>In a recent Fandango moviegoer poll, 92% said that they are looking forward to seeing a movie featuring a standalone female superhero. That’s a stat to take to the bank, as tracking for Wonder Woman is expected to climb to $75M by next week.
>In fact when Fandango polled moviegoers before Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice bowed last year, 88% said that Wonder Woman’s big screen debut was the main reason why they wanted to see the Zack Snyder-directed movie.
>Other findings from those 1,000 polled on Thursday: 87% wish Hollywood would make more movies featuring female superheroes, while 80% claim Gal Gadot’s appearance as Wonder Woman was one of their favorite parts of last year’s hit Batman v. Superman (which opened to $166M). In addition, 65% are excited Wonder Woman was directed by a female filmmaker, Patty Jenkins.
It costs nothing to say you're interested in a movie. Also Gadot was fucking terrible in BvS, so 80% of people are retards.
Leo Lopez
Also, this is Sup Forumsshit. You aren't discussing the content of a CBM, you're talking about polls with small sample sizes as some roundabout way of saying that WW will do well at the BO.
Julian Campbell
>92% said that they are looking forward to seeing a movie featuring a standalone female superhero just not Blunder Womyn
Gabriel Hall
>hat’s a stat to take to the bank, as tracking for Wonder Woman is expected to climb to $75M by next week. What? $75M is really bad tracking for what should be WB's first summer blockbuster.
They should be hoping for $150M+
Leo Torres
It'll be a terrible movie too I honestly wouldn't care about this affirmative action bullshit if the movies with female leads were actually good. Reminder that the new Star Wars movies have ~90% positive ratings on RT. Fuck modern cinema desu.
Camden Howard
The fact is "badass" female characters are hot right now. Not strong female characters, just ones who effortlessly kick everyone's ass and have no flaws.
That's why they want to turn her into this violent character who uses a sword. That plays better to millennials.
What will hold the movie back is that older audiences and little kids don't give a shit about that stuff. She's completely unrecognizable to people who grew up with the TV show or Super Friends, and she's not cool enough to sell action figures. Families will have no interest in this movie.
Ironically the DC Superhero Girls version of her is going to sell way better than any of the movie toys.
>80% of people are retards Welcome to America, dude. People (mostly people in their teens and 20's) loved Wonder Woman in BvS, only Sup Forums hated her. Whether it's "virtue signalling" or not that's what young people care about.
Seriously, get out of your fucking house and you'll see young people ARE excited for this movie. Yes, it's the same retards who love trash like 300 and Underworld and Fast and the Furious, but there's a lot of those people and they have money.
The thing is time and time again it's being shown that that market alone can't make you a big success.
Adam Baker
Well, let's see how the actual end result is
Ryan Bailey
I'm not American. Nobody in Scotland is excited for this movie, I can tell you that.
Also, Underworld makes very little money so it doesn't belong with F&F and 300.
Jackson Mitchell
YASS QUEEN
Adrian Wilson
>WB is embargoing fucking reactions yeah this is gonna be great
Eli Martinez
> wonder woman is gonna ruin 92% of moviegoers
gonna be sweet
Hunter Russell
Its a prediction. I think Strange had the same byt it opened better than expected. Dont take it seriously.
Daniel Gomez
They never done this before. Hell no other movie studio has review embargoes. You are right.
Jayden Edwards
I am the 8%
Jackson Gomez
I've heard or review embargoes, but not reaction embargoes.
Julian Morris
I don't think people, especially in the """nerd""" demographic get upset about female leads because 2 of the biggest Sci-Fi movie series (Terminator and Alien) have female protagonists. I think it's a very small number that gets massively overblown for clicks.
Someone decided to release it against Pirates, Baywatch (The Rock is huge everywhere), Transformers and a few kids movies.
Matthew Thomas
He probably meant review as it would be his reaction. Everyone else is saying they liked it but cant give reviews or details yet.
Evan Young
>climb to $75M
last month they were tracking $82m opening weekend
They should be hoping for FIVE HUNDRED MILLION opening weekend
Benjamin Martinez
Whens the release date?
Kayden Butler
For a $100M budget movie with that competition? It won't get $75M either, that would be a MASSIVE success
Elijah Foster
The budget is easily over 150 million
Blake Cooper
Strange was tracking at 80million and made 83 million, and he had less competition.
Which means WW is now tracking to be lower total than magic Tony Stark.
Oh yeah! 92 percent are just CLAMORING for that movie!
Connor Moore
Man im conflicted about this shit, on kne hand i want it to flop because fuck synder and i want dc to start over with a new style and director but on the other hand i kinda like this wonderwoman
Jordan Cooper
I feel about the same. My disliking of Snyder is what's keeping me from going to it. If they made a proper WW movie, I'll definitely be there. JL/JLU got it right, can it really be so difficult to adapt that magic onto film?
Robert Cox
$120M is the actual budget
Joshua Ortiz
Patty Jenkins said it's on the upper end of superhero movies last week.
