Which Batgirl had the best run? Which Batgirl is your favourite...

Which Batgirl had the best run? Which Batgirl is your favourite? I will always have a soft spot for Babs but Cass was great.

How in the absolute fuck have these three not had a team book together?

Batgirls #1. Make it happen, DC. Put an end to the insipid waifu wars by having all three be the bestest of friends and given equal billing, forcing their respective fan bases to get along for once.

Yes, do this but don't have the current artist for Batgirl draw it so it can actually look good.

>Which Batgirl had the best run?

Cass

> Which Batgirl is your favourite?

Also Cass

As proved, this is best Batgirl period.

Cass
then Steph
the Babs

nobody remembers bette kane

Of those 3, Cass but Batwoman Elegy is the best female bat arc ever, with better art then the collective artistry that has ever drawn those 3 in their entire existence.
JH Williams is GOD.

Speaking of Batwoman her rebirth run is pretty good, I know it only has 3 issues right now but still. Shame that Batgirls hasn't been more than mediocre in comparison and its had more time to try and fix itself.

I am agree with your TOP 3

I didn't like Steph.

I didn't like you.

Pretty rude desu

Helena B. was also Batgirl for a little bit of time during NML

How could anyone like that bat hoes?

Looking at the numbers probably Cass since she had a pretty long run, especially for a legacy. That Babs isn't doing as hot as her or Steph should tell DC something.

Sure Babs is THE Batgirl but she only really came into her own as a character whe she was Oracle.

> Which Batgirl had the best run?

Cassandra.

> Which Batgirl is your favourite?

Cassandra. I do love Stephanie too. But Cassandra was the one who got me fully into DC Comics. So yeah.

Barbara isn't bad, but she's just stuck in a stupid cycle now that Dick was stuck in. She needs a new status quo. And one where not every arc where it turns out her latest male in her life is trying to kill her or because of his lifestyle is trying to kill her.

Wonder if Dick's new girl will be his status quo now that you mention him.

Have Killer Moth be her "Catwoman". Or give her a rape arc.

They sort of did, in Batgirl: Future's End. But it was just Cass/Steph fanservice with suddenly a muscle fetish issue at the end with Barbara.

League of Batgirls wasn't a bad idea.

I keep thinking they'll kill her off. I don't have much faith in Shawn staying.

How did fucking Batwoman manage to pull a such a god-tier artist for her first solo so soon after she was created? It's crazy.

Yeah, I'll admit Dick is going back downward to his usual status quo. But between him as Batman and then Grayson.

It just felt refreshing.

> we've only had one Killer Moth story.
> Burnside
> the freaking Batgirl: Convergence writer at the very least finds a way to shoe-horn Killer Moth into the story.
> Stephanie had no prior history with Moth.

Truly suffering.

Yeah me too or they break up because bullshit. But it would be pretty cool if she did. I mean, hey, you thought back in the day that some half-asian would become Batgirl and get her own solo too?
Stranger things have happened.

> a god-tier artist for her first solo so soon after she was created? It's crazy.

Um user, Kate was in basically limbo prior to that with minor appearances. She was originally going to get an ongoing with the launch of 52. It was to be written by Devin Grayson and the primary reason DC canceled Cass's ongoing because two female Bats is one two many.

It was basically Rucka and Williams III finally just giving her the due she deserved after being a prop in 52 and Final Crisis tie-in mini (Revelations?)

Well if Dick would go back to his true status quo he'd be fucking either Kory or Babs already if you ask me.

True, but Dick's had prior love interests in the past. Surprisingly this one does feel a lot better. okay fuck it. I admit it. I love Shawn.

Thing is though aren't we getting another Dick guest-spot in Batgirl again? To be horribly written and just make us face palm?

Oh yeah I totally agree but even then I don't have much faith, I think they'll just go back to this in the long run. If she stays consistent than thats great.

But Dick/Helena in Nightwing at the same time

> we will never get a Brave & the Bold sequel starring all the Batgirls.

Sigh...

Me too, user.

I dunno. I stopped reading Babs' book.

Probably. He shows up like every 3 issues.

>She was originally going to get an ongoing with the launch of 52

How the fuck does that make sense? She was created in 52.

She was going to have an ongoing right after her appearance in 52. Thankfullly DC realized Devin Grayson wasn't the best writer to start on.

Just think what the character could have been if they went with Devin as the writer and not waited with Rucka/Williams III.

Go ahead imagine the horrible storytelling.

Is each new appearance Dick has in Babs' ongoing getting more forced or is it just me?

Yeah I don't get what they're trying to do

Okay? I was just wondering how Batwoman pulled such big name creators for her first solo work while the other Batgirls pulled C-listers. The biggest name that's worked on one is Gail Simone for Barbara like 50 years after her creation.

They are playing the long game in their NTR scenario so that Babs slowly wants Dick again only to show up at his door and Shawn opening the door in the vein of Starfire back in the day.

I could see that. I could read that

Basically, blame Yvonne Craig and people not wanting to adapt Bab's fate in the Killing Joke in other media, much less her rising above it as Oracle.

