How is Candy Store Sup Forums related in the first place?
Because a 14 year old girl did an animatic of it?
considering that the threads were allowed
it is
>mfw none of you faggots have even seen a production of Heathers
>mfw the only musical most of you faggots have even seen was your own high school production of West Side Story
You people are making me regret my theatre degree.
>regret
just now?
you should regret your theater degree regardless of what musicals people who frequent a PG-13 western hentai macro collection forum have seen
>constantly fapping to Heathers the Musical
>think that the people who make things like this possible should regret their life choices
what did he mean by this?
I mean you've never made "heathers the musical" possible, so you should regret your life choices that have only negatively impacted your ability to impact the world possibly by draining you of your financial resources and giving you nothing in return.
>t the world possibly b
positively
Posting on Sup Forums at 1 in the afternoon should make you regret it more than anyone here.
dude it's 4pm in the midwest and 9pm in England.
Plus, we're all posting here anyway.
am i the only one that is not amazed by this?
It looks like every other assignment in screen design
You mean songs with animated video clips?
Sure, there are plenty of those.
what the fuck are you talking about faggot.
nobody is talking about OPs pic
I've seen the movie that the musical was based on.
It's shit.
As in villian songs in off broadway musicals based on cult classic films?
Im partial to this one.
m.youtube.com
Show your assignment user, amaze the fuck out of me with your musical
I forgot Rebecca Sugar used to be an actor.
nice
...
youtube.com
This version is better.
looks cringy and over the top
Yeah. I like the one posted in OP. It's very close to the source while adding dynamics you only see in cartoons. Like that they kept the broadway designs. Heather C. is a bae. Rip.
those are some pretty cool cats
Animated music videos thread you say?

Screw you, I like swing.
swing is good.
most jazz that doesn't have saxophones is at least decent.
You don't regret your degree every waking moment of your life anyway?
Sax isn't inherently bad, it's just that the epicsaxguy tune has been overused to death and then some.
>Sax isn't inherently bad
Sax us a woodwind wannabee brass faggot trying to play in a brass/string/percussion genre
Nope.
Guess we'll have to agree to disagree then.
I like me some clarinet as well.
Musicals are the trash of the Theatre world, Senpai.
It takes astoundingly bad taste to enjoy them.
>mfw i just heard the Postmodern Jukebox cover of Careless Whisper
boy that premise sounds fucking garbage.
my favorite rendition is done by a russian weightlifter and features a music video where he pulls a broken down van, he meets while doing his cardio, for a quarter of a mile and then the owners of the van thank him and leave in their perfectly functioning van
all while he sings the song,
kino
The majority of their covers aren't exactly stellar, but there is the occasional goden nugget amongst all the crap.
Them being a bunch of singers and musicians that just joins in on whatever songs they like doesn't really help keeping a high standard either.
That took me a second but I'm laughing now
Not this shit again
I was just thinking yesterday, "how nice it is that Sup Forums doesn't have that same Heathers thread some idiot would spam every day anymore"
And look where we are now
>gets explicitly told PMJB Careless Whisper is awful
>link it anyway
???
You could have linked literally any other of their covers and there would be a decent chance it's not awful.
It could be pretty damn good but it's missing something.
I retract my earlier statement about the premise being bad.
I didn't know postmodern jukebox was a band and thought someone made a post modern bubble pop style trash version of the song
Musicals can be weird
youtube.com
But musicals can be fucking awesome too.

