Self insert character

The woman on the right doesn't look like a very determined, patriotic woman.

Basically the leader of the rebels is a woman and is incapacitated , then this woman comes and replaces her. One of the protagonist is shocked because it's not what she expected (even if the previous leader worse a queens garb and there are weird alien shits on the movie).
So he asks her what the plan is and she says

>go away flyboy learn some respect

dismissively. So our protagonist stages a mutiny , and this mutiny leads to the empire knowing the rebels plans and this kills 80% of the rebels. the remaining 20% are saved by this woman, in the visually most spectacular heroic death in Star Wars which also breaks all the logic in all the previous space battles

This too

>the leader of the rebels is a woman and is incapacitated
Leia?

Absolutely disgusting

Yes. But Poe doesn't seem to trust the new leader woman, even though they're both outrageously dressed to lead an army. It's very weird, because it implies Poe is subconsciously sexist in a way, even though Leia is dressed similarly and is much older

After Leia plays Superman and goes into a plot coma, Admiral Gender Studies is put in charge. She makes a weak speech about hope and tells everyone to get back to work. Poe, the Resistance's greatest pilot, asks her what her plan is.

The Resistance is spread across three ships, being chased by a fleet of around 10 standard Star Destroyers, and the Supremacy, a ship the size of Rhode Island. Holdo does not see fit to tell Poe her plan. More than that, she actually does not see fit to tell him that there is a plan; she simply tells him to get back to work. She also mocks him over his recent demotion (at the start of the film, Poe lead the Resistance's bombers against the FO Dreadnaught, a "fleet killer" that would have annihilated the rebel fleet when the chase began, against Leia's orders).

As the hours pass and the two other Resistance ships are destroyed, no signs of progress are made. Poe again confronts Holdo, who again refuses to tell him even that she has a plan, and then he notices in the background that small transport ships are being fueled up. Poe is horrified, concluding that her plan is to abandon ship and that the rebels will be slaughtered when they flee. Holdo does not see fit to tell him her plan, which is that the transports are cloaked (somehow) so the FO won't notice them as she stays alone to pilot the main ship. As a result, Poe mutinies against her and bets everything on Finn and Rose, nearly leading to the Resistance's destruction.

Ignoring that her plan makes no sense, like the rest of the space chase, Holdo absolutely fails as a leader. She is not a leader, she demonstrates a woman's understanding of authority. A leader must prove themselves and earn the trust of their subordinates. Holdo can't tell one of the most valuable and trusted soldiers even that there is a plan, because... she's autistic? Fuck white people and fuck Drumpf.

she has thi whole plan to save the situation but doesn't tell one of the main characters, which basically ends up killing 80% of all rebels

she wants people to blindly follow her orders, making it seem like she doesn't have a plan and is just going to get everyone killed. rather than take 5 seconds and tell poe "i've got a plan" she just pushes him out of the way.

she's truly the main villain in this story

The mutiny itself isn't what leads to the deaths of the majority of the rebels, that's Finn+Rose being wildly incompetent.

The mutiny is also a direct response to the purple-haired character withholding her plan from all of her crew members, leading them to believe that she was simply going to outrun the First Order for as long as she could, leaving them all to die when they inevitably ran out of fuel.

She was supposed to be a villain for Poe. She did the opposite of the moral, "...save what you love, not destroy what you hate." She hated Poe's personality so much that she hurt the Resistance she was supposed to protect. The hate for her is because she is a villain type character.

Wait so she literally could have solved that entire plot thread by just telling Poe her plan?

Fucking hell.

Her plot was based on a miscommunication. That ALWAYS pisses people off. Also her character fucked up, though in a realistic way. She underestimated one of the heroes and made a bunch of people die.

Would have been better for her to show remorse THEN atone for it.

>leader of the rebels
>poe

She had a higher rank than him throughout the entire movie, even before he was demoted. The fuck?

She was the spark that started that fire that burned the candle that dropped the wax that enclosed the envelope that contained the letter that will demand the theater give me my money back for such a dumb movie.

She doesn't gain the trust of her own troops, she evacuates the ship but fails to do anything fast enough to save most of them, allowing them to die, and ruins Star Wars space battles by introducing a tactic which invalidates any other form of space combat past or future.

Basically she's an incompetent leader and the idiots who wrote this schlock use her to break Star Wars.

He pride causes the death of around 385 out of the remaining 400 Resistance members.

Even if she did tell everyone her plan, her character was so lack-luster and underdeveloped beyond "I dye my hair" that her death would still have absolutely no impact on the viewer. Instead of introducing this pointless character they should've just had Ackbar do it which would've turned this disaster of a sequence into an actual memorable sendoff for a fan-favorite character. But of course not because ALLAHU ACKBAR AMIRITE

This can't be real...

