It's official: You guys officially fucking SUCK at rating movies. Not saying you aren't entitled to your opinion, but saying this movie sucked when it was actually fairly well done is beyond me. My only problem is that the movie was 45 minutes longer than it needed to be.

stfu faggot

Ah same here.

I thought the film was two hours and 30 minutes longer than it needed to be.

It was 2 and a half hours longer than it needed to be, tbqh

If they'd made the purple haired lady not act like such a stupid bitch just to create drama it would have been bretty gud 5/5

Official non-hivemind/normie rankings:
ESB > ANH > TLJ > ROTJ > ROTS > TFA = AOTC > TPM > RO > TCW

>ruin the setting
>ruin characters
>action is dumber than Marvel
>1 hour of the movie is a pointless side quest that achieves shit
>every woman is a badass hero, every man is evil or retarded

Yeah, great movie.

Sure, as a standalone space fantasy movie it's quite ok, but the problem is that it's actually a sequel.

...

I'm with ya buddy. Just finished watching it and loved like 85% of what was going on. It sucks that Mark Hamill didn't get a lot of runtime considering he's the main character of the series, but I really enjoyed how everything was conveyed at the end

>tries to murder a child in his sleep
Congrats on not watching the movie.

Everyone knows Sup Forums is always wrong about everything.

Why are you even here?

apples and oranges

I pretty much agree except I still like ROTJ more than The Last Jedi

>I disagree with other people's subjective views on entertainment
wtf I love Star Wars now

>RO even ranked
Spotted him! That was easy.

Understandable, as long as TLJ is dead last.

But that's exactly what he tries to do but then has second thoughts but it's too late by then

Hey, how come he saw the good in his father, a man who helped usher in an evil empire that dominated over the lives of untold trillions and probably killed hundreds of millions but when his nephew is about to go through his emo phase he decides murder is the first option instead of just talking it out with him like a grown fucking man would?

Don't you have some circlejerking to do?

>fairly well done
I suppose, for blockbustre standards.

CATEGORICALLY incorrect. Objectively garbage movie with shit characters, awful cinematography, and a nonsensical narrative

Ah, so this is the designated shill thread of the evening.

>But that's exactly what he tries to do but then has second thoughts but it's too late by then
Nope, was searching his feelings hoping there was still hope. For a split second, he lost faith but recovered immediately.

my first indication that this movie was good was when I read comments on reddit and they were blasting it, when they praised the last one.

lo and behold, I watch the fuckin movie and it's great.

Based

>fairly well done

It's objectively garbage, it shouldnt get a pass just because it has 2 or 3 cool looking visual moments. Everything in the movie is flawed, everything

...

>provides no points as to why it's a good movie
what did he mean by this

POSITIVES
>far and away the most space-based star wars
>resistance plot is speed in space and pulls it off well
>despite being a woman with purple hair, holdo is a captivating character with plenty of shades of grey
>prequel trilogy actually gets some love in the canto bight sequence calling back phantom menace's tatooine act
>rey shows weaknesses and faults (actually fleshing out her character)
>kylo shows strengths and doubts about allegiences (actually fleshing out his character)
>luke has failed and this actually effects his plot unlike some superhero who is heroic for the sake of being heroic
>fucking puppet yoda
>the suicide run was straight out of my animes
>snoke was a chump and the twist that he really wasn't that important felt good since trying to make him even more evil than sidious would have just been embarrassing
>luke vs kylo
>fuck you, porgs are adorable, didn't effect the plot like ewoks, and were kept mostly in the background
>papabacca
>hoth's placement always bothered me by making the rest of the movie sort of anticlimactic, action-wise; krait at the end was a fitting 'final stand'
>the 'true' story of luke searching kylo, becoming horrified, and then resisting the dark side fits perfectly with his character and actually bridges the OT and ST unlike Han and Leia
>johnson (who i don't care for) actually broke the boring abrams/spielberg/cameron mold and inserted a good amount of panache in the direction

NEGATIVES
>finn and rose didn't do much to endear me to them
>luke's exit wasn't quite as centerplaced as I would have hoped

Overall, 7/10. 3rd best SW after ANH and ESB. It seems normies hated it because it made TFA pointless, which was good in my book because TFA was a pointless movie to begin with.

