So which one got ruined and it's potential squandered by their creator more?

So which one got ruined and it's potential squandered by their creator more?

Alex "Self Sabotage" Hirsch, who not only forced Gravity Falls to conclude too early and compacting two + seasons worth of plot into one really rushed season, but actively came up with the worst fucking conclusion possible and hated when his staffers made Pacifica anything but a huge bitch

Or

Rebecca "Fuck work, let my staffers do everything" Sugar, who let her staff (including a tumblr fan artist/shipper) take over for the show and ram it into the ground in every single category you can evaluate it on - Character Design, Character writing, Consistency, Background Art, Plot development, etc

It's kind of funny how Alex's issue was that he got too involved, meanwhile, Sugar's issue seems to be that she doesn't get involved enough.

And then Star Vs..

>worst fucking conclusion possible

How so?

Gravity Falls was actually a good show at one point

>but actively came up with the worst fucking conclusion possible
What? Weirdmageddon is perfectly fine as a conclusion, it's just that everything else brought it down.
Besides, even if it was bad, it would by no means be the worst one possible.

user admit it
We all got baited by the " thpusand years lesbian alien war lore"

The one who forces poltical agendas into their creation to get brownie points from their peers...

...oh wait.

So what's worse as far as virtue signalling goes? "Tourist Trapped" or "Rocknaldo"?

As bad as Gravity Falls got toward the final stretch of its run, it's still an outright insult to compare it to that pile of shit known as Steven Universe.

Between this and the Star vs SU thread up, I'm getting the feeling its an SU fan making these threads attempting to grossly over value how that sloppily animated mess compares to cartoons with actual budgets.

What the fuck does Sugar even do on the show? She doesn't animate, she doesn't write the script, she doesn't draw the backgrounds, she doesn't voice a character.

What does she do?

No fucking shit it's SU fans, there's a reason the mods keep banning their general because the fags keep leaving their containment thread

That and the massive amounts of porn

>Gravity Falls threads were nothing but footfags, incestfags and pedos during its run
>But /sug/ is cancer for run of the mill waifu shitposting

Y'all regularly post and jack off to pregnant gem pictures

>Gravity Falls and Loud House are nothing but pedofa-

What good producers always do. Vacation all the time and then take all the credit when it's finished.

But /sug/ has foot-fetish posting all the time from what I've seen. Specifically people talking about Pearl's feet.

It's hard to tell because SU is still going, and Steven is finally going to homeworld. Now, what happens at homeworld will very much determine the fate of this show. If they squander it as always, then SU.

Rebecca, by miles.
Remember, she started with a professional team of boarders.

>Muh blonde rich bitch waifu

She storyboards some segments on some episodes, which would be cool, if everyone else on her team wouldn't be fucking mediocre people picked up from Internet, the episodes start with shitty models, then BOOM, the quality rises amazingly for a scene and plop, it goes shitty again.

I think sugar is not made for directing, she got talent, this can't be denied, but man, giving her too much responsibility was a mistake.

>These are the types of people Alex dates

And remember his "fuck white protagonists" tweet about video games?

I'd fuck Alex_ so hard.

Kind of hard to believe that Hirsch is friends with h3h3, considering they make a living tearing down the kind of easily offended snowflakes he's fond of.

Hirsch was his own worst enemy during that election cycle.

Season 1 Gravity Falls rivaled Golden Age Simpsons in terms of humor. The adventure and mystery was just a bonus. Even without having to compare the show to anything else, GF was still on top.

Steven Universe has yet to have anything of top tier quality. The only way for the show to be considered good is for you to say, "Well, it's the best thing on CN right now". Even what the fans consider the best episode to be, Jailbreak, has an awkward, poorly animated dance-fight at the end that everyone laughs at.

GF wins by a mile, even if it fell hard, it had an amazing start. SU has just been lackluster the entire way.

>Trump is awful
>That's not an argument
>(Blocks you on Twitter, spews shit from every orifice of one's face)

Please tell me this is fake, just like CNN.

Gravity falls ended very well, SU is 90%

No. It's real.

Alex during election day was funnier and more entertaining than anything he wrote in Season 2B.

>Weirdmageddon is perfectly fine as a conclusion

>Successful, white male college-grad artist living in California lecturing people about the consequences of a Trump presidency

All I can think of is:
youtube.com/watch?v=otZL-EfgrG4

The number of funny, entertaining people I no longer follow due to them losing their fucking minds after the election could be counted on more then two hands.

