What? Why? I thought animation wasn't profitable unless you have a US marketing team or an orphanage of korean children drawing in exchange for rice?

They want to be the Koreans. Possibly also in exchange for rice.

Is it weird this is something I've been thinking about, actually? Like, how countries, as they develop, also develop unique animation, as well as how Africa seems like a place where something like this seems both unprecedented and murky in chances at success.

I'm not too well learned in the specifics of animation history regarding many nations, but knowing that China, Russia, and so much of Europe both eastern and western has had unique animation come out of it, to speak nothing of American animation history and development, makes me really interested to see how this goes.

Also interesting.

Uh... I don't know what to say... Good luck Nigeria.

This is basically it. A lot of Koreans are trying to grow their own industry beyond just doing shit contract work and make their own stuff, so basically every developing or second rate nation is trying to fill that niche. Russia is trying to train it's prisoners to do the work, Jamaica is trying to use it as a vent to alleviate it's social issues, and so on and so forth. From a larger administrative perspective Animation is usually seen as a kind of release valve where if you have a lot of people it's a career track to be made available.

I think they underestimate what a specialized skill-set is required. It takes more than being willing to work for ungodly amounts of time for very little money. Korean animation might be cheap and very assembly line, but they have to have a huge amount of technical training in a very demanding field. And even then they end up fucking up the result because animation is fucking hard. So imagine what happens when you got someone who DOESN'T have a network of old pros and facilities.

As someone who's lived in that country and gotten malaria there 4 times, they won't do jack shit. The project will most likely fail and not be successful.

Well that's more believable than the idea the Kenyans are about to start making and marketing African animations.

>korean children drawing in exchange for rice
>Black children drawing in exchange for rice

There was no difference they're just finally trying to get into the race for 2nd world than hopefully 1st world class.

It's the secret code for death squads?

Yeah, China is trying to get into the market as well with their stuff, so for those that want to watch actual chinese anime well, you can now

>inb4 are you the chink that has been spamming the Quan Zhi Gao Shou anime in Sup Forumsutism?
No, its kind of a interesting one though

>tfw four years pass and all Nigeria has to show for it is sub-canadian flash level at best

I'm reminded of that blurb in the Animator's Survival Kit on the matter of learning to be an artist and animation. 39-41 in the PDF.
floobynooby.com/pdfs/The_Animators_Survival_Kit.pdf

Maybe the real question isn't just whether the Nigerians'll be able to animate anything, but if they'll also be able to create artists.

Spoonfeed please? This sounds interesting on the whole.

>CN switches animation studios because the Nigerians will work for less rice
>Mutumbo starts animating Steven "model sheets are just a suggestion" Universe with no animation professionals to teach him

Are you ready, Sup Forums?

Ghana has its own car line, now Nigeria is going to have an animation company. What's next?

Gambia starts making h-games

THE GREAT AGE OF BLANIME IS NEARLY UPON US

They have all the knowledge of the rest of the world at their disposal. They just need to teach it to enough people. Of course you'll also get people who have skills in art to do it so there's no reason they would be unable to make good quality stuff. Animation students of only a few years in America get jobs doing big shows. It's all about drive, talent, and teaching.

Not Gambia but there is a guy from Ghana making one → epicworksnovels.com/

>but if they'll also be able to create artists
I'm sure with the 7th largest population in the world there are two or three artists around.

Come on milk chocolate is really the best I'm gonna get from Ghana? Where are my dark chocolate waifus?

It's not just about artists existing, but also about teaching people art skills and competency en-masse. A big population doesn't necessarily mean lots of good teachers or the knowledge base to do stuff, but I cannot speak too much on it, methinks.

Hehehe

NIGGERia

Hehehehehehe

NIGGERIA

lololololol

NIGGER

THEY HAVE NIGGER IN THEIR COUNTRY NAME

Africa already has original animated programming.

youtube.com/watch?v=PBw8whEhgOo

South Africa already did that. How else did they make district 9 cgi

WE WUZ ANIMATORS N SHIT

I hope it turns out like their movies, they're great

Reddit is right around the corner you know
Wasted quad

South Africa (as in the country) is not like the shithole war-infested many african countries are, the place is rather nice also Elon Musk was born there just for reference

>It's all about drive, talent, and teaching.
Exactly. And they have one. And they can surely find the second. But those things just don't pop out of the ground, they come from a robust institution not unlike a guild. They would have to import them from Korea and while not impossible by any means, it wouldn't be cheap and would be extremely high-risk.

And don't tell me the internet can teach them production animation. While a single talented individual might be able to learn that way, there's no way you're going to make an industry like that; you'll just end up with DeviantArt.

There's already one in Senegal. They're pretty great people too! Spent some time there when I was 15

*The Gambia

That's milk chocolate to you? My skin color is literally milk chocolate and I'm dark skinned.

Wasted quads, you could have saved this for Niger, a vastly inferior country. By the way, Niger is pronounced "Nigh-zhair".

