This is what I wanted!

Gayyyyyyyy

Now it's a Clannad: After Story ending, fuck this shit.

I unironically wanted something like this.
Jack deserved happiness.

It's canon now. It's canon in my soul.

The Jashifag in me says yes
But the decent writer in me says no

Is this real, or more fanfic faggotry?

If only.

Here's the real alternate ending:

>1 dislike

I-I feel a little better...

You're a dumb nigger, this is done by some deviant art fan fic artist. Don't try to make this ending more tolerable with your lies

>You're a dumb nigger, this is done by some deviant art fan fic artist.
Oh yes because the pile of cliches, tv tropes entry pages, and anime rip offs is inherently better because its official.

The ending we got was fanfic tier so shtiting on fanfics isn't a defense anymore.

Listen here faggot. Fanfics are whatever, but did you even see the main topic? I'm assuming you're OP or pretending not to be, but trying to ruse other anons by claiming "there was an alternate ending" is bs.

Season 5 was excellent except for that ending.

Killing off Ashi at the very end during the wedding scene was completely unnecessary. The creators did that solely for edgy bittersweet bullshit that doesn't even make any sense.

It would have made more sense to end the series at the wedding or killing off Ashi much sooner

There is most likely going to be some form of an extended ending. Scott Wills released various backgrounds used for Season 5 and we didn't see this one. They most likely cut out some scenes to fit for the TV release. I wouldn't be surprised if the blue-ray DVD had a little more. What is interesting is some fans say they are gonna try to contact Phil LaMarr and Tara Strong voice this (maybe some fans would even animate it)?

They were originally going for 12 episodes before the network slashed it down to 10, so lots of background art is probably leftover.

There has been a rumor going around about the DVD release having an alternate ending, which I hope to God is true.

Plot twist: There are 2 extra episodes on the DVD release.

Glad someone brought this up. Was going to make a thread about it... but this works.

>They were originally going for 12 episodes before the network slashed it down to 10
Source? All throughout this I felt 10 was an unusually small number.

SOURCE OR DIE, RIGHT NOW

Shyamalanian Plot Twist: They're filler episodes.

>more scenes of lovey dubby jack and ashi
YES PLEASE

This is now my canon.

Now we just need to get some animators and hire the VA's to complete it.

I like bittersweet endings, but I agree with execution being lackluster. She could've dropped dead from a random heart attack during the wedding and it would've been the same. Her death was introduced too late into the ending, lessening its weight and making it harder to associate it with a consequence of fixing the past.

I wasn't even phased when she keeled over. It just seemed to be such an afterthought it didn't even register with me.

>t. roasties

i bet you wish Romero & Juliet ended with them finding each other in the after life or Jack finding another piece of debris amongst the many around him to float on as her and Rose waited for rescue

get fucked

youtube.com/watch?v=mAorIEjwDRE

Better ending

Knowing Phil LaMarr and Tara Strong, they'd probably do it. Also the community does have some good animators.

>movie about people on the titanic
>expecting a happy ending

Big fucking difference between that and wanting a happy ending for a show that included episode XCIX

Best ending right here:

>Jack defeats Aku in a much better fight scene

>He can't get back to the past

>Lives much of the rest of his life as the King Jack vision

>Finally. he knows he will soon be on his deathbed, he only wants to talk to one last person, his parents.

>King Jack approaches the Guardian, who is battered and without his glasses(?)

*Unsheathes Katana*

WACHA

Z0NE could probably do it easily and judging from pic related, probably would want to.

Why didn't they do this?

Nah, this is fanfiction.net tier shit. I'd have preferred an extra scene showing Ashi back in the future, with Aku gone but with his effects still in the world, but with the people that Jack gave hope to working for their better future.

>inb4 time travel doesn't work that way
The ending is already full of paradoxes, this would make it a split timeline. Aku could be a force beyond time and space, whose death would be transcend all timelines. Or some bs like that.

I feel so satisfied

Get him in on this shit.
We must summon our strongest allies.

>12 episodes
I bet the last episode was originally going to be double length. If this is true, goddamn it AS you cucked the ending

>Oh no Ashi died
>Syke! Deus ex Machina, bitch.
>Ash is fine

Yeah I'm glad they chose the ending they did. There is no reason to kill a character and resurrect her immediately afterward. Either kill her or don't.

