Sometimes.

Have too because some actors speak like they have a dick in their mouth

Yes because english is not my mother tongue and it's hard to understand actors when they speak very silently

Come on you daft cunt

Half the fun i get from watching limmy is deciphering what the fuck he's saying

If you watch him with subs you're a real pleb

For English language films obviously not, if you do you are fucking retarded.

this

stop watching gay porn m8

Always, because im retarded and have trouble differentiating the atmospheric sounds from the dialogue

this

Yes, especially if they are from Scottland

not really

If English is your first language you have no excuse.

I'm searching for subtitles for Narcos 3rd season

yes, because audio balance is a foreign concept in hollywood

>watch a pre 00s movie
>muffled shit with terrible mixing
Yeah, real retarded

Does it help with English if it isn't?

Deaf people?

sometimes

>if you do you are fucking retarded.

I'll sometimes pop on subtitles for shows/movies I've seen before to see if I can catch anything new

Only if you are watching something with ebonics in it.

>the first language of deaf people is English

ya wat

same.

or try watching Vikings or Peaky Blinders withous subs

youtube.com/watch?v=6YzyaPgSHZc

gies yer laptop m8

you now remember that us non-native english speakers learned that it's allright to use the term "mother tongue" because of Gary Oldman in Dracula.

or maybe if you're watching with your friends and people are commenting it's nice to have them on so you can still follow. or maybe you don't have friends

wanna know how I know you're using english subtitles while english is your first language?

I try not to but I just had to with Trainspotting because I couldn't understand half of what the fuck they were saying.

>Away from home
>Watch movie on laptop late at night
>Explosions and music are blaringly loud
>Characters are whispering

What are headphones?

Headphones are for virgins that live with their parents.

go ahead and watch this without subtitles

youtube.com/watch?v=7dEKQL0I4LU

I dare you you MOTHERFUCKER

I've connected the laptop to a tv but the tv has shit speakers.

That's just bad sound design.

For American films, yes.

They generally have some spic speaking in pigeon for a bit.

Yeah, and a reason to use subs

>pigeon

it's "pidgin" you backwoods redneck two-teeth fatfuck and mexicans don't speak it

their accents are actually tame as fuck.

I don't, even when it's in a language I don't understand. I just make up the dialogue and plot for those.

>tfw have tinnitus in left ear
>wearing headphones accentuates it

I can make out 90+% of what they're saying and english isn't my first language.
I've watched a lot of limmy's stuff before though, i'll give you that.

Niggers, spics, same shit.

Aye the edinburgh accent is about as easy as it gets up here. I don't know if you'd believe me when I say a lot of the lower classes in Glasgow speak exactly like the ned in OP's sketch and it isn't an exaggeration

Yes, because otherwise if I miss a line I'll rewind autistically until I've heard it correctly

>it's just you don't look like you're from round here, y'know?
christ I can't imagine a non Scottish person deciphering that line

whatssssshhhh going on in this thread?

yes but I only use subs in my own language because I want to see if there are any kino translations of the jokes and puns

I use English subtitles and my first language isn't English

Man up, faggot.

Non-native speaker here, got about 50 to 60% of the dialogue but I'm sure that if I were to see more of this dude eventually I'd understand all of it, like with The Wire I watched it all not really getting all the ape-talk other than what was important and then on second viewing with subs is much easier, came in handy when I was in LA and have to talk to them too.

yes because my house is fucking ridiculously loud

Only for films not in my native tongue (English).

I have to for everything now and it's really annoying.
I really should have listened to annoyed adults when they told me to stop listening to my headphones so loud when I was in my teens/early 20s.

I also think it's a few other things though:
Actors not speaking loud enough
My speakers being pretty shit

thanks YIFY

I am so sorry for you

I'm an english native, got the story of of the sketch but some sentences are literally gibberish to me

psst
'mere
boleso wauh
ri? wauh
fifty fi pens
seveny nine pens
coupla quit?
men is not much but t'all adds up duntit?
yano cmere
>scottish walking

>too retarded to read and take in whatever movie scene is happening at the same time

I think I have severe...I dunno, something. Because I don't know how people do this so effortlessly.

Yeah for anime.

>Americans have to use subtitles on their own films
Jesus,thats a new low

>implying we would willingly read

Non native english speaker here
I only use subtitles on movies which go for the 2deep4u route because I want to understand them thoroughly other then that they are just an obstraction

understood it fine, im from the south west of england

I don't need them if the quality is good, but if it's some YIFY audio quality shit, I'll need them to not miss anything

Films are a visual medium. If you need to read ANYTHING to understand you’re the biggest pleb.

I understood fine. I do live in the shit end of that city so this post probably isn't for me.

youtu.be/-mYoEpVXFbs

Dee Dee sketches are harder to understand for me. Or the jacqueline ones.

yes because descriptive text is hysterical and i want to screencap it

Has anybody noticed how netflix makes it hard for pirates to enjoy their shows? Usually web rips come without subtitles, now try watching Bright or Narcos without subs. Good luck.

youtube.com/watch?v=Q634WOrqsfA

ahead of you

youtube.com/watch?v=RWHNVwxJEeU

that fucks audio is awful

youtube.com/watch?v=-iLKHMYwmFg

>Films are a visual medium.
That's why you need subtitles, to make the audio visible.

Yes. Makes 2x speed easier.

Yes. Just so I can see how any new words I come across are spelled.

Yes because I am hard of hearing.

I'm pretty sure using subtitles has started to make me cross eyed.

Why is that one girl so fucking hot. I want to pound the fuck out of her pussy Jesus Christ

Same here, but if the film is in English I always use English subtitles.

Honestly if I'm introducing Trainspotting to someone new I'll recommend subtitles. I myself wish I woulda had subtitles when watching the fucking VVitch

Fuck me being an immigrant working in retail in Glasgow

Yes. A childhood of constant ear infections has damaged my hearing.

I only watch Korean movies, but I'm too young and successful to have the time to learn a language just for movies.

So, in case my obvious sentence isn't enough for your intellect to pick the answer up itself: yes.

I do because people literally always talk to me while I'm watching movies. My girlfriend talks to me the whole time and my mom and her nurses are always calling me for something. It's easy to respond back to people and read at the same time, but I can't listen to two conversations at once.

only when brits are speaking.

Honestly this. The speaking can range anywhere from super quiet to moderate levels. Dramatic sequences with music always jump to extremely loud levels. I feel like I have to costantly adjust volume because of this. Better to just use subtitles.

reminder that this is exactly why Limmy doens't have a career anymore and has to live off twitch donations

i can read really fast so subtitles and 3x speed is the default way to watch movies this way I can watch even more movies

English is first language. Watch every movie with subtitles.

I think I might have some kind of hearing dyslexia where the words I hear often don't match up with what's being said. I've had my hearing tested and there's nothing wrong with it.
Luckily I can read just fine.

Too bad there're no subtitles for day to day conversations. That could make me look a lot less autistic.

Yes, native speaker too. It's my biggest gripe with Amazon Prime streaming, the subtitles are not very good, at least compared to Netflix.

Benny Harvey RIP

I'm murrican and that's one of the few lines I understood

Londoner reporting. It’s easy to understand. Maybe because I know and have known quite a few sweaties.

Even after all these years of reading english books and watching english media i still put on english subtitles for an english movie because it would feel so wrong to not have them, even though i understand everything perfectly

i would like to thank everyone for learning english so we can shitpost in my native tongue

On everything but comedy.
