Pepe is DEAD!

I'm out of town so won't be reading, have fun owls

RIP PEPE

what was good this week because I don't think I read anything or not or shit, it's been a long fucking week?

I gotta fucking reinstall Windows tomorrow, fuck

boo you whore

Also you owls of any culture

metopera.org/Season/Radio/Free-Live-Audio-Streams/

I'm drinking a bottle of tempranillo and shitposting about the gala on twitter

People are fucking burning Secret Empire comics lol

I fucking lost it, it's sub-Aja

she burned her own hand

I just can't believe people are getting this triggered over your average "hero goes bad" story, while no one threw a shitfit over Injustice. Fuck the MCU desu.

the 'Artist's Rendition' gag would be funnier if it wasn't drawn by Allred.

Yeah, the degree of treating Cap like a bona-fide icon weirds me out

Okay now we're at our usual time so HI THERE

Injustice isn't canon.

The reasons people are so upset over Secret Empire are so complex in their stupidity I could write an essay over it. It's the highest degree of angry mob psychology.

The people who are all "Secret Empire is THE REASON right-wingers I don't like are using Cap as an icon" are too fucking stupid for words

Hate the story all you fucking want, but the power some people are giving it as a story is astonishing

>Injustice
>canon

If HydraCap were basically Red Son, less people would be having a fit and their opinions would be less valid.

I haven't been on Sup Forums much past week or so but man I've seen a lot of Sup Forums shit pop up elsewhere by people who don't know it's Sup Forums.

I still find it hilarious that RHATO and Batman Beyond are selling more than Batgirl.

With her movie being more like Simone's, how long until Barbara has sometihng horrible happen to her and she gets all dark and edgy as a result?

Oh son, there are SO many things the State of Texas will execute you for

Hey tex, did you see the preview of the next wonder woman issue featuring art by Mirka? I find it amusing to think that Cale hates Diana because she dropped her spaghetti on a charity date

Injustice obviously isn't canon, but it's popular with casuals and will cloud their idea of how Superman is for years to come. Right now we have people who honestly believe what happened in the game could happen in the regular comics. Fuck, there were people who thought they were adapting Injustice for BvS.

I also find the crossover between people who are self-confessed communists/radical socialists and who are also deeply invested in a corporate character sorta idiotic.

I know gay luxury space communism is a meme or w/e but just, think a little bit.

Hello, Storyteller.

... So, you know I don't much care for recs. But since I'm trying to be less of a pain in the ass, I was perhaps wondering if you knew of any books that make prominent use of visual storytelling.

Cause the thing is, despite comics being a visual medium, a lot of them seem often over reliant on dialogue and narration, which honestly baffles me. And not even just the obvious offenders like Bendis, even good comics tend to ramble a bit. And it's especially aggravating in this current age of rampant decompression, where you would think the extra length would be used to frame scenes more thoroughly than usual, but nope, more text which is often completely extraneous.

So, yeah, got any suggestions?

Well that ain't DC's fault, the game isn't the main comics and vice versa

If dumb people think it is then they'll be in for a surprise should they put up main canon Superman

Ahoy roy,

Waifu Academy's "Two Character models: Male and Female" makes Nova look like SHIT.

Like, goddamn, they need a short model for him and Moon Girl.

If it got the same amount of promotion but wasn't 616, you bet your fucking ass people would be just as mad. These people don't read comics, so they wouldn't understand that it's AU in the first place. They're faggots, just like OP.

ugh, why even live

Long Live Pepe?

Apparently Marvel actually put out a "it's an event and shit will get cleaned up, just wait" article and people lost their shit over that too

Steve's Red/White/Blue Attack Team when

Hmmm. I'm gonna think about that, books where the visuals really carry the storytelling

You can't kill memes you can only overtake or reincorporate them with new memes.

Even Diana's enemies are gay for her. I approve of this.

Chris Burnham was pretty scathing about that

Also, Joe Hill sick burned two comics people who tried to pull him into a shitfight

They did:

>what was good this week because I don't think I read anything or not or shit, it's been a long fucking week?

I think we may have already talked that on Wednesday? Thursday? Last story time.
Flintstones. Nova. DugGotG was okay (Moondragon is probably dead again), Other stuff...

I don't remember what actually came out this week, I'm dropping behind on week to week reading.

Are there any caveats on this Cranky? Only US comics, only capes?

desu it's pretty much them saying "don't be mad, keep buying, THEN you can get angry because we don't care after we get your money"

>metopera.org/Season/Radio/Free-Live-Audio-Streams

Neat.
I'm remote enough I don't get CBC Radio 2 and their Met broadcasts.

Yeah, I've been kind of *___* with work this week

Hail Wojak

Personally more annoyed by Jason Aaron retconning Mjolnir into an evil storm and worthiness = Viking ideals 2BH.

Samurai Jack needs to be confined to a general.

They do a lot of webcasts during the season which is also niiiiice

Man, this is also Milligan Going Places

Nah, I'm not terribly picky.

Speaking of which, Rich the Leech also spoiled stuff from SE 2 and 3 today.
I'm on mobile, so forgive the formatting:

Issue 2 ends with a twist challenging the reading public’s interpretation of the entire series. It all depends on your view over what’s going on. And there will be multiple interpretations. But that will be a matter for debate. It is also possible if that event had been seeded more strongly earlier in the Captain America run that there would be a lot less fuss right now. But that will be a matter for debate
Yes, they have Hydra Youth.
You should google for “Overton window” before reading issue 3.

There's more, but I am on mobile like I said.

