Threads are the worst on Sup Forums.

Pretty dumb but cute characters

Shippers and waifufags elevate to a plane it does not deserve. Overall its just merely okay mainly because the second season managed to fix most of the problems in the first but I think the third season will be the determining factor in it all.

This.
Show ain't nothing special.

It sucks.

Bland as its love plot

Decent porn of these two.
Other than that, overhyped

This

Don't listen to the haters, it's pretty cool.

The threads honestly fucking suck, though, and I only go through them to collect Star making funny faces.

The show itself is okay, and picks up a little at the tail end of season 1 and throughout season 2. Season 1 is okay if you're into wacky stuff though, hell, the show is.

/co likes it.

Of course, the shit-posters and contrarians disagree, but hey, it IS Sup Forums.

Cuck

It's a good show that's gotten better over time and put in the effort to fix earlier flaws. I think there's been a commitment to change things up and not keep the show stagnant, while still staying true to elements established earlier.

By now I really like the universe it's built up, and I didn't expect it to like it as much as I do now going into it. It frequently does things and goes places I wouldn't expect-- ex. increased focus on lore, a more serious examination of Star's flaws, etc.-- and sometimes the extent to which they pull these things off is impressive.

First few episodes are the low point of the series, giving it a poor reputation. Thankfully it starts improving significantly halfway through the first season, and hasn't stopped getting better since then.

Also, and the mods seem to hate it for some reason.

>Bland as its love plot
I'm not sure if you're a troll, or a master of the art of irony.

>season one is all about a wacky princess from another universe doing wacky shit on earth while a bunch of villains tries to get her wand
>season 2 is all about building characters and plot, but keeping it interesting

Ever since i was a kid, i always wanted to see a magical girl abusing her powers just to do fun shit and have no real consequence on her actions while fighting monsters. Star is exactly that. You got a lot of Sup Forums shit for it, but they all fall bland due to shit spacing

Has good episodes sometimes, but what really sets it apart form other shows is how well it is training a future generation of cuckqueans.

This is the tumblr shipping show. People only watch it because they want to see the mexican kid fuck the blonde white girl like the true cuckolds they are.

For fuck sake, Jackie isn't even that important and the romantic plot shows up in only a few episodes

I personally want to see him fuck the other white blond girl/ mermaid

All generals are the worst threads on Sup Forums

Star is a purple bug alien just disguised as a white girl

the porn is good but I haven't been able to get into the show because Star's voice is shit. Does it get any better?

Star getting cucked is seriously messing with her heart. Unless Marco somehow intervenes, there is a chance she might turn into another Eclipsa.

It's pretty good. First episode is okay, second episode is very shit, but it goes uphill from there, and eventually gets some pretty good lore. And it's pretty cute.

It's not like it changes or anything so if you think it's too deep, that's just how it is.

But as the writing gets better and the characters are put in different situations and face different emotions, you get to hear more of her range and she starts sounding more like a real person and less like a wacky character just played for jokes.

I never thought her voice was shit but I did think in the earliest episodes that it sounded too "fake" at times, like every line had to be a joke or something. Stopped thinking that as the show went on and moved away from that style, and so the VA no longer had to play it up on every line.

Season 1 has some high points and is overall worth watching so the much better Season 2 will make sense. Season 2 is the reverse, with a lot of good episodes and only a few mediocre ones.

>didn't watch season 2

Sup Forums is divided on it because most of Sup Forums doesn't actually watch cartoons

You'll find the not-generals here and there. Lots of shitposting in them, but the show itself is actually pretty good.

Probably the best thing on Disney XD right now.

>no cartoons on the cartoon board

i like it, it think its fun and silly, with good characters and a lot of cute situations

is this not /sveg/?

Good show with a cancerous fandom

The same can be said of a lot of fandoms, hell we even got

It's pretty good

Did the Star vs. threads get purged from Sup Forums yet? I don't understand why the mods let them stay for an entire month after the show had stopped airing.

What would you say is the 'thesis' or 'point' of this show?