Everyone's gotta start somewhere. Plus many of Nigerians go to top schools in the anglosphere and come back home with their skills. It's not like they're living in mud huts speaking click languages.

South Africa's now a good deal shittier than some of their neighbors, actually. Violence is getting pretty bad there.

I work in IT, and it seems like management is constantly trying to get me to automate or simplify or document my job enough so they can pay someone in Bangalore 1/10th of my salary to do it and then sack me.

>prisoners, conscipted Africans, Jamaican junkies...

Good to know people value skilled animators even less.

Fuck this earth.

...

you are a mssive fucking retard

HURRDUURR DEY TOOK OUR JEEBS

Go back to your containment board

I hope it works out. Last time I was approached by a Nigerian publishing house I was told to bail the fuck out. He was basically giving me the keys to the empire (full collaboration, part of the core team, hand in internel affairs) even though he never met me before that day.
I was told by an aunt who worked for nigerians to basically not sign anything, and bail, because she made that mistake with a nigerian company and worked her to exhaustion and depression. Besides their legal proceedings are so shady they might actually steal money from me or make me participate in shady stuff.

And we're africans too, so we know how shady other africans can be, and we stay away as much as possible.

After that i discovered they were tracing marvel designs and comic panels for their own purposes.

>And we're africans too, so we know how shady other africans can be, and we stay away as much as possible.
out of curiosity which part of Africa are you in?

Grew up in Senegal

Lived in that country as well user, can confirm

Care to elaborate?

If anyone in Nigeria can make animation as good as places like Ghana and Uganda make movies then I'd be game for it.

There's no good chocolate for that skin color. You got what I meant.

Post animation from your native country
All my country has is this
>youtu.be/UNhMUzq28MY

>all credit goes to ololfilm.com and the creature "abdisalam aato"
>the creature
>Abdisalam Aato (born 1970) is a Somali-American film director, producer, entrepreneur and media consultant

>yfw Nigeria is more relevant in terms of animation than Germany

>MC is not black
>MC is generic blonde guy that dual wield #29854859
>1 brown girl
I'm confused as hell

Yfw this get an animation adaption

youtu.be/iXYmFqEkCGQ

>yfw the USA gov't won't do the same, so as to establish their cartoon supremacy all over the world and solve the problem of unemployed animators

weebporn mate. also I doubt most (non-brown/black) weebs wish to see their waifus being BLACKED if they have the option for unless you are a self hating cuck and that is your fetish, I sure dont and that is from someone being called here a "tumblerina", dude kind of run a crowdfunding campaing to get some funds for it though

I probably think this way because I'm black and thus haven't had the opportunity to self insert into a lot of characters of my own race, but do white people really find it hard to watch porn with black guys fucking white women in it? Do you feel like the white woman is being taken from you or something? Can you not just self insert into a dick of a different color? I see this all the time in /gif/ and some of the outrage has to be real.

Dear Sir:

I have been requested by the Nigerian National Animation Company to contact you for assistance in resolving a matter. The Nigerian National Animation Company has recently concluded a large number of contracts for western animation in the sub-Canadian region. The contracts have immediately produced moneys equaling US$40,000,000. The Nigerian National Animation Company is desirous of waifu production in other parts of the world, however, because of certain regulations of the Nigerian Government, it is unable to move these funds to another region.

You assistance is requested as a non-Nigerian citizen to assist the Nigerian National Animation Company, and also the Central Bank of Nigeria, in moving these funds out of Nigeria. If the funds can be transferred to your name, in your United States account, then you can forward the funds as directed by the Nigerian National Animation Company. In exchange for your accommodating services, the Nigerian National Animation Company would agree to make another season of your favorite catoon/draw lewds of you waifu/make your ship canon.

However, to be a legitimate transferee of these moneys according to Nigerian law, you must presently be a depositor of at least US$100,000 in a Patreon account which is regulated by the Central Bank of Nigeria.

If it will be possible for you to assist us, we would be most grateful. We suggest that you meet with us in person in Lagos, and that during your visit I introduce you to the representatives of the Nigerian National Animation Company, as well as with certain officials of the Central Bank of Nigeria.

Please call me at your earliest convenience at 23-683-8906. Time is of the essence in this matter; very quickly the Nigerian Government will realize that the Central Bank is maintaining this amount on deposit, and attempt to levy certain depository taxes on it.

Yours truly,
Animator Mikaeli Johanna Kricfalusissis

Most of the time people mention muh boogeyman, it at least makes some kind of sense. You I have to think are just parroting things you hear on your first day here.

There are a lot of good things the government could be funding instead of whatever bullshit they're doing instead.

>There are a lot of good things the government could be funding
Such as arts.

>Kricfalusissis
Finish your projects first and we'll talk.

Yes...

