It looks cool, but I don't feel invested in the plot. Like every Genndy cartoon.

Why does Ashi have blonde hair in that poster?

fpbp as almost always now

I thought it was great. I still want someone to steal those ten scripts for season two Genndy has.

Basically good premise somewhat misused. Great looking background work but awkward animation. Overall pretty forgettable

Loved it and was very sad when it was cut down before it's time. Also had some thick asses too.

Think he'll ever release those?

So...did they fug?

No.

You know, I tried to get into this because it's so highly regarded here... and it just seemed so juvenile to me. I'm not sure what I was expecting.

The whole body, mind, and heart thing was super lame. Maybe I should give it a retry one of these days, but idk...

>You know, I tried to get into this because it's so highly regarded here... and it just seemed so juvenile to me. I'm not sure what I was expecting.
That's exactly the same thing I thought about Motorcity, another show highly regarded here.

It seems these early 2000s creators lost their touch after that era ended.

all over the place

it tries to be everything at once -- kaiju, shonen, horror, high school drama, Fast and Furious parody (!) without finding a consistent tone in either of them only to swerve into another genre episode later.

The finale is probably the only episode that has any worth story wise.

I watched it when I was older and somehow this cartoon made me feel like a was a little kid again. I don't really know why, I just felt very nostalgic watching it.
Even without it, it was pretty fun. I liked the action, the animation was pretty cool and the characters were quite interesting. Octus easily became my favorite character if anything because he was the most complex of the three of them. I wish Ilana had gotten more episodes centered around her because I liked her but I felt we never really got to know her as well as we did Octus and Lance.

>Fast and Furious parody
It was clearly a tribute to racing animes like Initial D. The whole show has classic anime love letter written all over it

I always loved how platonic their relationship was.

It's pretty damn good. I just rewatched it and I'm blown away by how much better it is than the current crop of cartoons, even than Genndy's current work in Samurai Jack. It plays with a lot of thematic elements but I feel it does a good job of isolating them enough to keep it all from seeming overwhelming, and it does a good job of developing most of the characters through small interactions over the course of the series. It also puts a great deal more effort into animation than the usual western cartoon and it shows. Still not some marvelous masterpiece, but there's some creative things it does and I think it's also one of the better attempts at blending cg with 2d.

It really seemed like they were building towards something romantic. I would've been surprised if season two didn't at least explore that possibility

And those backgrounds were fucking sexy. Some of Scott Wills best stuff.

Also I think it did an unusually good job of integrating music tracks into scenes. The Kimmy tutoring and tashy 497 scenes were surprisingly emotional thanks to it.

I think the show was trying to be power rangers, but instead of being kaiju fights and save by the bell It was kaiju fights and CW teen drama.

Took too long to get to the good stuff.

If the series had begun with the Siege of Galaluna, I think it'd have been more popular.

I'm not sure what that means, but most of the drama was centered around them being alien fugitives or one of them being a literal robot so I don't see how that's attempting to be a teen drama at all

It was supposed to be giant robot kaiju cartoon mixed with 1980's John Hughes movies. That's why they live in Sherman, Illinois.

90s teen sitcoms didn´t have much drama in general it was mostly light comedy and slice of life situatiions the drama was more or less contain in one or two very special episodes that where more the exception that he rule.
Teen dramas around the 2000 where more about the personal strugles of the charactes which is what Titan was more like.

That actually makes a lot of sense.

>Teen dramas around the 2000 where more about the personal strugles of the charactes which is what Titan was more like.
But...isn't that pretty much what all dramas are like?

Never cared much for it.

Couldn't make it past the first few episodes.

The episode where they learned an important lesson from preschool show almost killed me.

I-I thought it was funny...

Absolute kinography. If they make a second season I wish they'll get rid of the school shit entirely and just focus on the space adventures on Galaluna.

ABSOLUTE KINO

Absolutely KINO.

Best use of space age love song without a doubt

Would have been cool to see an episode where they come across an alien ship somehow and it's actually an alien prisoner transport ship, same kind from Samurai Jack s.5

I didn't appreciate it enough when it was on, but now I wish they'd bring it back.

Same. I was a stupid kid back then.
I was like "This is boring Geendy should make more Dexter!" Then I watched the show and wanted to punch younger me in the face for being an asshole.

Galaluna *will* be free.

Nope.

