I actually liked her '00s/early'10s solo series, I sometimes think that I might be the only one who read for anything other than fap material.
I think the book did a good job of mixing her personal motivations to stand out, her military background, her power fluctuations, and her angst over the whole amnesiac thing. It all fell to shit around the time that the Infinity story arc started though, and they decided to revamp her again.

Carol needs a writer who understands her histroy (revamped or not), her powerset (especially the cosmic side, Binary), and her psyche which can be summarized as confused, troubled and traumatized.
Why are they so scared to present a flawed hero? She's fucked up and fucks up but she genuinely desires to be a good hero and try her damnest to be one. That alone makes it heroic. Maybe not in a traditional sense but her personal victories can be equal to her heroic victories.