I'm as liberal as they come. Fuck, I probably agree with 90% of what they post. But I can't spend every waking fucking second of my life reading about him, and it seems like so many entertaining people have made it there life's goal to do nothing but spam Trump memes for eternity as some sort of insane penance for him being elected.

There seem to be a group of people who genuinely think that we should devote our lives to fighting Trump every second of the day. It's insufferable.

>I hate his opinion and his life! How can I make it look bad?
>I know! I'll mention his race!
>And his gender!
>And his life status!
>And the fact that he has an opinion!
That's an interesting position you have.

>I hate his opinion and his life! How can I make it look bad?
>I know! I'll mention his race!
>And his gender!
This is the same guy who's constantly bitching about white males on Twitter.

>I wanna shit talk this guy, but I'm underage and didn't keep up with the election because it was boring. What can I do...
>I know! I'll just greentext a bunch! That'll make me look like a real 4channer!

Liberals believe that Trump will do nothing but harm any minorities, refugees, poor people, women, and the uneducated. That basically the only people he WILL benefit during his run is rich, white, educated men.

So for that exact type of person to bitch about Trump on the behalf of blacks, women, Mexicans, or whatever and try to lecture about the importance of not voting for this guy is extremely condescending. He can't in any way empathize or sympathize with these groups of people who might have these fears. He's extremely privileged, extremely successful, was able to afford going to the most expensive and elite art schools in the country, he lives in an extremely liberal major city that has been known to push against republican government even before Trump. He doesn't have to fear government taking away abortion privileges, being deported, discrimination, profiling, health care for the low income, finding physical labor work with only a high school diploma, really anything outside of paying bills, loans, rent, etc.

Yet, despite all this, he still goes, "FUCK white men! C'mon my brothers, let's rally against Trump together! Don't you see he's bad for US??". It's goddamn retarded.

I cringe every time when someone starts a sentence with "Liberals".
Makes me read it in an Alex Jones voice.

also calm down, nigger. We're not in Sup Forums. Its a thread about kids' cartoons

Hello Alexander.

>Makes me read it in an Alex Jones voice.
That is not your default reading voice? For shame!

Who's a worse star child, Steven or Mabel?

>Cringing because someone stated the name of a party
What? That's like cringing because someone said "Washington" or "White House". It's not even a valid insult.

>Its a thread about kids' cartoons
This triggers me more than Sup Forums discussion.

Don't you mean "Roadside attraction?" Tourist Trapped was the first episode, kind of mediocre and really only memorable for being the first episode, but pretty much harmless

>causes Weirdmageddon through her own selfish actions
>lives in a paradise while everyone she fucked over is on the streets, eating rats and getting turned into statues
>replaces her own brother with a 90's Burger King mascot who just jerks her off
>never tells Dipper that it's her fault
>never faces any consequences
Steven's an annoying little shit, but he at least tries to take responsibility when he makes everyone's life worse.

>GF
>great setting n atmosphere
>consistent mystery n drama
>anticlimactic as all literal hell

>SU
>colorfully diverse
>lore out the ass
>currently a ship without sails

GF feels a lot like Hirsch' product but SU feels like AT right now but still trying to force a steady narrative, and it ain't going smoothly.
I'm going with Sucrose

The recent arc in SU kinda highlighted the difference between the two. Steven feels incredibly guilty over something that wasn't really his fault and makes this whole big sacrifice play over it

I'm glad Star vs. doesn't do this

I don't think that's a fair comparison. Mabel is a normal little girl. Steven is a metaphor for Jesus.

>Mabel is a normal little girl.

Are normal little girls all threats to the entire universe?

Give it time...

Would Star go full Steven, or full Mabel?

All women do. Mabel just grew up too early :)

Worst they've done was say Janna's a feminist.
Even then I think they played it more for laughs than straight and it's never come up again.

>"Janna fights... THE PATRIARCHY!"
>everyone gasps at her

Mabel, pretty unambiguously.

>When you can't bring yourself to criticize your sister and try to write her as flawless, but she ends up being a despicable human being

Grab at these Balls

Why would a show about fags ever have been an appealing quality?
The cookie cat song was and is the only good part of the entire SU series.

bait

Steven Universe fell apart while Gravity Falls might have ended too soon, it ended well and it was satisfying enough for me. I find it hard to keep watching Steven Universe.

Rocknaldo is by far worse, all around. At least the spiderlady was entertaining.

