The Superman meeting Batman episodes were the high point and what Batman vs Superman should have fucking been.

It's not as good as Batman TAS and debatable as to whether it's as good as Beyond but it's got choice moments and its particular brand of art style became the norm for other DC cartoons for almost a decade.
My favorite episode is when Superman comes back from "death" and the first time he goes to visit Lex to warn him about him being the hero again, Lex breaks out some gauntlets and beats the fucking shit out of him before saying "Welcome back, Superman."

I think it's pretty good.
The guy who voiced Parasite kinda sounded like Norm Macdonald, so that's pretty fun.

it\s the only DCAU series worth a watch

It is excellent. It is exactly how Superman should be.

I think you're mixing the Doomsday movie up with the show.

No way, I really do remember that shit happening in Supes TAS. Supes comes back, he goes to Lex's place, tells him "Tonight, you.", and then Lex beats the fucking shit out of him

Are you sure user? Cause I don't remember any episode like that, but I do remember something like that in the Doomsday movie.

It's pretty much the most perfect Superman adaptation there's ever been.

As for quality in a vacuum, people tend to say it's "more consistent" than Batman:TAS in that it while it doesn't have as many great episodes, it doesn't have as many bad ones either.

>Superman gets BTFO by Joker and needs to be saved by Batman

Yeah, the "high point". The actual high point was Darkseid.

Death of Superman never happened in the animated series. You are definitely thinking of the animated movie Doomsday.

It is consistently good, with some really great moments.
"In the end, the world didn't really need a super man. Just a brave one."

>Why did you leave me? WHYYYYYYY
Lex please stop being such a clingy bitch of a girlfriend

>Michael Ironside as Darkseid
>Clancy Brown as Lex Luthor
How did they get such perfect voice actors?

They tried.

and braniac eps are always cool it also has threads that leak in to jlu

The standards were higher back then.

i cant imagine any one else doing darkseid, when darksied comes back from the dead in jlu is fuck awesome

Boner-inducing.

...

DCAU Darkseid was the first cartoon villain to terrify me.
The guy's an utter monster and I love every minute of it.

He was amazing, his meeting with Superman, when he just wrecks him with his omega beams and says "That's who I am" as he casually walks through the tube without even bothering to finish Superman is amazing.

Michael Ironside's voice is half the reason, the other hald was the GOAT art style.

This series left me unable to take any movie Luthor seriously

>Kurgan will never be the live action Luthor
It ain't fair.

The fact that he puts it back after using it just shows how goody two shoes he is

When I was a kid, I kept getting Tom Clancy and Clancy Brown mixed up

Yes, fucking awesome. Just as good as New Adventures of Batman and Robin and is the poster child of what every Superman cartoon should aspire to be like. Also, Lobo shows up in an episode and is absolutely fucking fantastic.

it was a tribute to how awesome superman was
the creators pored that love into every eps
this was how superman should be represented

...

Lex Luthor opens an amusement park then hires a bunch of terrorists to hold it hostage.

>Average day in America
GD you glorious bastard.

This is also a great measure as to where people saw Superman back then. This is back when the Superman v Goku thing really got started and if any of you have ever read the Wizards article it didn't start out great for the Man o' Steel.

>Superman's parents are pro gun conservatives
>are alive
>Batman's parent's were gun control liberals
>are dead

the creators openly admitted they prefer batman more, were often at a loss when trying to come up with story ideas for superman, and only made the show at all because it was mandatory for them also getting to make batman

you are now aware that a much of batman fans who were largely meh o superman still approached him with more respect and forethought than Snyder

well what ever
it got me into superman i was never a huge fan but this series made me love the big blue boy scout and also proved you didn't have to be "edge" to be good

Andrea Romano is the best casting and voice director in the animation business.

kek

Paul Dini has a REALLY impressive set of names on his Rolodex somehow.
No idea how he knows and is on working terms with so many excellent voice actors.

Yeah, Superman TAS is a great show but Batman TAS has higher highs and lower lows. By STAS they had ironed out a lot of the production issues that plagued BTAS and so were able to put out a more consistent show.

They hyped him up just the right amount

It had the best Superman theme behind the Donner films

youtube.com/watch?v=FHpOVBEXCxM

I remember them talking about it, how Superman's themes should always have trumpets and such because it makes it triumphant and powerful

Good show, sets up the base work for JL and JLU, and the voice acting is goddly. Although i'm sad supermans voice actor left after Stas but the JLU one grew on me a lot towards the end.

It has the best Lobo

youtube.com/watch?v=osEjX0Bb2X0

with the best voice

iirc didn't he come back for JLU? he didn't do JL but did JLU?

Best Clark Kent/Lois Lane interactions.

Fuck man, It's been a long time since I watched Superman. What was the reasons why Darkseid came instead of Brainiac?

so, it had the best of everything?

It never said that the Kents were pro-guns. As someone who lives in England, I can tell you that they have guns because they are farmers. All farmers, regardless of their thoughts on gun control will own a gun. You need to be able to protect your livestock from wild animals and assholes trying to steal them.

In an episode of Justice League Superman ended up killing Darkside on the same planetoid Brainic had set up shop in, which was subsequently destroyed. When Luthor went looking to resurrect Brainiac, he got Darkside as well.

...

Much like the Batman Animated Series is the defining distilled essence of the character, Superman TAS is the same. It's the best interpretation of all the characters.

except Green Lantern. They handled that weirdly.

Nope. George Newburn stayed on after Justice League and into JLU. Then he voiced Superman in other projects, like Injustice and Superman vs. The Elite.

Tim Daly, who voiced him in Superman TAS, also reprised the role for other projects, like Justice League: Doom and the two Superman/Batman animated movies.

"How did he survive that car bomb? How?"

"...he's Superman!"

*Gas chamber activates.*

Possibly the high point of the series.

Actually, Luthor didn't get Brainiac back at all. Tala, whom Luthor had snubbed as a potential lover, regularly abused, and forced to resurrect Brainiac, decided to screw him over at the last minute by summoning Darkseid instead.

Seems like the ending was ambiguous and was hinting at something.

that was really the greatest thing

I assumed using dark magic and human sacrifice doesn't fix a computer, but might summon an evil god.

Do you think that clone got molested?

The 3 Batman episodes were horrible.

Repeatedly

I forgot how good Lois was in this

To be fair, Batman got BTFO by the Luthorbot and had to be saved by Superman.

This is the gayer than gay porn.

Who's your daddy?

>Robert Barone became a space bounty hunter

Man, Everybody Loves Raymond got weird in the later seasons.

As a kid it amazed me that they were dealing with a an attempted serial killer, another attempted murder and an execution on a Saturday morning cartoon in the same era when other shows were so skittish about violence and whatnot.

...

...

They also admitted to growing much more fond of him after making the series.

This fucker right here
