yoooooo

I was hoping for an animated film in the style of the Goon test footage, but I'm fine with this.

What the fuck is this, April fools?

Color me wet and excited

Well I like Neil Marshall and I like David Harbour but I don't think I like this idea very much.

>r rated reboot

So will this follow the comics more directly or be its own thing again?

>Hellboy back
>Hellboy not really back

Why are you excited? It's a reboot not Hellboy 3

B-but Ron Perlman...

>R-Rated
It better cling to the comics.

it'll be porn
>liz x fishman

>No del toro
Dropped

Yes yes all my YES.

M O N K E Y ' S P A W

...

>Hellboy 3
>Not Del Toro
>Not Perlman
Is this going to be direct-to-video or something?

I don't believe it

I hope they just adapt one of the cooler stories, like the one with the Appalachian witches.

If they don't get Ron back then what's the point?

...

I don't mind a reboot but why not Del Toro and Perlman?

>New Hellboy movie
YAAAAY!

>Not directed by Del Toro
Aw.

>Director is some guy that does the show about honkies with swords
What?

>R-rated reboot.
Uuuhh....

Maybe it's the story-arc for Hellboy in Hell,he's just dead for the whole thing

Perlman, great as he is, is probably too old to properly play Hellboy now.

>Mignola jumping on the sequel wagon now

DURR LET'S BRING BACK 2003 INSTEAD OF TRYING TO FIX THE CURRENT YEAR GAIZ

NOSTALGIA SELLS AND WERE FUCKING LAZY

I have hope not hype

then let it end.

no perlman NO FUCKING HELLBOY.

>R-Rated Hellboy

Why, though?

I mean, I guess it's pretty violent, and sometimes there are topless statues or demons, but Hellboy is good clean fun unless you're someone who freaks out about heathens whenever mythology gets brought up

>about heathens whenever mythology gets brought up
yea probably, Hollywood is in the USA

>staring David Harbour (Stranger Things) as Hellboy.

We'll see.

>reboot
>no del taco
it's shit.

Neil Marshall made Dog Soldiers, and in my book, that makes him every bit as qualified to make Hellboy as the director of fucking Mimic

not really but I really like Neil Marshall, he might not be Del Toro but I'll take him for a successor before most anyone else short of Edgar Wright

Yeah. I truly love Dog Soldiers and The Descent. I hope everything about this is on par with those.

Del Toro or bust

I fucking love Edgar Wright, but he's an ill fit for Hellboy.

>No Del Toro

Don't care.

He's got the forehead for it.

Oh FUCK it's the Dog Soldiers guy? Yeah, I'm not worried any more. This is going to be awesome.

Good, Del Taco's take sucked a big fat one with 2 he needs the creative restraint he had with 1 to make it not shit.

>I fucking love Edgar Wright, but he's an ill fit for Hellboy.
he was an ill fit for police action movie and a alien invasion apocalypse movie and a heist car chase movie too

until he weren't

Eh, I disagree. Sure, he made those premises work, but he had to make them fit into his vision. I'm not sure if a Wright-directed Hellboy would mesh very well with what we know of Hellboy. Don't get me wrong, I'd still be first in line to watch that shit, but I'm not sure if it'd work.

>Reboot
Shame

But it could be for the best

For a minute I thought that little hand was actually coming out of his abs and attached to his body, like those aliens from MIB.

Here's what happened.

Studio that makes Hellboy movies isn't interested in making a sequel to a movie that probably barely covered marketing budget.

However, they saw what the fuck's Marvel and Disney are doing, what the fuck's Warner Bros. is doing to DC, they want in that shit.

I bet they are making Hellboy, see how it pans out and build a cinematic universe based on it.

Considering it's Mignolaverse, it's not the worst case scenario, Mignola originally wanted his comics to be a team book which eventually lead into B.R.P.D. comics.

If this works out, expect War on Frogs.

The Descent was great, right up until they showed one of the creatures in full lighting. To be honest I feel like it could have been a great horror movie even if there were no monsters and the horror was entirely based around getting trapped in a dark claustrophobic labyrinth and watching the cast get increasingly desperate and paranoid in their attempts to find a way out.

Good fuck but I have no idea how I feel about any of this in the least.

I'm a torrent of conflicting emotions.

Deletoro this

>Why, though?

Honestly A LOT OF stories one the Mignolaverse would get this classification on the big screen.

I hope we finally get to see Lobster Johnson. Though he won't be Bruce Campbell.

Yeah there's easy room for a Hellboy film, BPRD, flashbacks to different Hellboy eras, Edward Grey, Lobster Johnson, and probably more.

Although "current era" shared universe stories seem a bit harder, it's just Hellboy and the BPRD. Frankly despite the best attempts, I don't see Abe working as a solo act.

While that casting was sort of hilarious and fun it doesn't really fit how serious the Lobster is. Bruce as the actor playing the Lobster in serials would be neat though.

This. Even if they're typically not all that gory, Hellboy's best stories can get pretty fucked up.

With how the last one ending with Liz being pregnant, I'm happy it's a reboot, kids ruin sequels, Fraiser's Mummy is still one of my favorite guilty pleasure movies, but those sequels kill it for me.

But if there's no Del Toro, or Perlman I'm out.

Why do you want the entertainment industry to "fix the current year"?
Get over yourself dude.

I wasn't happy with a romance angle with Liz, but I do wish Del Toro got to finish his vision for things before a reboot.

Still, something closer to the comics could be.... could be one hell of a thing. Blow a few minds.

superherohype.com/news/396721-neil-marshall-to-direct-hellboy-reboot-starring-david-harbour
>THR offers more details on the project, revealing Millennium is in negotiations with producers Larry Gordon and Lloyd Levin to reboot the horned hero. The film’s working title is Hellboy: Rise of the Blood Queen and features a script by Andrew Cosby (Eureka), Christopher Golden and Mignola himself.