Spot the autist

>Rey shows weaknesses and faults
Could you elaborate on that?

Stopped reading here.

underrated

Gets frustrated with the Luke's inability to train her (like Luke with Yoda in ESB).
Converses with Kylo even though it could have been a trap.
Doubts herself numerous times in act 2.
Rushes to Snoke without a clear plan.

>It's official: You guys officially fucking SUCK at rating movies. Not saying you aren't entitled to your opinion, but saying this movie sucked when it was actually fairly well done is beyond me. My only problem is that the movie was 45 minutes longer than it needed to be.
A fantasy epic being too long means there is an inherent problem with the movie.

So which of the two was the catastrophic mistake: LotR Theatrical or LotR Extended?

How people actually think TLJ is at all a good movie is mind boggling. It's such a fucking mess. Either trolls, brand shills or people with absolutely zero taste.

Three ashokas and three yaddles.

There's one!

I only need 1$
Dis Bitch is just what you need my dude.

Be honest, you don't really want to know, do you? You'd rather just sit and feel comfortable knowing your gut reaction is similar to half the audience without having to actually examine why you feel that way.

None of that ends up negatively impacting other characters. I don’t know if I would say it negatively impacts herself.

>The following is the ACTUAL official ranking:
>ANH > ESB > ROTJ > ROTS > RO > AOTC > TPM > TFA > TLJ
That is incredibly spot on. The only change I would make is that I enjoyed TPM more than AOTC but that's just individual preference.

You shut your kike mouth

Anyway 9 is gonna be the worst of all i can guarantee that

Yo momma

In the luke story he has his saber on and kylo defending himself.

>Spend 150 minutes tearing TFA limb from limb
>Well done

Episode IX is going to suck even worse because this movie set everything to zero.

The entire bottom row, R2 and Threepio, and Yoda.

>when it was actually fairly well done is beyond me.

I don't understand this. The movie is a fucking awful mess. It is not well done. When a major part of the movie (the casino) can be got rid of entirely with no effect, you know it was done totally sloppily.

Also virtually every narrative thread was finished or abandoned in the worst way possible

>when it was actually fairly well done
no

In the true Luke version, he waves his hand over him to read him, falters, switches his saber on, and then there is a very specific cut where his finger goes back to the on/off switch.

luke is atacking kylo, why kylo should be defending himself in both stories if luke never atacked kylo?

I'd rank TFA a bit lower, but otherwise you're pretty spot now. Normies are so fucking stupid, they can't help BUT copy the popular narratives, without even consciously realizing what they're doing.

>actually fairly well done

But it wasn't. It was filled with contrivances and had no idea what it was doing with already set characters,

While Luke is going to turn the saber off, Kylo wakes up while Luke's saber is still on, and Kylo's fear and anger get the best of him and he goes after Luke. I literally just watched it yesterday and wanted to pay very close attention to why folks said Luke's character was treated like shit (it wasn't).

I'm not surprised that there are people who are mad that Luke is not a perfect Mary Sue character in TLJ, but I keep getting surprised when I read comments here that want the same thing. Reminds me of how reddit and normified Sup Forums has become.

>hurr why didn't Luke, like, just talk to Kylo?
Let me guess, you're the type of person who'd get mad if Batman killed a criminal?
Off yourself my man.

Yeah, i saw it yesterday too. Luke has his saber on, kylo wakes up and gets his lightsaber, next scene is both luke and kylo. Kylo stills in bed and luke is atacking him, kylo then uses the force to destroy the whole house.

Batman has alot of version if he dies there are alot of new versions, and we only have this luke. If you dont like star wars enough to understand this, pls dont talk to thia type of threads.

fpbp

not even a Star Wars fan but this makes me sad

Great blog soyboy

>it was actually fairly well done

Disagreed. The photography is generic and uninspired, just like the vfx, the score and the editing. The absolute state of Hollywood when even a starwars movie looks like a high budget music video.