Jesus fucking Christ.

She didn't tell Poe her plan because he was a recently-demoted underling who has shown to be to impulsive. She was trying to get him to understand that patience and living on to fight another day are important things. He even learns this movie at the end of the film when he tells the fighters to back away from the battering ram instead of keeping on the attack.

Yet people still go, "DURRR WHY DIDN'T SHE JUST TELL HIM?!?!"

>doesn't look like a leader
>doesn't act like a leader
>takes up the leader position because of reasons

Normally when a person like that assumes charge, they generally fuck up everything and the mission is a complete failure. Unfortunately this is not the case here because she ends up as the ULTIMATE HERO through a literally impossible action that breaks the Star Wars lore as a whole. Am I supposed to cheer when the lore gets broken and the movies I grew up with figuratively get spat on to give this obvious self-insert character a 'heroic' death? No, fuck you.

Kek

Why didn't she tell anyone else her plan

>An admiral doesn't discuss her plan to deceive the Empire with one of her bolshie subordinates who doesn't need to know, just after they discovered that the Empire has somehow tracked them through lightspeed travel which could indicate a spy is on board

Of all the things to complain about in TLJ, this isn't one of them. Operational security is a major fucking thing.

She should have known that Poe would never have gone along with the "Lets all just sit here and wait to die" plan. All she had to do was say "I have a plan, trust me." she didn't even have to tell him what it was.

Teaching a moral lesson like a fucking schoolmarm isn't exactly the kind of thing a commanding officer should be doing. It should have gone "Hey Poe, you fucked up pretty bad enjoy the brig pending your disciplinary action" or "Hey Poe, you fucked up pretty bad but your useful, here's my plan and if you don't help me execute it you can watch from the brig."

>breaks the Star Wars lore as a whole
What exactly did break it?

>This can't be real
It's kind of taken out of context. She isn't a writer for the new movie but she is the writer for the new Star wars books which are just fucking garbage. She still got to create the character

You don't act like that in a fucking warzone. You think leaders in real life leave their soldiers without orders in the middle of a battle just to teach them patience?

Why couldn't they cast a hot old woman? Why could've he character have been Togruta or Twilek? Why why why? Why the boring ugly humans? They have the resources for alien characters.

Seriously, tho, muh SJW's
You can push your gay and wrong values in movies, Jews have done that for over a century, but jfc you have an infinite Galaxy to make shit up from and can't say "her hair's purple", it has to be her dyeing it to feel unique and get back at mom and dad? And with the same color all of these twats are dyeing their hair right now?
Why not just name her LoopyLibra Dot Tumblr Dot Com?

...

dude, i hate SJW's like the fucking plague
no, strike that, plagues may be useful
but why the fuck wouldn't you name Leia?
do you really think anyone would dispute that Leia isn't fit for commanding the rebellion or what?
do you think fucking Leia is a SJW inserted character just for the sake of muh strong woman or what?

>but jfc you have an infinite Galaxy to make shit up from and can't say "her hair's purple", it has to be her dyeing it to feel unique and get back at mom and dad? And with the same color all of these twats are dyeing their hair right now?

On top of that, where the fuck does she get the time or money in a cash-strapped resistance movement to afford that?
>"Ah yes, can you req some hair dye from Tumblr, Quartermaster?"
>"Fuck off, Holdo. We need more guns and food."
>"RAAAAAAAAAAAAAPE!"

Thats written ironically, r-right guys? Star Wars cant have sunk this low, r-right?

Turns out you can just point your ship at the enemy death star, punch the hyperdrive, yell admiral ackbar and turn your ship into a lightspeed missile. Makes you wonder why they never thought of that for any of the other superweapons they had to kill. Makes you wonder why the Empire bothered building big ships and superweapons when they can be taken out by any old suicide cruiser.

>breaks all the logic in all the previous space battles
DESU I have no idea why no one had ever done that before, it's an age-old concept for a sci-fi weapon and an obvious course of action.

Did they say they were cloaked? I thought the FO just wasn't paying attention to small ships, only focusing on the big ones.

No, she's a Tumblr OC character.

why didn't they just make her some humanoid alien with purple hair and maybe purple eyes too?

but nope, they have to sell us some decorated war veteran who finds time to dye her hair and wear designer dresses

This bitch is definitely a Kathleen Kennedy self-insert. A male hating feminazi who only wants yes-men to execute her plan that is crashing Lucasfilm with no survivors.

she's Leia lover

They mentioned they were cloaked. The FO performed an anti-cloaking scan (I know, right) and detected them after learning the Rebels' plan.