shame galactibun deleted it
>theatre degree.
Not my job you make shit decisions son
I'm a film production degree which is just as useless but allows me to get stable work.
>I'm a film production degree which is just as useless but allows me to get stable work.
With a theatre degree, one can do your film job AND theatre jobs.
Not him but fight me. Musicals are the only part of theatre that's unassuming enough to actually attract an audience. Musicals keep the medium alive you pretentious nigger
Faggot, I was in my school's production of Les Miserables.
The entire performance is on Youtube.
I think I saw that production.
any be more chill animatics yet?
Nope, sorry, not that one.
I watched the bootleg of Heathers twice and have listened to the soundtrack dozens of times. I want to see it live at some point. I have seen quite a few musicals, but admittedly, most of them are recent. There isn't an old school musical I'm really familiar with outside of The Music Man, and while there's some really awesome stuff in it, it also has some of the flaws that the older musicals seem to have, i.e. songs that don't move along the story or explain character motivations. I mean, what was the point of Shipoopi? It's just a fucking dance number. Ya Got Trouble is fucking GOAT, though.
I really love musical theatre but why tf would you get a degree in it? Thanks in advance
The difference is that the original Roger Corman film was only good "ironically," while the stage musical is legitimately one of the best examples of its medium. Heathers is an anomaly in that it's based on a movie that's already really good, but isn't totally overshadowed by that movie. Same with The Producers. It remains to be seen if Groundhog Day will break out of the influence of the movie.
It upsets me that the entire production was online at one point and nobody saved it.
The Groundhog Day musical is so fucking good and I really want animatics of it. Particularly Hurt
Shit I mean Hope
>play Phil Connors
>every repeated performance is super fucking meta
Lifeboat is best Heathers
I've seen a christmas carol and phantom of the opera, do those count? I'd like to see more but fucking hell tickets are expensive and I work weekend nights.
Kindergarten Boyfriend is best Heathers
>Theater degree
How's that job working at Starbucks?
I don't get it.
Honestly, I wish I worked at Starbucks. I have steady work in theater and make decent money, but realized way too late it's not what I really want to do. That's why I'm going back to school for animation.
what ever happened to galactibun??
Is there a chart putting a musical with each board like there is for everything else?
m.youtube.com
I missed most of Sup Forums's boner for this. I watched it but wasn't blown away. It was a well done animatic but I liked the song more than the visual element.
What is Heathers anyway? Based on the song I can only guess it's Mean Girls: The Musical.
Is it just this year's Wicked?
Nothing. She just put all her videos as unlisted. Don't ask why.
>this year
Not even. It's a musical based on a movie from the 80s. Never even had a proper Broadway run. It was off-Broadway.
Holy shit, I never realized that was Merlyn.
...
>What is Heathers anyway?
High school Senior Veronica wants to be seen as popular so she can deflect some of the bullshit that comes with being in a school full of assholes. She does a few favors for the three most popular girls in school, all named Heather, and gets in.
Cute Broody boy transfers in. The word "Columbine" says so much. Trenchcoat and all.
Veronica talks to him and they click. The lead Heather decides Veronica is growing too powerful or some shit, and decides to ruin her reputation, or something, this part of the movie is fuzzy for me.
Trenchcoat says they're going to roofie Heather and put her in an embarrassing situation, but she falls through a glass table or something and they make it look like she committed suicide.
They then decide to shoot a pair of jocks with a tranq dart, but oops it's bullets. Another suicide, this time with a gay twist.
Then Veronica gets her head straight after her best friend fails to kill herself, but trenchcoat wants more blood because he's troubled and angsty and played by Christian Slater.
1980's movie, off broadway musical a few years ago. Watch both, they're hilarious.
Why aren't you happy people are interested in seeing more musicals?
Repo would also be a good fit for Sup Forums.
don't forget starlight express for /n/ and the lion king for /an/
and cabaret for /gif/
They aren't. They're interested in pretending that this girl invented Heathers and is making it a cartoon or something.
what? why did she delete it?
Jokes on you faggot, our school didn't have a drama department!
musicals are gay so whatever dude
I looked into it, apparently her animatics of Hamilton songs earned her a larger fanbase than she was prepared for. It seems the stress of having so many people to please caused her to just run away, she deleted her Youtube channel and Tumblr and made new ones, but all the videos on her new Youtube are unlisted.
Luckily someone had some of her videos and has re-uploaded them, though the quality is a bit worse.
youtube.com
I have an animation degree. I'm not gonna take credit for Samurai Jack.
I'd argue the 2nd one uses the medium of being animated a bit more than the one in the OP, but not as effectively.
I like how it sort of uses the fact that this would theoretically be taking place on a stage to its advantage and uses a lot of visual gags. That said The Heathers themselves are too openly menacing rather than charismatically bitchy.
I will say the one in the OP appeals to me more but that may be because it was the first I watched and I find the style in that one slightly more appealing.
Did a Saxophone hurt you, user?
It's to be expected. She's only like 13 years old or something.
>Doesn't have any reading comprehension
When did anyone say that PMJB Whisper is awful.
Someone said "The premise sounds fucking garbage"
They hadn't heard it before, smart guy.
A classic
Congratulations on discovering Sup Forums 10 minutes ago, now get the fuck out. Your kind is not welcome here.
Sup Forums welcomes people who can read. They berate those who can' follow a conversation.
2/10 one for each (You) you managed to get.
Unless you have literally only been here for 10 minutes, you will know what a reaction image is.
Nigga fuck you no it doesn't. You kids these days need to learn that we aren't all alike, we don't get along, and we especially don't welcome one another. Get the fuck out of here with your shit and don't come back. Reddit is that way ===>
And to keep this on topic, here's this

Whatever this play is has some nice songs.
>giving a (You)farmer exactly what he wants
I can't tell if you're incapable of assessing what you're being criticized for, or just trying to distract us from your own fuckup.
Speaking of Post Modern Jukebox, this is vaguely thread related.

Long ago I made an animation for my school using a song from them (they even gave me permission) but because I worked on it for such a long time my style changed, and certain parts got more love than others.
I'd like to fix it up but at this point I'd have to redraw and reanimate half of it.
non parlous
/vp/ would have to be the Pokemon Musical.
>Animated music videos thread you say?
Sure!

Green alien chick makes me diamonds.
Oh hey, musical threads are back
I wanted to share a very short musical, about 15 minutes long, from 2014 called 21 Chump Street. It's by Lin-Manuel Miranda (In the Heights, Hamilton) and it's based on the true story of a high school student who falls in love with an undercover officer.
Here's a recording of the musical itself
>youtu.be
Here's some animatics
>youtube.com
Here's a zip of the soundtrack, only 5 songs
>drive.google.com
And for those who watch the musical, here's an interview with the real Justin Laboy
