>biggest battleship in star wars history >an entire planet turned into a weapon >virtually no opposition before movies' events >de facto ruling body of much of the galaxy >buying equipment from rich scumbag traders
Where do they get all their money from? How did they suddenly become this giant governing body only a few decades after the last empire was destroyed? Wasn't there supposed to be peace in the galaxy?
the first order is socialist so it is all built with unpaid labor
Brandon Jackson
your fridge logic jumped over the fact that "New Republic" - which got somehow established like 5 seconds after Death Star 2 blew up - was in no fucking position to dictate Empire's terms of surrender. Empire had 200,000 Star Destroyers and BILLIONS of troops for fucks sake. It would be like USSR being conquered by Liechtenstein. These sequels weren't supposed to exist.
Ryder Hall
why can't you friggin' Nazi's just accept the films for what they are?
Almost everyone expect the sequel to be for events happening after the death star 2's destruction until the true end of the war and peace for the galaxy. People didn't expect a complete instant fall of empire, peace period off screen and a brand new cycle of nu-empire vs nu-rebel conflict to happen again in just a few decades just so they can rehash the OT.
Nolan Reed
If this was even just a one off, that might have been acceptable. Yet the problem is that this keeps happening, over and over again. No thought has been put into any of this, no preperation, and going from what has been written elsewhere, there is no communication either. This is akin to allowing authors to run rampant across a setting with no guidance or established taboos. This is something harmful enough for an established universe, just look at what Karen Traviss did to the Expanded Universe's later arcs, but allowing this to happen so early on is tantamount to suicide. There's no effort to establish set rules here, so everything is already breaking down. As more and more cracks appear as it goes along, the thing will slowly collapse into itself thanks to a sheer lack of cohesion.
Yet, Disney does not care. They aren't bothered that this is the treatment their new universe is receiving, nor that the quality of the new novels is in the gutter and sinking fast. So long as it can tie into their big, shiny new cash cow they plan to milk dry, so long as it earns them a bit more cash while they ride it into the ground, that's fine to them. It's as simple as that - They don't want a good universe. They don't even want good stories, they just want a few more bucks from Star Wars fans who don't give a damn. The sort who would never have bothered to pick up a book until someone showed them something big, shiny and exciting on a big screen.
Does this mean that Star Wars is going to die? No. It's too massive to outright kill, but it's not immune to decay. As it goes along, as it is dragged out, I honestly think the overall franchise will start to slump inwards and become something akin to the current DC Comics Cinematic Universe; a bloated failure churning out poorly constructed or incoherent messes of works as times marches on.

Fighting continued for a few years but without proper leadership and everyone rising up against them they collapsed.
Still no fucking idea where the First Order came from. JJ originally wrote them as sort of an underground Neo Nazi network but that didn't really translate to screen.
Zachary Howard
stop thinken so much and just enjoy the movie
Parker Martinez
Starkiller Base has to be the stupidest thing Star Wars has ever produced. Even more than weaponized hyperspace and alien milk dispensers.
Jayden Baker
Why didn't the resistance just hyperspace ram Starkiller base? The fact that I as usual won't even get a reply from any soyboys is evidence that TLJ is the worst star wars film ever made.
Zachary Howard
That scene is somewhat better in German (youtube.com/watch?v=JtfDbQlqvXQ) No idea about your question. Being imperial 'remnants' you would expect them to be weaker, though still being fanatical about it's ideal. They should have used a different group of villain really or give FO a different characterization.
Liam James
TFA and TLJ are pure nonsense and it's apparent they have absolutely no idea what they're doing. I only hope people wise up and stop watching these dreadfully awful films.
Isaac White
Weaponized hyperspace is easily one of the smartest thing to happen in the star wars universe Plus it looked absolutely incredible on screen
Caleb Lee
It took a woman’s guile to come up with that plan
Xavier Morgan
Meant to this

>Where do they get all their money from? How did they suddenly become this giant governing body only a few decades after the last empire was destroyed? Wasn't there supposed to be peace in the galaxy?