Also for your sometime perusal: an interview with the star of the Met's current Traviata. cbc.ca/radio/q/wednesday-april-12-2017-michael-fabiano-terence-davies-danny-rubin-and-more-1.4065582/tenor-michael-fabiano-on-taking-risks-and-keeping-opera-relevant-1.4065764

Man the main problem with SE really is Nick Spencer, huh. He can't take criticism, he can't not fight somebody and he can't write this at quite the level he wants to. Still, maybe it'll get good going in.

...

wtf i love spongebob again

There's the comic this comes from which was entirely illustrated with no words, but I can't for the life of me remember what it was called.

>this event is nothing but Nick Spencer sabotaging himself because he can't take criticism

That would be hilarious desu

WTF

that was awesome

>wtf i love spongebob again
Based Spongebob.

Is cannabilism one of them? This guy strikes me as the type to rape, murder and eat children.

Haunter by Sam Alden.

It totally is

With this in mind, here's a serious question: Is Nick Spencer on his way to becoming the next Ken Penders?

Why would you send arcade cabinets to space instead of just a joystick and an emulator?

I am busting the fuck up at this story about Renee Fleming not realizing the UK uses miles

...

God, is there a Marvel Character who's mythos isn't 100% fucked right now?

that's brutal

That's from Haunter.

studygroupcomics.com/main/haunter-part-1-by-sam-alden/

If you want other stuff you can read right now I can shout out for Emily Carroll and Tillie Walden. Both have free comics up and they're good at stuff with a low dependency on words (but not all their comics are like that).

I don't know if you want pure visual spectacle or something specific but I can shout out for A Girl On the Shore, which is like dirty teen Japanese drama so I'm hesitant to rec Cranky it, as having some of the best body language and visual language I've ever seen in a comic. Also Takemitsu Zamurai, or basically anything by Taiyō Matsumoto, for great use of dramatic visuals and distortion for that effect.

Island has an entirely wordless strip that runs in it, A Land Called Tarot, by Gael Bertrand.

>Ken Penders
what did he do

>God, is there a Marvel Character who's mythos isn't 100% fucked right now?
Moon knight and OML ??

He's the guy that invented Knuckles from Sonic, but not actually Knuckles from Sonic.

When he gets that netflix series marvel will do something to fuck him up

Goddamn, Mark Russell is doing a Spongebob Comic?

Hi, I know I'm little slow tonight, it's opera+wine night

I love you owls

....this....hits.

Why does the 'bob know so much about comic industry?

Oh also, the only reason why there's such a lack of variety is the monopolistic distribution system.

"Comics = Superheroes" is only true because Superhero fans were the only ones willing to trek out for a dedicated store, and are therefore the only ones with staying power.

Hey storyteller,
I finished The Unwritten for the first time on the weekend, and finishing it makes the reasons you don't like Carey even more confusing. In that series, he wrapped up every character and storyline by the end of it, which makes his actions in his prowse stories (Felix Castor, I think you said) even more confusing.
All in all I enjoyed it, even though the Fables segment killed the pace and weakened it for the final few issues.

>When he gets that netflix series marvel will do something to fuck him up
Well somehow he Survived bendis.

>"Comics = Superheroes" is only true because Superhero fans were the only ones willing to trek out for a dedicated store, and are therefore the only ones with staying power.
More like the comics code murdered just about every other genre of comics

I read somewhere that he's said when the money is full that the last book will happen, but I'm still a bitch about it

RIP. Heroes World Distribution Co., originally named Superhero Enterprises, was an American comic book distributor founded by Ivan Snyder, active from 1975 to 1997, during the growth and consolidation of the direct market. Heroes World was acquired by Marvel Comics in late 1994 to act as the publisher's sole distributor. This ill-fated move, combined with other marketplace factors of the time, resulted in the financial failure of many other comics distributors and retailers — and the near collapse of the entire North American comic book market.

>I read somewhere that he's said when the money is full that the last book will happen
RIP Orc Stain.

>More like the comics code murdered just about every other genre of comics
And marvel purchasing heroes world.

THANKS MARVEL

Ya know, people shit on DC for "constantly rebooting", but Marvel is a pretty good argument for why comics universes need to have continuity flushed periodically.

It has a lot of words but I actually think TDKR is an OK example. You can cut out the words and still get a lot of the story. Miller in general is a good visual storyteller.

I'm more of a WORDSWORDSWORDS kind of person so it's hard for me to think of stuff I might own that has no words.

>THANKS MARVEL
This.

The UK uses miles?

... Then what the fuck am I using metric units for? All the time, I keep getting shit because "Pleb murricans, still using that primitive imperial shit. What idiots!". Well fuck you too, filthy hypocrites.

What do they have in common? Spencer doesn't seem to care much about his OCs at all.

The UK uses metric units except where it doesn't.

WTF I can't post

Blatant lies.

That totally applies to Sin City too. Sin City is like style running on fumes.

I keep getting CONNECTION ERROR trying to post the next pages

Imperial units are more practically-sized than metric.

>... Then what the fuck am I using metric units for?
Are you a scientist? Because otherwise I don't see what's wrong with using imperial units.

GODDAMMIT

...

Like Britain is ever gonna give up something with the word "Imperial" in it entirely.

It killed True Crime, and Horror. For like 15 until somebody realized that doing them in black and white magazine format was a loophole around it.

Every other genre (humor, western, romance, etc.) continued to have a pretty healthy life into the 70s, by which point horror was coming back anyway.

The CIA is trying to keep you from revealing what they did to X-Force.

fuuuuck

>The CIA
??

WHAT A TWIST

What the fuck is wrong with Spike?

...

Damn dude that's a messy death for trying to get revenge (sorta?) for your sick daughter. Also wow so many members of X-Force are complete assholes.

this first letter is amazing

Oh. That's the fuck that's wrong.
