How about modern Russian animation? Does Sup Forums have any thoughts on that?

Oh thats what the owl is from

It's from "Hedgehog in the Fog". The author used to make some wierd animations. Pic related used to scare the shit out of kids back in the 90's

Can't have too many thoughts on something that's virtually non-existent, user.

I've seen some

youtube.com/watch?v=3fEaStyH8rk

youtube.com/watch?v=NnJbtbh4tDE

youtube.com/watch?v=gcCKXVkGCGM

strong aesthetics

I've met a few people who found Hedgehog to be too creepy and didn't even finish watching it. I can't really understand this, the cartoon is really chill in my opinion

Just Russian or Soviet block in general?

there should be more cartoon-horror movies like this

youtube.com/watch?v=07sfGzOV5WE

youtube.com/watch?v=Y1BrIsh0UjY

Despite poor pacing, these two used to scare, when I was a kid. This was also the first time I saw the actual gore in a kids cartoon.

Soviet block.

How come Russia/USSR had so many artsy animation shorts during the 70's-80's time period?

youtube.com/watch?v=zT1ibrHXod0

State sponsored everything

Is it true that the Russian Winnie the Pooh has the hands and feet swapped because the intern was retarded or something?

Dear user, I see you have vast knowledge of russian-soviet animation; Can I make you a question?, when I was child I saw one animation about the tale "many moons" (also know "the princess who want the moon"), I searched for years and only find this version...You know about another animation of the tale?, thanks user

youtube.com/watch?v=c6Rj6MqL8xU

that hedgehog looks deeply traumtized into the camera at the end there
and what's the meaning of the fucking horse?

No supply and demand system to guide mass culture, I guess. Since the artists didn't have to worry about selling their work, they just did what they wanted.

wtf, these are awesome. love that music.

Smeshariki is about the only decent one.

>I see you have vast knowledge of russian-soviet animation

i am sorry, but this is simply not true. I just went through a phase like back in 2011 when I was watching like anything weird or cool soviet/russian related I could find on YT.

Russia still has animation?

only the best-
youtube.com/watch?v=teIOMLgaoyk

There are no other versions user. The cartoon was based on "Many moons" by James Grover Thurber

On the unrelated note. Does anyone know any other watercolor cartoons? I've only seen this one when I was a kid.
youtube.com/watch?v=k3NHZh23GdU

It made appropriate reaction images.

Still the best

...

...

this one uses the unique technique that I don't think has been used in many other animations

Russian Aku youtube.com/watch?v=rfCAUs9U2Js
Seriously tho, seeing this might've been one of Genndy's inspirations that he doesn't want to acknowledge

SHOE AND SHOELACE

youtu.be/NZ7HIo-sPjg?t=6

Why wouldn't he? This is amazing. What are the words he's singing?

Why is all russian animation so damn creepy?

>inb4 all russians are so agressive because of nationwide childhood trauma

Holy shit those Russians knew what they were doing. The music was on point and the animation gave some North Star, Jojo vibes off.

I hate good acts
And I love dirty business.
If I decide to attack,
No lock would save you.

What evil should I do now?
What evil should I do now?
Ah, how mad I am!
Ugh, how mad I am!
Ah, how mad I am!
Ugh, how mad I am!

I love to bully the weak!
Strong have no need for the kindness.
You can search all over the world,
but you wouldn't find a villain like me!

What evil should I do now?
What evil should I do now?
Ah, how mad I am!
Ugh, how mad I am!
Ah, how mad I am!
Ugh, how mad I am!

It's a song of an "evil, too evil, pirate".
It's a pretty standard bad guy/villain song about him hating all the good things and loving the bad things, and how he likes to cause mischief etc.

The main phrase he keeps repeating is:
"- Oh what bad things can i possibly do?'

ARGH, curs ya slow typing monkey fingers of mine!

There's a pretty good Russian cartoon called Qumi Qumi. It doesn't really look Russian at first glance, though

Well, one of the reasons Soviet animation and films have dim colors is because they had no proper color tape production lines.

Cat's song is an interesting one too. Basically it's an alegory on hypocrisy. His design was one of my favorites

Nu Pogodi > Looney Tunes

I loved Homo Dog. Sawfish song was my favorite though.
youtube.com/watch?v=hptw-o2QBVc

Patrician taste

it's not funny because it's completely not true

youtube.com/watch?v=pCYkE5ouI88

Anyone got that satanic looking animation of a lil boi that pops a zit in his face and weird shit starts to come out and there's some creepy singing while places get surrounded by demons I think there was some sort of "omega" written in soviet letters idk.

I really like these ones.
youtube.com/watch?v=sqdiEUp6s4E

Hedgehog in the fog is dope too.

FUCKING CLIFF RACERS

I must

youtube.com/watch?v=z2_dhUv_CrI

not entirely Russian but one of the creepier ones that's for sure youtube.com/watch?v=VQWuw7UNwG0

youtube.com/watch?v=z2_dhUv_CrI

youtube.com/watch?v=-Szn9IwWQq4

youtube.com/watch?v=r16GL3N4PdM

Dont worry of you can't understand anything, narration is nonsensical anyway. Basicly a lecture about nonexistant devices.

I'd watch it

i will not tolerate this commie crap on this here american website soldier!

Dunno on the Moon, The Mystery of the Sukharev Tower (there's a prequel movie called The Sorcerer of Equilibrium and series that has 8 episodes), also the animated remake of the Soviet movie Kin-Dza-Dza is pretty decent.

It's more about the animation and different mindset, than commie propoganda. There were cartoons, made specifically to promote patriotism, but most of those were made somewhere around 50-70s

Anyone know a Russian or Ukrainian animation about a girl who gets blown around her village by a strong wind? I remember seeing it in my animation class but haven't been able to find it since. It's in black and white with a cartoon style.

THICC

Captain Pronin.

Tovarisch!

anyone got Cheburashka references?