Google it, I'm not gonna spoon feed you.
Brayden Walker
People are just so damn negative online. It gets so old. No one even wants to be that guy that is actually positive and excited about anything. Its ridiculous. WW is 2hrs 55min. long. THREE HOURS. the trailers show maybe a total of 3 minutes from the movie. The cinematography, costumes, and settings all look fantastic. Most likely another Oscar nominee is headed WBs way. Im a little put off by the score so far. The movie looks so gorgeous and looks like a truly sweeping historical fantasy epic that I hope it has less hard metal and more classic cinema style music. Im worried the hard metal music will take away from the beauty of the film itself. Other than that WW looks like a great movie.
I am THAT guy not afraid to look forward to something i guess.
Nicholas Martin
>WW is 2hrs 55min. long. THREE HOURS Is that the DLC cut?
Jayden Cook
idk. I saw it listed somewhere.
Samuel Miller
you can be positive and excited that doesn't come out of this pile of shit
2hrs 21 min according to imdb. so i remembered wrong i guess. still a good long movie.
Robert Thomas
>Hey man, do you wanna see a female superhero movie? >8% of people said no
that's funny
Ryan Rivera
Is the predicted 75mil opening domestic or global?
Brody Barnes
Remind me, how many Best Picture, Director, Actor, Actress, Original or Adapted Screenplay or Photography has Disney won? Golden Globes or any other respectable award would do too.
Surely the best studio ever won't be so pathetic to pay money so they make a category just for them because they only shit out extended toy commercials right? That would be absurd haha
Aaron Edwards
Patty Jenkins said it's a lot of money. Charles Roven said it's on the low end for blockbusters.
Adam Rodriguez
Domestic
Nicholas Russell
I really doubt that this is an accurate number. In this day and age, who would say that they AREN'T interested in a stand-alone female superhero movie? I bet most of them just said yes because they didn't want to say "No" or "I don't really care".
David Murphy
>Don't expect me to back up my claim, shitlord.
Blake Morales
To be fair, anything would seem like a lot of money for Patty Jenkins. She's worked on 8 projects in total, and most of those have been TV episodes
Leo Cruz
Right people, don't get all emotional just engage your brain and consider the following:
88% said that Wonder Woman's big screen debut was the main reason to see Batman v. Superman.
Really? Do you honestly believe that?
Mason King
No. It was just 88% of the 1,000 people that were actually polled, and I have doubts about how true that is.
Sebastian Smith
I think this is something that can be categorized as "no fucking shit".
That being said, you still need to put effort in order to make it good.
These polls are designed to feed you the numbers you're looking for. They're not legitimate.
The question was probably something like this: What was your impression of Wonder Woman's action scenes in BvS? 1. Shit 2. Ok 3. Good 4. Very good 5. Great
Anything 3-5 counted as "Wonder Woman best part of BvS bravo women men BTFO".
Studio Jews would make more female lead movies if they would sell. But they don't. They wouldn't even fucking give ScarJo a BW movie.
James Nelson
Even Sup Forums would want to see a female superhero movie if that was the only detail you had about it in a void. The problem is all the baggage that brings with it these days.
Carson Perez
>what is burden of proof
Wyatt Miller
I don't know what the hell that guy means then because I've seen a ton of folks get early screenings and said they loved it. Mostly industry people though so take that with a grain of salt.
Gabriel Diaz
These articles are such clickbait horseshit. They take like a dozen retards getting mad and spin it like it's a fucking social movement and people are rioting in the streets.
Dylan Martinez
Did a quick check. People should dig a bit more in the twatter accounts. Most of them are just claiming they saw it and running around the bush, and others are like this: >Jenkins is a genius, Gal Golduck IS WW >Posts a picture of her/him with ww merchandise or hugging the director If the embargo lifts around june 1st I'd brace myself CW did early screenings as well and people were allowed to say what they liked or shit on it . It might just be wb being extra careful though, but stuff like making up accounts for king arthur doesn't help.
Lincoln Lee
Lets face it, Sup Forums only wants to see a female super hero movie if it stars a blonde white female blowing a BBC Steve Trevor, (played by a slender African Trap that can pass but is quite well hung) while Bruce Wayne sits in the corner watching and masturbating, (Bruce is the POV character). Thats what youve let porn do to your brains.
Nicholas Smith
I... don't think most of Sup Forums legitimately wants that. Even as a porn parody.
Zachary Bailey
>blonde white woman No, they want a huge thick musclegirl and try to claim that's what Wonder Woman is supposed to look like despite never reading a Wonder Woman comic in their entire life.
People who think Kingdom Come, Dark Knight Strikes Again, Infinite Crisis and Injustice aren't wildly out of character.
Matthew Campbell
>no source on the poll at all besides the number of people >and only 1000 people at that And into the trash it goes. I mean I'm down for a WW movie but that's extremely shoddy statistics and nothing worth "taking to the bank". Also, post an archive link next time so I won't have to give your shitty website any clicks.
