A rise in hyperspace ram tactics would just result in the Empire investing more in interdictors. As far as the Galactic Civil War is concerned, nothing really changes.
pizza tiddies
Alderaan was an inside job by rebel scum!
I interdictored your mom's empire last night
So the super-weapon in the next movie is going to be a hyper-drive large enough to move a planet...
This, now that the empire now about this, they will have interdictors as a must in a standard fleet. In the next Star Wars there will surely be a lot of tactics from the empire against hyperspace ramming.
How much is the bounty being offered by Disney right now for a campaign to successfully salvage their shit movie? I've seen some valiant attempts, but nothing seems to be sticking.
>Find holes in the originals and prequels and call attention to them!
>Introduce things from the EU that we erased from the canon, even though they weren't used in the EU that way because before we claim along the in-universe rules sent ships to another dimension and those were only used for tearing them out and preventing escape, not preventing rams!
>Blame the Russians!
>Stoke the contrarianism!
Wouldn't they already need that for Starkiller Base? Unless they planned to only use it on systems in range of the base? And didn't the Death Star already have one?
Not canon. Next.
Isn't this some stupid fanart? I don't remeber this ship type in the movies
No it wasn't, and the Empire didn't even try to act like it was
>Resist the Empire's rule, and you'll be annihilated. No planet is too populous, no planet is too sacred.
That was the message that the destruction of Alderaan was supposed to send. It just wouldn't work if they tried to pin the responsibility on anyone else.
I hate when edgy contrarian faggots don't even bother to stick to an actual in-universe Imperial point of view within the Star Wars lore and instead come up with inane bullshit.
Interdictors have never appeared in a movie, even when they'd be really useful for the empire or first order.
The nuwars directors and writers probably dont even know they exist
At this point, they should just stop trying to save their last fuck-ups and focus on making a good movie, sadly, even if they do make a good movie, it's already too late. Their attempts to damage-control TLJ critics has backfired enormously.
Hyperspace ram lore implications is literally the only legitimate complaint, and even that can be resolved once we learn more about it.
No one ever brought up anything about Russian, and there's at least a few thousands of alt-right chucklefucks who actually got triggered by purple hair and other shit, so the media wasn't really in the wrong here.
Interdictors are canon though.

>impliying the mouse can't just make it appear in IX and call it cannon.
they wont appear in a movie, so they dont matter. No one cares about some cartoon
Did you watch the last movie?
They're in Rebels. They are, in fact, canon.
its not in the movies, its not canon, fuck off with your gay comics, games etc..
faggots lol
If pointing out that the Resistance is led by nothing but stronk womyn and one of them looks like a tumblr dropout makes you an "alt-right chuckfuck" then sign me the fuck up.
Can you milk em?
for gravity, yes
Yes. No interdictor.
Disney introduced it in Rebels. So not only are they disregarding the EU, but their own fucking canon.
>Complain that the universe "doesn't make sense" while you can't be assed to research it.
Pathetic.
>In the next Star Wars there will surely be a lot of tactics from the empire against hyperspace ramming
Lol, no
>So not only are they disregarding the EU, but their own fucking canon.
How? First Order simply didn't have an interdictor, lol.
Wait, I thought it was stated that the ship was running on fumes by the time escape pods were launched, how did it have the power to jump and collide with Snoke's flagship? They only had enough power for a single jump WAY before they started casually fleeing to the base
I don't think the Deathstar was ever shown going into hyperdrive. Just kinda slowly moving around. Lumbering.
If they could weaponize entire planets in this way, making them crash into each other like billiard balls would be the ultimate fuck you. "YOU DON'T IKE WHEN WE DESTROY PLANETS?! WELL NOW YOU GOTTA DESTROY PLANETS TO STOP US!"
Presumably hyperdrive and sublight engines use different fuel.
The Death Star moves from Alderaan to Yavin in Episode 4.
Well... it has to jump from planet to planet in some way to destroy them, so although it isn't seen making hyperdrive jumps it sure has the capacity to do so.
>Star Wars movie. Tactics.......
Get a load of this guy
PHB should have tried to block the line of fire of the First Order instead of ramming into it, at least it wouldn't have created such a polemic topic and it would have been more "Star Wars" overall.
The only white male good guy dies for no reason, after having his character dragged through the mud. It's just mudpeople and women who run the Rebellion, and all of the enemies are white and incompetent.
It's blatantly anti-white propaganda.
Let me post some rage.
That's an original way to review a movie I'll give you that.
Then why didn't the vanguard ships hyperdrive to safety when they ran out of fuel?
they would be tracked
This Disney's made it clear that Star Wars: Rebels is canon.
They said that the empire was tracking them and that they would just hyperjump behind them.