'They can't have disappeared, no ship that small has a cloaking device'

She was a bad leader. Which isn't just the opinion of some of the fanbase. She literally incited a mutiny because she would not share her plans (or even explain that she had a plan) when her men needed information most.
In the end it's her fault that most of the 400 remaining rebels were killed. Her kamikaze scene wasn't even her plan all along ether, she obviously came up with it in reaction to seeing the life boats get fired down.

>the city of American reading comprehension

Fucking civilians

I think its Phasma who says Hackerman told them how to spot the 30 cloaked ships that the cruiser shat out. Then shit starts blowing up.

You have to prepare your troops for large-scale manoeuvres. Neglecting to tell anyone until the last second is just bad strategy.

You have to have confidence in your leaders. Neglecting to follow their orders is a recipe for disaster.

Kinda disappointed how the self-proclaimed leaders of Star Wars criticism that are RLM would rather pick on her hair than point out how her whole plan completely disregards established lore

low hanging fruit user

None of what you said answers my original inquiry.

RLM are fucking hacks, the only time they have good Star Wars criticism is when they compile years worth of fan criticisms into a Plinkett review.

People only follow leaders they respect. This isn't even just true in movies, but real life. A good leader earns the trust of their subordinates or morale collapses. It's not like this is secret information, they could have asked literally any military leader how to design a good admiral. IThe problem is they didn't even try to make Holda a realistic character.

Finn is used to not needing a parking permit b/c first order parks wherever the fuck it wants to. Rose is a fucking mechanic who doesn't ever see the sun.

Are you completely unaware of how the military works?
Commanders don't hide their strategy from their juniors, because it's completely fucking retarded on multiple levels.

What a competent military does is generally along the lines of:
>Command concocts a plan with senior officers
>Senior Officers brief junior officers
and so on.
This is done for two main reasons
1) So officers required to make judgement calls can do so with the overall tactical and strategic vision in mind
2) If the worst happens, a junior officer can temporarily replace their immediate senior without everything immediately going to shit

Given that the resistance had a grand total of 400 people remaining, and their entire command structure was so small that a commander/captain even had a presence there, Admiral Tumblr refusing to disclose anything about her overall strategy would be criminal incompetence in any military on the planet.

You're describing the American way of doing things. Americans put a lot of stock in their juniors and NCOs. It's not the only way of doing things and it's certainly not how wars have been fought for most of human history.

I don't hate her as an actress (her acting was fine.) I despise the writers for making THE ENTIRE MUTINY AND CASINO ARC HER FAULT AND 100% MEANINGLESS.

Pretty much every normie friend I have said the same thing: why didn't she fucking tell Poe there was a plan? Even if she couldn't share it due to fears of a spy. Instead the writers made her say "don't mansplain to me reeeee you were demoted cis white male scum" and lots of people got murdered because of it.

The head of the resistance is incapacitated and she is put in charge. She has a plan, but doesnt tell anyone said plan. Because the main characters dont trust her, they execute their own plan.

This leads to the most hated set of scenes in the movie, dubbed the "casino planet". In the end the planet is completely pointless. Then a bunch of other pointless scenes happen as a result of her STILL not telling anyone her plan.

By not telling people her plan, she added 45 minutes of pointless shit to the film. There was probably better scenes cut too because the movie is like two and a half hours.

Sup Forums hates her as well because they equate pink hair to "muh SJWs" even though thats not a part of her character at all.

>American
Try western method that's been in place since Oliver Cromwell's new model army.

It is pretty sad this is modern Star Wars why would there be a per-defined way she would look? Did they really think the galaxy wouldn't look a bit different?

>You have to have confidence in your leaders.
No you don't, especially not if they're new, untested, and deliberately withhold even the most basic information which would allow you to carry out your assignment.
>Neglecting to follow orders is a recipe for disaster.
True, but living soldiers aren't droids, if a leader fails so badly to maintain morale it's their fault when things start going to shit. Crew morale, obedience, and trust are all responsibilities which are placed squarely on the CO of a ship and their direct subordinates.

She sucks

found the contrarian prequel fan

She decides not telling any of the crew beyond what I assume is like 3 officers that she actually has a plan to get everyone to safety for no reason. Never mind this would help morale and avoid the pointless Finn/Rose subplot and the mutiny.

Some people think she was worried about traitors but this doesn't come across in the film at all and if she actually thinks fucking Poe might be a traitor then she's retarded. Never mind that any potential traitors would eventually be on the transports and would know about the plan eventually anyway. She had no reason to hide her plan beyond plot contrivance and they don't hide it at all.

Oh and she waits until most of the transports are dead before doing the suicide run that they obviously shoulda done with one of the support ships before they ran out of fuel.