Landon Richardson
100% of fans want a GOOD female superhero movie
Daniel Fisher
It's always funny to hear the "you just hate badass female leads" bullshit, when you're a fan of horror movies, which includes slashers, i.e. a subgenre where a "female lead stops the deadly killer" is a cliche/staple of its own.
Jonathan Long
Sup Forums is like 40% fujoshis, they hate cuck and BBC. And 80% of the sum total of Sup Forums is white supremacist. So, no.
Jeremiah Phillips
It's going to underperform and everyone is going to be shocked/appalled.
Robert Collins
Snyder didn't direct this , genius.
Isaac Bell
Anyone can click not many would pay for something that looks like shit. They'll most likely wait for the Marvel one starring a girl.
Isaiah Price
That's a shoop, right? Please let that be a shoop.
Gavin Smith
>People are just so damn negative online. It gets so old. No one even wants to be that guy that is actually positive and excited about anything. Its ridiculous. I remember people being pretty excited for Guardians of the Galaxy 2.
Asher Jones
I just want my WW with tits instead of Jack in a tiara.
Cooper Ross
I don't see why they're bothering. Every single thing about this guys appearance and fact that he calls his wife/girlfriend/cuck mistress his "wonder woman" should tell you he would do nothing but lavish praise onto any movie with a female lead.
Jacob Brooks
Marvels style of arrogant male human wont work for Captain Marvel. It will just make her really unlikable
Henry Morgan
Marvel can put a literal turd for 2 hours and it'll make 600m bucks. In fact they already did it's called Avengers 2.
Angel Gonzalez
Then that's a decent opening
Xavier Cooper
Oh it will make money but everyone will hate Carol. And rightly so
Henry Hill
>lots and lots of hatefuck and torture porn I'm down with that.
Hunter Rivera
I wish it were 3 hours. But also, if they keep predicting low box office then when it DOES come out, it will "exceed all expectations." They should report it at 40 mil and then when it makes 100 mil opening weekend it will look great. I know I'm not getting polled here, but I'm definitely going to see it.
Sebastian Harris
Good thing Wonder Woman is coming out then.
Bentley Gomez
Character can't hold a solo series or a team book with more popular characters.
Elijah Foster
Good thing comic books sales mean nothing when it comes to box office.
Owen Collins
Did they specify if they wanted a GOOD female superhero movie?
Luke Ross
That Charlize Theron movie looks alright.
Michael Nguyen
after the stuff that happen to James with the new ghostbusters i can see that
Angel Russell
lol nobody gives a fuck about this dumb bitch
Adrian Thomas
there's an user in the boxofficetheory forums, that is verified by the mods/admins, that's in the industry and gets to see films early. he said WW is awful, he also said its the best of the DCU, he thinks it will end up with a 60% on RT, and thinks it will outperform.
It just means expect RDJ to be in Cap Marvel movie.
Jonathan Adams
So how big will the meltdown be if this movie ends up successful? People still haven't recovered from Suicide Squad
Jonathan Martin
James is fine and ended up being proven right not to get involved.
Jacob Lewis
>virtue signaling in poll form
Liam Ortiz
that was a prediction, not tracking
Jonathan Thompson
>when you just discovered Sup Forums's buzzword of 3 months ago and have to spam it as much as possible to play catchup
Elijah Evans
Pretty sure it's the first time I used that word, because Jesus Christ is it appropriate here.
The fuck is the point of making polls like this? It's like asking >would you like an Asian lead superhero movie or are you a racist?
Hell there's no reason to answer no. Sure I'd like a female lead superhero movie, why the fuck not, how could it affect me negatively in any shape or form. Doesn't mean I'll go out of my way to see it, especially if it looks like it'll be shit.
Josiah King
And I can assure you that a big chunk of that 92% is like Sup Forums, they just want to see a female superhero so they can jerk off to it.
Jose Kelly
>Interested in seeing a female superhero
So? That's so vague it's devoid of meaning. I'm interested in seeing an action movie. That doesn't mean I'm going to walk into the first one I see.
Ryder Ramirez
I'm hyped to see a female superhero, if that superhero is Cass Cain. I'm not going to fucking watch a WW movie even if you give me a free ticket.
Jaxon Butler
The truth is they don't. Both WW and CM will fail. It won't hurt Marvel because of their marketing department. It will be the middle of the end for DC.
Any other conclusion is delusion.
Adrian Thompson
It is. The real one has the subtitle "Yaas Queen!" on it.
Grayson Torres
>he said WW is awful, he also said its the best of the DCU BvS is the best movie of all time so how can WW both simultaneously be awful and better?
Adrian Garcia
>Suicide Squad wins 1 academy award >WW wins 2 >JL wins 3 How triggered?
Aiden King
>implying these movies have a shot at any award other than makeup or effects The upper limit of a capeshit film is 2 Oscars. Heath Ledger only got his because he died, and it was their last chance to give him one.
