Homage Cover thread

I've been wondering homage covers, Sup Forums.
Specifically - if there are any covers released in the last ten years that'll be referenced in the future. The more I look through solicitations, the more I see the same poses, the same cliches. In the past few years, were there even any covers memorable or iconic enough that future artists would want to allude to them when making their own?

The closest I can remember are Frank Cho's "OUTRAGE!" covers, but even then it's less because the original cover was in any way, shape or form memorable, and more about one artist telling the PC culture to go to hell.

Also, favorite covers (iconic/homageable or not) thread, I guess.

I could see this one catching on since it already got one.

Nice.

I don't get it.

Same people, I guess.

X-Men Legacy had a phenomenal set of covers by Mike del Mundo, but i don't know if that series will be well known enough to warrant homages.

Pic related, one of the more standout covers in the series

lol what a racist cover
They think Chinese eat dumplings like Americans eat burgers?

...

Aja, Shimizu and Del Mundo covers are best I've ever seen

...

bump

...

There was another one for the final issue that was a Cosmic Odyssey homage too

...

Elongated man shouldn't even be there. He's more like 1/2 bit.

Here you go.

they really should get Mignola to art 4th world stuff.

Now I want etrigan to be playable.

wut?

I wonder which team book cover has been homaged more: Giant-Sized X-Men or JL#1(Giffen/DeMatties)?

Forgot to post

It has to be pretty close

I'm almost sure this cover is the one that Marvel homages-- or reuses, however you want to see it, the most.

Worth looking through

I feel like it's JLI but it might just be because I recognize it more easily

fantastic. more pls

>Visits Reddit after years just to see how things are going
>People there (/r/comicbooks) are genuinely surprised that this Ms. Marvel cover is an homage, not original

Never again.

You gotta go to the comic company specific subs to find half decent posters.

>Starfire, but a gypsy.

That would be amazing.

One is the first issue of Batman & Robin under Morrison, being Dick and Damian's first team up.
The second is from a recent issue of Nightwing under Seeley(who loves to follow up on Morrison concepts), where Damian visited Bludhaven and they had to fight Professor Pyg and Dr. Hurt.

...

they're pirates...

here's the original
I even saw some sort of homage in a monstergirl harem manga

probably my favorite variant from the set

I fuckking love these golden/silver age clickbait covers

There's probably been similar examples but the Voltron one's the most recent.

Michael Allred is a god among men.

...

>no JLI

Shit, missed one

This variant alone is honest to god more entertaining than many comics today. It's just filled with so much wonder and imagery that could be a story on its own. It's almost shocking to me.

Those Chinese waiters are giving my dick a nice twitch.

>if there are any covers released in the last ten years that'll be referenced in the future

There was already a superman cover that referenced it.

Was there a cover for the recent Man-Thing that referenced "Ask me about my feminist agenda" by having him on a beach wearing that shirt, or is this one of those false-memory things?

What's even the context?

>Confused Guy

You forgot this one

Love this and the original.

I always hated that Superman cover because it always makes me hungry for burgers even if I'm full.

This year's FCBD Image comic had one with Spawn and that Fairyland character. Anyone got a scan?
