For a series that has some of the most iconic music in film-history they sure fucked it up in the sequel trilogy. Can you name even a single memorable piece from TFA/TLJ?
Fuck, even the PREQUELS had good music (picture related). How did the Mouse let this happen?

Disney refuses to have a decent score on films. They'd much rather have something generic and inoffensive play in the background. See the MCU music.

March of the Resistance.
But I only remember it because I really fucking hate it.

The movies are a total cocktease as well, mixing in those bits of the original triology's music that you try to get into then it switchs to the new garbage before you can enjoy it.

So are you saying you don't like the ST holy crap Sup Forums I had no idea

Williams phoned in both scores so far. Only Giacchino has any concern for quality and he's a little too reserved to make grand musical statements of the same calibre.

Also Rey's theme

Williams has either lost his touch or he isn't even trying.

Honestly would you be trying with the uninspiring shit happening on screen?

Did the new Star Wars movies also cause the flu vaccine to not work???

Don't be a sassy molassy.

what?

That's at least a little bit memorable, but it's mostly just "generic casino music".

Did star wars actually give plinkett polio?

Is the only one up there with PT and OT.

Not really, it’s not bad but it isn’t memorable.

I can answer this one. It wasn't John Williams fault.

I have a friend who works in the music industry. He has a lot of contact with people who work with movie soundtrack mixing. He explained it to me. For the past decade or so, studios are shying away from melodic soundtracks with leamotifs and themes, torwards a rhythmic based soundtrack. It must be as bland as it is loud. The reason for this is because millenials consider melodic soundtracks as dated. Same as narration in trailers, it's millenial poison. There are a few exceptions like Pixar, but they usually treat music as a layer on their art.

For this new trilogy Disney knew they could not have old school, and could not have that usual crap. It stands in between. They asked JW to do it as bland as possible.

Another thing R1 did better

I personally enjoy melodic music; no idea why anyone would hate it. Real shame Star Wars is also moving away from them.

Proper movies not targeted at women and (man)children still have good music, no worries

The super duper mega death star that can auto aim kill any planet(s) instantly and how that captain phasmq person just lowered the shields killing probably thousands for her Comrades

The Scavenger leading into Rey’s theme is great.
