Why did Game of Thrones become so popular?

Why did Game of Thrones become so popular?

Why did incest porn become so popular?

the only big budget fantasy mini-series in town

Medieval soap opera that had facets that appealed to a broad audience

Because of all the SJW and wank material mixed with a big budget in the fantasy realm.

When will Netflix or Amazon make their own Game of Thrones equivalent?

people needed something after LotR

too bad it was this tripe

Season 1 was really good because it was a low-magic fantasy action/intrigue show where a bunch of relatively normal people got comeuppances for their character flaws. People like to watch dramas where the stakes are high and the circumstances generally believable.

Because the first season is absolutely fantastic and accessible. Relatively short seasons means that generally a lot happens in each episode and by the time the quality drops overall, everyone is so invested that we're still willing to watch it every week for fear of spoilers.

>Soap opera and drama for the female audience
>Fighting and tits and fantasy for the male audience
It ticks all the boxes to draw in customers

1. majority white cast
2. aesthetic similar to 90s television shows
3. apolitical story
4. sex
5. violence
6. mystery
7. it's actually pretty good

Have you ever been so poopy and gassy, that when you tried really hard even more poop came out? As if someone had shoved more shit into you didn’t know was here, kept flowing?

Sex, gore, grimdark

They have their heads too far up their own ass to pull it off.

It's a soap opera with dragons and sex scenes

Tumblr fags.

HBO employs people who actually know how to make good television shows. They know that a really good easily accessible show with a bunch of white people on it (not being political here, it's just the truth that whites still hold the most cultural power in the world) will always be the most successful.
And these two do not do any of this. They have drank too much of the political kool-aid and don't understand how to actually make money with their own tv shows. Has netflix made one profitable show?

>dude main characters die and morality is grey lmao
>its so unpredictable, just like life
>its like watching a game of chess, all the different people are strategically moving their pawns around the board, the politics of the world is really engaging

Swords n' Sorcery has always been popular and the show came along at the right place and time when people had a hunger for it again.

amazon recently got the rights to do a show based in middle earth, can't recall if they can actually do lotr or just set it some time after

Sex and incest
