I keep seeing that guide to reading Cosmic Marvel, but what about Cosmic DC? Is it just the Lanterns and the New Gods, or is there more?

There used to be more. Then the New Gods got killed off and Geoff Johns made everything into a Lantern. We've only just begun to recover.

The reason you see the Cosmic Marvel guide is that there's a very specific run Sup Forums loves. It completely ignores Starlin's epics for example.

DC is a vastly more cosmic company than Marvel, and there's so much stuff it's hard to even start

There's the Legion of Super-Heroes, it's prequel/spinoff L.E.G.I.O.N, Hawkman sometimes, Adam Strange...

For some reason though, cosmic stuff just hasn't been that prominent. Which is odd considering how popular GotG is, as well as the return of Star Wars to the big screen, you'd think everyone would be trying to get in on that delicious space money.

Most of cosmic DC in importance is LoSH to me. Most of the alien races and history come from there and the Superbooks rather than GL.

back in 09-ish Starlin was making a book that was basically a DC version of Guardians of the Galaxy. Doing the same type of thing, grabbing a lot of forgotten characters and B-tier heroes and putting them together in a team against a new big bad.

Gavyn Starman
Captain Comet
Adam Strange
Hawkman
Bizarro
The Weird

They lived on a large cosmopolitan space station, had a psychic talking dog, and fought a guy that was basically Thanos in almost every way.

As well as Omega Men, they covered a lot of the known aliens in DC space topo

So they fought a guy who was a ripoff of a ripoff of Darkseid?

Starman always gets forgotten.

Starlin only really likes to use one bad guy. Steroid ripped alien guy from deep space who is a master plotting type in a comfy chair that is trying to obtain absolute godhood. While wearing lots of spikes, chains, and little skulls.

fuck

This guy really is a ripoff of Monganoseid

With little skull kneepads

>Guy from Earth who is on alien adventures
>Guy with alien power bands
>psychic powered human in space
>brutal alien fighter/brawler guy with knives
>big powerful retard
>wacky comic relief character leftover from the 80's
>talking psychic dog
>they hang out together on a major space port station with tons of aliens hanging at the bar

whelp, they were were DC Guardians of the Galaxy

Because Batman isn't in it.

Then send one of the Robins into space. Bring Tim back to life or something. Maybe that's what could give Tim Drake some purpose in the DCU.

This counts right?

It would be nice of the green lanterns did absolutely anything other than constantly fighting other colored lanterns.

They have not been space sops since at least 2010. They just fight random lanterns, other guys that also use lantern energy, other dimensional people that use it, or other things the Guardians built way back when.

Wasn't it adventure comics or adventure in space or something?

DC doesn't have a streamlined Cosmic saga like Marvel. DC has a lot of unused cosmic characters lying around, like

The current runs are trying to get away from that, though slowly. Green Lanterns just had an arc about them vs Dr Polaris

DC cosmic is Lantern shit, Fourth World and all those ancient hold over characters like Starman and Adam Strange that are good once in a while but not really series material.

Superman pretty much has appropriated most "cosmic" DC as well.

Omega men?
If only they would do a reboot of space cabbie
