Is this movie anything like Shadow Run? Obviously not cyberpunk but the urban fantasy character part.

Bright was all flash and no substance. The setting was neat but the writing was garbo. They tried to make some sort of statement about race relations, but I don't think even they knew what that statement was supposed to be. It's like they thought it was enough to just have fantasy races represent real life races, and show that some races get treated differently than others. Wooowwwww so deeeeeeep.

It was a buddy cop movie, nothing more, nothing less. It wasn't intended as a cinematic masterpiece, only some fun and distracting entertainment. Just by this standard, it was a success.

Decent flick, EXCELLENT B-movie.
Both cops were very sympathetic and engaging in their own ways, and I really liked the characterisation touches like the paraplegic gang leader who wanted the wand so he could walk again, fuck women, shit normally instead of into a colostomy bag etc.
Overall magic really did come across as something special treated with awe and not just zapping each other like in Harry Potter.

My only complaint about the movie is the Elves came across more like vampires.

It would have been too easy and annoying preachy if it was an obvious racial allegory so instead it's a mixed bag of racial allegories

Orcs are blacks because everyone hates them as a stereotype of brutish, violent apes, but orcs are also whites because everyone hates them for shit their great-great-great-great grandfathers did that they had no influence on and in fact are horrified by.

Besides, if there was a more clear-cut and obvious racial allegory then critics wouldn't have savaged the movie the way they did. Holy fuck go look up the news headlines for this movie right now, every one mentions "A lot of people watched it but it's shit," you'd think Mel Gibson directed it.
