Aside from the fact all the time these episodes have taken up telling their stories are, in all likelihood, going to result in a super rushed ending, they've honestly all been pretty good.

Episodes 1-3: 8/10
Episode 4-9: 4/10

I thought all of them were great, with 2, 3, 7, and 8 as standouts.

I'm really assblasted about episode 9 though. I can't even articulate why.

In case anyone thinks this is shitposting, I'm just updating my ratings from E1 7/10
E2 6/10
E3 5/10
E4 2/10
E5 4/10
E6 1/10
E7 3/10
E8 0/10
E9 ?/10
(I can't rate the first half of a two-parter by itself.)

Nah man, don't be like that.

Some of them were worse than 4/10

>Ep. 1 - 9/10
Did a fantastic job at catching the viewer up to speed on the past 50 years of Jack's life. Great imagery, direction, editing, and an awesome fight scene.
>Ep. 2 - 9.5/10
Aku scene was pretty good, but some of the comedy falling a bit flat was the only negative of the episode. Everything after that with Jack being ambushed by the sisters all the way to the end was tremendous; one of the top episodes of the series.
>Ep. 3 - 9/10
Action scenes weren't quite as awesome in this one, but the imagery and flashbacks made up for it. Slightly beats out the season premiere.
>Ep. 4 - 6.5/10
Opening scene is honestly underrated. Ending scene seems a bit sudden, but I get what they went for. The middle 80% of this is just scenery porn.
>Ep. 5 - 7.5/10
Scotsman's scene saves this episode. Everything great about the character concentrated into one scene, plus a better look at where Aku is at mentally. The rest was standard but not bad. Ending felt rushed.
>Ep. 6 - 7/10
I don't mind Ashi as a character, and I really enjoyed a lot of the cameros and references; some of the better comedy of the season. The final scene felt like it could've used another minute, again, but I also still got what they were doing and enjoyed it.
>Ep. 7 - 8/10
Barring the most rushed ending of any episode this season, this was a big step up from the previous 3 episodes. Juxtaposition of Jack's calm journey into his mind with Ashi's violent war with the orcs, then Jack vs Inner Jack and Ashi vs her Mother were good.
>Ep. 8 - 8.5/10
Good action, good setpieces, the build to the kiss was honestly very good, and the ending was so blatant I loved it.
>Ep. 9 - 8.5/10
The first scenes felt like they dragged for how much time they had left, but from Scaramouche's scene on it was really good stuff. Big fan of Ashi's Aku form and that fight in general. Final shot was 11/10.

Still think ~12 episodes would've been ideal, but it's trending to end well despite a rushed middle.

This sounds like something I could agree with. It's well explained.

One of the better analysis of the season. I personally would have liked another 4 episodes to pad out some of the rushed details. I hope the finale is an extended episode, though I doubt it will be since the promo didn't explicitly state it would be.

>1
8/10. Solid start, great balance of familiar concepts with new material. Perfect way to start the season.
>2
9/10. Excellent escalation of drama with some of the best sequences in the show's history.
>3
Honest 10/10, the perfect climax to the conflict of the previous episodes.
>4
7/10. A necessary breather episode and overall the episode that feels the closest to the older seasons. Not ranked higher because of overuse of dialogue which breaks opportunities for scenery porn.
>5
5/10. Probably the weakest episode of the season even though it's not intended to be. Scotsman scene is god-tier but it's an episode that is neither particularly well-written nor is it visually interesting or even that fun. Pacing is fucked too.
>6
7/10. It's a clip show but it's a pretty necessary episode and one that makes great use of the setting. Not much happens, and the conclusion to the Omen renders him almost superfluous, but it's a good episode that does well to establish the roles of Ashi and Jack and pay tribute to the legacy of the series.
>7
8/10. Fantastic visuals, good development of Jack and a solid way to make him get his sword back with what's been established in the past episodes. Probably could used it's runtime better and ditched the army fight scene, but it was necessary to establish Ashi's strength.
>8
6/10. Pretty lackluster on most aspects but still good, action is serviceable but the comedy works. Mostly an excuse for Jack and Ashi to finally get together. It works as the final breather episode before shit hits the fan.
>9
9/10. A great way to remind viewers of how much of a monster Aku is and escalate tension, with that balance of comedy and drama that makes Samurai Jack special.

Now I'm anxious to see where the finale takes us and I'm trying to not have expectations.
When I watch Samurai Jack I've grown used to just not have any expectations and just let the show take me in it's stride, and for the most part it's worked.
I'm happy with it.

I honestly rank the second and third episodes as among the best media I've seen in the last few years.

The tomb scene in episode 2 alone was one of the single greatest scenes in cartoon history imo.

Episode 1: 8/10
Episode 2: 10/10
Episode 3: 10/10
Episode 4: 8/10
Episode 5: 6/10
Episode 6: 7/10
Episode 7: 8/10
Episode 8: 6/10 (Would've been lower if the outrage didn't make me giggle, and the hamfisted delivery)
Episode 9: 10/10

>I honestly rank the second and third episodes as among the best media I've seen in the last few years.
Yup, this. What fucking went wrong, seriously?

Hey it's this meme again

This
Personally Episode 2 is a 10/10 but I agree with every other point on here

Nothing went wrong per se, but the first three episodes honestly feel like they took a complete change in tone, save the obvious "Yeah I'm gonna kill myself now" episode.

I kinda feel that maybe after writing/storyboarding the start of the season, maybe Gennedy got slight cold feet in regards to the darker approach.

*but after the first three episodes

Ep1 6/10 Ok but don't understand the hype, was nothing special.

Ep2 10/10 balls to the wall action and awesome visuals

Ep3 7/10 good but slow to pick up and a little self indulgent

Ep4 9/10 great fight pretty shit ending

Ep5 8/10 missed potential

Ep6-8 5/10 all shit with many pointless and childish detours

Ep9 8/10 good but not good enough for a secodn to last episode

Ep10 6/10 probably a happy ending that ultimate betrays the themes of the show but has some spectacular animated fights.

2>3=1>7>4>6>9>5>8

The only correct order

The reason why I'm not ranking Episode 2 a 10/10 is because of that Aku scene. It's not a bad scene, I enjoy it. I just dislike how he's drawn in it, I don't like how it's disconnected from everything else in the episode and I'm not a fan of Greg's performance in it. This is the only thing that stops it from being a 10/10 for me even though it's one hell of an episode. I take my ratings very seriously.

And speaking of Greg, I honestly thought he redeemed himself with the last episode and judging by how I didn't see anyone complain about him I think others feel the same.
He will never come close to Mako but he did better than I expected.
>SSSSSSAAAAAAMURAAAAAAAI JAAAAAAAAAAACK....

>4 & 6 above 9
>8 being the worst
So close.

2 > 3=1 > 9 > 7 >= 8 >= 6 > 4 >= 5

The only one that comes close to bad is 5, but the first third of the episode saves it pretty hard.

Episodes 7 & 9 have totally validated Greg's version of the character. I'm not judging as much on him in 2 & 5 because the point is that Aku's out of it and not himself. 7 is a flashback and 9 is him motivated again, so you get to hear him without that need to add that layer to the character, and he's definitely doing a great job.

At this point, the only way in which it's bad is in comparison to Mako, and that's not fair at all.

being the worst
It's pointless cringey fanfic tier shit

Not a meme, just a common opinion.
