Arkangel

>only episode directed by woman
>shittiest in the whole series
Really made me think

That's not Crocodile

it was the second best episode of the season next to hang the DJ

that's not metalhead and it was the best of this season.

>shittiest
It was one of the only decent ones this season. Would have been better without the comedy fight scene at the end though.

Black Museum was the shittiest

The mom unironically did nothing wrong

That was the worst Black Mirror episode so far
Made Waldo look like citizen kane

Hang the DJ > Black Museum > Arkangel > Crocodile > Metalhead > USS Callister

Which made the whole episode pointless. There's no moral dilemma or question.
Just a whore getting righteous punishment and sperging out

she did everything wrong
if you don't trust your kids they will just rebel against you

It felt like some rip-off SyFy-tier take on Black Mirror. Couldn't get past the incredibly hammy acting.

>Series created by a White Male (AKA Soyboy cuckold)
>Interracial relationships galore
Really made me think

Crocodile was worst.

But she got proved right, nigga.
The girl outright lied from the start and never attempted to be honest

The plot of the prisoner being tortured was literally just White Bear but shittier since they made a point of saying he was innocent anyway.

Are you retarded OP?

Did you even finish this season?

So she should have let her daughter become a cokewhore?

Eh. The decisions she made were not necessarily wrong, but they were not her decisions to make. Her behaviour was incredibly transgressive.

she was the one who shielded her child from everything horrible in the world since she was a baby. how could you blame the girl for being curious about everything she was unaware of for so long in her life? she never understood the consequences.

Everything would've been avoided if the mother told her kid the truth right away. But instead she went full gestapo. On her own kid.

You are the sperg here mate. Her kid fucking ran away at the age of 15. That's not doing things right, especially when she did the coke earlier so you can't know what she'll do.

Hang The DJ > USS Callister >Arkangel, Crocodile, Black Museum >>>>>>>>>>Metalhead

>JUST TURN OFF YOUR BRAIN BRO AND FLY INTO THE UPDATE BLACK HOLE LMAO

She did trust her daughter, and her daughter went out and fucked a pedophile in a park for coke.

it was at the least somewhat entertaining, and not absolutely riddled with plot holes (due to lack of exposition or not) like crocodile and USS callister, why did most of you hate it ?

it honestly pissed me off with it ending this season, the rest of the episodes entertained me enough to keep me marathoning it til 4 in the morning. But that episode felt so fucking off from start to finish.

>The episode shows the end result of post-modern women (in this case a single mother) and how disastrously dystopian life becomes for those under their influence.
>The traditional white male's warnings are ignored, only to be shown true as the episode progresses
>the message of the episode is that freedom has costs but is much more preferable
>the message is also that single mothers are shit at parenting, and their children become degenerate druggies
This was the best episode of the series, fuck off

Ignore the third act/finale and it's really good. Include the third act/finale and it's breddy good. Which makes it better than those ranked under it.

no

Because it was a painfully boring waste of fucking time?

>Dumb cunt runs away from dog
>Dumb cunt gets killed by dog
>Teddy bear

It was absolutely pointless filler. There's no tension - someone whose only feature is colossal stupidity is under threat. So what. Hope she dies. Don't care if she dies.

Then she dies. Oh well.

*copies your dna*
HA! Now I have all of your memories

I fucking loved it. I didn't need some big history lesson or backstory about what the fuck happened. I liked that it just dumped us into this nightmare scenario.

Because it's just a generic action flick with LITERALLY no plot.

the second she implanted the system in her brain she fucked up
guess what, shielding a kid from stress entirely will fuck her up, her lack of """"traumatic"""" experiences as a kid (like having a dog bark at you) made her develope a thirst for the forbidden

Just gotta roll with it. It's a bit of a stretch, but it still works as a goofy metaphor.

>Nightmare scenario

>Thieves try to steal some shit
>Get killed by guard dog

Maybe don't steal shit.

made you think you're an idiot? probably doesn't take much.

the reason this season seems lackluster is because Charlie Brooker's writing. he has a limited toolbox and it's starting to show. in Black Mirror there's always an outlier episode, a relationship one, a hyperviolent one, and a tech used for evil, villainous purposes. he needs to let other more capable writers lend a hand before BM gets stale.

Everything would be avoided if the kid just told she was going to a beach party and had not lied, mate
And I agree with you in the next point. There lacked an actual punishment. Her mom was protecting her and she went full psycho

>Arkangel is not the best episode of the 4th season

t. brainlet

Also, the mom did nothing wrong

>all these plebs hating on metalhead

how would you have stopped it Sup Forums ?

