tish's parents they wisely avoided mentioning any real country (though they are still jewish). The impression is their country has a lot of rich, mostly pleasant traditions, but was recently overrun by communists who banned door-locking and other things (religion's usually first on their chopping-block) so they split to the states. just makes you wanna salute, i tell you what.
it is a shame though because they could have made them crazy eastern orthodox christians instead, and on the christmas episode we could have seen crazy eastern orthodox christmas, with an added filter of 'fictional country'