I want Yvonne Craig to blame me

Cass maybe had the better run overall, but Steph's was a better Batgirl run.

Cause DC realized how fucked they'd be if they handled the first gay Bat-character and just handed that character off to Devin Grayson who destroyed Dick as a character.

I wouldn't say the other Batgirls pulled C-Listers. Kelly Puckett and Chuck Dixon were THE Batman writers of the 90s. It's just after Puckett did Cass get C-listers (who were still good for the most part).

The miracle run is Miller's Batgirl run. The man was burdened with having to boot Cass, Babs was in the bitchiest state (she lost the Birds, ran everyone out from her life, was thinking about the past aka Batgirl) and then you had Stephanie who just came back a year prior. Also Miller was put on the comic at the last moment. since DC was originally toying with bringing Babs back as Batgirl before Simone ironically said, "NOPE."

This run shouldn't be this good with all this happening to it theoretically Yet it turned out to be so very fun and the blueprint for what Babs ongoings should be.

I mean christ when was the last time Babs teamed up with someone other than the Birds and the Family in her actual ongoing?

The thing that gets me though is I think Tynion is playing a long game of wanting to give Cass a new ongoing. He gives her a new identity to avoid copyright (Black Bat is copyrighted sadly).

Lays out a new supporting cast for her (Harper, Christine, etc.), dynamics with others (based Basil friendship).

The only other character he gave that to was Kate, and she did get an ongoing after the intro arc on Tec.

>Babs
>Performing in any kind of run

user...

To be fair, the best kind of run she has is the porn kind.

and is destroying Stephanie in the process

The anatomy is only the first issue

> is literally WILD CARD BITCHES!
> joins forces with Anarky
> arc with Anarky his mask will be removed.
> Anarky is the General.

I know this is where Tynion is going.

>Cause DC realized how fucked they'd be if they handled the first gay Bat-character and just handed that character off to Devin Grayson who destroyed Dick as a character.

It's because they came under criticism for Grayson's ideas about making her a lipstick lesbian. So Tomasi who was Bat editor around the time of 52 reassigned the job to Rucka and JH Williams instead. I'm sure there are still unused scripts (and maybe even art) of Grayson's Batwoman somewhere in the DC Vaults.

There IS unused scripts and art of Greyson's Batwoman. Just like there's an unused scripts of Chuck Dixon's second time around the Batman comics.

There's a Detective Comics script that featured Bruce and Cass, a Spoiler mini, and an issue of Robin featuring Cluemaster.

Speaking of the Cluemaster issue of Robin. Here's the cover to that "lost" issue.

>Cass
>Cass

JH Williams probably should be drawing instead of writing, but I don't think anyone could have predicted that Marc Andreyko would shit the bed as badly as he did.

Funny how both Grayson and Andrekyo have pulled the "it wasn't rape-rape" card on different characters

Batgirl Year One is the best Batgirl story and it isn't even close.

Typical pussies pussing out on showing gay villains doing fucked up shit.

It never ceased to amaze me that Simone's Batgirl run wasn't similar in tone to Batgirl Year One or Millar's run. Christ, Simone's editor must have driven her insane.

>did it for the lulz
Was this actually in the comic or is it just an edit. If so, goddamn that is some lulzy cringe.

You know why the fuck didn't they just make a small cut-up thing for Year One with the Killing Joke adaptation. It works so much better then what we got actually.

You have to admire her somewhat class in taking on this burden of doing grim and gritty Batgirl like they wanted.

You also have to wonder just what was the tipping point that got Simone fired originally from the comic (the week of Christmas) via an e-mail after her saying she wouldn't fridge a supporting cast member on the comic.

Simone's run was too much of a joke to parody.

It doesn't happen because of Babs. A team of Batgirls would end up stealing her thunder.

My god.

>Have Killer moth be her "Catwoman"
Hell have Batgirl be kitten's babysitter so we can set up shenanigans.

I think Babs is THE Batgirl in the same way that Hal Jordan is THE Green Lantern; someone else can easily take her place in the public consciousness for a time if they were actually given a chance like John Stewart was.

There's a weird cyclical logic with Batgirls where Babs is pushed because she's popular but she's popular because she's pushed. Can you really be said to be the best if you're the only game in town and never get honest competition?

I think that was the entire point. She had to be writing all the grim/gritty shit as a parody in itself mocking the concept.

Her entire run felt mostly like parody and the only time did it ever feel right was her Convergence: Nightwing/Oracle mini.

Which is true. I've had a few of my comic friends who were like, "Oh Babs is the best Batgirl." Then I pause and be like, "You've read the previous versions right?" They said no and I loaned them my Steph trades and gave them Cass digital files I have (I'd probably loan them the new trades since those are in order).

Every single time they've become either a Cass or a Stephanie fan and left Barbara in the dust. Just as planned.

Though it makes me wonder. I've seen reading lists we made for Cass and Stephanie. But we never made one for Barbara have we ever?

I mean Batgirl Year One would be the top listing and probably the image I'd suggest to be used for the wallpaper

But there's gotta be one right?