Genndy's weakest TV series which is still solid compared to everything else that was running at the same time. The best parts of the show were everything involving Galaluna the weakest parts were the highschool shit and the robot fights were boring as fuck . Octus was the best character while llana and Lance were bland uninteresting leads. Direction and art wise its probably his best work before Samurai Jack season 5, really liked the character designs and and background art for this. Its a shame because Dexter's Lab and Samurai Jack did a much better job with blending so many elements to create an ideal piece of work while Titan is merely the best looking one.

You know the art direction, particularly backgrounds, is Scott Wills. Pretty much all of Genndy's stuff is art directed by Scott Wills

I think it does a damn fine job of taking the monster-of-the-week formula and changing it up enough every episode to keep it refreshing

robot fights could have been better

It got cancelled before plot kicked in.

>Direction and art wise its probably his best work before Samurai Jack season 5
You're insane, I'm watching it for the first time right now and it's nowhere near original SJ. (It feels like some class project at times actually.)

If the plot hasn't kicked in after 20 episodes the show is dogshit. Even Avatar, which had 3 seasons more-or-less planned out, didn't do that.

This to a T

I wanted to see more of the horny cougar

I Am Octus and Lance and IIana's flashback episodes were better than the vast majority of Samurai Jack episodes.
Yes thank you, I meant that its his best looking one before Samurai Jack S5

I thought the show was great. Octus was actually a really interesting character. His relationship with Kimmy was always a highlight for me because it wasn't just him getting a hot girl. Kimmy was made out to be a alpha bitch who put out and was kinda stupid. And Octus clearly saw that there was more to her and that's why she falls for him. He treats her like more than just the stereotype she thinks she is. And as the series goes on, we see she clearly is a much more nuanced and interesting character. Especially after Octus is killed where despite them having broken up, she almost senses that something has happened to him.

The stuff with Lance's childhood was also amazing because its the best adaptation of Ender's Game there is. The problem I have with it is that we don't see those episodes until halfway through the series. We're thrown into the lives of these 3 alien refugees in episode 1 and we really don't have a sense of who they are. Had the series started with Lance as a little kid, I think a lot of kids would have related to him immediately and been more invested in the show and the character when we see him as a teenager. The the second episode could have shown Escape from Galaluna, and the third escape to Sherman high.

The worst part about this show being cancelled though is that Gendy says there were only 10 episodes left, they are supposed to be better than the first 20 (presumably because they are super overall plot heavy), and worst of all they were already written. So somewhere in Gendy's desk drawer, presumably between his Stash of Ashi porn and his script for Popeye, sits a pile of unproduced Symbionic Titan scripts that concludes this materpiece just gathering dust

Do you have a source for there being only 10 episodes left in total, rather than just 10 scripts that happened to be written?

The majority of Samurai Jack's episodes have very sloppy linework despite how well done the art direction is. I like how streamlined Titan's art was even if it didn't stand out the same way Jack did.

No, they had a knight/lady kind of relationship with sexual tension but Lance ultimately not pursuing that sort of thing.

If he had a sword he might've literally laid it between them on the mattress.

Y'all are delusional, it was clearly building toward romance.

I dunno, I'm not sure s5 Jack is better from a pure art standpoint. The animation probably is but I can't help but feel Titan had better background work despite not even being all that fantastical. Otherwise their artstyles are so different for the character models I feel it isn't a proper comparison. There's all also all the minor art inconsistencies in Jack that bring it down a bit.

Season 5 Jack is a million times worse than the original though, including visually. The inconsistencies you mention weren't really there.

I agree, but where it ended suggested neither was aware of or pursuing those feelings yet but even still they were still more intimate than Jashi

>There's all also all the minor art inconsistencies in Jack that bring it down a bit.
This, Jack has A LOT of inconsistencies throughout both runs, I didn't see nearly as many mistakes in Titan since its a much cleaner show.

One of my favorite shows. Lots of neat characters, great art, good music, and I even got into the plot. Hope it somehow comes back one day.

While does a male and female lead always have to hook up with one another? Why couldn't they just remain platonic? Lance would have been better hooking up with that goth chick.

>implying a knight's duties aren't to serve ALL his lady's needs
Besides, they're too teenagers left alone indefinitely in a life threatening situation. The king should really be expecting such an end result.

>While
*Why

Another hack show by the hack that is known as Genndy Tartakovsky.

Because it's a more compelling romance when the characters involved spend the whole series bonding as friends first.

I'm just telling you what canonically was supposed to be their relation and extrapolating from there.

I imagine the issue would have eventually been directly addressed, but ultimately they would have confirmed that no, they weren't going to fuck.

