Final fantasy

How would you do a FF movie thats actually using the FF mythos? Capeshit, high fantasy, steampunk, etc?

you don't

you don't make videogame movies because videogames are basically, in a way, an interactive movie and that's the magic of it

whats the fucking point of making a movie (2 layers, image and sound) off something that has 3 layers (image, sound, interaction)

it's a downgrade

kill yourself

also ff8 = ff9 > ff7 > everything else

ff6 on suicide watch

Are we talking classic Final Fantasy, or the modern garbage that VII helped create?

I stopped playing video games 20 something years ago with the turbo grafx but recently got a tablet as a gift and been thinking of downloading some games. Any FF ones after 3 (6) worth getting?

Gambling movie based on Triple Triad

Use kingdom hearts instead as a primer for FF.

Not OP, IV could be good.

7 8 9 are fine. FFtactics is amazing

>the FF mythos
The what?

I'd make a 2-part animated film of FF9. The first half deals with Queen Brahne and the second deals with Kuja.

Just adapt FF6. We could use more kefkaesque films.

>IV could be good
4 was basically Star Wars anyway.

Idris Elba as Cacteur

2 is just Star Wars with David Bowie though.

I just finished my first FF today, FF7. Cool game although it was ridiculously fucking long.

Sephiroth's attack where he destroyed the entire solar system and caused a supernova was interesting

The only reason I played and finished ff8 desu

i want a chrono trigger movie

This made a lot of sense when i started thinking about the OP question. But, IV or VI with a smaller cast on some high fantasy shit could work.

>4 was basically Star Wars anyway.

lolwut. XII is star wars not IV.

remake the spirits within of course

I don't know, Do what looks like a standard fantasy movie at first staring ryan gosling with long in fancy armor doing kino stuff. quarter of the way to halfway through do a decent cyberpunk/scifi plot twist. Have a motorcycle chase scene with chocobos. It'll be garbage but make something meme worthy at least.

XII is the prequels, 4 is the OG trilogy

FFXIII is nu star wars

An*me isn't adaptable

stop trying to do it

what if you do it like lord of the rings in 3 parts:

part 1 party meets up figures out the mission and travels to comfy villages and shit
part 2 world gets destroyed monsters errywhere
part 3 find the airship and boss fight

I wouldn't. Advent children was fine, just leave it alone.

VI has just the right aesthetics to make a Terry Gilliam/Nail Gaiman type fantasy adventure (focus on nice set pieces, less CGI). If that's successful then you could do FFVII.

final fantasy tactics is the best game of the whole fanchise

You make a weekly hour long Final Fantasy Tactics series that lasts two seasons. Or you just nut up and do Berserk like they wanted to do.

by the first 10 minutes of the first episode you have a 90% chances of casting sleep on yourself

a final fantasy cinematic universe would be cool. idk how they'd go about planning it but they would need to use over arching storylines and movies, maybe focus on the more popular titles first and make condensed two hour movies of PARTS of the video games, like for ff viii the movie would end at disc 1 and the sequel would pick up somewhere between discs 2 and 3 with the third installment covering disc 4. they would need some sort of big bad though that at some point combines SOME of the universes. we don't need every fucking main character in the same movie, just the ones that make sense.

marvel has outlined how to do it, it's just a matter of execution.

kys

5 would be best and there was already a Final Fantasy 5 movie. Ish.
Its actually a sequel to FF5

You think a bunch of rich nobleman squires murdering poor thieves that were fighting for them in the war they lost would be a boring start?

I make a A New Hope but with crystals and chocobos.

A new story set in a Final-Fantasy-9-like universe with cameos by characters from the games, basically a cinematic universe thing like the avengers, and you could somehow tie them all together and that would be the story. Kind of like what Kingdom Hearts did but without the disney stuff.

Disney had the opportunity and right to make Grim Fandango and the fucked up and made coco instead. Even when video game movies can work, they end up being prevented. The video game adaptation is a cursed project. Even piss easy projects like Hitman end up failing miserably against all odds.
Its not even that games are unadaptable. Most are simple protag vs antag adventures. It just always finds some way to get fucked up.

kys

>also ff8 = ff9 > ff7 > everything else
>ff6 on suicide watch

can I at least know why first?