>didn't counter anything I said because it's all true
To what end? So fucking what? Is getting tracked worse than getting blown the fuck up because you are dead in the water? Might as well fucking hyperdrive.
So the fleet would track and follow the medical frigate instead of the capitol ship? Hmmm... then Mission Accomplished.
in a universe where there are millions of alien lifeforms, i dont see whats the big deal on the human skintones and genders
>Now
You'd think in a civilization that has invented FTL travel, some nigga named Akbar would have rammed some shit 4 movies ago.
>there will surely be a lot of tactics
someone please post those webm of the Clone Wars cartoon space battles lol
>tfw not in timeline where Akbar rams the ship, giving birth to top tier meme
>in a universe where there are millions of alien lifeforms, i dont see whats the big deal on the human skintones and genders
but it a problem itself when in a universe with so much alien races, we barely see a couple of them in the movie, and almost none are on the good side, and im not talking about alien animals
My sides have been hyper spaced rammed into oblivion
You wish
In IX even if the writers have enough brainpower to put some class interdictor within First Order's fleet Mary Sue will just destroy it through the power of SJWs and plot armor.
Only way to save it is to go completely Anime.
Rey should be swinging around her lightsaber with the Force, performing superhuman feats and slaughtering everyone that gets in her way.
Don't forget that he willingly destroys his cultural legacy and himself out of self-loathing, and this is presented as a necessary part of the natural order.
He's a kike. You can always tell by how much they detest whites, especially Germans.
Why didn't the rebels just put some engines and a hyper drive on a fucking huge ass asteroid, that way it could approach any imperial vessel pretty much undetected and hyperspace ram them when they don't expect it?
Why didn't the rebels hyper space ram into the death star like this with a transport ship or something? I mean interdictors aren't canon and we never see them in the films, so as far as they do they don't exist. They are just from a video game, so not really canon. Those games probably aren't considered canon anymore anyways, so again, why not do this in the past?
Superlasers can't melt planetary crusts.
Because Star Wars isn't Science Fiction.
If we really want this to turn into military Sc-Fi none of the main characters would be alive due to the gigantic battle AIs rocking the ship in bone shattering directions.
The First Order didn't even invest more into AA after what happened in the OT
>Go full anime
Someone please post the gif of the red guards spinning in circles in the the throne room
Or...every attack involves a focused assault on the Interdictor/HS-countermeasure. As soon as the gravitational field is down, inter-stellar HS asteroid bombardment.
Use infiltration tactics to get your people on board these things, sabotage. Send message. Inter-stellar HS asteroid bombardment.
You normie fags aren't understanding. HS Ramming is the ultimate weapon. Every fight is won be the first side who gets to exploit it.
Every important Imperial outpost will require 24/7 anti-HS gravitational field generators running to protect them.
The rebels could focus their assaults on the Correlia shipyards, where the big Destroyers are made.
Rian and the Cat Ladies introduced a game-changing war mechanic.
History is writing by fundamental shifts like this.
And don't use "Well, the normies will never know. It's just nerds who care about this shit." as a defense,
because *we* are gonna tell the normies, just to fuck Disney in the ass for treating us like dirt.
*written by fundamental shifts
Forcing the Empire to refit their entire fleet by throwing cheap as shit fighters at their capital ships would be a retarded move to not take logistically.
This doesn't have anything to do with sci-fi this is the film's logic being inconsistent with common sense. If you can use a light speed ship to decimate other ships, why isn't that the primary method of attack? Or at least an option someone has tried when desperate enough?
>I have no idea what anime is like but here is my distorted and nonsensical idea of what anime is like.
Rian has watched CW and Rebels.
>First Order has the new big thing
>Just hyperspace ram it
>But shields
>So what, they didn't help the last big thing
>But its a fairy tale cash grab made by a hack
>Its episide IX+, not a reboot, the franchise has set limits and rules like hyperspace being closer to teleporting, then going really fast.
Oh shutup faggot. Nobody cares if you feel you're being treated unfairly in regards to your cartoon consumption.
Rogue One had Saw, first introduced IN A CARTOON, was user's point I think.
Or they did, just not where they needed it.
That right there is what everyone seems to be missing. Holdo didn't jump to hyperspace, because there wasn't fuel to do so. Hux even points this out immediately before she does it. Engaging hyperspace empty turned the ship to sublight shrapnel and wrecked the FO with a giant shotgun blast. I don't understand how there is even any other interpretation.
Interdictors no longer work in the Star Wars universe.
Interdictors work by creating a large gravity well. Exactly how this gravity well functions and why it doesn't create GRAVITY is never addressed. Suffice it to say, it creates some sort of spacial effect that causes hyperdrives to stop working, exactly like how they stop working when in the effect of a gravity well. This is why you can't jump to hyperspace from within a planets atmosphere, you have to fly away til the effect of the gravity well dissipates.