>tries coke once
>"She's going to be a coke whore!"

Look at this guy, clutching his pearls.

Congratulations, you were right, but your kid still ran away from you. Whoopee. Great success as a parent. At least you were right.

it doesn't fit the tone of the series, there's no moral dilemma, no food for thought after the episode ends
it's just evil technology vs good humans, which is not what Black Mirror is about at all
also the teddy bear twist was embarassingly cheesy

Thought the bit with the paint was brilliant, but she got fucked over by that tracker scatter bomb.

She knew she was done for, especially when it showed that other dogs were closing into the location.

The plot and the action were talented-amateur-on-youtube-tier.

Also: The "intimidating monster" (which is clearly supposed to be the main attraction of the episode) is badly damaged within the first few minutes and not really that intimidating, the costume design was god-awful, due to the lack of backstory or context there is no real social commentary (which many viewers expect in a BM episode), the dialogue was as subtle, dramatic and well written as a shovel to the face and the action was generic as fuck.

>dates a coke dealer
>I won't get addicted, i'll just try it once and never do it again even though there's a huge supply right in front of me

I enjoyed the episode but the premise is retarded

>Who molested you Sara?
>idk his face was blurred and mom wasn't watching the iPad lol

>Sara, why didn't you move when you saw that aggressive dog coming towards you?
>What's a dog? You mean that blurry thing?

I'd understand the mom using the GPS and maybe even the camera, but the filter is the dumbest fucking shit ever

Good luck with your druggie whore kid, m8

>Just gotta roll with it
YEA MAN TURN YOUR BRAIN OFF AND IT'S GREAT, COMPELLING SCI-FI

by living in a countrey that let me own guns

The system of was turned off during pretty much her entire adolescence anyway, she had already seen the world like an average person

>t.perma-virgin incel

>censor your child from the necessary stressing parts of life
>instead of confronting her and explain the things all kids of our age were explained she decides to just uncensor everything and go on with life.
>daughter becomes degenerate because no sex or drug talk, curious for the things she wasn't able to see, etc.
>gets rekt and lost the thing she wanted to protect the most in her life because of poor parenting.

why didn't she just smash it to bits with a rock once she got down from the tree while it was recharging or whatever the fuck it was doing ?

I think it was a piss take considering the first 2 plots were literally Karl Pilkington ideas.

The Mom is an insane bitch but all Sara had to do was answer her fucking phone, or text her mum that she was at the cinema or some shit the night of the beach party

to whoever think the mom did nothing wrong, I hope you never have kids

this, it really creeps me out that there are people out there that believe what she did was okay

She literally had no support
I guess it just proves the point that single mothers can't raise kids

every episode is incredibly formulaic and on-the-nose with its "food for thought" and the intention behind whatever message the episode presents. most episodes rely on a twist halfway through where something goes horribly wrong. I appreciate episodes that break up the monotony and simply present a scenario without needing to transition from "here's where we are" to "here's where shit goes wrong when the technology enters the picture".

If you knew you could find out if your kids are lying to you and know exactly what they're doing and who they're with you wouldn't do it? You'd just let her go out doing drugs with sketchy guys and getting knocked up?

This.

>you wouldn't do it?
no because some of us aren't control freaks that don't believe in free will in self responsibility.

your personality developes way earlier than your teen years
the kid had her natural huge curiosity but no sense of right and wrong, no fear of the unknown, all because the mom got scared once and decided to have a computer do her job as a parent

t. Snapchat generation

second best episode was metalhead you idiot. even though there's no "second best episode" since there's only 1 good episode

>teaching your child life lessons is bad
>building up trust is bad
>helping ease your child into maturity by slowly exposing them to real life is bad
>teaching them that actions have consequences and to be responsible is bad
>BUT TURNING UR CHILD INTO A PERMANENT 1984 MIND SLAVE AND KILLING YOUR GRANDCHILD IS GOOD!!1
this is you

It's not that it was right or wrong, it's just that it's the type of thing most mothers would do. Moms are over-protective, especially single mothers. This would be the equivalent of checking your daughters phone's texts to find out where she's been sneaking off to. It's wrong but doesn't make the mom a horrible person that deserves to be beaten almost to death.