The way i'd do it is make it an anthology series kinda similar to how american horror story is, with each season being a different final fantasy game.
Although they would have to be pretty long seasons for some of the games, like 6 or 7

Stay the fuck away from FFVII universe, cast stupidly gorgeous people and use a filter, hire the best and more homosexual CGI artists you could find.

Don't use the scripts for the game, don't play them either.

Just watch the intros and the endings on youtube and write tolkien shit.

let me hear you gag on my 10 inch cock first you fucking fairy ass queer

Not even close to true since 5 is the best Final Fantasy.

VI would be best as it has an actual ensemble cast, interesting settings, believable characters etc.

Everything else is absolute ass with cartoons for people. VIII might work but I hate the aesthetic.

For me, it's VI. Steampunk madness. I would make it a miniseries.

V is fucking garbage. Anything with lol CRYSTALS is shitty as fuck. It's just standard fantasy otherwise.

>That feel when you Wipeout all the rules except for Open and all

I've been out of the loop but has there been any news of the remake?

Do you think they'll add something amazing like co-op?

Spotted the turd that played 7 as his first FF.

Absolutely nothing since the last trailer

Wrong nigger

IV > VI > VII > VIII > V > IX

I never beat IX, I dabbled for a few hours with X and less with X-2 and then I was pretty much done.

VI is god tier, you pleb.

>7 or 8
>in any way shape or form better than 5
Literally kill yourself.

all the FF before VI are pretty retarded.

Get a load of this fucking pleb

Heres the plan.
>scrap everything final fantasy except for the names
>make it about Space Ghosts
>blow 130 million on it

idk senpai, that tower Kefka built is kinda graphically disturbing for normie standards

IV and VI are the only ones that would work as movies

So is your mom.

You make X first, then take 6 movies to tell the story in XII. Then make a lesbian porno of X2.

VI is concise enough, and it has the more interesting story.

The idea of people walking around on the Moon and the final battle taking place there is, well, kind of stupid now.

At least in VI the stakes are the fate of the world.

Spirits Within was pure Kino user, please consider viewing it again.

>Playing for the story

V has the best Job system. The other games are on rails trash

Ff6 has the best story... for a videogame in which you expend tens of ours.

Changing the entire world halfway the movie and doing it right is extremelly complex.

>idk senpai, that tower Kefka built is kinda graphically disturbing for normie standards
Even the music is disturbing. Disturbingly awesome that is.

youtube.com/watch?v=27bMar1ka0k

I'll give you that. VI is actually not terrible, it's just too easy.

Play Brave New World and tell me it's not fiendishly tough and a huge improvement. I'm a veteran of VI and I still die all the time in BNW.

>although it was ridiculously fucking long.

When playing as a kid I was like 30 hours into the game, on Disc 3 and my playstation memory card got "corrupted" and I lost my save and had to start all over. Pissed me off more then anything i'd ever experienced.

I want them to add a few early plot elements that were abandoned like the other 2 monsters that track Red XIII. Just so he has a point after Cosmo Canyon

Ending a movie with the villain winning and destroying the world is also pretty novel to Normie's

imagine a tower made of conjoined live espers that squirm around...

That entire sequence on the floating continent is Hollywood. Heroism, betrayal, double-crossing, a death-defying escape and the ultimate failure with everyone's survival in question.

It's the perfect cliffhanger.

Why not make ff6 a 10 part serial. Imagine ending season 1 with kefka gaining ultimate power and destroying the world. Season 2 opens with celes attempted suicide. Getting the falcon out of the crypt. Why the fuck hasn't anyone done this

Nintendo owns the rights IIRC.

I could see it being done, but the question is WHY. It's an enormously expensive production if you want to do it right, and the story is pure pulp.

I think it would work as an animation, at least.

FFVI Trilogy

I: Gathering of team, split view points until Narshe reunion. Movie ends with Terra turning into an Esper.
II: Search for Terra + Assault on the Empire. Kefka destroys the world
III: World of ruin

Would you do the opera?

Also, phantom train would be weird and cool.

The tower is made of the ruins of Vector and assorted debris, as far as canon is concerned.