This is exactly what should've happened

There was no reason to kill her in the first place. The show was fucking over, that was a last minute fuck you hammered in.

more like
>deus ex machina
>deus ex machina
>deus ex machina(literally)
>deus ex machina(Literally again)
>celtic magic ex machina
>"Oh no ashi called got put in time out"
>........
>this isn't a show where you can just deus ex machina out of everything, cmon give us a little credit.

seconded, somebody drop them a line

Someone get Zone to animate this, then we could have some get Tara and Phil to voice the lines (maybe the Gods, but that depends).

Zone might be streaming tonight, someone should broach the topic.

God's voices could easily be done by user's with a good mic, the voice actors are intentionally doing pretty generic holy voices.

Fake and gay.

>Ashi disappears the moment Aku is slain
>She fades away in Jack's arms
>replace her shitty last line with something more meaningful
>wedding scene is replaced scenes of a forlorn Jack returning home
>cue alt ending

It just may have salvaged what was left of this series

Another ending some fan made. A much happier scene with the wedding.
streamable.com/3jsad

I'm really glad to see so many people creating much happier and much more fitting endings.
It gives me hope we may see some kind of semi-official revisit of the events of the finale. If not then at least the fans look after themselves.

there are rumors the DVD release has an alt ending

Maybe they could be a different ashi that was based on his future adventures, and she could appear her in his past during the end.

Someone forward this video to Phil, Tara, and Zone. The fans can at least attempt to create an alternate ending that is more satisfying.

>Sup Forums
>"""rumors"""
probably nothing more than that
but if season 5 has taught me anything, it's to always have hope

If season 5 has taught me anything, it's that if you can find a way to see hope where there is none, you can have the honor of gettting wiped from time.

I wish but I doubt it and even if it did I'm not sure it would change very much overall.

>I'm really glad to see so many people creating much happier and much more fitting endings.
Was this Genndy's plan all along? To make the ending in such a way that guaranteed a huge outpouring of fanwork to "fix" it so people would keep talking about it?
Madman.
I don't mind, though, I love seeing all the nice things people are coming up with

I agree. The one thing about a poor ending is there will be fans who share their ideas and projects.
There's already numerous fics, images, and comic strips. I get that an author cannot satisfy everyone and should not be expected to compromise their own vision, but I also get that fans have their own wishes (as individuals and sometimes as a group).
The ending doesn't cancel out the good parts of the show, it just means some people wish to leave the book open to write their own epilogue.

...

...

This guy gets it

The pacing issues were too much, in the end. Genndy tried to get away with everything despite only having ten episodes to do it in and we ended up worse off for it. Him and the guys signing the checks both failed. God damn shame.

Just when I thought it couldn't get worse ... why does every story need to strong arm in a love story?

Why does every story try to strong arm a "bittersweet" ending that forsakes logic and continuity?

It just didn't feel deserved, especially when they establish and take advantage of figurative and literal deus ex machina many times in the original and new series.
If you want to do a bittersweet ending, it needs to be written in a way that makes viewers feel like that was the only way it could end. people will(and are) refuse to accept it otherwise.

That's dumb. There's no point in killing her in the first place if you're going to bring her back literally five minutes later.

If you want to have your cake and eat it too that badly, Jack should've just ascended to godhood and used his new celestial powers to rewrite reality to reap the effect while destroying the cause. So not only does Ashi live but so does everyone else in the future. However ascending to godhood makes it so Jack must permanently reside in the celestial realm so he can't be with his family, his friends or his lover.

Though best ending would've probably been he doesn't get back to the past. Aku is killed and he resigns that what was done cannot be undone but there is atleast hope for the future and he and all his allies set off to rebuild a Post-Aku world.

>there is no point in killing her in the first place
That is what people are upset about, we don't think the best ending would be bringing her back, it's just people salvaging what we got

It's a fan's proposed alternative.

But you're just makin' it worse.

>There has been a rumor going around about the DVD release having an alternate ending, which I hope to God is true.

Where are you getting that rumor?

>That's dumb. There's no point in killing her in the first place if you're going to bring her back literally five minutes later.