BUT.
In The Force Awakens we see that Han can jump the Falcon into a planets atmosphere. So this whole explanation of how an Interdictor works is out the fucking window. Thanks Disney.
Also in The Force Awakens Han jumps the Falcon past Starkiller Base's shields. Which makes HALF THE PLOT TO ROTJ MEANINGLESS. The rebels needed to blow up the shield generator on Endor so they could enter the Death Star II with fighters. If you can simply hyper through shields, then this entire tangent of ROTJ is superfluous.
Nothing in Star Trek makes any fucking sense because no one ever bothered to flesh out how ANYTHING works. And I mean ANYTHING. Everything happens simply to advance the story even at the cost of in-universe logic.
Take the trench run. The exhaust port is on the floor of the trench. The most logical course of attack would be to fly directly at the port from space, and fire torpedoes straight down the shaft. Why the fuck would you ever want to fly down a heavily guarded trench and then try to arc torpedoes down the shaft when you could limit your engagement time and time within range of the Death Stars guns by simply flying directly at the port from space?
Whole fucking franchise is shit and has always been shit.
>Gravity well generators
>You can still hyperspace in a gravity well
Bravo mouse.
Correct. Death Star has to have a hyperdrive. But Starkiller Base fires its beams through hyperspace, and doesn't appear to have gone anywhere in TFA (if it was in a binary solar system). Can it suck a star through hyperspace? Fuck if I know.
How is it possible to use hyperspace if you don't have enough fuel to use it?
anyone else notice how when the ship turned to hyperspace the entire bridge crew knew what was happening?
could be that using hyperspace as a weapon is some sort of warcrime that you just dont do because of the nature of its effects.
wouldnt be surprised considering how evil the rebels are that they would commit war crimes and still say the empire were evil
One of the early story ideas for TFA was almost a cold war between factions. Everyone has Death Stars!
*nothing in star wars
I'm tired
from what i understand Interdictors take advantage of a safety sensor thing on all Hyperdrives which shut themselves down when the ship gets too close to a gravity well.
disable that sensor and you can hyperspace yourself into a sun, making Interdictors useless.
honestly sounds better than what we got
WRONG. they shoud've been part of every space battle ever, unless were supposed to believe nobody ever thought of it before Admiral Purple Hair.
Which we are supposed to believe, since one ship obliterated the entire fleet without even trying. It's just lazy writing. Don't try to defend it. There's no defending this.
I imagine that's precisely why they didn't have him be the one to do it.
Im pretty sure in the next movie they will address this saying that what Holdo did was heroic but really risky/unethical because reasons
That was my point. Trying to use what wasn't possible to use, disintegrated the ship. Ever driven a car with no oil? Protip: don't.
fucking ace my man
Cant. The ball things are gravity well creators.
Thats the point dumdum
That is OP's point. Greentext
if it's so super damn effective they should just stop producing any weapons, just autopilot ships into imperial drednaughts and they win the war
easy
Honestly, I think its closer to gazoline. You either have it, or take a bus.
How come no one ever mentions the black guy in the ship that sacrificed himself befor holdo did? What’s with all the self sacrifices in the new movie? I might be mistaken but has this ever happened in episode 1-6? Just does not seem very Star Wars to me.
What FO needed was not one Starkiller Base, but 17,000 Death Stars. 40 of them show up at once. There's no fighting that.
Ahh.
Same thing with snokes ship, but they had the gravity well balls off obviously
Seeing how much damage a star cruiser of this size did, how much damage would something to the size of Snoke's Mega-class Star Drednought do if it did a HS ram?
Ok so first off you cant "ram from hyperspace".
You can phase into from hyper space , but hitting a target that is moveing and that small is implausible at best.
Also, interdicters are manditory in all fleets, and all suppers have them.
Warping threw or surpriseing a imperial fleet without a ship built to do it gets you killed.
Go play eve, you know i am right.
Hyperdrive doesn't propel you forward, it plops you from realspace to hyperspace- a different dimension. Then you move through that with regular engines, and plop back out.
id love to see something like this on screen some day.
the largest battle in the Halo universes's history ended with one fleet self-destructing all of their ships near the other then ripping holes in spacetime to cause as much damage as possible while flinging dreadnaughts around like fighters then self-destructing when they got close. the whole battle only took three minutes but destroyed thousands and thousands of ships. unfortunately nobody was there to see it besides two really pissed off AIs.
Seeing how much damage a star cruiser of this size did, how much damage would something to the size of Snoke's Mega-class Star Drednought do if it did a HS ram?
