Also that its a pretty shitty movie on top of all that.

Also "muh Disney jewz"

For most it's just not what they envisioned; from Luke especially. Some are way too butthurt about it.
Aside from that scene with Carrie that couldn't be reshot to look better cause she fucking died, I thought it was fine.

Meh. Scriptwise, TFA was worse.

It's internally inconsistent, the new characters are misused and underdeveloped, the old characters are unrecognizable from their performances that made the series so popular, the pacing is fucked, it criticizes the audience for expecting more of the same while giving us rehashed sequences and characters, and everyone outside the Rey/Kylo storyline seems to have permanent short-term memory loss.

Adam Driver is a really good actor though.

>boogieman

What was the Casino Planet all about?

Yes, the SJW pandering and people mad that Luke isn't an alpha uber God who force slams the whole First Order are the ONLY two reasons why people dislike this movie. Not that it's a fucking mess or anything. God OP quit being a retard

>feminists exist and like things
woah that's crazy user

That's the senior production staff of the film.

>feminists exist in creative occupations and like things
woah that's crazy user

Such diversity

What you said, that in & of itself would be fine.
Problem is when there's a blatant, obvious agenda going on, and idiotic, illogical decisions get made in service of it.

I don't like when people say it was bad because of politics or plot holes (i mean really?) but it was a horrible movie. Too bad because i wasn't a fan of tfa but I thought this one would be really good.

>Still waiting for that Thrawn trilogy adaptation
>Any day now

Like Tolkien said; applicability beats the shit out of allegory.

It's a shit movie that rapes its characters

It lacked real diversity, not enough alien species

George Lucas had feminist elements in his films, but they were understated instead of beating you in the head with it.

Two of the leaders of the rebel alliance were women, Naboo elected a queen, subverting the damsel in distress trope.

The current trilogy makes Rey and Leia the equals of Kylo and Luke in the force with minimal training. And they go out of the way to insert a woman into every storyline Holo, Phasma, Viet chick, etc.

I hate it for this scene

Fucking gold right there

yes and also "muh why isn't luke a superhero?"

Every criticism I've heard of this movie has been a complaint about the story.
Not that those criticisms aren't valid, but they're more likely to fade away than criticisms of actual flaws like poor acting, production design or music. I think the film will stand the test of time.

William’s score has been awful for nuWars. Nothing memorable at all.

No, its because its a shit movie

>mfw Ive seen actual sjw criticise this movie for being sjw garbage
Peak irony

yes and you will also see little faggots who know jack dick about film repeating criticisms they heard from youtubers
the thing is: these criticisms are valid, but surprisingly few for a star wars film because this was definitely one of the most competently crafted ones
that doesn't stop faggot anons from repeating them ad nauseum for this and for no other film in the history of holywood because they are THIS assblasted about politics

like who?

no they ruined my favorite character and the new ones are shit, also they don't make sense and them putting sjw politics in it at every turn is the cherry on top

kek, Williams is fucking 85; and these are the 7th & 8th scores he's done for SW. They're all just reminiscent of previous themes in it because he's beyond tapped.

star wars isnt about critical acclaim you insufferable faggots. it's its own thing, the style of star wars is the reason for its success, and now its gone

Underneath all that salt on Krate, the planet was red.

SEETHING

>the "style" is gone because of one film making story decisions I didn't like
(you)

>Not that those criticisms aren't valid,
In my experience, even a lot of those aren't very valid. Besides the stuff that's pointless nitpicking about fan theories and headcanon, people are complaining about lots of stuff that the movie directly explains in one way or another, or things that directly serve the themes. I don't know if it's because people went in wanting to hate the movie, or a lot of people just weren't paying attention to the plot because Star Wars is usually a lot more linear than this, but lots of common complaints are literally non-issues.

I think that when people start rewatching it, they'll make those connections and start appreciating the movie. It's not perfect (none of these movies are), but it's easily the best thing that been released since the OT, and I really appreciate that Rian actually made this movie about hope again, instead of tying it directly to the OT like TFA and the prequels did.

"Star Wars" has like 3 different styles. The original, the prequel, and this one. Do the rest of the sociological math yourself. I'll help with a few key words: generation, expectations, attitude, and first time experience.

The elected queen shit was retarded. Who elects a queen and a sixteen year old queen at that!?

>"muh EU fanon" and "muh SJW boogmanz"?
dunno what that means, but if its political propaganda, people wont pay for it, that shit is normally free.

