Fusions do kind of weird me out on a conceptual level. Fusions ARE people, yes? Like, sapient beings distinct from their components? So doesn't that mean un-fusing kills them? I guess you could argue that they still "exist" within their components, and when they fuse again their consciousness just starts up again right where it left off with the components' added memories since the last time.
But weirdly, fusing DOESN'T seem to result in ego death for the components, since we've seen Ruby and Sapphire argue while fused. Are there three consciousnesses in a fusion?