I don't know what the boss spire, the final battle is made of. I suppose it could be Espers bent to Kefka's will, fused with Vector technology.

You have to do the opera. FFVI would work better as a TV show. Movies would be to bloated.

I love these goddamn sprites so much. This was the pinnacle of achievement for the SNES and FF in general. Nothing compares.

the original in all their 16-bit glory

FF6 or 7 as a trilogy

For all the idiots saying VI.

You don't want that movie.

No one else but you cares about that plot, and YOU, don't want that movie, cause it will suck.

So shut up in case this was a real request, that fucking happens and that's how we ended with a Ghost in the shell movie, that we hate.

Check'd

I mean I kind of do want it. I don't want Hollywood to do it. I want someone that gives a shit and wants to keep it as true to the original as possible. Self-financed with no studio fuckery.

They have already done The Spirit within and it was total shit.

I think VI is undoubtedly the easiest game to adapt. There's enough story to be adequately adapted into a trilogy with some minor tweeks that stays loyal to the source material.

Some playable characters would have to be cut and I feel others would have to die when Kefka destroys the world. Personally I would only have Celes, Sabin, Setzer and Terra fight Kefka and I wouldn't have Locke appear in the film beyond his bandana on the pigeon and maybe a final scene of him seeing a flower bloom after Kefka is defeated

It would do well as a TV series

My only worry is, how do you depict the final battle without going full Marvel/DC? It's an impossible situation. A bunch of mortals fighting an immortal, magic monster.

The kino is in the emotional resonance and the threat to Terra as a half-magical being.

BTW, if you are a FFVI die-hard and you've never played pic related, do yourself a favor, find a mint ROM and hack it. Google is your friend.

>16 members=Marvel
>Genji gear+Ultima weapons=DC

Kek.

Just make the final battle between Kefka and Terra in her Esper form. It's the only thing that remotely makes sense. Otherwise everyone's going to think Celes and co. are superpowered when they're really not meant to be. How can a superpowered person be in danger throwing herself off a cliff?

>3 characters+Standard equipment = Dark universe

This.

I'd love to watch the story again, but I dont have time anymore.

>Just make the final battle between Kefka and Terra in her Esper form. It's the only thing that remotely makes sense. Otherwise everyone's going to think Celes and co. are superpowered

Celes and Terra since Celes is a Magitech night. Only Terra can battle Kefka but establish Celes runic blade in the first film and have her use it to draw an attack from Kefka so Terra can go in for the kill. This shit writes itself.

>not wearing reflection cape and casting artema on the team.

They should kill him like that just for the fun of it.

>Only Terra can battle Kefka but establish Celes runic blade in the first film and have her use it to draw an attack from Kefka so Terra can go in for the kill. This shit writes itself.
Alright, this I can see working. I dig it.

You really need to bring Locke in though. He should be the one to save Celes in the final act, as the tower is crumbling around them. Just have a big reveal where he's been shadowing them the whole time and waited in the sidelines because he'd be a burden in the actual fight. It can even be sacrificial, redeeming himself for his failure to save Rachel.

>what is Forsaken null

I don't know, what IS Forsaken Null? Not an attack from III / VI.

Oh yeah

It was one of his skills in Dissidia

I looked it up and the original name of Goner, his big attack in VI was Forsaken.

>You really need to bring Locke in though

How about this then. When they go down the crypt to get the Falcon they find Locke on board trying to get the ship started so he can search the world for Celes. Him finding it can be explained because he's a treasure hunter and he and Celes get their emotional reunion right at the end of the second act.

Works for me

>VI
>concise
There's like 13 different characters with little vignette stories that barely come together. That's bloated more than anything. I love VI, but come on man

> ff8 = ff9 > ff7 > everything else
FPBP

The core story is pretty simple. It works well as an ensemble drama because you could have character-driven episodes if pursuing a TV format. But the main thrust is

>Evil empire
>underdog rebellion
>rebellion infiltrates, disrupts empire
>empire incursion into magical realm, unleashing havoc
>rebellion strikes a peace with empire and magical realm
>Kefka betrays that peace, breaks truce, siezes power
>world destroyed
>remnants of rebellion come together again to do battle in shattered world