>Who elects a queen and a sixteen year old queen at that!?
Fans of Leon

could you shut the fuck up?
It was a fucking terrible movie. Bad out of place humor killed all tension, the pacing was horrible, the entire movie was a fucking chase scene with zero thrills. The characters were either useless or unbearable

It culminated around two hours in which were good visuals and a few surprises , but then it dragged on for another half hour. It's just not worth sittting trough this shit for 2,5 hours.

It had the worst worldbuilding in any Star Wars ever, the galaxy has never ever felt that small.

>it has a woman talking down to a man so it's 'political propaganda'
the absolute state of alt-right burgers

to be honest where was the techno union army? it felt like a huge oversight

Well the part where it sucks is a pretty big part of it

According to Sup Forums I would be a a jidf sjw soy boy granola muching cuck and I disliked The Last Jedi and think it's the worst movie since the prequels.

The shocking part is seeing so many liberals defending this piece of trash considering how it treated Rey like a side character.

And all the minority characters (Finn, Poe, Rose) are treated like garbage. And then fake liberals pretend this shit is brave or something, and proceed to ignore that the script is also complete garbage.

It had its issues. No more than the weaker SW films like ROTJ, and nowhere near as egregious as people make them out to be.
All the rest of what you said is subjective opinion.
I remember very fucking vividly how I felt leaving the theater opening day of Phantom Menace; this one was nowhere near that. Not even close to AOTC bad.

Episode 7 script was almost the same as Episode 4, just faster paced and with a couple of twists on the formula. Only an idiot would pretend it's bad.

You know shills are desperate when they have to trash better films in order to defend the movie they were paid to defed.

She was a figurehead and clearly out of her league for the plot of TPM. Padme actually explains it in AoTC.

>No more than the weaker SW films like ROTJ

Kys.

Return of the Jedi had a couple of problems, like the intro is too long and Han has nothing to do, but it's a masterpiece compared with garbage like The Last Jedi.

Not even the prequel films have an entire half of the film that's ultimately pointless to the main plot. TLJ has the worst plotting in any Star Wars movie so far and it also drains all the fun and charm from the franchise.

Reminder that Revenge of the Sith moved the plot forward more than The Last Jedi, which had more runtime.

Age of Ultron moved the plot forward more than The Last Jedi

AOTC was the best star wars.
>best battle scene
>best light saber duel
>best star wars politics
>mysterious army that is for the jedi
>bounty hunters

I know:
>but muh love scenes
I fast forward them.

It's infuriating how the average person just parrots:
>dur episode two so bad dur

That actually was the problem with Age of Ultron, it was more about moving the plot to the point they could make more sequels than about Ultron. But those sequels were set up fairly well, which is what you get when you get a TV guy to make movies.

>>best light saber duel
Them closeups on Anakin and Christopher Lee were pretty fucking awkward, the dual wield bit lasts 2 seconds and the Yoda bit was cool for the novelty but it's not that imprssive today, his duel against Sheev in III was better

>an entire half of the film that's ultimately pointless to the main plot.
The Canto Bight stuff? One of the themes of the movie is learning from failure. Poe and Finn come up with that mission, it fails, and they learn from it because their fuckup almost kills the entire resistance. It's central to the development of three of the main characters, and it's the main way a major theme is explored that doesn't come from direct exposition from Yoda. Also, DJ betraying Finn and Rose is what leads directly to the stuff on Crait, so everything that has to deal with hope and Luke's return is a tied to it, as well.

Fan Edits of Attack of the Clones and turn the films into one of the best films in the franchise. And one fan edit fixed the ending in a pretty simple manner.

youtube.com/watch?v=OjhpimduSC4

you mean windu vs sheev?

Nah fuck no that duel was awful

why do libcucks/leftists on Sup Forums pretend to hate r*ddit when they are literally r*ddit? Is it because they are conformist faggots trying to fit in seem cool to the rest of the board?