Hang the DJ >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> doesn't matter the order

She started seeing plenty of bad things in the world early, though

there is a ton of ambiguity in every single BM epsiode except Metalhead

Yeah this, only good episode of the season
Would have prefered it to just end with them deciding to fuck the system and run away together, instead of yet ANOTHER 'dude simulations lmao' twist. But it didn't detract that hard

>let's just force this one kid at school who loves gore and porn and then becomes a coke dealer and love interest into the story to show how this technology ruined a little girl

>It's wrong but doesn't make the mom a horrible person that deserves to be beaten almost to death.
she killed her grandchild, she deserves at minimum death. Just cause bad mothering is common doesn't make this woman in BM any less of a cunt. they're all bad people, even if it's unhealthy projection of an initial positive thought.

>ywn make George Blagden let out a satisfying AAAAH after going down on you

hot damn, didn't realize Applestand was so fucking ripped

>Blaming the director for a bad TV ep
user, tv aint like movies. The director (male or female) is a bitch in tv. They get a script dumped on them, a limited time window, and a limited budget. 4/5 times a bad episode will be the fault of the writer.

Arkangel was okay, other than being a rehash of The Entire History Of You.

Metalhead was best of the season. The only one that wasn't a rehash of previous episodes, and the most plausible zombie apocalypse ever depicted.

you realise that their memories came from daly himself when he jacked in right?

What?

yeah, with an older kid she liked behind her telling her how cool it was
my point is that kids need traumatic/stressful experiences and need their parent to explain them why what they saw is bad
it's pretty much the basis of good upbringing

You spelt San Junipero wrong

like.... its his game right? so surely it would be updated with his perspective of the actions his colleagues committed during his time outside the game. which maybe is why he's so overly vindictive

lmaoing @ the armchair parents in this thread
>just raise ur kid better
>kids are simple and easy

Arkangel was one of the best of this season.
Metalhead was #1
and Black Musem is rounding out the top 3
the rest are pleb tier

Did you genuinely fail to understand that this is a post-apocalyptic setting, and the dogs were killing off everyone?

>it's just evil technology vs good humans
Someone built the dogs and set them loose.

>The "intimidating monster" (which is clearly supposed to be the main attraction of the episode) is badly damaged within the first few minutes and not really that intimidating
You're supposed to catch on that there are many of these things in the world and that they now outnumber the few remaining humans. It's not that they're invincible, it's that they're reasonably capable, numerous, and have only one purpose: to kill humans. They pursue the task with singleminded focus and infinite patience.

The humans die because they're making emotional decisions, because they're being human.

put a blanket over it when it was recharging desu

it wasn't just a guard dog

thousands of them were unleashed in the country to kill everyone

i thought the grandpa was going to molest the daughter and the mom was going to see. that would have made it even more understandable that the mom wouldnt give up the tablet

They aren't armchair parents

They are pedophiles trying to trick others into making their children easy prey.

And the horrible acting
And doing more with the concept in general
And not having it turn into tropey lifetime/ABC Family shit

tie it with a rope while it was recharging and hang it from the tree far enough from the trunk
i don't think its limbs could reach its back, plus its vision is frontal and it had trouble getting up in the van, it must have some trouble with spacial awareness so it's possible it would be stalled for a while

>Someone built the dogs and set them loose.
yeah but why? who created them? how did they escape control? we don't know
there is literally zero backstory and that completely eliminates the human-dogs connection, they might as well have been alien technology let loose on the planet to exterminate earthlings, we just don't know shit
and that makes the "enemy" completely foreign, while in all other episodes the enemy was pretty much society, usually our current one in some distorted, but foreseeable, form

a shotgun with more than 2 fucking shells and a riot shield

parenting is hard but trying to make it easy usually leads to monumental fuckups

I actually liked it. It’s the one technology that I actually believed was plausible since it drew all of its inspiration from Boston Dynamic. The only flaws were the brain-dead horror film trope protagonists, and the lack of explanation for things that seem to be pointless (why did they steal the van? Were the teddy bears the same from Black Museum?)

I kept expecting the mom to develop a fetish for watching her daughter have sex. Too much time on Sup Forums I guess.

>how did they escape control?
We have no reason to think they "escaped control". The natural assumption is that they're a WMD, and someone fired it.

It's like a story about people in the aftermath of a nuclear war. Do we really need to hear who pulled the trigger?

Why did the chick in Crocodile put on porn after killing the dude? Did she want the hotel manager to know what she was watching as an excuse for where she was when the dude died?

Apparently a lot of people hate their moms.

Yeah, plus it's embarrassing enough that the staff probably wouldn't ask too many questions.

A bald assertion isn't an argument. I've already refuted your representation based arguments. Give me something else.
