What is the appeal of Archie?

What is the appeal of Archie?

American moe

It's the comic everyone knows from waiting in line at the grocery store

Lighthearted slice-of-life comedy.

On closer thought this is probably an accurate approximation.

It's a slice of life with consistent characters that you can pick up anytime and still have an idea of what's going on.

>betty marries veronica
And yet it's korrasami that Sup Forums loses its shit over.
>Jughead marries hamburgers
At least there's one sensible person around, based juggie.

Listen its obvious betty and ronnie want each other as much as they want that ginger fuck

I have no fucking clue. How are these comics still a thing?

I remember those old Christian archie comics. those were weird. I think betty gets beaten up or something.

>series that is known to do what if scenarios for 'why the hell not' reasons
>a trainwreck that had a lesbian end at the last minute
Really?

Corny jokes. Wholesome girls drawn like pinups.

the fact that hey make fun of feminists rather than pander to them

Light, moderately titillating comedic hijinx.

Basically the same appeal as any sitcom ever, only with teenagers slightly tweaked to remain nominally relevant over the course of 70 years.

...

It was one of the first harem comedies. The older stories are typically better in both art and the sexual innuendo. 40's thru the 70's are all worth reading. Also the modern books are kinda fun.

>King is much more valuable than the queen

Bull shit, the king is a shitty piece thats to fat and stupid to do anything, the queen on the other hand is the Supersayin of chess, able to zoom around and kill fucks everywhere, then zoom back to the fat waddling king and save him from a pawn.

> I have autism, spoonfeed me

Archie, a comic that puts the Japs to shame in endless shipteasing.

Archie, the comic that banned fanfiction only to write it's own.

nothing really happens

>a trainwreck that had a lesbian end at the last minute
wow someone actually got it in the right order. People meme'd it into a cartoon that was fine until the lesbian reveal turned it into a trainwreck.

fpbp

is anyone up to date with the reboot? how is it so far?

>PLUS! Jughead marries hamburgers

Porn when?

She'd have to play chess to know that, though.

Didn't Archie get murdered?

he did, but he is only dead in that timeline, there are multiple universes and timelines in archie so the stories can continue

The queen kicks ass, but everyone has to give up if the king dies because Chesstopia has no well defined rules of succession.

I'll buy this shit.

ANyone have this story to dump?

Pretty much this. Every praise I hear for Korra is always about Korra Asami and they skip over the fact Korra is a bad character with annoying side characters, a dull story and plenty of missed opportunities.

I don't like the Avatar series period but at least Aang and friends had globe trotting adventures, likable characters and some decent side stories.

For me, it's just plain nostalgia.
Makes me think of trips to the grocery store as a kid.

Self Insert comic

it's an edit/not a real story

If you lose your King, you lose the game. He's the reason you're moving all of that shit in the first place.

The Queen is the most powerful piece, yes, but not the most valuable. You can lose a Queen and still win the game. Hell, you can even promote a pawn to Queen.

Do you live under a rock?
Betty & Veronica: An Archie Comics XXX Parody (Natalia Starr & August Ames)

there's also Beaverdale, if you wanna take a look

Its cute
its "innocent"
its campy
its nostalgic
its Americana

This. The rebooted Archie just doesn't have the same appeal. Making it too modern/more realistic just takes away all the charm.

If you mean Archie himself, he's mostly there for readers to self insert as isn't he?