Why'd they take something from a comic that Anakin could do and give it to Han? He's not even a Jedi let alone the chosen one. ( The scene in TFA where Han flys at light speed into Starkiller base. )

The biggest problem with this film was that the actions by the characters did nothing to change the plot. Despite trying to be different, its still a rip off of old star wars but without the key dramatic moments and build up that made those moments memorable.
Snoke is the prime example. Who the fuck is he? We knew the Emperor was Vaders master, the prequels showed how the Emperor came about. Luke talks about him. But we know nothing about Snoke at all. Kylo ren kills him and then battles a bunch of guards with Rey, who masted a lightsaber after trying it out once, and then after they still separate, Rey escaping with no character change, Kylo is still evil and nothing has changed between them.
The whole pink haired chick's plan could have been done at the very beginning of the chase, have all the rebels escape to the rebel base planet while she turns around and does that bullshit to kill the empire fleet. But no, they draw out the chase sequence for the entire film and everyone dies pretty much.
Leia uses some stupid bullshit to save herself from dying, this scene was retarded as fuck.
Also the whole twist of luke being a force vision after Kylo tries to kill him was pointless, because Luke just dies after anyways.
Luke was the worst character in the film. He goes from "Im never gonna train you nothing will ever change my mind." to "ok ill train you" just from a 5 second sequence of R2 showing him the leia clip. Another tie in to the original trilogy, only two of which are actual good films.

Star wars is shit, an entire franchise made up to sell toys to kids

The last jedi forgot how to show, and would rather tell.

>One of the themes of the movie is learning from failure. Poe and Finn come up with that mission, it fails, and they learn from it

Yeah and they do nothing with that knowledge, then they are sidelined by a non-character and aren't able to complete their arcs in the film. And Rey doesn't fail in any meaningful manner. It's outright garbage writing.

It's ironic how the director/writer made a film about failure that is a massive failure in terms of craft and execution.

Yeah, who needs a logical story or interesting characters.

Good movies show us new things, regardless of how retarded. That's why you don't see people calling other people retards in public anymore, we've accepted the retards now. #currentyear

Kek, ROTJ is the birth of whiny bitch-Vader. Luke kills tens of thousands in the first Death Star, has no problem lightsabering or blasting countless baddies throughout the rest, & all that's fine, but has to become a martyristic pacifist to beat Palpatine cause pottery. Midget teddy bears beat the fuck out of Stormtroopers with rocks & clubs, stormtroopers who were giving two of the trinity a run for their money.
BOBA FETT GETS OFFED IN LAME FASHION WITH NO BACKSTORY EXPLANATION. (Caps because it's relevant to complaints I've heard about TLJ)
So, so many issues created because Lucas was tired & wanted to wrap up another trilogy's worth of story in one film, cause divorces be hard & shit, yo.
>Not even the prequel films have an entire half of the film that's ultimately pointless to the main plot
Half of the damn trilogy is pointless to the overall plot. Lucas's laziest & most phoned in writing all over them.

I haven't seen it. the video is of episode 3, though.

See, by making the theme failure the movie being a total failure means it's good! Certified fresh!

White women are the most diverse people in the world according to white women.

>they do nothing with that knowledge,
Everything that happens on Crait is the result of what they learned from that experience. The reason the resistance is still going at the end of the movie is the direct result of that plot.

Darth Vader was always a bitch, that's why he is so great. He is cool and intimidating but has a very human side.

By the time they got on Crait the resistance has been basically completely wiped out.

- Finn tries to sacrifice himself to save the Resistance then Rose has a brain shock and does something insanely stupid.
- Poe follows some Foxes.
- Luke is the one who actually saves the dozen Resistance members left.
- Then Rey appears out of nowhere and lifts some rocks.

It's literal garbage.

Could someone have any more of a wrong opinion? When all things are said and done no one remembers how well the lines are delivered outside of a couple quips, only audiophiles think about the background noise after the movie's over, and set design is never discussed beyond "yeah that one room looked cool."

The ONLY thing that stands the test of time and shows the true value of a piece of media is how long and how deeply you can discuss the story. That's all humans have ever cared about since the dawn of man, a good story.

Rose and Finn conveniently know information about a hypothetical mcguffin that nobody else knows, including the leaders of the resistance. Finn magically remembers that he used to sweep this room after being trained as a soldier/shield generator tech/janitor for his entire life.

Then between the three of them, they concoct a plan that is similar to a Rube Goldberg machine in its design. It has 90 working parts to butter toast.

They go to casino planet, have obligatory political grandstanding on capitalism when said Director works for a company that literally owns about 30% of the entire entertainment genre, and then destroy public property with alien horses, before being rescued by human mcguffin cipher guy. What's funny is they talk about how they did a great thing freeing the animals and destroying the casino, but it's the slaves and plebs that are going to get punished for it. It's narrow sighted hubris at its best.