I meant it was not a cancer in Sup Forums but the shipping is cancer within the fandom. Also bronies right now are pretty cool

coming of age

>have no real consequence on her actions
>Star is exactly that.
You did watch Season 2, right?

Started weak, becomes better.

is panel 2 a reference to smash bros comic toon link? subconcious even?

the show isn't that great but the porn is fantastic

shame people stopped uploading smutfics to AFF and AO3

We're in hiatus. I'm sure it will pick back up against once season 3 starts.

Like everything else, Eden's performance gets a lot better as she grows into the character.
She's definitely trying too hard in the first few episodes, but it's her first voice acting role and she noticeably improves when she gets used to Star and starts delivering her lines more naturally.
youtube.com/watch?v=9W62wS7dYmk

"Local princess ruins everything"
It's about Star going from an irresponsible spastic fuckup to a slightly more responsible and level-headed girl, who still does a lot of dumb shit but she's trying to get better and we want to see her earn her happy ending.

of course i did, user

I was talking about season one until Toffee came along and blew her wand, the show would be uninteresting if they'd use the same formula 24/7. I like how they are building the plot, and despite all the shitty shipping and tease, you still have a solid show

Season 3 is set to be good

>oh yaaaay...
>its not over yet...

IM RELIVING IT, EDDY!

I want to try and watch it but at the same time I don't.

Can someone post the image of star bringing marco pancakes/juice and literally everyone she knows leaving marcos room sexually satisfied?

...

>despite all the shitty shipping
People shouldn't let a fanbase influence their view of a show.
The extent of "shipping" in the show is one basic love triangle, and in my opinion its been quite well done. The relationship development has come slowly and naturally over the course of two seasons and its managed to keep all three people involved easily likable, despite it standing in the way of the preferred ship of an overwhelming majority of the fans.
And even though the romantic angle is important because the show has basically lived on the sweetness of Star and Marco's friendship from the start, it definitely hasn't taken over the show. Out of the sixty-something episodes there's only around three episodes where romantic drama has been the focus, and they're all packed into the second half of Season 2, while in the meantime there's been all sorts of new plotlines and story elements introduced.

I think it says a lot that even with how Season 2 ended, the first trailer for Season 3 doesn't show Star or Marco at all.
youtube.com/watch?v=N9gZhlvhzEs

Of course I'm sure as it gets closer (or even after it airs, since apparently the rest of the season won't start until Fall) they're going to drop some top-quality bait on us, even worse than "Smooch Buddies," but it's nice to see that they recognize the show's story has a lot more going for it than just the two main dorks.

its a good show, problem is finding a good place to tell people to start at, like sure you can just start at the beginning but season 1 had like 4 good episodes, arguably less. The amazing season 2 is what really carries the show, especially since it shows the writers seem to actual learned from season 1, cutting the bad aspects of season 1 and pumping up the good aspects

Also has a totally shit fanbase, just stay away from threads about the show while new episodes aren't coming out they descend into autistic shipping, waifu faggotry and worst of all retarded AUs

I wish to make Marco my woman, thus making all his women my women.

>problem is finding a good place to tell people to start at
The beginning, you mongoloid.

yeah kinda hard to get someone into a show when you start with like an hour and a half of bad to mediocre episodes where all you can do is promise it will get better eventually

"School Spirit" through "Mewberty" is fine.
If your friends don't have the patience to appreciate a good show it's their loss.

I would argue the first good episode is Mewberty

and give the massive glut of media that is released now a days I can't really blame people who will watch one maybe two episodes and if something doesn't hook them, dropping it

That's why I wish there was a better jumping on point than just the beginning because the beginning really doesn't have a strong hook to it

quality of the episodes aside I think one thing that makes the problem of the plot taking a while to start worse is the way some people watch it.

like, treating both segments as two separate "episodes," watching one of these episodes a day/week/month, and then wondering why there seems to be no plot progression

i'm not saying everyone absolutely has to watch the first season, but it's so short that I don't understand why everyone watching for the first time spaces the episodes out so far apart. if you really want to you can watch the entire first season, all at once or in between doing other stuff, in a few hours or days.

if it's taking you months to get to a plot episode maybe it's not even the show's problem, it's yours.

