God has to work constantly to prevent it from gaining the upper hand

god

>Reddit and Memey sparks /r/athiests to try and argue on a board where nobody gives a fuck about their beliefs and opinions
Why isn't Reddit and Memey banned
It's worse than MLP on this board

I found out anime, porn and torturing small animals make the existential horror go away

for all bait-intensive purposes

religion is a symptom of the greater disease in man to form their morals and decisions by basing them on social consequence

wtf i love Zac Gorman now

>we could of had this

DUDE NIHLISM NOTHING MATTERS LE ORIGINL THOUGHT THT REALLY MKES ME THINK LMAO

>Afraid of Entropy, or that it can "get the upper hand"
Just to clarify, Entropy is not "The Nothingness" (or whatever its name was) from The Neverending Story.
It's simply a fact of life that since stars and all other objects in space are constantly spreading energy in all directions, and the majority of directions has nothing in it that could re-absorb it, eventually over untold billions of years, the Universe will get to a point where there are no significant concentrations of energy left.

If there is an all powerful god, even assuming his first answer wouldn't be to just make a new universe, there's countless ways he could counter-act this, ranging from as simple as removing some of the wayard energy and reintroducing it somewhere else in a concentrated form, to something complicated such as some crazy complicated law of (quantum)physics that we can't even imagine yet, which somehow recycles that energy.
It's not completely unthinkable that somewhere such a process exists, but it's either not within the observable universe, or it's in a form that we can't properly measure yet and as such can't understand.

>reddit & memey

fuck off

>he posted it twice
>he literally thinks it's funny

Please turn 18, there's a pretty clear rule on Sup Forums

They find a Rick's severed head in the garage, thinking it was their Rick's, and they assume Morty is dead.

When actually Rick and Morty were inside the severed head exploring its memories or something.

>Heh

...

I could be mistaken but if I recall correctly our minds don't comprehend trauma in a way that's relative to how people generally classify what's traumatic and what's not, so the idea of "real" PTSD can be contested.

This fucked me up

I haven't watched Adeventure Time since forever. What is the deal with Betty?

...

the scribbled eyes make her expression look so much more dead though. seems fitting to me

>instead of dying happy, Simon is forced back into immortality and senility

>I didn't watch the first episode of the show: The post

Ice King went temporarily sane and opened a portal to the past to apologize for freaking her out when he started to become crazy. She instead leaps into the future, Ice King goes back to being crazy, she gets Magic Man's powers, then tries and fails to turn Ice King back into Simon. Ooo gets fucked up by elementals and magic, Finn wants to fix things and she says she knows how, but instead tricks him into giving her the princess' jewels and the Enchirideon from the Farmworld dimension. She tries to erase the current timeline and go back to before Simon wore the crown, but she fails at that too and is transported to Mars.

>We still have Christfag leaning so hard on an internet meme to make themselves look better
Get over it, nerd.

l a m e

if you get fucked up for this you're gay and easily impressed

What's ironic is raging at safe spaces and PTSD is extremely cynical and nihilistic.

Note that Magic Man was holding that wand that kills you and sends your consciousness on a cosmic journey.

Betty's dead, dude. The writers can't be asked to bring her and Simon's arc to a happy close.

or had perfect toast.

PTSD comes in many forms and while it's easy to misuse the term through self diagnosis, PTSD-like symptoms can be experienced when faced with situations and themes that remind you of something relatively traumatic. It's like a paper cut is still a cut.

Ice King explaining why, despite a thousand years, he hasn't let the crown completely take over was worse for me
The comics used Betty and the struggle of the Ice King so much better

Why is comic Jerry smarter?

>Beth, typical mother.

Rick is fun from an audience perspective, but there is no way anyone could handle the motherfucker

>tfw your cheap tie in handles character development better than your expensive TV show.

I hope Summer gets animated in that outfit.

I have to disagree, as great as this page is. I really like Magic Ma'am. And her inablity to deal with Simon's change in Elements was pretty well done.

And I was someone who dropped the show when Betty came back. I thought that was beyond stupid, but somehow they salvaged it.

What? Morty did that exact spiel in the show, and better.

Don't know what you're talking about. Even in the show Jerry has shown to be the only character smart enough to put his foot down on Rick's bullshit.

Maybe you're only seeing a difference here because without hearing the voice that you've been conditioned to think "always says stupid shit" you're noticing how much sense he makes.

>Rick
>asset
Okay, user.

>people take this hedonistic garbage seriously
#yolo amiright goys?

Think I'ma start reading the Rick and Morty comic

Fuck that.

People hate Jerry because, despite being right about Rick 80% of the time, he doesn't put his foot down until Season 3, when it's way too late to change anyone's minds. Because he's so inherently self-centered that he got fooled by a simulation running at 10%. Because he was stupid enough to try and play alpha dog with Snowball and got his face rubbed in his own piss for it. Because he sucks, and he drags everyone down to festering mediocrity the same way that Rick drags everyone towards a fiery death. And most people would rather take the latter in their animated characters.

Sup Forums as of late loves to believe that Jerry's actually this really decent, competent guy who just needs to get out of Rick's shadow to succeed (which is weird because, less than a year ago, you fuckers knew better). But Jerry's truly brave and altruistic points are just as 'convenient' as Rick's bouts of familial affection. Jerry sold out the Plutonians until it was practically too late. Jerry forced Beth to fend off a violent homeless dude by herself while he hid in the car. Jerry tried to exploit Summer for loan money. He dragged Beth to a Titanic tour that she had no fucking interest in seeing. Jerry refuses to sit down for a day or two and try working things out with his wife, despite their enmity being so strong that it caused that shit in Big Trouble In Little Sanchez. Even in Rixty Minutes, when he didn't have the rest of the family to drag him down, he was basically a smug jerk hiding crippling issues. Face it. Your waifu's fucking trash.

They did redeem it a bit, but I'm always a bit iffy on time travel in cartoons.
Her being unable to deal with what Simon had become was handled well, but the idea that somewhere in the Ice King's subconscious he remembered Betty and that the Lich was able to manipulate that into making IK want to stay in the dream just seemed better to me than Betty appearing in the flesh

>Summer
>shitty dead-end human being

Whyfor?

Take it easy, it's just some drawings

Jerry has a lot of pathetic qualities to him, but when it comes to Rick, he does make a lot of good points.

The trouble is, because Rick is a more popular character, his detractors are The Enemy, and what's a writer to do, keep the balance between the characters or male The Enemy look pathetic?

It's an understandable overreaction to Rick going full dick after s2's development.

Telling people their waifu is trash is the most noble of professions

I guess he makes the same decisions as in the show, like the silly quips in the show.

So your response to meme nihilism is to become meme edgelords?

>that reddit space text format
go back to your fucking hole you pretentious 12 year old fuck.

>independent thought and nihilism are the same.
lmao go back to hell, sartres.

Dude: the scribbled in pupils are how you tell different dimensions apart: Go back to S1 E1: rick has different pupils from the rest of his family.