I'm not even going to continue. Maybe what they should have learned is that the entire resistance is full of incompetent morons. They should hire someone with military experience to lead their group instead of relying on idiots. Every plan the resistance has is short sighted at best, and absolutely stupid is the usual.

>I think that when people start rewatching it, they'll make those connections and start appreciating the movie
>it's easily the best thing that been released since the OT

It's worse than Revenge of the Sith.

And I did re-watched the movie and all the twists felt even flatter than before. And the plot holes were even more obvious.

Damn, that's pretty good. Makes me wanna watch it now.

Medieval Poland

There is a lot of fan edits out there.

Heavy Star Wars is pretty good, especially for Attack of the Clones.

American audiences are fucking done for.

>always
No, he was legit one of the most intimidating & badass villains ever created in ANH & ESB; then because what was ultimately supposed to be 4 movie's worth of character progression in him got compressed into ONE, he went from cold, ultimate badass, cyborg wizard; to flip floppy touchy feely wishy washer with no backbone. And THEN, because muh pottery, Lucas had to make THAT the fucking way Anakin Skywalker always was to do the prequels, so that soysucking bitch in ROTJ is "Vader turning back into Anakin".
One of the weakest, lamest, worst fumblings of a fictional character in history.

my b

I saw this in a Cinepolis theatre.

>It's worse than Revenge of the Sith.
Please point out a line in it nearly as bad as "From my point of view, the Jedi are evil!"
A serious one, not a joke.

Are you really going to start complaining about plot contrivances in a Star Wars movie? You might want to revisit the entire series without nostalgia goggles, they all do shit like that.

It’s simplistic, formulaic story telling manufactured for casuals, with absolutely zero risk taking. Shit is fucking gay.

It's a clever line since he is right, the Jedi are evil, and it works better if you get the reference. And Revenge of the Jedi takes itself way less seriously so it's more enjoyable even if some lines are corny.

Also what Rose says to Finn after crashing into him is more nonsensical than anything in the prequels.

no, people hate it because it's one of the worst cases of filmmaking ever seen

>music and stage production are more important than screenwriting

Holy shit, get a load of this retard

>There are people on this board RIGHT NOW that are "proud Americans"

I liked the movie, I spent a few hours on release day shitposting and defending Luke's characterization, the Leia scene, and the blue milk.

But if you want to pretend the only grievances to be held against this film are people getting triggered over Holdo's purple hair or them shoving an asian into the cast you're wrong.

There are actual legitimate complaints to be leveled against this film.

Pretty much. All the politicizing of Star Wars on both sides is pretty sickening. SJWs acting like it's the best movie for women ever even though there was more stronger and competent women in precious movies then the alt-right faggots gloating about minor nitpicks and wanting the movie to be a colossal failure.

I can dislike the movie for any reason I want to. If you don't agree with it, that's fine, but yeah these things and a thousand others are a bit too immersion breaking for me.

The themes are blunt, uninteresting and nothing new. The story is boring, the characters are mostly one dimensional and predictable, and the acting is very sub-par. I literally found myself looking at texts from work during the movie and my girlfriend asked to leave early because she was so bored.

I am not entertained with pretty lights, explosions, and fantastic scenes. I like a cognitive, logically thinking story that is consistent and challenging. TLJ was none of these things.

They may not be able to articulate it, but the reason people don't like it is because the story ultimately makes the preceding 9 movies basically pointless, and they liked the other movies.

The worst line in the entire series has got to be "So love has blinded you?"

How is it nonsenscal? It's kind of the point of ROTJ.

No it's not.

Yes and going out of their way to subvert and destroy the male-dominated hobbies and interests is appaling in both a business and moral standpoint

>I can dislike the movie for any reason I want to. If you don't agree with it, that's fine,
I never said you can't have your own opinion, I was just pointing out a lack of consistency in your opinion because plot contrivances are a pretty key part of this franchise. I'm a huge fan of Star Wars, but I no problem accepting the fact that they're pulpy children's adventure movies. I don't see why so many people ignore that and try to pretend these movies are more series (or better story-wise) than they actually are.

>mouseshill
One of these days I'm going to fucking get pointed to the shill signup, so I can actually get paid for this shit.
Might as well if it's going to be the 'go-home' accusatory dismissal for incels without counterarguments.