(note I'm not referring to someone who find it so bad or whatever that they literally don't want to watch that much at once. i'm referring to the weird general viewing habit of treating one episode slot as two and stretching the season out forever when honestly attempting to get into it)

I'd say Mewberty is the first great episode but the show is definitely watchable before it.
School Spirit, Monster Arm, The Other Exchange Student and Diaz Family Vacation are all more entertaining than a lot of Season 2's filler.

But I'm sure it would be harder to enjoy if you went into it with a mindset of "I have to sit through this crap to get to the PLOT" instead of just appreciating a cute show for what it was.
I didn't pick the show up until February but all I knew before going into it was a webm of the All Seeing Eye scene in Bon Bon, and the porn.

There is too many filler/bottle episode that don't serve any purpose than doing some random Uncle Grandpoa tier humor.

If i didn't know that there is a cool story arc in S2, i would have dropped the show after first 3 episodes. Many people also did dropped it and i had to tell them that it gets interesting in later episodes for them to continue.

Its pretty much the only thing worth watching this year unless you also are a fan of MLP, SU and Voltron. But SVTFOE is still the most interesting.

I like it because it's a cartoon with harem elements generally found in my animu

I am fond of both, which means I am even fonder when both are combined

Postscript, Starco is endgame and everyone who denies it (including Nefcy) is either lying or delusional

I dunno, man. When I initially watched the first few episodes, I hated it and dropped it super hard. But Among Amigos kept making me want to know. Without that, I wouldn't have watched the best cartoon on TV because of those episodes.

was this drawn by the same guy who drew Garfield

Kino. Nothing but kino.

What are the chances of the movie being кинo/10

100% if we get to see a sane Mina Loveberry loosing her mind on the battlefield.

They've gotten that bad huh. Geez, was afraid the hiatus doing this. Guess my safest bet is to wait till season 3 starts again before I go back to them.

>treating both segments as two separate "episodes," watching one of these episodes a day/week/month
Wait, do people actually do this?

I mean, I understand that some people here are actually (gasp) somewhat productive members of society with limited free time every day, but this is just stupid. Wait until the weekend and marathon it like everyone else.
Post your reactions on not/sveg/ so we have an excuse to talk about old plot details again.

>"School Spirit" through "Mewberty" is fine.
>If your friends don't have the patience to appreciate a good show it's their loss.
There's nothing particularly bad about the first half of S1 (worst girl notwithstanding), but few of them are exceptionally good either. That's 3~4 hours of viewing (16 minisodes) before reaching what's widely regarded as the turning point of the series.

I will agree that broadcast order is still the way to get maximum enjoyment overall from the show, but I can understand if someone gets the wrong impression from the first few episodes (especially 1B).

Interesting characters in a show that has a lot weakly written episodes. Wasted potential.

>Wait, do people actually do this?
yeah, I've seen a bunch of people trying to get into it who watch it that way, I guess from being used to Steven Universe etc. airing 10-minute individual episodes? but for Star there are two stories together with one opening/ending sequence, they originally aired that way, there's no reason to do that shit.

and I can understand just not having time, but when you regard 1 episode as 2 it seems people want to take it on at a decent pace or something, and consider 10 minutes "welp, just watched a full episode"

pretty trivial when it comes to later episodes where developments are more frequent (ex. the Starbruary stuff), but when you have to get through 16 stories in the first season just to realize it has a plot, and you're not even watching one story a day, that's like guaranteed weeks/months before you realize what that season's even trying to do.

whereas watching them as they actually aired would only take half as long, since I really doubt everyone who watches the show like that doesn't have an extra 10 minutes a day

TL;DR I guess: just watch it in the format it aired

There was a time when we talked about cartoons here with no generals. It was a better time.

It's my favourite ongoing show.

>There was a time when we talked about cartoons here with no generals.
Then, everything changed when the [insert fandom here] attacked.