Ever heard of Germany and WWI and WWII. There were only 21 years between them.
Jordan Myers
Dumb fuck. First order left their planets (hence their industrial base) and retreated into the unknown regions. Comparing them with Germany (which was largely intact after the Treaty of Versailles) is moronic.
Jack Price
>So smart it makes every other battle, even the one at the start of the same movie it features, retarded
Jayden Brooks
god dubs are horrible with that lip syncing
Leo Davis
There was a rumor that shnook was actually a wealthy 1%er that was paying to arm the first order all to continue the strife in the galaxy to generate more in profits for himself. There was the scene with the hacker guy who was talking about how the ship builders built things like both chicken walkers and x-wings.
It would of been an interesting story to with but they never did it.
Jeremiah Howard
Uh, sweety, it's not my job to educate you.
This.
Noah Stewart
>First order left their planets (hence their industrial base) and retreated into the unknown regions.
Is that from a EU book or comic? Because this was never explained in the films. Or is it your own head canon?
Liam Johnson
Let me explain what happened after Emperor and Wader's deaths, and destruction of the Death Star 2. First, there would be some amount of infighting within the Empire, with a lot of confusion within military flowing decapitation of the chain of command and a lot of desertions/becoming local warlords, while Rebels (now New Republic) would take system after system, sector after sector - excluding those who decided they can live on their own, thank you very much, and had military force to back it up - until, eventually, Empire got a new leader, most likely some general/admiral. Eventually that would lead to a stalemate and trying to win over each star system, either by alliances on conquering them, and arms race. See Cold War 1.0. Both would claim to be rightful heirs of the late Republic, with Empire having Coruscant, while New Republic having politicians. Republic would have financial and political troubles, while Empire would have problems with keeping territories under control and putting off rebellious fires rising here and there, spreading their forces tin. This would taken something like 20 or so years, because Empire wouldn't dare to spend money and power on another useless super weapon, while Republic wouldn't have enough forces to win with sheer numbers. What would happen afterwards is anyone guess, but fro the First Order and Rebels to exist, and for them both buying from the same arms merchants, both Republic and Empire had to fail, and de facto each sector and star system wold be on their own and for a new alliance that would exclude elements from the former failed states, i.e. something like Trade Federation. In other words, "Rebells" and "First Order" are a bunch of guerrillas continuing their fight while the rest of the Galaxy threat it as entertainment at best and moving on. If some of those two emerge victorious, they will be destroyed by this Federation military with extreme prejudice.
Justin Ross
>Is that from a EU book or comic? Aftermath and Nu-Battlefront 2 went over it. The Emperor's contingency plan in the latter was to just burn all the infrastructure as well, which makes the FO pulling bigger and better superweapons out if their asses even more retarded, it's like Nazis returning from their secret antarctic bases with actual wunderwaffe.
Colton Sullivan
nice headcanon
Elijah Allen
That should be >Let me explain what WOULD happened I.e. not "Empire just magically ceased to exist and a New Republic taken over everything right there". And a Trade Federation was defeated only ~20 years ago.
Noah Bailey
It's possible they got all their funding from Snoke himself. He seemed pretty well off with the way he dresses and acts.
Charles Brown
according to my headcanon: >snoke borrowed a huge amount of money from bankers in the hosnian system >first order blews up the hosnian system >mfw the whole deathstar 3 (or whatever) was basically for free
it explains why he was so casual about losing the station
Christopher Russell
space drumpf funded them
Christian Perez
Well the Starkiller base is in the "unknown regions" of the galaxy, from TFA dictionnary.
Julian Foster
Stop trying to mansplain this universe cis scum. Wymun are in charge now...which means they don't understand economics. Therefore everything is likely put on the plot credit card to be paid off later by someone else.