>Hellboy: Rise of the Blood Queen

>Del Toro, who did the original Hellboy movies, is currently directing a series called Troll Hunters
>Neil Marshall, the new director for the new Hellboy movie, has an upcoming movie called Troll Hunter

WHAT
DOES
IT
MEAN

WHAT DOES IT MEAN?

>I mean, I guess it's pretty violent, and sometimes there are topless statues or demons, but Hellboy is good clean fun unless you're someone who freaks out about heathens whenever mythology gets brought up
Hellboy gave demons "personality". That is basically a sin worth banning for in Hollywood.

I'm not against the idea, but that actor is really gonna have to work to sell it for me. I know Perlman wore fake muscles, but this guy...

Either vampires or something with Hecate.

Probably.

I dunno man.

if dubs

meme magic is cast on this film and it becomes the next 96+ certified fresh non Marvel or DC property on the big screen and more Dark Horse properties are taken into consideration

Wait, they're remaking the Norwegian film?

There's also often great streams of flowing blood. It's sedate, but it's there.

Hellboy could easily be rated R. It'd be an odd soft R, but eh.

Fuck, episodes Neil Marshall directed for Memes of Throne are actually very competent from technical point of view. I am not opposed to the idea.

Every fucking time

If this succeeds maybe we might get a Mask film closer to the comics.

They were

Apparently it was cancelled a few months ago

I'll miss Ron for sure but this might be pretty damn good

Maybe it'll be more like the comics, either way it's more Hellboy and that's never bad.

>reboot

I hope this doesn't mean no Ron Pearlman. I can understand if Hellboy is being recast, but I love Ron Pearlman.

Oh fuuuuck.

Mixed fucking feelings. So glad we're getting another Hellboy movie but on the other hand, it just won't be the fucking same without Del Toro and Ron fucking Perlman.

seriously, this. Sounds like trash.

#NotMyHellboy3

>I hope this doesn't mean no Ron Pearlman.
They cast the sheriff from Stranger Things.

>New Hellboy movie
>no Guacamole con Taco
>no Perlman

MONKEY PAAAAAAAAW

>and starring David Harbour (Stranger Things) as Hellboy.

But Ron Pearlman can be in the movie, even if he's not playing Hellboy, right? That's my point.

Pass that torch and all.

You are laffin, but Hellboy 2 was made because first one made mad cash in DVD sales.

Big reason why Hellboy 3 wasn't ever made is because DVD sales safety net doesn't exist anymore.

i thought Mignola hated making movies

>David harbour

Strong chin, this could go well

I'm just upset that there will never be a Hellboy cartoon.

It increasingly seems like he just hated what Del Toro wanted to do. He seemed really on board with the first one. He seemed okay with the second. I kind of think he just really hated whatever Del Toro wanted to do with the third.

From Hollywood Reporter
>Del Toro is not involved nor is Ron Perlman, the actor who inhabited the red-skinned cigar-chomping devil in the two previous installments.

>Andrew Cosby (Eureka), Christopher Golden and Mignola himself.
Interesting that golden is involved, he's worked with Mignola before with some prose books but I don't think he's ever done a Hellboy story

The guy is pretty big from what we've seen in Stranger things

Judging by the Blood Queen name, I hope they go with the Hecate storyline and have Based Perlman be Astaroth

Perlman is too old now, people. He wouldn't be able to keep up with the rigors of being the star of an action movie. It's time to move on.

Thanks to the shoddy animation and pacing, the two films we got were only middling. But the Screw on Head pilot was amazing. It could have worked. It should have worked. Sigh.

Yeah, now it's a China Box Office safety net and Hellboy is too supernatural to ever get approved.

nah, when he talks about it he just seems to dislike his work being overshadowed.

>For his part, Mignola joked that he lives in the shadow of the films. “”I realized one day when I was set of one of the movies and turned to him and said ‘you win,'” he said. “When it’s a really slow news day when I’m hit by a bus or something, they’re going to show a photo of Ron Perlman.”

Just don't give it a 200 million dollar budget, it doesn't need one.

He actually wrote a few Hellboy books, which are canon (yeah yeah.) and I think cowrote the original BPRD arc that kicked off the series.

Mignola's a bit dark. He'd say this no matter what was going on.

I'm so torn over this.

On one side, I'm pissed because no Ron Pearlman and Guillermo del Toro, but on the other side, I really liked the cop dude from Stranger Things, and an R rating sounds pretty good.... I dunno about this.

Wasn't nimue the queen of blood?

Instead: 500 million dollar budget

To elaborate; his Hellboy books written years ago were so-so. His more recent stuff cowritten with Mignola has been REALLY good. He's improved with time, or working directly with Mike has made something click. I couldn't tell you, I haven't read his solo work, but he's gotten better.

man, this is bittersweet
On one hand yaaaay
On the other hand I'm a sucker for closure. I really needed Del Toro's 3rd movie.

Also this smells a bit too much like Universal saying "we want on the superhero big bucks train" for my taste.

This movie is probably going to have executives interfering with everything so it can can be filled with shit that works from the MCU.

Yeah, Hellboy shouldn't need a lot of special effects... wait what the hell are you talking about? Every character is a monster or wizard.

Damn, all that detail and care del toro put into his designs (just watch abe) fucking GONE

Golden... did he write On Earth As It Is In Hell?

I.... forget. That sounds kind of right?

It'll have 60 million dollar budget with 40 millions on marketing.