>if everyone else on her team wouldn't be fucking mediocre people picked up from Internet
that only applies to Zuke and Amber (and even then both were initially hired as storyboard revisionists)

Rebecca obviously knew Ian
Kat was a writer/boarder on Regular Show (and like Rebecca and Ian had gone to SVA)
Ian knew both Danny Hynes and Nick DeMayo from Venture Bros (Danny was also involved in the Lakewood Plaza Turbo pilot)
Joe had worked on Fish Hooks (most of the fish hooks crew that went to CN worked on Clarence)
Jeff, Colin, and Katie were new (though Colin did work on the Clarence Pilot and Katie boarded an early clarence episode) but they were also recent CalArts grads (and Katie spent some time doing odd jobs like additional background paint and storyboard revisions)
Paul had worked on Superjail and was in the same class as Rebecca at SVA
Rebecca probably knew Raven from online, but Raven had worked on Ed Edd n Eddy, MLP, and Pound Puppies
Aleth had worked on Adventure Time and was in the same class at SVA as Kat
Hilary was a writer/boarder on Regular Show (and also went to SVA)
Hellen was also a writer/boarder (though mainly a storyboard revisionist) on Regular Show and was also involved in the pilot

oh and Ian personally knew Lamar (who also was involved in the Lakewood Plaza Turbo pilot)

This entire thread is bait.

>leaving out Lamar, the single biggest purveyor of autism on the show

see

I'm almost tempted to say Gravity Falls by default because Steven Universe never had any potential to begin with, but that's not true

It just lost it all in the first few episodes so quickly it's hard to remember there was any there to start

But yeah, the SU premise was handled in the absolute worst possible fucking way imaginable, proving once again that tumblr ruins everything it touches

so SU for the fantastic feat of making Steven the worst part of his own show

This right here. Everyone admits that the last season was shit, even the fanbase, but it looks like things might actually be changing. If the next set of episodes actually shakes up the status quo and gets the show back on track, it could still be salvageable. If not, then SU is pretty much confirmed to be beyond saving.

Nigga that episode was just some typical "be yourself" type message, it had nothing to do with whatever agendas you think you see everywhere.

Every time Mabel attempted to do the same thing it ended poorly for her, too. The difference between Dipper and Mabel wasn't that one 'got away' with more shit, it was that ultimately Dipper was the main character and the shoe was about him growing up, so he developed and moved on.

Isn't Rocknaldo the episode that tumblr had a fit over because it was like ten minutes of the crew insulting them?

SU just has filler to pad the steven bombs
I still don't get why GF had filler and had to end early.

>Isn't Rocknaldo the episode that tumblr had a fit over because it was like ten minutes of the crew insulting them?
No, it was that episode that had potential to be really funny but just ended up being 3 minutes of Ronaldo being annoying and 8 minutes of Steven lecturing.

Could've had a funny little adventure where Ronaldo jumps on the warp pad last minute and forces himself to join Steven and the Gems on a mission. Could've seen him bumbling while fighting monsters and being a total embarrassment in front of the Gems. Probably something happens that gets him and Steven separated from the Gems and now Steven has to play babysitter to an adult, maybe make a comment of, "Wow, was this what I was like during my first missions?".

Instead, just an unfunny episode that simultaneously shits on Tumblr fanbase while still being preachy.

Alex deliberately screwed with GF to get back at Disney, Rebecca is super incompetent as a leader.

Like it or not, SU has been consistent. It has its ups and downs but it has been consistent for me.

Gravity Falls felt really off in 2B, especially with that conclusion. It had great potential with its twist and hidden lore and all that, but then it got really dumb in the end.

Gravity Falls used it's """"""""lore""""""""" and """""""""overarching plot""""""""" as a means of creating hype. It was Hirsch and Disney's way of separating the show from the rest of XD's line up. The "lore" was never ever planned to be anything more than a publicity stunt to get people invested in the world. That's why wrapping it all up was not only left until the last minute, but it was done poorly - there was nothing to wrap up. When I remember what I love about the show, it wasn't the hidden message bullshit, it was the funny writing and comfy atmosphere.

The ending was shit because it tried to conclude something that couldn't be concluded.

Steven Universe has the exact opposite problem. The lore is genuinely interesting, but it starves the viewer by constantly starting things you know it won't finish. It promises all these secrets to unfold, and while Gravity Falls didn't actually have any secrets, Steven Universe treats everything teased at you as something genuinely important to the story, then casts it aside. The cast and world (outside of the Crystal Gems themselves) just AREN'T INTERESTING ENOUGH to keep the show afloat while the audience waits for all their questions to be answered.

Wheres SU's ups? I dont see any since a long time.

Pretty much.

Gravity falls had more potential though.
