PUNISHER STORYTIME
All this year I'll be storytiming Punisher comics, mostly focusing on pre-Ennis issues with the occasional issue from the Ennis era and maybe a few post-Ennis issues at some point. Expect at least 1 storytime per week.
So far we've read several different Punisher titles, including ongoings, miniseries, graphic novels, "guest appearances" in other characters' books, and various stories in "special issues". There've been a bunch of different writers and artists, but one constant has remained: All of the issues of The Punisher's main ongoing series that I've posted so far (the first 44 up to this point) have been written by (indie comics legend) Mike Baron.
That's about to change.
Today we read the first 2 fill-in issues from the Baron era, both written by Chuck Dixon (another indie comics legend, although unlike Baron he's mostly remembered for his mainstream work at this point). These are NOT Dixon's first work on the character. Before this he had done a "graphic novel" entitled "Kingdom Gone" (which I'll be getting around to storytiming eventually), but these were his first issues on the main series. Sandwiched in between them are three issues by the series' then main writer, Mike Baron. These are some REALLY FUCKING SOLID comics and I highly recommend that everyone on Sup Forums reads them. If these don't sell you on old school Punisher then... well, then you just have shit taste, man.
That said, let's hop right in and not waste any more time.
This is...