Well, I just watched it over the last week. It helped me get over my horse addiction (that and the horses being bad now), but now I ship Starco, even though I find Starcuck hilarious.

It also made me think of how cool it would be to run a modern fantasy campaign for two people of the opposite gender.

I actually think right now it's living up to its potential more than it ever has been

but then that's also because the first few episodes were even more "wasted potential" by comparison

I'm hopeful about the shift to Mewni in the upcoming season

Movie is all about Toffee and Moon so it bound to be pure kino

youtube.com/watch?v=2OLM5iamWLQ

I found the show mostly disappointing, and I dropped it at the start of season 2. Then I saw Bon Bon the Birthday Clown was pretty hype when it came out (with good reason) so I decided to catch up. I've loved the show ever since.

If you go in expecting episodic high-energy fun with occasional monster fights and hoping for a bit of lore, you'll be very pleasantly surprised when the show changes gears and will think it's great, surpassing your expectations, holy shit what a ride never thought it would become a show like this when I started watching wow

If you're drawn in by the lore hype speculation threads, and go in expecting some intense and mature deepest lore real shit game of thrones stuff right from the beginning, you'll become one of those retards whining that they're already 3 episodes in when does it get good, when does the good plot part start waaahh are we there yet

I like the show a lot, but then again I went in with almost zero expectations. I think it's pretty great for what it is. It's a rather ambitious kids' show with pretty good writing.

Coming of age and growing into facing your responsibilities and the consequences of your actions

It starts out with Star as rather naive and happily abusing her status as a magical princess, not giving much of a shit about the consequences or the considerable property damages her actions have because the magical wand or mommy's money will just fix it all tralala. She's the classic girl princess protagonist in the sense that she only ever thinks of what she wants and what she feels, and how she wants to be "free" and "do me" while still taking full advantage of her position. She doesn't do homework, doesn't want to do anything she deems boring etc. Sure she's kind but she's also somewhat selfish and spoiled.

But throughout the show, this quirky whimsical behavior starts to get portrayed as causing huge, huge problems, and eventually her recklesness and tendency to avoid unpleasant responsibilities comes back to bite her in the ass with a vengeance. Both in her romantic life but also on the professional princess front.

If you hated Mabel getting away with all her bullshit because tee hee she's the quirky girl protag she can't do no wrong, watching Star having to lay in the bed she herself made feels kinda cathartic. And we're only halfway through

Ok show. Fucking terrible fanbase.

>finding a good place to tell people to start at,
The beginning you goddamned retard
Season 1 has many good episodes and a lot of stuff setting the stage. The episodic adventures are also a core part of what the show is.

If someone is severely turned off by that kind of humor then the show isn't for them and you shouldn't try to forcefully get them into the show by promising some ebin deep lore, because that's false advertising, idiot

Name me the good fanbases.

Janna posting makes it worth while

T..The Janna base?

>every girl in this show but Jackie is a S T I C C
What did they mean by this?

Same story, but i dropped it after first 2 episodes and watched Bon Bon later because of hype. Such increase in quality impressed me, and now it's my favourite show.

Jannafags are one of the worse parts of the star vs fandom tho

They don't want to make it too obvious who's going to win the marcobowl

Why...and think before you answer

>I think this show's a little weird, I think that it's a little wild, it ain't from round here, it's like... from another dimension!

Jackiefags are worse

>Star has a crush on him
>Jackie has a crush on him
>Janna has a crush on him
>Hekapoo had him to herself for 16 years
>Starfan13 is all over him in the livechats
What did he do to deserve such a high-quality harem?

You mean Starfags
And don't forget those Hekafags
Starfan13 will get the marcobowl. They already made the most intimate together a livestream

you just answered your own question with that post, actually

>whoops!

Fanco13 is the most patrician ship

>make it with me just like you did with Star

>arguing over who is going to be paired with who

Shippers are faggots and all of them deserve to be sent to death camps.

Whatever happens in the show is canon, anything that is "implied" or whatever you think will happen is not true until it actually fucking happens.

Kill yourselves.

Everyone knows magic can't real.