I mean, it's been a few years. Technological advancements in cloaking may have been made.

>dyed her hair to expess her rebelious personality
>this is now Star Wars canon

Jesus fucking Christ why does this keep happening I can't even.

>only time they have good criticism is when they critique the prequels
>prequel fan
what did he mean by this?

I also don't like that the character isn't made to feel any regret for her actions. She gets one last hug from Senpai Leia, tells Leia she was totally trying to get into Poe's pants by negging him, and then she dies a hero. To be fair, Finn and Rose were running on a tight schedule so they didn't park in a good spot. If anything the noveu corporatist industrial scum would want the first order/resistance conflict prolonged so they can keep playing both sides and would help Finn and rose if they had parked in the correct place.

Nah, the Sheev parts are good but most of the rest of the prequels sucks. There are cool concepts but they're mashed into a trio of movies which on the whole suck.

she shows up out of fucking nowhere and then dies. i don't get why she is even in the movie.

someone like admiral ackbar should have taken over and done the heroic sacrifice instead of randomly dying off screen. spoiler alert.

>contrarian
reddit leddit memedia enthusiast using redditor buzzwords? like we didn't already know exactly where you faggots come from

>OT was largely about hope and the fight for freedom against all odds
>Disney trilogy is about following orders unquestionably and knowing your place in society
The new movie is straight up authoritarian political propaganda. Ironically it reminds me of the prequels, how Anakin was so distressed and easily turned because he felt left out of the loop from the Jedi Council and they wouldn't treat him as an equal.

I'm betting there is a deleted scene with Holdo talking to Jewnose lady about the possibility of a spy and that they can't trust anyone, even the elite performers of the rebels like Poe.

A deleted scene with Holdo talking about leadership and learning to trust her subordinates before sudokuing would've saved the character as well.

Instead we got the joke of a character we did and the worst Star Wars movie of all time as a result.

whoopsiedoo, I don't remember that episode of BB where Skylar dyed her hair red

Daily reminder, that while Poe was being an idiot and a terrible officer, if you let things get to such a level that those under your command believe that mutiny is an acceptable choice you've failed as a commanding officer.

t. USAF officer

>>only time they have good criticism is when they critique the prequels

I love pulling shit out of my ass too.

Anakin was being a whiny bitch. They would've eventually promoted him.

guy just seemed emo to me.

are you too dense to realise that
>the only time they have good Star Wars criticism is when they compile years worth of fan criticisms into a Plinkett review.
References the prequels, which are the results of Mike spending literally years arguing about it on the internet?

did you even watch the hitb episode where they mock people for complaining about being contraria....

ah fuck it, get mad if you want, I don't give a shit

>You think leaders in real life leave their soldiers without orders in the middle of a battle just to teach them patience?
Poe had orders, he just had zero context for them and he couldn't handle that. This happens in real life all the time, soldiers in the trenches often have little idea of what the broad strategy of the war effort could be, as being on the front lines commanders can't always babysit them and fill them in on every detail. The mistake TLJ made was that Poe wasn't on the frontlines, he was right next to his superior and she could have easily reassured him there was a plan at the very least. Doesn't help that the entire structure of the rebels being chased and being low on fuel was poorly written anyway.

Nah, Attack of the Clones and even Rogue One still take the cake as being useless trash.

>improper use of greentext
>making up shit i never said or implied
back to plebbit please and thank you

gets everyone killed by not explaining her plan for no reason and is praised as a hero by the movie.

You're anonymous.
When you go full retard, you can just stop posting.
There's no need for this damage control.

It's pretty much
>muh sjw

If it weren't a pink haired lady no one would be talking about it

Not to mention he was pretty high up the chain, even if he got demoted, he should have been filled in since that's the worst possible moment to leave him out of anything.

>He even learns this movie at the end of the film when he tells the fighters to back away from the battering ram instead of keeping on the attack.

Which is weird because in that situation they absolutely HAD to attack that battering ram to have any shot of survival, until Luke and Rey unexpectedly showed up to save the day.

If they did not arrive, the Rebels would have all died because of Poe's order and Rose not allowing Finn to make a sacrifice.

Do these mentally ill freaks dye their pubes too?

it won't be a deleted scene - it will be a new scene they insert into a special edition to try and explain all the fail away.

Wrong.
She's actually a fucking incompetent CO who gets almost all of the remaining rebels killed on her watch and then destroys the Raddus (apparently the Resistance's only actual warship) in a pyrrhic victory which doesn't destroy all of the opposition's warships.

this

Underrated

It actually bothered me how Poe and Rose don't get shot to pieces when they were right next to the mini death star. Did the soldiers just decide to hold their fire?

Thank you for this post user.
You made me heartily kek.