>true Jake version
>trusting Jake when he has just as much reason to make himself appear in a good light to Rey as Kylo does, especially after all the Jedi 'certain point of view' shit in the OT
It's rashomon, we don't know who is more accurate.

>My only problem is that the movie was 45 minutes longer than it needed to be.
No... the time was great. The entire Canto Bight plot needed to be cut to allow the other plot lines to develop more and not feel so rushed.

Its because of children like you, who act like sitting through a 2.5 hour movie is some great task of patience and perseverance, that we are going to end up with all other SW movies being less then 2 hours thanks to studio execs overreacting to the criticisms like they did with Justice League.

Wouldn't that mean we can choose which story we want to believe? Why would so many people want to believe Luke was a villain?

I'd give it a C- if it ended at the evacuation from the Resistance Capital ship (and this is me trying to ignore all the other crap), but that last segment felt completely unnecessary.

Counting all the flaws? It gets a D-:

-Killing off pretty much the whole Resistance was an awful move, since it makes them look weaker than the Rebellion and leaves us with little in the way of background characters to care about.
-Poe is made into a massive idiot in this film. He's impulsive to the point it was ridiculous
-Luke's death incredibly stupid. He dies because he force projected too hard? What? That's just boring, it's "she lost the will to live" levels of terrible.
-The Resistance bombers in general.
-The Resistance was made too incompetent. Holdo doesn't trust Poe with information, despite the fact she KNOWS he's impulsive, so that kicks up a chain of events that could have been avoided had she not acted like a cunt for no reason.
-I can't take Kylo Ren seriously, every film makes him feel like a bigger joke, and now he's the main villain.
-The entire Hyperspace kamikaze sequence since it puts into question how they didn't bother to do this kind of thing more often (like with the cargo ships that weren't armed, and were almost always used for fucking Kamikaze runs).
-Force Ghosts being able to cast lighting. Where the fuck was this all the other times it was needed?

It's writer's fault. They made him to look like a villain when he NEVER gave a hint about it.

But the third story was the hint.

Ryan go home, this is no place for you

Everyone is generally assuming Jake is telling the truth for this anyway. He fucked up either way for taking out a lightsaber in front of someone who is sleeping, someone who is his nephew, and someone who hasn't done anything wrong yet. I don't "want to believe Jake was a villain," the way he acts is decidedly unheroic, especially for someone who we thought grew into a hero from anh to rotj. He's the example of the hero used in psychology textbooks, and we're given a 10 second scene to justify a complete character change? The fact that Kylo's version might have some truth adds insult to injury.

you forget
>barely a single alien was shown in a STAR WARS MOVIE

Perfect ranking

>you're entitled to your opinion
>but you're not

Star Trek into Darkness was your warning. No one noticed.

They made luke a bad guy when he never gave a hint in 4, 5 and 6. Its not like luke was going to kill his nephew when he never tought on doing it when darth vader was alive.

Luke is only an infallible demigod in the EU. In the films he is a person with faults, doubts, and misgivings, even in RotJ.

The fuck? He gives into anger and cuts Vader's hand off in one of his last scenes in the OT.

>Hurr durr let's not rate a star wars movie on a list rating star wars movies
How does OCD feel like?

wew, you sound retard

lol i don't know how ironic you meant to sound

For most people there's a big gap between someone who's not an infallible demigod and holding a weapon over a sleeping nephew's bed.

> Doubts
Yes when he is going or trying to kill vader. He is his father. Now he is experienced and understan people from the dark side can come back, like anakin. So why thinking in kylo who hasnt even become in a sith , couldnt?

And then he turn off his saber and lets his dad live. Ooooh you forgot that.

Kylo "I can feel the light" Ren apparently can't be turned by Luke, he's a lost cause due to a misunderstanding. Did The Room make this little sense?

> Luke
> Mace
> Yoda

15 Yaddle's

Does everyone forget Kylo was always suspected to be as strong as Vader even in his youth? Pretty sure you don't treat someone like that turning to the dark side lightly.

And he is in the process of turning off his saber and letting his nephew live. POTTERY
