Plan Y: Youngblood

>Plan Y: Youngblood

Alright, let's get this rolling.
Youngblood as it was is no more.
But the world wants, needs, their help.
So, who will step up and lead the Resurrection?

This is-
Youngblood #1: Youngblood Reborn

And here we go...

Surprising no one, Liefeld is doing the backup.
What's the even/odds on him taking over the main story?

fucking youngblood is back are you shitting me what is this bullshit

All New All Different Youngblood Rebirth

...

Aw damn, I don't see things turning out okay for Man-Up.

This yelp for heroes is a fun little concept.

The middle review is pretty useful.

...

>criminal activity
>sex scandals
>assassinations

It was the times, man...

Die Hard is President?
Haven't kept up with this side of Liefeld's universe is ages, so excuse my surprise if this ain't new information.

It takes some cajones to create a knock off version of the President's old team.

>Mantle changes everywhere
>Gimmick covers
>"All New #1's"
>Media attention for big 'status quo changes'
>Wildstorm relaunch
>This

The 90's are back. Luckily we're getting the good stuff back too.

>Activate Shaft

Diehard you dog

...

...

Little disease ain't gonna keep Badrock down

Cool, so she's Doc Rocket the Third.
New Sentinel though.

...

...

Suprema's whole thing is being nice.
Except for that dark patch.

...

...

...

So...where you trying to kill them then?

So what is the concept for this Youngblood. At it's conception, Youngblood was "If superheroes existed they'd be our new celebrities and rock stars." This seems like it's really emphasizing the "young" part of the title and is focusing on kids trying to be superheroes.

Oh Rob.

Yeah, I think the "help!" app is partly trying to reconcile the celebrities with the dawn on the concept of viral celebrities.

People who get famous off of instagram and etc.
And I always agreed with Alan Moore that it should be more about the "Young", since he was trying to pivot it in a TT-esque direction.

...

Am I just reaching with my hope that they're talking about Storybook Smith's reality warping storybook?

Cause that would be awesome.

...

>Youngblood arrived in comic stores and nothing would be the same

...I guess you could say that.

Next Up:
New-Sentinel apparently forgot to install surge protection.

bump

This

Oh snap, I forgot that prophet was from the same universe as youngblood

When did Troll shave his sideburns ?

In the future no one will have sideburns.
It's what they're trying to prevent.

Jesus christ the... EVERYTHING about this four pages. Liefeld, goddammit.

>he fell for the "Liefeld is bad" meme

Four or five issues before Liefeld decides he wants to take over writing and/or art himself, produces one and a half issues and then it dies again and we wait 2 years for another reboot.

>Cool, so she's Doc Rocket the Third.

Well yeah, she was the golden age Doc Rocket's granddaughter in Moore's run as well. I'm assuming this is the same one from that.

...

>Sacks of money that say "BANK."
Jesus, why not just put a $ sign on it?

So I'm okay with this issue. It's really middle of the road, nothing offensively bad though the usual Liefield-isms in the art and story were a little eye rolling for me but nothing really good or something that stands out.

I just really don't know who this book is for. I mean, it's basic and youth oriented enough for the nu-Image crowd, but I'm unsure if they're looking for this kind of capeshit and that crowd has no real background or history with the previous iterations of Youngblood. And it's a little too modern and subdued for whatever few older Youngblood fans are still hanging around.

I just really don't know who's going to be interested in this book.

*Liefeld-isms in the second story

That's why I'm hoping it swerves right into Moore mythos type shit if that book is Storybook's.
Hell, bring Storybook's daughter back.

bamp

Oh fuck I didn't notice that