What's the best quality available for the show?

It's boring.

>Some of Scott Wills best stuff.
All of Scott Wills' stuff is his best stuff

/thread

I find that doubtful. They give them way to many moments where they bond alone, they spend even more time confiding in each other than even Octus, and when they offer up separate love interests for either they shoot them down - the klutz they set Ilana up with finds an even bigger klutz to pair off with when the team has to ditch the highschool dance. Lance and the goth shoot each other down twice despite fairly positive interactions. It'd be baffling to do all that just to set up a really intimate platonic friendship.

Looks like logoless version only DVDRip, logoed up to 720p. Fucking sucks, I know.

Sauce? I keep getting HDTV rips. I know its on iTunes but not sure if its 1080p

It's literally a Jashi expy. Sup Forums is so silly sometimes

Yes I know it came first

Difference is Jashi was shit

iTunes only has it in SD from what I can tell, and I've only found 720p TVRips so far. As usual, you can grab 'em all from Kametsu.

Excuse me. Please, delete this post.

To be fair it had double the episodes, AND didn't have to juggle a much more important plotline that fans had been waiting for for 13 years.

Why don't you just go back in time and delete it yourself like you did with your girlfriend?

>Jashi if their relationship was developed through the course of the show

I see no problems here. Also we would have gotten a Zeta Gundam ending instead of a Gurren Lagann ending.

...right, that does it.

And of course the irony is that THE WHOLE SHOW is a Samurai Jack episode expy.
What goes around comes around?

>No, they had a knight/lady kind of relationship with sexual tension but Lance ultimately not pursuing that sort of thing.
But those are the hottest kinds of ships. It mixes in the master/servant thing for extra kink

Eh, I don't like those (too squicky for me personally) but this one WASN'T that. They had disagreements all the time, it was pretty much a relationship of equals informally.
(Didn't Lance tell the KING off that one time?)

I agree, but I'm pretty sure Lance was supposed to be the 'ideal' kind of knight that doesn't let pining for his lady take the wheel.

Lance tells everyone off at one point or another. His last interaction with him was still that of a loyal soldier fulfilling a final order. He even salutes him and everything.

He understands his "job" in a very strange way though. It's clearly not deference to authority, more like whatever he SEES as his "duty".

>Ilana and Lance are reincarnations of Ashi and Jack

>cancelled before plot kicked in
>20 fucking episodes
Is Genndy an imbecile?

Well, he also sees the king somewhat as a surrogate father figure, so what exactly motivates him is really complicated

Still waiting for user to deliver on this.

In his defense, that's exactly how Gravity Falls, Adventure time, Steven Universe, Star vs, etc. have been doing things and look how insanely popular they are. Genndy even managed to pack more character development into that season than many of those shows have managed in several

And all of those shows are shit and generally hated by Sup Forums, more or less depending on the specific show. There's a good reason for that.

Ironically we loved them until they started getting plot heavy

was the setup supposed to be for a MotW, but the setup ended up being more interesting,
It's like opposite SU, when the MotW is better than the plot.

So who was the best waifu and why was it Ilana?

Based on what I've read around here that's not at all correct.

You mean only waifu, right? This show didn't exactly develop a lot of characters.

GF was loved early on and popularity declined right after the journal author plotline payoff

Adventure Time has gone up and down, but has waned since failing to deliver satisfactory plotlines for things like the lich. And since all that relationshit drama.

Steven Universe has been fading ever since the Cluster payoff was shit and the homeworld plotline became increasingly meandering

Star's the only one that's still riding high, but I predict it'll crash like all the others once the all the build up to the plot payoff inevitably disappoints like all the others

With all of these shows it's the slow trickle of plot that hooks people. Giving any substantial amount kills it.

It was fun. Damn good fight scenes.

SVTFOE was hated in the 1st season, and AT/SU became hated for hack writing in general, not plot points specifically. Only GF may be that.

>Star's the only one that's still riding high
This is a joke right? It had a shitty first season and the only people obessing over it are shipperfags. That show never got good it just stopped being complete shit an attracted lorefags

>Tartakovsky: Well, we’ve got 10 more scripts that we wrote for it, which are amazing. When the series was canceled, we were just getting to the meat of the story. The reveal of Lance’s father, and other incredible stuff. Alanna falling in love in a ’70s musical episode. Way more action. We were excited, so I would love to do it again.
He just says that they wrote ten scripts before it was cancelled. Not that there are 10 episodes left.

It had the potential to be one of the greatest cartoons ever