Well, unless you wanna cut off people who would bitch about the grandfather paradox by going "no, the gods intervened and made a special exception."

On a related note, imagine how annoyed all the guests are gonna be when they get the SECOND invitation.

They can't be too annoyed. It's not like it was Ashi or Jack having second thoughts and running away.
If anything they would be even happier once they were sure Ashi was sticking around.

youtube.com/watch?v=mAorIEjwDRE&feature=youtu.be

Idk, my personal opinion before the finale was as long as 3 conditions are satisfied when the credits roll
>Aku is dead
>Jack AND Ashi are alive
>Jack AND Ashi are a happy couple
I literally wouldn't care what else happened in the episode, whether or not they went to the past, whether it got deus ex machina'd, whether some cheesy power of love shit happened, everything else was secondary to me at that point.

why would the official alternate ending used a mirrored video on the lead up? fake and gay

I like the basic idea of the gods making an exception to guarantee the happiness of two heroes, and I REALLY like the visual of them standing together overlooking the valley, but the boards between need work and kinda just meander between 'lol nude joke' and 'this is home.'

Presumably Ashi has already seen unspoiled wilds, she's been in the past for a bit.

>Ashifags

LOL

swooce the fuck outta here

I legit started tearing up during the little montage of Jack and Ashi and I felt absolutely nothing from the actual ending. Just confusion

fucking hell Genndy. Ya blew it.

Who hurt you so bad, user?

>that pic

>tfw terrified of ashi getting LAGANNED.com
>aku dies, tense up in preperation
>she collapses
>"I'm okay, I felt him leave me"
>Immediately drop my guard
>let myself relax and enjoy the imagery and happiness
>start tearing up because it's all i could have hoped for
>she frowns
>actually start screaming "GOD FUCKING DAMMIT"
I drank enough shitty rum that night to give myself my first hangover.

The best thing about the ending we got is that shipperfags are eternally BTFO!

You tumblr virgins can go ahead and keep creating fanfiction though. I'll stay for the porn.

It took a day for the sorrow to kick in full force for me for some reason.

YOU TOLD ME THEY WOULD BE OKAY MIRAPOSTER

I - I thought they would.

In my defense, my plans don't seem to work out...

>my first hangover
Your emotions are wrong and you are a sad little person.
>sorrow
Please don't rape language anymore.

Absolute gayest
Also its canon SJ gods are cunts

>NO REFUNDS

Is this real or fan made

Honestly after how long he had to deal with Aku without help from the gods who fucking specifically gave his father and him the duty of defeating Aku I'm kind of mad they didn't reward Jack for his efforts, the dude went through more than enough suffering to warrant it.

It's a fan thing.

That's my biggest beef with the ending. Okay so Ashi has to disappear because Aku's dead. Absolutely, go for it. Why would you not have Ashi start fading away minutes after Aku is dead?

Why would you have it wait so long (it probably took years to set up the wedding) just to have Ashi keel over and -poof- in seconds right before the wedding? It felt so out of place and that it was only there to force a gut-wrench ending

>Half of Sup Forums catalog are aku or samurai generals since Sunday

Nobody give a shit about SJ; your are more toxic that ponies.

The fact that this question can even be asked about a deus ex machina wish-fulfillment ending should hint Genndy towards how uncool his ending was

I know how you feel. Didn't drink anything but I'm with you on the fake out, relief, and then "surprise". It's stupid.
I'm really glad I found that montage video. It's awesome.

>so Ashi has to disappear because Aku's dead
This itself creates problems because no Ashi means no Jack getting to the past.
It's a self-defeating paradox. Let Ashi live, let her be happy, let Jack be happy. Nothing wrong or weak or wrong about that kind of ending.

Anyone got any data, or are you two taking us for a ruse cruise?

Whatever works.

holy shit this is amazing

>nothing wrong or weak about that ending
Especially because people can easily accept plot contrivances if it leads to a desirable ending.
If a bitter ending feels avoidable, people will be butthurt forever

why cant tumblr ever get rick right?

>Anyone got any data, or are you two taking us for a ruse cruise?
Well, the image of the unused (and/or cut) background is legit: animationbgs.blogspot.com/

>nightdreams16.deviantart.com/

y'all know its fake right.