Let's hope that whatever that comes out from these studios will be far more impressive than Nollywood film ones. (Nollywood movies, from what I gather in my YouTube research, seem to be really boring romances with flat TV production values that makes Lifetime TV movies look like Breaking Bad.)

It would be hilarious if the author unconsciously writes bits of his own Ghanaian lifestyle into the story, for all the Japanese-y feel the work wants to achieve.

That would actually be a great improvement, honestly. One thing I can think of immediately: copy in some visual shorthands from other animations (e.g dramatic angles or transitions) would kinda make this output more...coherent. It'll still be cheesy, but at least it'll be more enjoyable.

America First, amirite?

Bring back Biafria! Nigeria is a meme country, and I'm ashamed that my parents came from such a place.

Why not. Literally can't be worse than Canada at this point.
Also creating jobs in Africa = less rapefugees on our side.
Fucking win win.
Hope they get some geniuses in the lot to make African lore cartoons too. Or 2016:animated

>They want to be the Koreans.
O boy, can't wait for African Idols, imitating Korean Idols, Imitatin Japanese Idols, who originally imitate American Idols.
Also
>Africa develop a MMO and esport addiction
>AIDS, famine and overpopulation literally anihilated overnight

>russian obscenities vs african witch doctor curses in every e-game now

>Literally can't be worse than Canada at this point.
ABSO LUTELY untrue. Even though Canadian animation is generally flash trash there's a hell of a lot worse. A HELL of a lot worse.

I mean a pretty large amount of black man/white woman porn pretty heavily plays up the race fetish aspect, which like any fetish can be pretty unappealing to someone who doesn't share it.
And since it's so common people tend to assume that anything involving black man/white woman contains that race aspect.
I mean I'm sure there are lots of people who do actually hate it for Sup Forums reasons but I don't think its what drives most of the dislike for it.

>It would be hilarious if the author unconsciously writes bits of his own Ghanaian lifestyle into the story, for all the Japanese-y feel the work wants to achieve.
desu that would make it way more interesting than if he succeeded in making a straight knockoff.

And don't forget the jajaja and huehuehue

No. the Worse you think about is still made in Cantnada.

No. No it's not.

Shut up, Beavis

give it 20 years and it'll be just a repeat of Rhodesia

This started as a newspaper comic in SA and eventually got it's own show.
youtube.com/watch?v=acceApy7tBs

There's also those CG movies like Zambezia that were made by a South African studio but they were pretty shit.

>more interesting than if he succeeded in making a straight knockoff.
I don't even understand the desire to make a knock off of anime-style stuff. It's always jarring to join art communities online and discover that everyone draws manga styled stuff with absolutely no originality.
And it's either technically shitty, or technically good but soulless because it's just a good copy of something you've seen thousands of times.

>I don't even understand the desire to make a knock off
Globalism.

Imagination is actually a pretty rare talent. Many artists are fine remaking something they liked with little extra thought put into it.

>all those butthurt white unemployed animators

>if the government wants to build its creative sector, it first needs to provide basic infrastructure like consistent electricity.

Jeeze. Well, more power to them.

Where? There are no comments on the page.

see

kkkkkkkkkk?

Given enough time, even monkeys can make animated movies.

>the Nigerian National Animation Company would agree to make another season of your favorite catoon/draw lewds of you waifu/make your ship canon.

This must surely be legit!

>a monkey is better than Cletus
lol

America already has cultural hegemony over most of the world, so don't worry.

When can we expect ISIS to start producing animation?
If they're half as well produced as their HD execution videos, they'd actually be pretty good.

Can't be assed to find links.

Princess (by Morgenthaler)
Jungledyret Hugo
Valhalla
Help! I'm A Fish (that's the eng dub version obviously)
Fuglekrigen I Kanofleskoven

Probably a shitton more I can't remember off the top of my head.

Contrary to what the predominately upper middle class white girls on the internet tells you, the vast majority of brown people are able to both create and enjoy media without anyone that looks like them in it. We've been doing it for centuries at this point, after all.

>America
>cultural
Pick one.

I can't wrap my head around it the other way around. I can't get into interracial porn because I'm a black nerd; I can talk in complete sentences and use semicolons properly. I can't imagine interracial porn is really for me because so often it's framed as barely better than bestiality as far as the dude is concerned.

>More globalism propaganda
You are restless for someone who isn't even paid.

>leftard need cartoon boards to virtue signal his racist desire to decapitate people for being born civilized
really makes you think.

Damn you're dumb as fuck faggot lmao

>Any sub Saharan country developing skills and services that anyone would even want to hire.

...

The Nutshack

Can't Nigeria just stick to what it's best at?

Online scamming?

No because Nigeria is banned from most of the internet because of that.

Nigeria ought to focus on it's infrastructure and economy before jumping to animation.

They want to boost their economy through animation

No you see, once we animated eet eet will come to be. Just like in Amedica and Japan. All of deir animation became so powerful dat eet became real and tangible like you and me.
