This was supposed to pave the way for R-Rated animated movies and prove to the big adults that cartoons are not just for little kids. What went wrong?

It had the humor of a 12 year old who just learned what swear words were.

/thread

it wasn't notable for anything besides a food porno

It wasn't good. There were 1-2 jokes that might cause a cracked smile but that's it.

>There were 1-2 jokes that might cause a cracked smile but that's it.

This. Nothing in the movie made me laugh - the only things that got a smile out of me were Douche inadvertantly addressing other food products and the Canadian beers saying "sorry sorry sorry".

Pretty much.

I described it to my friends as "If Egoraptor actual had a budget and made animated movies". The entire thing was basically his brand lowbrow/juvenile humor, whether it be game grumps or his youtube cartoons I just couldn't help but think of him while watching this, which is probably why I hated it so god damned much.

It had memorable characters, story, and animation though

Honestly if you want a good r-rated adult animation, check out Lascars, there must be a subtitled version somewhere.

It's a shame USA seems to think r-rated must mean sex and dick jokes or gore, รก la family guy

yes, well put

>This was supposed to pave the way for R-Rated animated movies and prove to the big adults that cartoons are not just for little kids. What went wrong?
you for believing such an asinine ideal. even if this was successful, it only would have paved the way for more animated adult humor movies. Do you literally have no idea how Hollywood works?

Broken.
Labor.
Laws.

>This was supposed to pave the way for R-Rated animated movies
Why do people keep saying this when R-rated animated movies already exist and have existed for decades? And how is something this juvenile supposed to make people think cartoons are "adult" anyway?

Well it was an edgy parody of pixar movies I'm not sure how it was supposed to prove anything

>This was supposed to pave the way for R-Rated animated movies

How so? Raunchy R-rated animated films have been a thing for decades. The only noteworthy thing about Sausage Party was that it was CGI, which is hardly an accomplishment. Other than that, it was nothing new.

Apparently some guy on like Cartoon Brew or some other side was really pushing the idea that if Sausage Party is successful it will lead to this golden age of genuinely mature animation- not just dick and weed jokes, but legitimate mature R-rated animated with serious and complex themes. A bunch of idiots on Sup Forums bought into the idea despite there being absolutely no reason to believe this would happen.

Was it better than Sausage Party?

your gay anime dont count for R Rated animated movies.

Remember when pic related was proposed for an Oscar and was laughed off for the faggotry it was

>is so ignorant of western media he doesn't even know about stuff like Heavy Metal and Super Beasto

Also don't forget anything made by Ralph Bakshi in the 1970s (Fritz the Cat, Heavy Traffic) or Osamu Tezuka's Animerama trilogy (A Thousand and One Nights, Cleopatra, Belladonna of Sadness)

>memorable characters
like?
>story
like?
>animation
like?

seth rogen wrote it

A HUH HUH HUH HUH HUH

See They screwed over a lot of animators.

>typical dude weed lmao movie
>except it's a cartoon this time!

I fucking hate Seth Rogan movies. Every joke is "hurr durr I like weed". And Jonah Hill being the fat and annoying fuck that he is, stars in all of them.

You made me hear that fucking laugh in my head. I will hate you forever for doing that.

Is this truly the biggest Reddit movie ever made?
>GODS NOT REAL LOL
>Smoke weed dude, lmao like, lots of weed xd
>cuckolding
>whitey being afraid gf is going to be fucked by blacks
>TAKE THIS YOU CRACKER! xd based black men
>lmao boner jokes
>lmao the punchline to this joke was a curse word
>lmao SHIT xD
>lol food sex
>lol epic 4th wall breaking!!

I mean, people bitch about Deadpool, but that movie has NOTHING on this. I'm glad their jewish bosses scammed the animators out of their money.

No it wasn't.

It wasn't funny

That's not what Sup Forums and cartoon brew told me!!!!!!

Adult animation in mainstream already happened with shrek

we just had this thread, we don't need to have it again

Because it's not an "adult" movie, it's a kids movie with adult jokes in it.

Honestly, thematically it's a lot less mature than most recent animated movies that ARE aimed at kids. Zootopia, WALL-E, Toy Story, these are movies that might not have swearing, blood, or gore, but they actually had a message that could be appreciated by people of any age. Sausage Party can be summarized by the pic you posted: one big dick joke.

Sausage party isn't a movie for adults, it's for children who happen to be over 18.

>This was supposed to pave the way for R-Rated animated movies and prove to the big adults that cartoons are not just for little kids

Instead it proved that R-Rated animated movies are for people who enjoy low brow college movie humor and penis jokes, aka stoners and idiots.

Congrats on setting us back years, Sausage Party.

>I'm glad their jewish bosses scammed the animators out of their money.
Are you a retard, dude
Do you fucking think the people writing and pitching a thing and making the profit from it are the animators? Really?

As bad as the movie was I do have to commend it on having excellent pacing.

Call me when Hollywood tries something like the Wings of Honneamise.

I'm not spending my money on trash like Sausage Party.

they didn't pay or credit the people who worked on the movie so the industry looks at it with disgust

so Seth Rogan lied?

Yeah but that's not much of an accomplishment

I know its not a movie, but southpark already did that.

I know its not a movie, but southpark already did that.

I know its not a movie, but southpark already paved the way for animated R-movies and shows.

If you have watched any episode of family guy, then you've seen everything this movie has to offer.

>all those shitty reviewers praising it for showing atheism and questing religion

The movie thinks atheism, if it succeeds will lead to a world where everyone fucks and does kinky gay shit to each other 24/7. How the fuck can a reviewer praise that?

The west will never give a shit about adult oriented cartoons that isn't pure comedy.

>Do you fucking think the people writing and pitching a thing and making the profit from it are the animators? Really?
this
when Sup Forumsmrades don't know shit about how animation works

The CGI made it seem like it took place in the same universe as Fanboy and Chum Chum, which is cool because that means a bunch of sentient food killed Fanboy and Chum Chum.

remember, the only truths are the cold hard facts of your 8th grade science textbook, and also comedy movies tell it like it is
